I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS TO YOUR DEVICE AND YOU CANNOT LATER BLAME ME.
Hey guys
This is my first post. I dont have experience in writing these guides but if u like it then give a thanks for sure.
I have found many people facing this problem that there is no .img recovery file for their device and they can't/dont wanna flash it by pc.
In such a case theres no need to worry as this is android and almost everything is possible.
Required things:
1.Root acces
2. 7zip(or any alternative)
3.Flashify(or any alternative)
4.Recovery file of your device(the .md5 one)
Steps:
1.First of all download the recovery file for your device and transfer it to your pc if you downloaded it in mobile.
2.Now install 7zip in your pc.
3.Now using this app simply click on the downloaded recovery file(.md5 one) and open it.
4.Now,extract the .img file from there using 7zip.
5.And, you will find the .img file that you were in need for.
6.Now simply copy it to your device and using flashify flash it.
7.Voila! U have a custom recovery now.
Note:To be bootloop free using terminal is the best way to flash a file.
How to use flashify?

Check this out guys! You can now use file manager without booting Android! And yes, just flash the zip and you can start managing your files (cut, copy, paste, rename, create new folder, etc.)! One more awesome thing is it supports touch screen cheers!
Requirements:
Root
Working CWM
Steps:
Go to the link below
Download the zip
Boot into CWM recovery
Flash the zip
And that's it! You can now manage your files without booting Android!

Great, but your explanation not help so much. Could you give more details?
How it works with CWM installed?
Have you a dual boot?

Okay, you need CWM for this.
-boot into CWM recovery
-flash the zip, the file explorer will start.
It can do anything like other file explorers (cut, copy, paste, rename, create new folder, etc.) You don't need dual boot for this.

you beat me to it
yeap i installed it and its awsome ,next version should have permissions and info on long press and maybe more...i would also like the option to launch it from recovery without flashing it every time ...integration with recovery
ok i am trying to put the aeon rom on my infuse, it is rooted with cwm installed. i downloaded the rom from this site , went thru the whole google drive thing and all.ok it downloaded in winrar format , so i created a folder and renamed it zip and put on desktop and then transfered to internal memory on phone. ok i rebooted to cwm , did the wipes like it said then went to install zip from sd, it found the zip and when i selected it it showed all the files in the folder, data,meta-inf,scripts sd card, system ,updates and install busybox. now i am lost as to what to do . do i select these 1 by 1 or did i screw up somewhere before hand.
The file you downloaded should be a zip. Not sure about all the shuffling you did, but you should be able to place the zip you downloaded on your internal sd and flash from recovery. You should not have to do a single thing to the ROM when downloaded other than flash.
Edit...sounds like you were unable to flash the ROM because it was a folder, as opposed to a zip file. Don't pull stuff out of the package, just try changing it from..rar to .zip..then flash.

**** , it keeps downloading as a winrar file , anyway to fix that
ok i did away with my winrar and now have winzip, is that what your talking about or is zip file different, ok looks like i got it now thx alot for the help
Glad you got it. For future flashing, the package you download should be all you need to flash in recovery. No need to pull out files or recreate zips. The devs try to make it easy as possible.

I think your winrar/winzip is just the program.associated with he .zip...i think it was always a .zip...as winzip is not a file...winrar is not a file either...they are just two different programs...

Yes sir i pm him on that...but your correct...
Yes both are programs, however, you need either one if you want to unzip any file or folder!!!
Hello XDA,
because I saw more and more development for our device ( :good: ), I created a simple script for backing up the efs partition.
It is only tested using a GT-I9105P using Cyanogenmod 10.2
Instructions
1. Download the .zip file
2. Extract it
3. Open terminal and "cd" to the directory, where you extracted it.
4. type
Code:
./efs_backup.sh
if you got "rm failed for /sdcard/efs_tmp.img, No such file or directory", just ignore it
5. You can now find a file named "efs_backup_cwm.zip", you can flash it with cwm to restore your efs-partition
Why should I do that?
That's a simple question: Every Rom you flash and every root-app you use could have a simple bug and override/delete your efs-partition
What is the efs-partition?
It's a partition, wich is needed for any device-specific number like IMEI, Wlan-MAC-adress and so on. If it gets deleted/damaged, your mobile
will nothing more than a Mp3-player, unless you can flash back your old efs-partition.
Can you release it for Windows?
No, because I think every android-user should have linux installed on their pc and it doesn't cost anything. I have a dual-boot, too. If you want it on Windows, feel free to port it, it
won't be hard. If you want to install linux, I suggest you a debian-based distribution, because there will be the best support for android.
I WILL NOT ANSWER TO STUPID QUESTIONS!

Hi , just follow the below steps
1 . Extract the rom.zip file (from which is downloaded from sammobile )
2 . You can see a *.tar.md5 file and rename it into *.tar
3 . Extract it using Winrar or something like that .
4 . There is a system.img file . Extract img file using any app from Google ( I am using dsixda's kitchen for that purpose )
5 . Insert the system folder into a custom rom available for it .
6 . You successfully installed it .

There aren't any custom roms for P-905

First part of above advices was ok - assuming ur using Windows, download tar.md5 image, open it in WinRar or 7zip (if it shows an error of improper end of file ignore it - it's caused by md5 checksum concatenated at the end of tar archive, even if not recognized by archiver software, it's not interfering with archive content itself at all) end extract partition images that you want to flash (in your case that would be system.img only).
Now, download and extract this tool:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2446269
and simply drag chosen img file (don't change its name! It shall remain "system.img"! Filename seems to be the only factor telling Odin about which partition he should flash the image!) over a *.bat icon. In a while, system.tar.md5 file will be created (and you can even change its name ;D ) and that is what you wanted.
Thank you for your proper answer!

Today I am sharing how to make cwm flashable zips for like flashing an app, a framework file a bootanimation or anything
You will need a Blank CWM zip
Download from here
http://d-h.st/XCG
Thanks @dev_host
And you will need a nice file manager
I recommend ES file explorer or Root browser
Now after downloading zip
Let think you want to flash an app
Then
1) Extract cwm zip that you downloaded above
2) Dont make any changes to Meta-Inf folder but make another folder System and then in system folder make a folder App ( as you know system apps are placed inside system>app then you have to make same path)
3) place an app into app folder which you want to flash and then archieve the two folders i.e. MetaInf and system into .zip format, compression level - Normal
And its ready now you can flash it by cwm uou can also do it by pc as using 7zip or winrar.
Now if you want to flash and framework then instead of making system >app folders make system>framework similarly if you want to flash any bootanimation
make folder System>media
Now I think you understand what you have to do
