I managed to purchase some watch faces that were previously not available to non Samsung devices. Have Samsung note allowed those with non Samsung phones to buy apps?
I had to register a credit card with them, but it was easy.
Using lion gate watch face at the moment, was £0.98
Seems like a good news for non-Samsung users Which phone are you using?
Seeing paid apps in the gear app store on my LG V10 and have access to prevously bought stuff as well.
Edit: Tested purchasing as well and worked fine.

Were you able to able to register your credit card on Gear App itself or did you have to do it somewhere else online?
I have it paired with a Huawei Mate 7 and can only see free apps with no apparent option to add any credit card details.
Thanks.

I managed to register with the Samsung gear app store via the app. Didn't have to register anywhere else.
I had to do it on my computer. I kept getting error messages on the phone.
In my case it never asks for a credit card. I have even tried creating a new account on a PC. It must be geo locked or something of the sort.

Can you download the gear manager in playstore? In my case it started working with payed apps as i could download the gear manager from playstore. As long i used the app offered here in forum i only got free apps.
Sadly there are still free apps i can't see in store, like ntv, kommot or golfcard.

Hi Javan, I always downloaded the gear manager app from the play store. In the meantime I finally got a reply from Samsung and they basically said that paid apps are not supported in my country (Malta).
My problem is that I don't know at which stage this "country check" takes place.
1) Is it when I am creating the Samsung account? In this case I would be able to use a VPN workaround when creating a new account.
2) Is it when I download the Samsung gear app from the Play store? In this case I will need to root my phone and use a market unlocker.
3) Is it when I am accessing the Tizen store? In this case I have no idea ... it would be too cumbersome to workaround this [emoji22]
One way or another there has to be a workaround, I just want to avoid rooting the phone as much as possible.
If anyone has any ideas or managed to access paid apps in the store from a non-supported country, I would be forever grateful if you can share your solution.

Was watching a video on YouTube of the learning hub app and was wandering if anyone had heard if it would be included in the American version of Samsung software at some point. Looks like another great application that utilizes multi screen, but with a new twist in linking the timing of the two applications. Would really like to know if anyone has any info on this.

It's provided in India version I'm sure. And for other version, you can download it from samsung apps.

Well, when I tried to download it I got a message saying that Product does not exist in the store. It appears the application that shows up in the search is for the galaxy note phone. Don't know if anybody has successfully downloaded this app but I would be interested to hear if you had.

Okay to get the learning hub app (honestly I didn't find anything useful in it but it might be for others) through Samsung apps here's what you need to do:
1. If you have a Samsung account on your tablet, remove it
2. Clear data and cache from your Samsung apps
3. Go to your Samsung apps, create a new account but list your country as United Kingdom
4. Create a new Samsung account and also list your country as United Kingdom (I suggest to open a new email account or if you have an old email address you don't use anymore/often and register your UK Samsung account with, note that you're gonna have to confirm it through a link that they will send to you via email
5. Login with your UK Samsung account and viola, download the app and enjoy it.
The app will require you to sign in with your UK Samsung account ,which I found annoying, so I removed the account from my tablet. I might mess with it later to see what all the fuss is about! I hope this helps
Hey guys, just got my note N8000 and i realize that i dont have learning hub installed, i am from philippines, do i need to install this app or should this app be included when i purchased my note? Oh and i also dont have the s suggest app

Well - I downloaded and installed just to see. The only log in options are "Email and Password" or "Mobile phone and PIN". I don't see fingerprint as an option anywhere....
It has apparently been hacked, so perhaps for the better.

Yes. you are right.
From 3 days ago..
PayPal announced that its fingerprint-based authentication system was live in 25 countries. Users will be able to authenticate their digital purchases on PayPal by swiping down on the home button. The idea is a novel way of extending the functionality offered by the fingerprint sensor. However, it looks like all carriers are not going to have this feature enabled. Droid-Life discovered that the PayPal authentication feature was disabled in Verizon’s version of the Galaxy S5. It is unclear as to why Verizon would disable this functionality, given that it is the only carrier who seems to have removed this feature. users trying to install a fingerrint-based authentication client on Verizon’s Galaxy S5 are being shown a message that says “this application will not work on your device.”"
Accessing the stock "Samsung Apps" through the "Galaxy App" widget directs to a completely different, unsearchable store. Why why why Samsung? See Attached screenshots (one searchable, one not)
To clarify the steps that I used to install Paypal, and link fingerprinter verification to it,
1> To get an actual searchable Samsung App Store, download the "Samsung Apps Mobile" from the phone via www.samsungapps.com or HERE (This BS is what was holding me up)
2> Install the PayPal app via the Samsung App Store (first uninstall the Paypal app if previously installed via Google Play Store)
3> Search and install NNL from the Samsung App Store
4> Open Paypal>Settings>Login Options>Register Fingerprint.
Not sure if this is going to work, but here are some backup .apk's I just made from my phone, and put em on Google Drive.
Searchable Samsung App Store APK
PayPal App from the Samsung Apps Store
Nok Nok NNL app
Great... Step by step. It's succeed.. :good::good:
Just got done doing this. I can confirm this worked on my Verizon s5! Thanks!
Did NNL find a way around it not working or did Verizon change their minds?

I wouldn't hold your breath on getting an explanation as to why it seemed clearly being blocked before, but a work around is now available. I never personally observed an active blocking to install the NNL app as documented on several sites, I simply wasn't able to search for the app that ties the fingerprint function to Paypal, and by the time I found the NNL app in the Samsung App store(not found in Google Play Store), I ran into no problems installing it.
Yes it works perfectly.

Open either of the links this post, FROM YOUR PHONE, and you'll be directed to where you can install the Samsung Apps store. Then from that installed Samsung App Store, you'll be able to search for both Paypal and NNL, and install the apps. Both apps need to be installed from the Samsung store, NOT Google Play.
Or if you prefer, HERE is a link to the Samsung App Store apk on my Google Drive. You may need to enable "unknown sources" in Settings>Security first.

Your best bet would be to peruse the TMobile S5 threads, and find someone willing to backup the apk from their rooted S5, and see if you can download and install it. If you can, I'm sure many more would be grateful if you can then post a link over here too. Thanks
I updated the install instructions post HERE. I was able to create installable backup apk's from my Verizon phone of the apps needed, and host em on Google Drive.
Thanks
So T-Mobile S5 is rooted? And why we are not?

I've read there is a multitude of apps already available for Gear 2. From knowyourmobile.com: " eBay, Expedia, News Republic, CNN, Conde Nast, Sleep Genius and Runtastic are all currently available on Samsung's Tizen OS". I've read there's a paypal app for it as well. In the gear manager there's only like 20 apps (many of them are college themed watch faces for $2). Am I missing something?...
I would have thought would all be in the Samsung apps but looking and a search in there im not seeing paypal or sleep genius in there

I see sleep genius but it wont install, I get a WO:WO Failure.
I saw the app late last night, sent developer email but haven't heard back and still won't install on my GS4
FWIW, if you go to the Samsung App Store (not the Gear specific one), there is a newer version of Paypal here vs. what's in the Google Play store. I installed it but I didn't see anything Paypal related on my Gear 2. So maybe it's only used by select merchants or the Gear interface is only utilized for certain scenarios? I would think we would have a Gear specific Paypal app, but I'm new to all this so not really sure. Just found it odd that Samsung has a newer version vs. the Google Play store.
Yes. Like stated above. The trick is to open gear manager. Go to samsung apps and search from there. There are just a handful. Sleep genius is one of them

It was there, but anymore. I didn't think it did a good job. I set the alarm to 6am and when I go back to the home screen and then back to the app, the alarm shows 815pm. Think they pulled it to fix it or something.

they are releasing a full featured app on May 1st with lots of stuff including tracking and other goodies per comments from the devs. as it stood it was nothing more than a white noise streamer more or less. I'm not entirely sure why they released that version as it wasn't very useful. They are aware and the full app should be awesome.

I know milk music isn't available for non Samsung phones, but shouldn't there be a way to install it on the Samsung watch? It seems like the watch is partially crippled by me having a non Samsung device.
Does anyone know of a way?
@paoloroeseke, were you ever able to find an answer to this? I just purchased an S2 and I haven't been able to find anything on this; only how to install Milk Music onto my phone. Thanks!
use a file manager to sideload it. Same thing for any geo-restricted app. If you plan on using those geo-apps regularly, do like me, create a new Google account with some us address, then use a VPN when you want to download restricted apps while switching to that american account. I've been doing that for years and have never had any problem, then only thing you need, at least I did, is a deposit of US funds. I simply bought a 10$ Google Play card from ebay.
@polish_pat,
I actually live in the US, I just do not have a Samsung phone. Milk music is only accesible via the Play/Gear stores on samsungs. I have filesmaster, i just cant seem to locate a Milk Music .wgt file to push over. Would you by chance know of (or have) one I could try?

You will not be able to sideload the app on non samsung devices. MilkMusic is a re-skinned Slacker Radio app. It requires some Samsung frameworks only available on Galaxy devices. This is a deal they have signed with Slacker in order to reduce ads and interruptions for free users and reduce monthly cost for premium users. I know there are some mods that either reskin the slacker app to look like milk or trick the app to emulate a galaxy, but those have been killed by Samsung overtime. Still worth giving it a shot, check out the link below

Don't bust your balls with that, I have a Note 5 and have issues with milk on my gear as well, I can't even imagine a non-samsung user. My problem is my location. I'm able to trick the phone to play milk in Canada, but the watch keeps asking to install "com.samsung.mdl.radio.gear.providero" but when it launches galaxy apps it says the app is not available for my device. It seems to be geo-restricted and somehow the watch is able to see through my VPN.
As for your issue, let me try and pull the file from my watch if I find a free filemanager as I don't have any credit card on file with my samsung account.

I have the same issue. I live in Korea and have a Korean S5 and an American Gear 2S. I use a VPN for my Milk Music, but I get an error trying to install the helper. There is actually a different version of Milk Music here simply called Milk. Since I am defaulted to the Korean Gear Apps store anyways, I even tried installing their version of the helper which requires their version of Milk as well. The helper installs fine but when I get to the Milk install it also fails citing that I do not have an official samsung firmware on my phone.......go figure. Anyways, I haven't given up on trying yet, and if you find a fix before me, please let me know. I will do the same for you. I have thought of trying to do a rest on the watch while at home with my router running the VPN/DNS and also not allowing any location until after attemping. But I worry that because my phone defaults to the Korean Galaxy App Store( and I tried many ways around it, bottom line it is a Korean phone) I will be doing it in vain.

Dont bother when I set up my watch I was in the United States for 2 weeks after that. My guess is it's not seeing through the vpn, or location but more the Samsung Account info. Same thing happened when i bought a pair of multiroom speakers a few years back...the multiroom app prevented me to use Pandora within the multiroom app while streaming to all speakers that were paired. What's funny is as soon as I closed the multiroom app and launched the pandora app on its own, it worked, but i had to stream by Bluetooth to one speaker only. Something tells me they use the account info to filter us

I finally got it. I decided to give it a shot and it worked. i threw my wife's SiM card US Sim card in and was able to access the US store and download the helper. Once it is installed you can go back to using Milk with the VPN and all is well with the helper app and using the watch to control it. If you are able to find a US sim card, it doesn't matter the status of the card as long as it is a US sim card.

Got the same problem, with HTC One M9 + Gear s2...
The reason is, that the Samsung App Store has an own payment method instead of goole play store's method...
At the moment, you cant pay for samsung app on a non-samsung device, so it doesnt listing the paid apps, only the free ones...
BUT: today, i've signed in with my accounnt on a samsung mobile device (galaxy 24 mini), paired my watch, paid some apps, installed it.
when i have paired it back again with my M9, the installed apps disappeared (soft reset when pairing a deivce), and the apps that i paid on a samsung device, still doesnt appears on the M9 store
Just an idea, tried it out, but doesnt work
is there any way, to save the app from the watch (when i bought is, and installed it from a samsung device), and re install it (with the saved installer) from the non-samsung device?

I imagine there are technical problems for Samsung to make paid apps open to all, but it can't be an insurmountable problem, and it would be good for consumers and developers if they opened the paid apps to non-Samsung phones. Samsung is a giant corporation and so not particularly easy to contact or persuade, but I wonder if developers started a petition that might help persuade Samsung to fix this situation.
I've got a oneplus one - just wondering if they're are any worthwhile paid apps that I'm missing out on?

It mainly depends on what you want to do with your watch. I bought the app My Notes in Gear. It let's you create notes and task lists on your phone and sync these with your watch. I am also using komoot which is a free app but didn't show in the Gear store with a non Samsung phone. For me it was reason enough to switch the phone...
I am not hundred percent sure. I was having the same issue (not a big deal as I also had a Samsung phone, so I switched). When utilizing a Samsung phone, there are way more free applications and the paid applications are accessible too. Also, I believe the store has a slightly different layout.
I read somewhere that said someone contacted Samsung. They replied saying that they were working on a fix, but the reason was that they weren't able to accept payments (or some other payment issue) on non-Samsung devices.
I am sure it will be fixed soon. Hold tight!
If I connect my gear s2 to a Samsung phone to get access to paid apps and watchfaces and download them to the watch will they still be there when I switch back to my non Samsung phone?
I'm mainly talking about watch faces at this time. It seems like all the good digital ones are hidden to me now.
And maybe ultimately a good thing, but with the most recent Gear app update (for your phone), the layout of the app changed, and I noticed a recommended app at the bottom that wouldn't install. I suspect this app (can't recall which one) was an app that Samsung phone users can install, and the rest of us can't. My theory is this was either an outright error, or may portend non-Samsung phone users eventually getting access to at least more apps, if not paid apps.
