Just curious about everyone's thoughts on how it's running on TMO specifically.
I've got band 12, so I'm happy
Send to be running smooth, love the permissions manager, and the adoptable storage
Installed 6.0 on tmobile when soak test came out. Been running smoothly and have band 12 and VoLTE all working. I'm really not sure why they holding the update for Tmobile..
Slow data speed on band 12
Anyone else out there getting less than 5mbs dowlad & upload on Tmob band 12 Android 6.0?

I'm getting 9.94 Mbps on T-Mobile band 12 I'm in south Florida if that makes a difference.
Sideloaded update today, on TMO in central VA, no issues thus far. Can't confirm band 12, not around here yet from what I've seen.

Well, my LTE signal drops to H and 3G when making or receiving calls. Enhanced 4G LTE mode is on. I'm in Miami and I can connect to band 12. Any idea of what could be the problem?

Hi there,
Would you mind sharing where the settings for Wifi Calling are? I can't seem to find it.
I updated by removing the SIM (tmobile).
Thanks

WiFi Calling and VOLTE are two different things. WiFi calling does not appear to be available at this time, and the VOLTE setting was default to "on" for me... it is in Settings/More/Cellular Networks

Ah thanks. So I'm guessing the "Enhanced 4G LTE Mode" is VOLTE.
Thanks.

That's not surprising. Band 12 is primarily for coverage rather than for capacity. In most (all?) places, T-Mobile has more spectrum available for LTE on the AWS (Band 4) side, so it will usually be faster. But AWS, being a higher frequency, doesn't have as good building penetration or spatial reach as Band 12, so you'll get coverage where you wouldn't with Band 4.
Anyone have trouble sending or receiving mms with hangouts?

There's a hidden WiFi Calling setting that some apps, like Nova Launcher, can launch. The on/off switch moves when you tap it but it's not hooked up to anything on T-Mo

I'm having the same issue with T Mobile in the Atlanta area. Every certain amount of calls the audio is choppy. So I'm seeing a large improvement in my signal strength I'm not seeing band 12.

I had trouble activating my SIM earlier. It did not want to activate when i did initial set up on the device. So I skipped thinking that i can activate it after set up. So for about an hour it would not connect to T-Mobiles network, then it finally did, with bad signal. All i am able to get is mainly 3G and H data signal, no LTE/4G like i am paying for.
has anyone had a similar problem before? Do you think this can be a bad SIM? Any help is appreciated.
Sorry to hear about your problem my phone isn't here yet so I can not give insights yet but will let you know if anything arises
Getting the same problem here, not getting LTE only H... this is my first time with a LTE phone so maybe my area doesn't have LTE, going to Uni tmrw and see if i get LTE there (which is should)
I like in Central Jersey so don't know if they have LTE there, i am pretty sure they have it in Northern Jersey, specially the Newark, Jersey City, NYC area's
U have lte in your area?

Yes. You can do a zip code search on there coverage. My zip is 37075 its got great coverage. I feel its a SIM problem.

T-Mobile does NOT have nationwide LTE so theres no guarantee that you actually have LTE where you are. Best to make sure of that before you do anything else.
And just so you know, their coverage site does not distinguish between LTE and HSPA+ since they consider both 4G.
No LTE here on a new T-Mobile account. My roommate has it on his S4. I'm hoping it just takes time to provision. Using fast.t-mobile.com
i get lte anywhere i go..im in miami
LTE is not a huge deal as long as I get HSPA+ its fast where I am. It shows Excellent coverage in my area, so yes I may not get Real LTE, but i should get good HSPA+ and cell service. Right?

Try setting the preferred network to LTE. No clue if this will work on a Nexus 5, but it works on a Nexus 4. Even with the appropriate hacks, I only get LTE in my area when I do the following.
1. Enter *#*#4636#*#* in the dialer
2. Go to "Phone information"
3. Change the "Set preferred network type:" dropdown to "LTE only".
LTE started working after about 4 hours after setting up my new T-Mobile account.

Yep. Thats why you got LTE. Still Rolling out in my area. I am actually not upset about it. The HSPA+ is pretty dang good.

My N5 flips between HSPA+ and LTE pretty much without rhyme or reason. Interestingly, HSPA+ is about as fast down most of the time, but of course LTE is faster uploading.

Is it possible to disable LTE from the settings? I don't feel that LTE is worth the additional battery drain and that HSPA+ is good enough.
Yup. Under mobile settings "Network Mode" 1) LTE 2) 3G 3) 2G.
Im on AT&T
Try the old *#*#4636#*#* - Phone info - scroll down, change the radio to WCDMA Preferred and that'll basically stop LTE connectivity.
Is LTE actually less efficient than HSDPA though? Especially with the new envelope tracking? I'd be curious to know.

It doesn't actually seem to do anything, even if I set it to WCDMA-only. I really need this because I have a 3G plan provisioned on an LTE-capable SIM and the network rejects registration if it is attempted on an LTE band.

Verizon has begun rolling out the long awaited HTC One M8 Android Lollipop update to owners of the smartphone this week and in the process, enabled expanded access to its LTE network by activating the previously dormant Band 4 (1700 AWS-F band) for access to its XLTE high-speed network overlay. This update is expected to substantially improve coverage for customers that have been dealing with network congestion on the primary 700Mhz LTE network. The carrier is rolling out the update in waves and has posted a*detailed changelog*with the changes on its support page for the phone.

Its dated for about a week ago so I'm gonna say its the update we just got. I don't know what app we could use to see what bands are active or enabled. I'm sure there is something out there though.
Maybe it was Viper ROM but I am pretty sure mine has been active as of kit kat....as I can get speeds of 70-80 down in areas that only used to be 5-10

Well depends on where you live....nowhereville Montana isn't getting xlte deployed as quick as metro NJ..but even then I'll get crazy fast speeds at work but if I walk a block away I get only .3 on LTE! So even in highly congested areas they haven't upgraded to xlte.
Use LTE Discovery app if you want to know what band and cell you're on. It's very useful.
"Lte discovery"app says I'm on lte band 13, guess my areas not band4 yet.
Same here in Tennessee
LTE Discovery is a real winner of an app. It's what I use as well.
Band 4 XLTE in central Virginia working like a charm.
Correction the cell tower on the other side of town is xlte band4 30Mbps up/10Mbps down

I thought the same thing...but if you follow the moving arrow (ex. turn your phone around in circles like a weirdo...you may eventually change to XLTE band 4 (happened to me after about 60 secs). Until this cool app I just tried bc of this thread...I didn't even realize XLTE was rolled out around here yet.
The XLTE tower must be far away though, bc I only get 1 bar of XLTE and my speed tests suck when locked on.
Speed Test XLTE: 18.69 D | 1.05 U
Speed Test LTE: 22.64 D | 11.68 U
Speed Test WiFi: 127.31 D | 44.21 U (screamer!)
I've gotten the phone today and feel like the software signal bars are reporting incorrect signal strength and also showing LTE connectivity when there isn't any.
Also the radio seems to be really bad at getting LTE signal. My Nexus 5 would have LTE in areas this phone is stuck on HSPA. Anyone else notice this issue?

T-Mobile has to certify and allow the phone to work on band 12 or else it won't be able to make 911 calls. They've verified the US S7 but I don't think they verified the international version.

it's frustrating that others have said recently that band 12 is NOT supported. what about wifi calling?
Hi there !
I belive that WIFI calling and the reduced Internet speed while on a phone call, are the two things that are different on the Exynos. Tell me how to check and make sure WiFi doea not work and I will try for you. I have tested the second one, and indeed the Internet speed is way reduced when talking on phone. Depending where you are, it is either H+ or 3G.
Hope that helps !

i believe there should be a setting for wifi calling within the "more connection settings". if it's not showing within the settings, then it's not supported.
as for band 12, how reliable is that app you used? a lot of people have mentioned that band 12 is not supported on the exynos model, so i'm really curious how yours has it.
thanks!
OK, there is no WiFi calling setting under there.
As for how reliable the App is, I have no idea, sorry. I searched and found it was mentioned in XDA for checking this kind of settings/capabilities. I will take a screen capture of it once I am in a building and it is showing the band used. My understanding is that LTE Band 12 is particularly good and improves signal inside buildings.

The Internattional version does support band 12. and it works, however for VoLTE you have to find a firmware that has it which is hard. the Czech t-mobile firmware has VoLTE but no WiFi calling
The "F" international version also has Band 17 for AT&T
why do people who DON'T have the phone act like they know what they are talking about.
Works fine on T-Mo, and ATT. you just miss out on some of the bands, and also carrier features like VoLTE.
my 930F works fine on Tmo. and it'll work fine on ATT as well.
