Is the Gear S2 Classic durable? The finish coating.... - Samsung Gear S2

I have the standard dark gray model, but i'm thinking about picking up the classic instead in light of the reported strap issues with the standard model. I can't tell if the finish on the classic is going to be susceptible to chipping and scratching though. I know they're both stainless steel...but the classic appears to just have a high gloss painted finish on it that I worry would eventually start to peel or chip. Can anyone confirm?
thanks.

Had mine for a month and no chipping or scratching on the body of the watch at all. I treat it well though so it hasn't really gone through any real stress testing or rough conditions.

I've been ginger with mine but have had a few questionable calls on my end and the watch is brand new looking, just some accidental banging it into things like you do with something that protrudes from your wrist. I'm buying a skin kit and glass screen protector just for added insurance, I'll tell you how good those are when they come in. I tried the Pebble Steel band on it and it didn't work out too well. I'm getting a different one come monday.

No dents on mine (gym 3 times a week) with some random bumps etc.

Where did you order your skin kit from? I ordered a screen protector and steel band combo off eBay, but couldn't find a skin kit.

It should be pretty durable, it has a ceramic coating on it.

very good durable, good look and very effective.

What color did you guys all get?

I got the silver one with metal strap
Edit: can't add a picture cause the xda app doesn't allow me to add it :/

I went for black with a black silicone strap. I've ordered a different strap from Amazon which is black silicone in a tire tread pattern with metal running through the upper parts of the strap though to make it look a little more interesting.
Heavy Metal
I searched everywhere for the absolute best price and it came down to either the black metal for $150 flat or the black TPU for $136 + shipping at the time. Lately I've seen the black TPU hovering around $119 + $5.00 for shipping. Needless to say after realizing I was not going to find a decent metal band for $10 - $15 anywhere I went with the stock HEAVY METAL black.
I've got to say it does look super cool. I got boring always buying the varying chrome and silvers as dress watches. Now I've got my classy dress watch, my everyday knock around automatic watch, and my casual yet sophisticated black heavy metal Sony SmartWatch SW2. I look at it this way - if my wife and daughters (chicks in general) can have a million purses and pairs of shoes then I can have a watch (or toy) for any occasion.
I've had several people ask me, "is that the watch you can get your email or messages with?". Especially when paired up with my Xperia Z Ultra.
I just wish this puppy did more sensible things, that I don't have to pay an average of $3.00 per app, and came with more customization features out of the box.
There was only two choices when I got mine, black or black.
I got black (with a metal strap).
Using my smartwatch for all occasions now, just change the watch face accordingly.
Also got other straps for different occasions. If you go with the NATO style straps there's no messing around with the spring clips. Changing straps takes all of 30 seconds.

Anyway, the Silver version doesn't exist at the time when I bought the SW2.
Even with the new Android Wear watches I still think that the SW2 it's the most beautiful and elegant SmartWatch
I've got the black silicone one, and i'll buy this maybe : http://www.ebay.com/itm/261154299564

Slickwraps for Galaxy S6

Been using this for a bit so I decided to post up some pics. I attached the images, but since they're really compressed, I'm also providing a link below to imgur if anyone wants to see them in better quality.
Slickwraps Black/Red Carbon Galaxy S6
The full body wrap can be used with a case, but I don't recommend it. Tight cases such as the Speck CandyShell tend to lift the portion of the wrap covering the aluminum frame. A tpu case or a two part case are probably your best bet for those times you do need to use a case.
Looks great. Be careful with the thin sides on the front, they tend to lose their adhesion with too much fiddling.
Looks good and nice color combo, I've never had much luck applying this wraps.

I had that issue on my Nexus 6, but on the side wraps covering the aluminum frame since they got thinner at the ends. Applying some heat with a hair dryer helped for the most part, but it definitely didn't have as strong a bond as it initially did.

love the color combo
diggin' that look
How's this holding up for you? Have you tried it with a case at all? I just ordered the hero skins for my gold S6 but I am thinking about swapping the gold sides for black. Also, how long did it take for yours to ship?

Still looks as good as the first day I installed it and I have used it with cases. Even with a tight case like the Speck Candyshell, the wrap never got loose. If you order it during a time there isn't a sale going on, it will usually get to you by about a week or couple days less. If you order it during a sale, it can easily take over a week.
Sometimes though Slickwraps will print out a shipping label and the status will show as shipped, but the actual package won't ship out till a few days later. It doesn't always happen, but I've experienced it a few times.

@il buono: I'm definitely waiting for mine. I want to put it in my Spigen clear case but I'm worried you won't be able to see it or it will rub off. Hmmmm, decisions, decisions.

Anyone using this phone naked?

I really want to use the phone without a case and just a tgsp.. But I am unsure how scratch resistant it is. I am about to receive a replacement phone from Google as my first had issues. What do you guys use?
Definitely get a screen protector. Just having it in my pockets caused many small screen scratches over time.
As for the phone itself, the beveled metal edges around the screen scratch and dent VERY easily. A slight accidental bump can permanently mess it up pretty badly. The back metal of the phone seems to hold up very nicely, though.
i have no screen protector or case and I wouldnt have it any other way. That being said the edges are a thinner metal then a coke can so it will nick easily
This phone is too slippery to use without a case imo. I use a Spigen Thin Fit to help with grip and I'm happy.
Always wrap your thing!
Using a slickwraps skin. It's much easier to hold without a case because it's less heavy and thinner (due to how long the phone is)
I'm using my phone absolutely naked, have insurance in case something happens to it in lieu of a case.

I feel the same way however I'd like to keep this phone looking good.. I've gone with the Rhino bumper which is thin, discreet and you can still feel the back of the phone..plus the protection is supposed to be amazing.
The only problem I have now is that the case looks good too so I want to protect that now lol.
30 dollars with shipping, I'm in the UK and it came in under a week. A great case.
All I have on my phone is a dbrand skin. Unfortunately, I had an issue where it dropped a short distance (6 to 12 inches) and landed on a corner and it knicked up that corner near the screen pretty good, but not enough to convince me to buy a case yet... lol Haven't had any problems with any screen scratches or any other cosmetic damages yet.

Straight from the evo labs website. No restrictions. Here within a week. I did pay p&p but that's expected. About 4 quid I think.
One thing id like to say though, the rear clearance is not 100% the very centre of the back is slightly exposed, the bumper does not offer complete clearance when you push it against a flat surface.
If you don't know what I mean.
Take your phone and slide the back of it along the edge of a surface, say a mantelpiece or a shelf and whilst the start of the case is covered, towards the middle is not..
Not the end of the world but I'd have liked the clearance, ironically, tech 21 always offers this , something to consider.

Unfortunately, my N6P is my only camera at the moment. I'm sure most people wouldn't even notice the ding from a distance, but every time I run my finger along it, I cry a little inside.
Have a good one!
I have a glass screen protector, a Dbrand black carbon fiber skin for the glass panel on the back, and carry the phone around in a FitBag pouch.
This phone is the first where i must have a case for traction, its soo slippery and i want to hold it casually and treat it like a normal phone. I bet if i had it in my pocket it will just defy gravity and just fly out, would get a skin but seeing how easy it was to bend the bezel with my finger nail, i dont want break it in the first year,
I got one of these, the thinnest case i could find.i know it wont help in a fall but it will help against wear and tear

I've always rocked my phones naked. This time around I'm using a skin. Had a front back skin. Did drop it once too >_<. Thankfully it's just a small dent right above the camera visor. The skin on my phone is slippery so I ordered a more grippier one and took off the front skin because ambient display works better without it.
I have only a d brand frame for the camera.
I have glass screen protector and tried a clear thin case, but am back to no case..just the glass. No problems. I did add a little non-slip round piece to the back..it stays in my pocket just a little better, and totally stops it from sliding off a flat surface.
In and out of pocket all day, I am not real careful about keys or coins and no issues. I have done this with HTC M7,8,9 also with no problems. I hate hiding a good looking phone with an ugly case...and no case I have ever seen enhances the look.
Any one know of a transparant case that is compatible with slickwraps? Bought the galactic series but want some extra protection...

I think it needs no protector. However,my wife bought an iPely screen protector from Amazon for me.I think it feels perfect. That's great.

paint wearing off Verus cases?

I got my Verus High Pro Shield case (in electric blue) last week. Love the design, but I'm returning it today because the paint has already scuffed off the bumper in five places, allowing the ugly white plastic underneath to show through. Just wondering if other people have had this issue - I'm not seeing it talked about in reviews at all, so I wonder if it might be specific to this color variant. Can anyone with one of these cases (in any color) report how the paint holds up to wear?
I've seen a couple complaints of this in the reviews on Amazon. Most of them seemed to be with the colored choices like blue red, etc. One of the reasons I went grey on my Verus.

Hate to break it to you, but the grey is a color coating too. The polycarbonate for the bumper is actually white underneath.
I have been using the Shine gold for 3 weeks without issue. However the phone has no drops and is treated like a baby.
dont mean to be rude but this case sucks tbh. go with a spigen case, their bumper case might be thicker but a lot better in my opinion.
To be honest after having this case I'm not a fan. It really compliments the phone but that's about it. To me the plastic bumpers while they may provide extra protection make the phone harder to hold. Also slippery due to the smooth surface.
I have had the blue one on for about a ,onto now and no issues with the paint wearing off. I did drop it though and the paint came off from that.
So, I ended up taking some automotive spraypaint to the bumper. Came out looking pretty nice and seems to be holding up pretty well so far!

Huawei Watch 2 Classic replacement stainless steel bracelet to match?

Does anyone know where to get a replacement strap fro the Huawei watch 2 classic ? I'm looking for one in stainless steel to match the colour of the grey classic
I think i got this one and it matches the color:

no review yet: just installed it, but seems fine ^^
Most of the ones I've been looking at have complaints of the finish not being very durable and scratching or wearing through to the silver base metal very quickly. So I started to research ceramic bands but many of those look too glossy black. Ceramic will be very durable against wearing through to another base color but can be very brittle. Some have complained the bands are brittle and can crack/break if you catch your wrist on something like a door frame as you walk by. Not all of the are quick release so that's another issue if you like to be able to change bands easily (as I do) . Pretty much anything 22mm that goes well with the Samsung Gear S3 Classic will work well with the HW2 classic. One thing I have read is that 22mm Milanese Loop Mesh bands will not always fit because of how far back the pin holes are in the HW2 classic.
This ceramic one (not quick release) actually has a review from an HW2 classic owner with pictures https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M1DT36...olid=2W6Q0JM9LJ3OW&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it
Stainless but also not quick release https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072XGL7Z...olid=2W6Q0JM9LJ3OW&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

I ordered this on amazon a month ago to the day. I just looked at my band when I stumbled across your thread and see that I've got more than a dozen spots that have worn through to silver (they're all on the bottom far side of my wrist).

This one comes close, but 60$ is restrictive price! Would love to get similar strap.
I bought this one in ceramic black 20mm. Looks like they're they might be out of stock now.
