Fingerprint verification for playstore purchases - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note5

Coming from a Nexus 6p I had the option of using the fingerprint scanner instead of entering a password when I buy apps on the play store. Is this not possible with the Note 5? Is that a Marshmallow feature?

I think it may be a Marshmallow feature. I was unable to located on my 5.

Thanks, that is what I feared. Well, hopefully the marshmallow update is around the corner for us because that feature is very convenient. I am also looking forward to having Doze again. That was awesome on the 6p

[Q] Nexus 5 - LMT Problem after update.

After receiving my new Nexus 5,
I had a friend install LMT onto it, which worked perfectly and I was very happy with.
Then the newest Google update became available and I installed it, suddenly my LMT stopped working.
There are some times where a few of the parts of the Pie will work, but 90% of the time nothing works.
Has anyone had this problem or have a solution?
So you're on 4.4.2 now? May have to wait for LMT dev to update their app to work properly with the new version.
Yeah I am on 4.4.2
And thank you very much, any idea when that might come out?
I don't. I'd go on play store for lmt and see if there's any option to email the Dev directly.

Lmt is not in the play store but the current v2.0 version is working without problems on the n5 with 4.4.2.

it might need root for all the buttons to function and you might of lost it in the update. I'm only guessing as I always have root.

Android Pay and Custom ROM

Anyone get Android Pay and Custom ROM working on their rooted and customized Nexus 5 ?
Here are the steps I took in order to add cards and get Android Pay functioning on my phone:
- Get the Google Pay APK from here: http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/android-pay/android-pay-1-0-102576552-android-apk-download/
- You'll also need an upgrade for Google Play Services, I was not able to get it through Apple Pay, I had to get it from here:
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-play-services/google-play-services-8-1-14-2244331-238-android-apk-download/
NOTE: have to install Google Play Services that ends in 238 for the N5
Then do the following steps:
- Install Android Pay
- Install Google Play Services
- Clear Data for Android Pay
- Go into SuperSU and unroot
- setup Android Pay
- re-root using SuperSU
So this allowed me to add/manage cards in Android Pay - but some users are getting an error such as:
"MASTERCARD-XXXX can't be used with Android Pay right now " when trying to pay with their phone.
The other item I noted is that after verifying my credit card with the issuing bank - it took several hours (>8) before I received official confirmation that the card was made available for mobile payment.
I'm guessing that it may take a while before the cards are 'activated for mobile payment?
Anyone able to use Android Pay to make a payment on their N5 (rooted, Custom ROM) ?
Note: I'm running on Cataclysm and HellsCore Kernel.
I just received email confirmation from my bank that my card had been added. I did receive verbal confirmation the day I added it, but maybe it takes a few days. The problem now is that I had removed my card and re-added it this morning, before that initial email confirmation came through. Now I don't know if I need to wait for another email confirmation before trying again.
The process worked for me, but I haven't yet tried to make a payment. One note on the steps (although this is probably understood by most who would be going through the process): For re-rooting SuperSU, you may want to clarify this is done by re-installing SuperSU in recovery.

I'm getting that those links are broken/don't work.......
EDIT: I've had the 'Unfortunately, Google Play services has stopped' constantly with any iteration of the Google Play Services update I've downloaded. I just dl'd the 'universal' version 240 from the XDA Developers posting , everything else has worked fine but I'm still getting the service stop error. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get this message to stop? When I go to Manage Apps, there's no option to clear data/uninstall updates, only clear cache and disable (and I don't want to disable it, for sure.)

I fixed the links - but if they fail again - just goto http://www.apkmirror.com/ and find the latest android pay and latest google play services (ending in 238) apks - and use those.
Pure Nexus Project, tried the steps in OP as well as trying exposed modules to hide root. I also tried using bootunlocker to lock the BL and change the tamper flag to stock. Still no luck.

Yeah, Nexus 5. I'll have to try 230, nothing else has worked so far. 240 was supposed to be a 'universal' GPServices.....I see a commenter above posted something about a new Xposed module, maybe have to give that a shot, too.
EDIT: Looks like v.238 was the trick, no Google Play Services errors so far. Now I just have to test out Android Pay somewhere.
Does anyone know if you have to somehow choose between Android Pay and Google Wallet when using NFC payment at a terminal?

Glad you got it set. FYI, for Nexus 5 the -230 Play services is universal DPI.
I'm pretty sure at the pos terminal you'll only be able to use Android Pay. It has completely assumed all duties of the old Wallet. If you have a Google Wallet physical card you can add it as an option for Pay, but otherwise Wallet is now just for p2p transactions (like PayPal).

I just noticed that the old Google Wallet app was auto-removed at some point from my phone (I had both for a while), now I've just got Android Pay and Google Wallet, so that makes complete sense.
FWIW, when I tried adding my Google Wallet card to Android Pay, I initially got the 'you can't use this on your phone'/root error; just unrooted through SU, added the card, re-rooted, no message. I just have to test it out on a POS terminal somewhere and see how it flies.

Not working at POS
Finally had an opportunity to use Android Pay at a Whole Foods POS.
Touched my phone to the card reader - and Android Pay popped up - with my default credit card.
Then - I got the dreaded: "Visa-xxxx can't work with Android Pay right now" message.
Seems this is a common issue - so it looks like we'll have to wait a bit for this to work.
I'll continue to try it at places that accept Android Pay - and will update accordingly.
NOTE: one thing was apparent... for me the experience of using my phone to pay - is no better an experience (probably more clunky) - than merely swiping my credit card - which I can probably get out of my pocket and swipe, faster than getting out my phone, unlocking it and positioning it on the reader.
Perhaps the security promises with Android Pay will trump a mag stripe card... but from a user experience standpoint... not that great.

Are you rooted, hence the 'didn't work' problem, or it's just plain not working right now?
Yeah, I've putzed around with the original Google Wallet/NFC payment a few times and I found the same thing was true: it's about as much hassle, maybe even more, as using a regular credit or debit card. At least with the cards you know they're going to work, barring some major snafu; with Google Wallet/Android Pay, maybe the place you're at doesn't accept it as payment, maybe the card vendor isn't on-board with Android Pay yet, maybe your phone's rooted and it doesn't work to begin with, etc. I like the idea of having multiple cards available to use with Google Pay, so I can choose which one I want to use at any given time, but I think there's also a lot of barriers to making phone-based payment the default method of payment for people.
EDIT: Well, initial swing and a miss; I had my Google Wallet card set as the default card to use with Android Pay, and got a message saying that the Google Wallet card wasn't able to be used with Android Pay at this time. I was at McDonald's for lunch and if there wasn't a big line behind me I'd have taken time to switch cards and try again, but as it was I froze up and just went with a physical card. I didn't get a 'you're using a rooted phone, you hAxx0rZ!!!! Stop trying to overthrow capitalism and steal Bitcoins, anarchist!!!' error message, at least, so that's a good thing.
Doing more research on this - there seems to be strong evidence that Android Pay won't work on a rooted/custom rom phone.
Lots of speculation as to whether it is related to an unlocked bootloader, root, custom rom, or some combination...
Has anyone tried this on vanilla N5 ?
I'm using stock and I have play services 238 the latest one and Android pay still says "Google play services have stopped" what do I do?
Here's a thought: maybe it's a server-side activation, and that's why it doesn't work for rooted users who temporarily disable superuser when attempting to add a card?
That's the only thing I can think to explain why some users are able to unroot and flip the switch, while others can't

Android Wear 2.0 DP GOOGLE ASSISTANT

Just found somthing really cool!!! Android Wear DP (DP3 in my case) has build in Google Assistant!! Yes it's not a Google Now that's why it didn't worked. As soon as i instaled Google Assistant on my Nexus 6P it started working on my watch too!!!!

I also have a Huawei watch and Google Assistant on my 5X. How were you able to activate it on your watch? "Ok Google" still brings up the same interface as before.

Do you have the newest android wear 2.0 dp (nve68j) installed?
If so, as long as you have Google Assistant on you phone just hold the button on you watch and you should see a question if you would like to unable Google Assistant using your phone (or something similar). Just accept it and it should work!)
Now I have it working with my Huawei watch (nve68j) and Nexus 6p (npf10c)
Or you just getting error about reaching google?

im wondering, is it possible to install google assistant on my non developer preview Polar m600 android wear watch?
It's great if your phone is assistant capable, otherwise you lose the query functionality from the watch altogether.

The official reason the Nexus 5X doesn't support Daydream is because of it's thermal limits. If it works unofficially just make sure it won't overheat in the headset.
just tried it. installed all the apk from apkmirror.com but got a message that my device is not compatible.
Does someone have any idea how to use the Daydream controller in Youtube Cardboard mode?
I'll do my best to help where I can. I have a daydream on order, should arrive in a few days. So far I have downloaded the app from apkmirror. Once I opened the app, it said I needed newest Google VR Services. So I also downloaded the latest version from apk-mirror. That allowed me to go ahead with the setup of the daydream app. When I go to press the button to go into VR mode, it FCs daydream. Too early totell what this may mean, I need to get my daydream VR headset and get it paired up and I can play some more. I'm noticing that even the Daydream compatible games on the play store I cannot install to my phone because the play store reports them as incompatible with the 5x.
I'm using Pixelrom v3.21, which is Nougat 7.1.1 DP1 based.
Got my headset yesterday after seeing the video but it doesn't really proof anything. After installing the apk, the app crashes when trying to enter the VR mode. It's not recognizing the headset via NFC and the controller doesn't work.
But I was able to install 3rd party VR apps and use them with the headset. After using it for an hour it got pretty hot, so you might want to give it a break after a while.
So in the end you have a comfortable cardboard without the controller and daydream app.
Tried it with stock 7.0.0 and developer beta 7.1.1.

I have tried reinstalling now, still no change in behavior.
So I finally got my Daydream viewer and remote from Google. The controller pairs with no issues. The headset has a built in NFC chip, so when you put your phone I to the headset, it must auto launch some program. However, when I put In The 5x, it just displays a message saying this phone is incompatible with the 5x. So I can't even use the nice headset with Google cardboard, unless I disable the NFC.
The daydream app instantly crashes when I hit the viewer icon so that doesn't work either. So ATM I cant do anything at all with the daydream viewer. I'm sure in time someone can reengineered the daydream app to work with other phones, or trick the app into thinking it is a Pixel, but ATM it's useless.
Oh well.
Im also getting the needs updates google vr services, last installed the versions uploaded to apkmirror november 21st (yesterday) although version number indicates it's November 19th build.
Tried uninstalling, deleting cache, restarting to no avail.... any help?!
have you tried modifiny your build.Prop to make it look like a pixel

does the controller also work ?

P40 Pro - Some Apps don't work as expected.

Hello to every one. I have the P40 Pro, the latest version up to date. EMUI 12. I have installed google play services and everything seems to be working exept google pay. When i download the app, then i open it and it says that "google pay is updating right now so you won't be able to access the app" and this dont leave even if you restart the phone. Once i installed my bank app it popped out a notification that says "Update google services", once i did update google maps stopped working. It wont load position or the landscapes. And all google apps dont work. I had to do the whole google play store installation again in order to make it work. I think that if i install google play services that i will be able to use google pay. Even the function that you double press the power button open up curve to pay contactlessly by in the end it dont work. It just open the app showing the nfc icon with the card. Also i found out that it open nfc for just a second and then it turns off automatically. Even if i manually open the nfc i cant pay with curve. Is there any way that i could install an app the allows me to pay with nfc? If i downgrade to EMUI 10 will i be able to use that current google play services version in order to make all apps work. Any ideas of how to solve this?
P.S. Another bank of mine have an app functionality that allows me to play contactlessly. I would like to have an app like a wallet that i could add all my banks, like google pay or curve.
Thanks for stopping by to read

I had my curve app installed from Google Play and then i uninstalled it and installed it from GalleryApp. Now when i double tapp on power button it pop ups curve , turns on NFC for a fraction and then turns off. If i open wallet and then select curve and click on pay NFC stays on. Did not tried it yet. So you only need to unlock phone with open NFC and it works? do i have to go to NFC settings and select anything? Also do i have to open curve app?
In NFC settings you had to set Curve as default app for NFC payments.
Yes, it's working after unlocking the phone (with NFC on).
