Pure MM FULL Rollout to following carriers: - X Style (Pure) General

"I have some news with respect to our Android Marshmallow 6.0 upgrades.
This afternoon we have started to fully rollout Android Marshmallow 6.0 on 2015 Moto X Pure Edition (3rd Gen) with the following carriers; Verizon, Sprint and USC.
In addition, we have started the soak test period in Brazil and India retail for the 2015 Moto X Play and in Brazil retail for the 2015 Moto X Force.
We are continuing to work to rollout Android Marshmallow 6.0 to the previously announced devices as listed on the Official Motorola Blog.
Thanks and enjoy!"

I'm in the same boat, I'm on Cricket. Other sites stated At&t & T-Mobile (probably) to follow...

I'm reading other people are popping out their SIMs and getting the update : "Just installed my marshmallow update on my Moto x pure edition. I'm neither on any of the US carriers. I took out my sim, searched for updates and I got the OTA update notification and installed. Good luck guys! "
This has NOT worked for me

oops, pulled sim and updated. Hopefully, this will not effect the tmobile carrier update..

hopefully you wont have to do this but when i had my Nexus 6 i bought directly from moto with my verizon SIM in it, I had to do a factory reset with the SIM removed in order for it to get the OTAs that were pushed directly from google.:fingers-crossed:

Why is anyone waiting at this point anyway? We know the files are the same and the download is available for anyone to flash. There is no T-Mobile update coming other than this one.

What's the build number of the latest rollout?

In general I would agree, but if there technically is no difference, why didn't GSM users on ATT and TMo get the update? Band 12 certification is only a TMo issue, so shouldn't have impacted ATT.
I have this nagging feeling that Moto isn't telling us something, and with the absence of a true signed factory restore file, I'm a little gun shy about flashing something that may impact my ability to get a proper OTA a little down the line...

While I'm technically on ATT my just received replacement MXP has not seen a sim card yet and I get the OTA just fine.

I tried yesterday. I turned off my phone, removed my sim card and reboot it. No OTA. Well, I'm in Canada so maybe that didn't help much. [emoji14]

Possible to turn non GPe into a GPe?

Will it be possible to turn my unlocked U.S GSM Moto G into a Google Play Edition with it being able to receive OTA updates from Google?
My Moto G is all stock atm.

it should be possible by soon, just as its possible for HTC one and GS4 to turn into their google edition roms.
I just hope it's possible for dual sim as well since the google edition one is only out in single sim version

you will likely need to unlock your bootloader but other than that, it should absolutely be possible.
And I'll need root, correct? I remember when I had my at&t HTC one that you couldn't just flash the GPe edition ROM for OTA updates you had to do something else for that..

New dialer, no bloatware, full list of system languages (like Russian for example)
I am waiting for such conversion guide. I did the same with my HTC One before.
UPD: As I am using Nexus 5 I want only stock Android on my other devices . Because 4.4.2 is awesome ) I really enjoy it.
Thanks for the replies, i wasn't asking it to sound rude,
just didnt know what the differences where.
I don't know about u guys but I have the Google dialer on my stock-non rooted US GSM moto g. On 4.4... It's the same one as my nexus 4...
So besides the camera software and no Motorola features/ apps (which I find cool/ useful like the battery saver) there's really no difference.... Yeah software updates... Whatever.

Faster Android updates and probably outlast Motorola's updates..as OEMs typically stop putting out updates once another device comes and steals the thunder.
As for the dailer I think that's still exclusive to the Nexus 5 where it shows a picture based on the number which it gets from a automatic Google search I think..possibly more features.

IMO we don't know yet if GPE versions will actually be faster.
Moto mostly just added a few Moto apps for their OEM version. That's why they had 4.4 ready so fast I think.
And the reality with GPE is that the OEM, Motorola, is actually responsible for the work.
So Moto could decide to release simultaneous or delay one or the other.
If they ship both OEM and GPE 4.5's shortly after Android 4.5 is announced, that will make them look good (and will be good), and I'd bet that's part of their plan.
An unlocked Moto X can have the bootloader unlocked and then have different firmwares flashed to it. For example, I had a Moto X from Mexico...sim unlocked. I unlocked the bootloader, of course voiding the warranty and I flashed the ATT firmware to it. So I basically converted it to a ATT Moto X. Which is similar to converting a ATT HTC One to a GPe HTC One etc.
Nevertheless, because our Moto G's bootloader can be unlocked and we can flash firmwares etc once it unlocked, I'm assuming we'll be able to flash the GPe Firmware to our Moto G..

Lollipop Rolls Out to M8

update for GSM
hey!Im currently using this phone on a gsm carrier. .anyway i can update the phone directly by putting it in CDMA mode or something?Or do i need to wait for a RUU to flash? Thanks!
Has anyone been able to get the ota update from verizon ?
I went back to completely stock 4.4.4 rom with no system roms removed, stock 4.4.4 recovery and I flashed back to 4.4.4 firmware and the verizon ota updates keeps coming up that I have the latest software.
I know its out because verizon itself even shows it on the net going over the update in detail. They even show you can also get the update through the htc sync software by plugging your m8 in to yuour computer usb port and downloading the update. Which the htc sync software keeps showing no update either.
It would show a repair software option though which I tried that knowing I would still have s-off even if they did relock my bootloader because I could change my cid and use htc dev to unlock that if I needed to.
Anyone have any luck going back to stock and taking the LP ota from verizon ?

The Lollipop update to the AT&T version of the M8 has VoLTE, indicating it's probably a carrier thing more than an HTC thing.

Probably. HTC's update page still says that it's in the "3 - Certification stage of the Android Lollipop Release."
Although Mo Versi did say to expect it the first week of March. So must be close.
I just ordered an m8 from Verizon and I really hope it didn't come with lollipop.

Mo Versi replied this morning: "It's approved, you should receive the OTA soon. Thanks!"
Pretty sure one site saw that the lollipop documentation was up and just assumed the ota was released and then all the other sites just copy and pasted it and now its a runaway train. And it being approved is not the same as the update being pushed out. Pretty sure we got played as far as getting it today.

As we all know Sept 29th the new Nexus models with Marshmallow will launch. For fun, what is everyone prediction on when we will see an official update to Marshmallow. My guess is Nov 6th.

Beauty of an unlockable bootloader ... Return to stock, get OTA. Only potential "issue" is that TWRP/root for M may take a bit (not sure on that though as I'm no dev)

Wait for one of the great devs to post a stock-rooted flashable ROM.

While I'm very excited for Marshmellow, as others have stated, I don'y think we will have to wait for the official rom to drop. There will be some awesome devs that port it to out devise from the Nexus devises long before it's officially available.
My guess you have to be pretty quick after release because unlike in previous years we no longer have to wait for carriers to approve the updates
3 weeks from code release...Based on how the lollipop rollout went for the 2014 Moto X. I do want to mention that this "update to marshmellow" we are all guessing will be within the month of Oct. will most likely be only a soak test.

Lg g3 at&t factory unlocked firmware update question

Hey guys, I recently purchased an LG G3 AT&T Factory unlocked so other network carriers can be used. But when I click software update it already says I'm updated (CURRENTLY RUNNING LOLLIPOP 5.0.1) so I assume you need to have an AT&T sim card to update your software.
Is there like any way to bypass that so I can update my phone to android 6.0? If so how? and would I need to have it factory unlocked again?
I'm new to this, so detailed explanation would be deeply appreciated!
Cheers!

The AT&T model does not come factory unlocked. It's a carrier model and has to be manually unlocked. So if you bought it new it cannot be new as the seller would of had to open it to unlock it.
But no there is no other way to do OTA updates on it without an AT&T sim, go phone sim , or H2O prepaid sim.

Word of caution. Be familiar with how to revert to KK using the tot method. I say this because if the phone has been rooted, and all that was done was uninstall the root app and factory reset, the phone may not take an OTA update as it will read the system as modified. Plenty of discussion on this here in the forums. Also keep in mind that there is no permanent root method for MM as of yet.

LG G3 Lollipop to Marshmallow update

I see this has been asked quite a few times, but I want to clarify a little further.
I'm in New Zealand, so I can't update my LG G3 to android 6.0 as I need an AT&T sim card. I was wondering if I could use an expired at&t sim, without a plan or credit or anything like that, to update my phone.
