ok, so by following this steps on topic :
- Install the app Nexus 5 Field Test mode
- Make sure you have the phone rooted
- Enable usb debugging
- Now you need to obtain your SPC code. For doing it open Nexus 5 Field Test Mode App, got to settings (view), then LTE, and click on edit. At the same time use logcat to get the SPC code
you should use it on "adb " and you will get the spc code

Any suggestions? I tried the Market app but it won't work. Thanks!
Have you tried checking getprop for ril.MSL manually or using EPST and checking the logcat output?
I'm running CM7 and I don't know if this method will work for all roms or if you aren't rooted but here's how I found mine:
Download alogcat app from Market and open it. Press menu>filter and type msl in the filter.
Go to your dialer and enter *#*#DATA#*#* then when the menu comes up choose Edit.
When it asks for your msl, enter 6 random numbers and you will get a message that the code was incorrect.
Long press home and choose alogcat app. In the data, it shows what your msl is.

Yes. Do this. It worked for me. You don't even need EPST.
1. Plug your phone into your computer.
2. Open a command line (assuming you have installed the sdk and all that good stuff.)
3. Type
adb shell getprop
and adb will spit out a long list of information. Look through it for
ril.msl 123456
Of course yours won't say 123456 -it will have your 6 digit msl.
Or...
You should be able to download
Terminal Emulator for free from the market.
Open it.
Type in...
su
Hit enter. Type in...
getprop
Should do the same. I will test and see and report back.
Yep. This is definitely the easiest way. Just did it.

Just tried it, super simple. Just follow the above's instructions and look for ril.msl
I just use connectbot from the market.
open it and select local from the drop down menu in the bottom left and type whatever into the nickname field. I usually type pigpoptart.
then type su and hit enter
then type getprop ril.MSL and hit enter
your msl should be the 6 digit number underneath
make sure you capitalize the MSL part

We'll get right on it. NOT
You can do it for free. Run alogcat then type a dialer code that will require msl purposely type in the wrong msl. Then search the logcat for msl and you will find it.

Can u let me know the Other way how can i get the MSL Of HTC ONE (Sprint)
Because a problem with an app and supersu right after entering the Sim pin, I'd need to post a logcat dump, but honestly I never did it.
How can I do that?
Does logcat contains private information like imei, tel numbers contact and so on?

Logcat doesnt give any private information away and it is done via the adb command:
adb logcat > log.txt
This will save the logcat to log.txt file. Or there is a tool in the Sensation Themes and Apps section that gets logcats easyily - search for it

You could run "logcat > log.txt" (ignoring the quotes) from a terminal on the phone.
Make sure you go to a sensible directory first so you know where it's been saved. I'd suggest "cd /sdcard".

You know, you can easily flash a custom splash screen without any of this stuff.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1814075
now that is alot easier
thanks for the great direction

To get a decent answer, it may be best for you to run a logcat.
Folks the best way to help with device issues is to post a logcat.
The Android logging system provides a mechanism for collecting and viewing system debug output. Logs from various applications and portions of the system are collected in a series of circular buffers, which then can be viewed and filtered by the logcat command. You can use logcat from an ADB shell to view the log messages.
For complete information about logcat options and filtering specifications, see Reading and Writing Logs.
For more information on accessing logcat from DDMS, instead of the command line, see Using DDMS.
Syntax
[adb] logcat [<option>] ... [<filter-spec>] ...
You can run logcat as an adb command or directly in a shell prompt of your emulator or connected device. To view log output using adb, navigate to your SDK platform-tools/ directory and execute:

Here are 2 excellent XDA threads explaining Logcat "How to"
[Tutorial] How To Logcat <<< explains how.
[GUIDE] Installing ADB/SDK and How to make a logcat
Or, this app from the market can allow you to create one direct from your device>>> aLogcat ROOT
While we can say we have problems, we (the community) are by no means Android mind readers
So help others, help you... logcat, it may help save the life of another frantic flasher :good:
The Rom was 855 minus 5.
hello to all, i will explane exactly what i try to do, in order for you to be able provide me the best answer.
i got a nexus 5 few days ago, its the d820 model. the lte is not working in my region, i found a guide who show how to change the lte bands from usa to europe. thats the guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/radio-enable-lte-band-3-nexus-5-d820-t2928561
in the step where i should go into nexus 5 field test mode app, i go to app, choose the lte and then edit, and then my phone ask me for a service code.
i start look for what is this code he ask me after reading little i understand it something called MSL code.
i look alot on how to get this code, i try all kind of methods and codes to find it, try to download app to check it, non worked, i get no number.
any one know how can i get it?
Tricky. Why didn't you get a d821?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
because i didnt know all that.
but i see this method work for other ppl, when they do what that post say it give them the msl code, and then they move on to other steps and it working for them.
why isnt it working for me?
ok i solved it. here is what i did if some1 else got this problem:
you need adb ofc.
i downgarded to android 4.4
then i root it.
install the app "nexus 5 test field mode"
then open CMD on widows, go to ADB folder, type "adb logcat"
at this point cmd will write all kind of things.
now open nexus 5 test field go to LTE the edit , after press edit logcat will show u the MSL of your phone.
it will look something like this:
D/QC_RIL_OEM_HOOK(18638): sendOemRilRequestRaw returns value = 10
V/LG_SVC_ITEMS(18638): length =6 responseBytes=REMOVED itemValue=******
D/LG_SVC_ITEMS(18638): getCommands commandId 200 = ******-END
D/LG_SVC_CMD(18638): itemID = 200, Value = ******
the ******* is where ur code will show up.
NOTE: there are much easyer ways to do that, i did all above only after all other things i tryed faild.
