Touchscreen issue really exists - Xiaomi Mi 4C

Hi guys, I bought Xiaomi mi4c one month ago and I noticed this problem on multi-touch, is it software or hardware problem? am I only who have this problem? can you check on your mi4c? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPC7Z2ploxc

This does exists in all 3 xiaomi mi4c I have, in all developer roms I tested it.
When you press more than one finger the edge of touch is not working.

I too have this problem while typing I thought it might be because of the tampered glass screen protector on my phone but now you people are saying so it will be a issue definitely

What is the issue? Let me check. I didnt understand the OP

If you have more than one finger on the screen, the far edge of the touch around the screen does not work at all until you have only one finger on the screen
Στάλθηκε από το Mi-4c μου

The OP created a thread here and asked the same question in many other threads (including the thread about MM update for Mi4c), what's the point?
Sent using xda premium

I do not know what is the point of op to ask the same question over multiple threads, but this is the one I saw while trying to find a solution, and this is where I posted.
Don't mark the thread as bad, the problem does exist in both my mi4c, and I have try all available roms, officials, developers, cyanogen and others I could find.
The point is not why the op did something, but why the thing we have does what it does.

Works fine for me. It registers and tracks all five fingers at once.

Please read what the problem is.
It does register more than one finger, but the edge of screen does not get any readings if you have more than one finger pressed

Like the touch area gets smaller if you have more than one finger on the screen.
Cannot explain that in a better way, sorry.

Now i see the issue.
The left side is made with one Finger, the right side made with two.

The working area is [39, 1039] on X axis and [59, 1859] on Y axis in my case.
5.12.10 EU weekly, edge tap disabled and tempered glass screen protector applied.

Try it with the "pointer location" on developer settings. My screen works perfectly with 10 fingers at the same time, no cropped lines. I´m using stable rom from xiaomi.eu

Its not about the cropped lines. Look at my Screenshot, with one Finger (left) you can go to the edges of the display and your Finger is recognized. With 2 fingers (right) you go to the edges, but its not recognized

Same problem here but guys is it realy an issue? If I not read this post I never notice this problem.

For me it is a huge issue since I always type with two hands and usually I am misstouching somewhere.
Also in some games it is a no go.

[Q] New batch with different touch panel?

Recent commit in the touchpanel kernel drivers area:

Looks like getting the touchscreen controller's firmware ready for a WINTEK touchscreen (versus TPK, which is the current one).
Any info anyone?

Maybe they found TPK to be too unreliable in terms of quality control and decided to try Wintek out?
Wintek are known to make touchscreen for iPhones and other phones.

I wonder if you can RMA based on crappy touch screen and get a wintek screen panel?
How do you check what panel you have now, is there a way?

If this is the case, and it would fix all the existing touch problems, that would be so unfair towards customers who purchased phones with this issue...
Mine is 26/08 and I have no quality problems at all, no yellow band, no ghost touches, but still!

Golden rule of technology: Never buy the first generation of anything.
It's not unfair, it's just a nice perk to those who came after us. OnePlus had no way of knowing the touch panel would be as big of a problem as it has been. We'll still be getting driver updates and the like to make our panels more usable.

This doesn't resolve yellow banding. That's an issue in manufacturing that was fixed long ago.
In your case, find a UV light somewhere. Hair salon has them. Just leave your phone under it for a bit and the yellow will be gone. It's because they didn't leave them under UV long enough in the factory to dry the glue holding the panel to the LCD.

The yellow banding was not in any way caused by the adhesive/glue. That was an excuse offered by OnePlus as damage limitation. It is one of their many many many poorly thought out excuses for all the early hardware problems.
Oh and the problem does still exist in the current batches.
I had hoped we'd left the yellow band / yellow tint stuff behind us. Can't we just leave it now? It's not productive. It's not the point of the thread.

While I do see your point, you have to realize that any thread regarding display discussion is going to result in talking about the yellow banding. Unfortunately, the number of people who have it is VERY large and many people who spent their hard earned cash on the phone feel let down by it. So naturally, if a topic comes up about a new display, the conversation is going to turn to discussing if this new display solves this widespread problem.
Is it annoying to read about it every day? Yes. But is it an issue that OnePlus refuses to admit to as being a defect and something that bothers A LOT of OnePlus One users? You bet. It will not be left behind until OnePlus truly acknowledges the issue and solves it. Until then they will continue to distribute the phone and buyers will keep noticing it and rehashing the topic in this forum.

On a terminal app or an adb shell, do:
Code:
cat /sys/class/input/input0/vendor_id
TP vendor codes being:
Code:
#define TP_VENDOR_WINTEK 1 //ʤ»ª
#define TP_VENDOR_TPK 2 //TPK
#define TP_VENDOR_TRULY 3 //ÐÅÀû
#define TP_VENDOR_YOUNGFAST 4 //Ñó»ª
Most likely you'll get "2"... I think we would have known via an official channel if there is an important change like this. Also the driver would probably undergo some changes to adopt a new TP and we would know via gerrit / github. Still, Steve Kondik's comment "Needed for the next batch." puzzles me.
Received my oneplus today, built Nov 3
the above procedure shows vendor_id 1 so WINTEK

If you used b300 to fix some bugs that's why you have that option. Won't work. On b324 clean install there is no such option.

As far as I understood it won't work on the HAM7 anyway, perhaps it's designed for Mate S hardware - but it's just my guess.
For me to accept a call or take a foto by fingerprint works, the gestures not.
You can find it under >Settings>Fingerprint-ID and it's not grayed out there.

I dont know why u guys asking for finger print sencor notification...its not support for mate 7
First in beta version they send us thats version for test which is from Mate S (I guess) or any other device from huawei which support fp sencor,
Second, i m sure u guys install this official version directly from lp beta version which completely give u error or some kind of buggs...
read instruction in that download pakage, or i can say u can install from 120,125,138 which is the official kitkat release on huawei forum...pls dont complain anything about official version untill u cant install fresh one...the is the most fast, suitable and strongest without any error version i ever seen in andriod...even other brand cant seem fast and beautiful when i compare my mate 7 with them...so read command in all thread, get idea then start install....one thing i want to make sure there is not such kind of fp sencor for notification, it was only in beta they send us for test which for our device, our mate 7 hardware doesn't support fp sencor....
Enhance your calm, citizen. We're discussing it, is all. I didn't expect it to be here, knowing that it is dependent on the hardware.
Still gonna reset this weekend. Holding thumbs for the Mate 7 being listed for upgrade to Marshmallow...
I m always calm dude...just say few words which will help others...specially whose saying to downgrade from 324 by mean that version not stable...i just did clear that i m runny with everything fine...
i'm 100% sure that it's not a hardware problem, and I can explain why:
First you have to turn on the option in developer settings which will show where you touch the screen, then you go into the stock gallery app (or camera), and then you touch the fp sensor and see what happens. You will see how the marker will move through the screen without touching it. It doesn't only detect different fingerprints but also where you touch it. If you touch it on the left it will move right. I you touch it on the right it will move left, touch on top move down, touch in the upper left corner it will go diagonal to the lower right corner etc..
now if you think logical it should detect a swipe down movement easily, as it only needs to realize that you touched the top, the middle and the bottom. There may be problems to make it not detect unwanted swipes due to it not beeing that precise I guess but it shouldn't be that hard to fix it..
if they only released the source code for it then some modders could easily script something for us..

Mi4c cannot answer calls

So my problem is that when my phone has been standing idle for a longer period of time and then somebody calls, the touchscreen doesn't work. I cannot slide the green phone icon and I cannot answer the call. All buttons work, I can switch the screen off, the bottom keys vibrate when I press them, but I still can't answer the call. I had the problem with the Chinese Dev ROM and also with sMiui. Any ideas how to fix it?

I don't need a promo code but this might be a bit tricky to get the sweet spot for the G7. This is width 800 and height 125.
Actually the screenshot isn't going to help much since it doesn't properly illustrate how it jives with the notch

Looks great! I have sent you a code. Thank you so much.
I tried at 600x110 to make the bar smaller. Battery was at 97%. Only thing is, it would appear that this only works with the one supplied wallpaper and doesn't seem to work with other wallpapers. Also, I figured that I could then turn off the numerical battery display to gain some room up top. Thing is, even with the number display turned off, nothing from the top left moves over to the top right, so I'm not really gaining anything in screen real estate, but losing some where the colored bar is, and I'm stuck with only one wallpaper that can be used.
With pro version You can choose different wallpaper, just shape is not identical with LG g7, I already have asked developer to add this feature, also choose percentage on which different colors appear will be great
