Systemui crashing due to DPI change - General Questions and Answers

Running barebonez 5.0.1 (which is basically similar to stock just slimmed down deodexed zipaligned and such, for the galaxy tab a sm_t350. Rooted and xposed framework installed, tried using textdroider dpi changer as I usually do with most of my devices, except on reboot systemui crashes when I tried 140 or 120, had to switch it back to 160 which looks kind of ugly in m opinion. Seen people had issue similar to this on other devices but I couldn't find a solution other than changing it back. Any ideas or assistance would be greatly appreciated!

May reinstall the original rom stock can resolve your problem CMIIW

Tried installing another stock based rom and still not able to go below 160 dpi. Anyone know a way around this. The system ui looks so clunky

boot loop after font installer app

please help, someone.
I'm stuck in a boot loop after using font installer. I have rooted JB.
Just took back a tablet today to best buy for same thing. I thought tablet was bad. Apparently, it's "font installer" app. Used it before on rooted ICS, no problem. Now, my 14 hour old infinity is looping. Please help.
Soft brick recover method might be working this time, but the "Font Installer" app is causing a lot of problems. Probably best to stay away from it.
Hey Friend,
I am Master Ramy, part of the Support Team for Jrummy Apps Inc, the company behind Rom Toolbox Pro and Font Installer.
What font did you attempt to install?
If your font changes are causing bootloops, chances are that you are overwriting the wrong fonts. Please open the Font Installer and click Menu > Preferences > Select Fonts.
If you’re running Android 4.0 ICS, or 4.1 Jellybean, make sure Roboto-regular.ttf is selected
If you’re running Android 3.X or earlier, make sure DroidSans.ttf is selected
If you’re running MIUI, make sure Arial.ttf is selected
Before attempting any customization, we recommend that users have a recent nandroid backup in case anything goes wrong. There are always ways to fix these issues, there should be no need to return your device.
Finally, I strongly encourage you to contact us with any questions or when you run into any problems, so that we can help you out Feel free to post our responses to the XDA community if needed.
Thanks!

Wrong permission
I had the similar issue when I tried to RESTORE fonts with "Font Installer". It seems that font installer was not setting proper permissions of font files after restore.
I connected my device in recovery mode and chown'ed the font files back to root:root (instead of system:sdcard_r) through shell and it solved the issue.

Click to collapse
I think installing a custom recovery will make that annoying intro go away

[Q] Default Screen DPI?

I downloaded an app called Kernel Tweaker. I then went to the edit build.prop section and I changed the Screen DPI to 226. After I rebooted my icons were extra large and SystemUI kept crashing. No navigation bars were present either.
So I wanted to know the default DPI so that I can edit build.prop from my PC and recover my device...
I have a GT-N8010 running stock Touchwiz KitKat 4.4.2, rooted...

[Q] LCD density will not change!

Hi there... recently Flashed 5.1, rooted my device then went ahead and tried to change the DPI like I always do after a flash and its not working...
I have tried setting the value ro.sf.lcd_density to 400 and it wont register.
The setting has definately been modified when i review the build file...
I have tried various apps that change DPI too and none of them work
Any ideas?

Force Nova Launcher (or APEX) on a stock RK3XX based Stock Rom (Fiio X5 III)

Hey all I have a FIIO X5 III, that has an mode option whats called "pure android mode" which requires the stock launcher. I dislike the stock launcher and want to use Nova or Apex. The option to change default launchers has been disabled in the stock rom settings. The stock rom is 5.1.1 based, and I have already rooted the device.
Can someone help lead me to the proper settings inside the rom xml files, or in build properties etc., that would allow me to force replace the stock launcher. I am so stumped after trying everything so far. Since its 5.1.1 I was hoping someone has a lost historic tweak that I could use.
The rom has already been deodoxed, but when I just try and replace the stock rom (rename to launcher.bak), with Nova or Apex (renamed to launcher, and fix permissions with root explorer), it just FC's repeatedly.
Thanks
I can post the full rom is someone needs that as reference
