Battery life - Samsung Gear S2

Hi can I ask what kind of battery life are you guys getting?
I've had my classic for about 2 weeks and i cant get a full day out of it. This along with a very unreliable notification system is making me very frustrated I'm thinking about just returning this warch.
This was aan open box item from best buy but i already did a full reset and keep having issues with notifications not showin up and sometimes like today about 6 or 7 hours of battery life before it completely dies.
Thanks for any suggestions
Vinny

Thanks I guess this one is just a lemon maybe that was why it was an open box in the first place.
It will go back tomorrow, a shame it's a nice design and i liked it but it is unusabkes as it is now.

I have the same issues with unreliable notifications, but mine was purchased from T mobile. i have read about this as a common issue. Battery life has always been good.

I read somewhere that completely uninstalling the gear app and doing a factory reset helps with the notifications. I did that today and auddenly my whattsapp notification started ahowing up.
I will tes it for a couple of more days befora making a final decision about keeping it or returning it (taking adavantage of best buys extebded holiday return terms until jan)
Thanks

I get 3 at a squeeze 4, but not 24/7, but I use it for 12-14hrs and switch it off at night.
No sleep function so no point keeping it on.
Shame my Gear 2 got 5 days 24/7 at squeeze

No as in nearly running out of battery.
My basic setings are - BT/WIFI on, Brightness to 4, Screen sensor off, no power saving, HR set to moderate, every notification on (about 21 in total), screen time out 15 secs, but all standard watch faces, as I always find the 3rd party one (in Mr Time) suck you battery.
Still trying to find a way to stop the pedometer, as the Gear 2 it is useless and incorrect and I find consumes battery.

I turn on my classic at 8am and by 8pm I still have over 60% battery, consistently. Connected by bt. Wifi and NFC turned off. Power saving mode is off. Max brightness. Mostly using it for time and notifications only though (no music, video, or games on the watch usually)

I lose about 50% over 24 hours. I keep it on at night and use it as my morning alarm. I charge when getting ready for bed. Always go to bed with 100% and end the day with 50% +/- 5%.
I haven't had any problems with notifications. The S2 always vibrates immediately after my phone receives a notification.

Ok sorry for being mute dor a couple of days but i wanted to make sure before I posted my update:
After doing (yet) another facto3y reset of the gear AND uninstallong the gear app in my note 4 ... the change is astounding, literally night and day!!!
I'm now getting at least two full days of battery on the watch. Notificatioa are for the most part working as expected.
I guess the gear app was stuck doing something with the phone and was causing the battery drain and by uninstalling it the peoblem went away.
I'm really happy now... and to think I was "this" close to returning my gear classic.
I'm a happy camper now

this is pretty awesome
Battery time
Low usage 7 days*
Normal usage, 3-4 days*
*Watch always on
Fully charged and detached charger around 6am on Thursday. At 11:30am on Sunday the battery icon is around half way through. The watch has been on all that time and connected to my Z1.

Fully charged it until Saturday morning unplugged it at 09:00.
During Saturday a lot of playing around checking out different apps when finally settle for the following:
Calc by Pacosal
Dialer by Eir3
Send SMS by Eir3
Log for Smartwatch by Eir3
WatchIt! by Jonas Pettersson
WebBrowser by Vaggan (For fun, not very useful, but so cool to browse on the phone!!)
SmartWeather by Alexander Zakharyan
Poweramp Control Pro by Vasily Kiniv
Call handling, Messages and Calendar reminder by Sony
Endomondo is also there as I have Endomondo Pro
Also bought Augmented Smartwatch Pro by Augmented Views, but there is a bit of a learning curve on that one, too much information on the display and too little information on how to get what you really want on the display.
Used it to control PowerAmp for a while, played with it quite a lot on Saturday.
Left it on the whole night without charging it.
Today I got up at 08:40, and been using it to control the music while I was out driving, This afternoon I was out walking for one hour checking Endomondo on the Watch regulary.
Now at 15:00 I still have 50% battery left, so I'd say this looks promising.
I don't have a problem charging overnight each day, but it is nice to know how good it is on battery.
i get 5 days of use easily, with normal use, i do switch the watch off at night, because i don't want it to wake me if i get a mail in the middle of the night
i would like it tho, if the watch gets turned off, my phone changes profile, so it rings with the watch switched off, but doesnt when the watch is turned on and connected
2 and a half solid days
after approx 54 hours I got a 15% warning and 5 hours later a 10% warning

I get 2 days without swithching it off too. This is kinda dissapointing since sony claims 3-4 and even 6 days lith light use.
I use my sw2 with sgs2, i wonder if thats relevant to the battery life.
Another thing ive noticed, I get almnost no diference in bat life when disabling vibrations, changing brightness and stopping notifications. Basicaly i get 2 days with heavy use and 2 days with light use.
Maybe this means most of the battery is drained via BT?

I'm on my 3rd day with galaxy note 3 on light use I mainly use it with my poweramp music player and mainly for emails texting and calls etc. My battery is halfway right now. I turn it off when I go sleep. Not because I don't want to waste battery but who checks the time while they sleep on a watch who wears a watch to sleep with to begin with. And when you sleep it would vibrate on ya arm? Then what you wake up at 2a.m. to check a message? Yea ok in conclusion the life is pretty good and worth it.

Overall, it's pretty normal especially if you don't turn it off at night, some differences in battery life among smartphones could be due to different BT radio and stack, possible BT power saving features, and, at a less extent but not least, the medium distance between the SW2 and the phone.

Battery drain?

Hi fellow Nexus owners.
I've noticed recently (past month or so) that my phone's battery life has taken what seems to be a significant hit. I was getting around 15 hours on a charge with light to moderate use. I am now consistently getting 10 hours or a little more.
I'm running 4.4.4 stock, WiFi on, GPS = high accuracy, and have used both ART (current) and Davlik with roughly the same results. I'm a bit disconcerted by the higher battery use by Android System and Google Play Services.
I contacted Google, and was offered warranty replacement. However, I'm not sure it's worth it. How does this compare with your battery performance? Is it expected for an 8 month old device? Thanks for your input.
one important thing, how much screen on time do you get? as how long the phone last between charges doesnt say anything, as we all use our devices differently. for example, i only see about 7-10 hours, but im a heavy user, that sees about 5 hours screen on time.
Go to the battery help thread in my signature.... Read the first 4 posts. If you need help still, post the recommended screen shots from post 4. ?

2.5 is normal, on the low side, but normal. 1, yuck!
Turn your brightness down! i keep mine about 15-20% most the time. when i raise it to 35-40%, ill get 30-60 minutes screen on time less. also, wifi, bluetooth, turn them on only when you need them. speaking of wifi, go to you wifi settings, hit the 3 dots in the bottom right, press advanced, then disable scanning always available. this will keep your wifi really off when you turn it off. otherwise google uses it to look for your location, even when you turn it off.

Do your methods help 100% of the people that follow your guidelines? Just accept that the battery is only 2300mhz so by tweaking a few settings would maybe add in an hour of juice give or take. Believe me, I have tried everything suggested, and have owned this device since release, the battery is Underpowered when used to power up a 5 inch, 1080p screen. You won't find anyone saying the battery is way too overpowered.

i do zero tweaking really, and get around 5 hours screen on time. all i do is run rastakat/trinity, keep crappy apps off my device, set up my device right, keep my brightness lower mostly, and i live in great coverage with great lte data speeds.

If you get 1 to 2 hours screen time.... You either have a defective battery. A very poor signal while in data. Or a really bad draining issue from an app or something.
That isn't normal.... And is well below the average. Well below the low end of the average. And that's average with everything on... Every feature.
But OK.... You win. I'll shut up about it. ?

And yes.... If you follow every single tip and piece of advice on post 2 in the battery help thread.... And don't game and your signal is decent.... You have to at least get 5 hours SOT.... At least.

Or you have a wakelock Issue... Another reason why it would be any less.

I have noticed exactly the same thing for around a month, and Google Play Services now constantly appears on my battery stats. I was fairly convinced it's an issue with the Google Play Services 6.1.xx update as I was getting this wakelock:
wake:com.google.android.gms/.auth.be.proximity.authorization.userpresence.UserPresenceService
Googling it reveals little.
As an example, at the moment my phone has been off charge for 26 hours with 1 hour 40 mins screen time and is at 10% battery. That might not seem too bad but I have a screenshot from around a month ago where I had 49 hours off charger with 4 hours 2 mins screen time. Like you, 4.4.4 completely stock unrooted.
I'm going to see if the imminent Lollipop upgrade magically fixes it else it'll be a factory reset for me as I've given up finding a cause.

S6 and Gear S2 - Battery

Just started using my watch not my mobile and getting allot of battery drain, my S6 was at 72% 4 hours later at 27%.
Recall with my Gear 2 a similar issue but after a series of firmware updates was all fine.
Same config here, and I don't have this problem. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised to find my S6 doesn't seem to drain battery significantly faster. Haven't done any precise measure though.
I would say you have some problem in one of the bricks of the Gear plugin / apop store / bluetooth link, that makes an app constantly trying to connect or to do something it can't, draining battery in the process.
Also, maybe you have disabled some apps that are needed by the combo S2/S6? Like Samsung account, etc.
Gear S2 Classic Battery Drain
I just got my Gear S2 Classic three days ago and am disappointed with the battery life... lasts maybe 15 hours with the screen set to 3. I'm working with online tech support but definitely disappointed considering my LG G R (one year old technology) has a battery life twice that of the Gear S2 right now.... surely there's a battery drain issue.

I'm using Sport version for about month and what you wrote is strange. Minimum use is solid one day, but usually I'm getting 1.5-2 days of use and with screen always on. Try disable WIFI and NFC and check if this helped.
No all standard configuration as I prefer to do that first and then start tailoring. S6 now down to 37% - last night it went flat (use my S6 as an alarm clock).
On the plus side S2 been on since 6AM only gesture on set to offer - Battery 66% not bad if I can get two full real days.
But not as good as my Gear 2 that did 25% a day.
Have left WIFI on just to start from a standard baseline. Watch is always on BT, assuming only switches if BT signal lost.

How did it go? I'm having similar issues. Dying at about 13 hours with light usage and mostly everything turned off (gps, wifi, s voice) screen brightness set to 2. My gear s gave much me many more hours with everything turned on.
I installed the linear digital clock face £1 on the watch face gallery, and my S6 edge+ brought up a message stating that I should Uninstal or stop the app as it was using a high percentage of my Phone battery, like nearly as much as screen on usage, guess it was using the phones GPS and weather too frequently Uninstalled and all well again, don't know if this helps

I have the same problem as the op. My S6 edge battery is draining faster than before. Since the last week with the Gear S2 paired to the phone my battery doesn’t make it through the day even with very light use (screen 20mins on time).
The thing is I think I had this problem start a couple of days before I received the Gear S2. Could it be after some app updates?
I never had any updates only change was the S2
Have done a S2 reset still the same, have to charge at work and in the car otherwise by morning battery is nearly dead.

My S6 edge has been on for 5 hours without any use today and is down to 70% already. If this continues I might try a hard reset on both phone and watch.
Found out why I got battery drain. Phone was connecting to 5Ghz on dual band router which drains battery fast. Switched it over to 2.4Ghz and everything is fine now.

It's going a LOT better but I no longer use the 'always on' face either.
I reset the watch:
1. Power off the device. 2. Hold down the Home button until you see the Samsung logo with the rebooting message. 3. Tap the Home button until you get to the BIOS menu. 4. Tap the Home button to highlight "Recover" and long press. Please note that this will take about 5 minutes.
I have always on face off, brightness set to 4, bluetooth on, wifi off and nfc off. This morning I put on the watch at 6AM, it's now 3:45PM and I'm at 78% so that's about ten hours with 22 percent discharged so 2.2% an hour so realistically at this rate it'll last about 45 hours which is acceptable to me. I don't understand how you would get 2-1/2 days though.

Q 1: How long does the battery last? Q2: does it have wireless charging?

Hi
I am thinking of buying the phone. But battery is a real concern for me (my last good phone battery wise was Z2. Since then I had the LG G4 and currently on a temp phone the HTC M7 whose batteries are horrendous).
I am almost pulling the trigger on this phone but those two concerns are quite important for me.
Thank you,

Hey on a mixed general use with 4g .You would get screen on time between 3.5 to 4 hrs. If on wifi full day 4.5 - 5 hrs Sot.

Battery life test
Battery isn't as bad as i expected it to be from all the comments I heard. It's about the same with Iphone 7 Plus that i have. It dropped about 3% overnight without charging. As for use, I haven't tested it out with intense game like pokemongo but general use it dropped about 10% every hour and a half.
Standby time is good. However, practical use without the stamina mode and my battery is already at 60% at 12 noon. This is with Wifi on; bluetooth off, location off. It's dreadful but not the end of the world. Hopefully it will settle down with time.
Edit: My phone is 2 days old.

How do you get over 5 hours of screen on time? for me on average android OS and android system take up 20-25% of the battery.
Not only on this phone but on my previous Note 7 and S7 edge too!
@dpbg, @Gkstates , @junedkaka thank you for the quick reply. I can't believe sony reduced the battery life on the phone.
Do any of you know if there is wireless charging?

Standby time is good. However, practical use without the stamina mode and my battery is already at 60% at 12 noon. This is with Wifi on; bluetooth off, location off. It's dreadful but not the end of the world. Hopefully it will settle down with time.
Edit: My phone is 2 days old.

That 5 hr screen on time was on wifi and continous use almost over a period of 10 hours
I dont have a type C wireless charger to test it with so I'm not sure. I think battery is okay with general use. I text, check email, browse web throughout the day and it usually lasts me until 7 or 8 pm.

That's ok. i'm on office wifi all day with intermittent breaks. cell reception is also decent. So not sure why I'm getting only around 2 hours of SOT.
My battery life isn't a patch on my iPhone 6S+.
Web browsing over WiFi slays it.
How long does the battery take to charge? Mine seems really slow, plugged it in an hour ago, and its only gone up 2%

Is it possible to have more 4/5h sot with 4000mah ?!

Hi all !
Small question, is it possible to have more than 4/5 hours of screen with this phone? I'm on beta 18 (but it was the same with my stable 10.0.8) but have a pretty high battery drain without really understanding why (no heavy app use) ...
I would like to switch to Lineage, do you think I could have some improvement? I had also tested the Elemental X kernel on the stable and it worked well, the two combined would be okay?

I've had this device since last Thursday. Most I have done is root it. And disable a few stock apps. No mods no tricks. Bluetooth enabled for my Sammy watch. Wifi cause I'm on a crappy network I'll show you tomorrow I've already plugged in for the night

Crappy network and Bluetooth are the reasons. I used to get 4.5-6hrs of screen on time when I used to use bluetooth all the time. I switched to wired headphones and Now I get 7-10hrs depending on my usage.

I did mostly google apps so far. I'm still under setup and tweaking I just barely got the device. Had to flash back and forth. Tmobile sim unlock. And now I'm kinda setup and I'm averaging it seems about 5 hours. With about 40 % left.
Beta 19, 2k, 90hz, no tweak or anything except using greenify, battery saver is always off, auto brightness on, double sim card, no wifi or bluetooth usage, I use every app on dark mode, no gaming, daily use + watching full hd or 2k videos for an hour or more a day and I get 6-7 hours screen time. The phone is 10 months old
