[Completed] "Faulty" emoji font - XDA Assist

OK, fellas
I've lurked XDA for a while now and it's solved many of my doubts. Today, however, I finally decided to create an account and ask for something I haven't seen solved around the web. You probably heard about Android 6.0.1 with the new emoji – my query is somewhat related: I had a Nexus 5 until not so long ago and I noticed how some emoji wouldn't display correctly, appearing only as the "raw" Unicode character instead of Google's custom design. I dismissed the problem as some sort of mistake I may have comitted while flashing a factory image or something, although it'd never be corrected as I continuosly updated to the most recent OS version available. I even took this issue up to the Google Product forums to no avail. Finally, I traded the Nexus for a Moto Maxx XT1225 (for other reasons than this) and, to my surprise, the problem is on this new device too! I haven't meddled with it yet (rooting, etc.) and it came out of the box with Android 5.0.2 – below, a screenshot showing the characters that are not displaying correctly (unless it isn't there; in which case, I failed to attach the image)

Does anyone have any idea of what it could be? It's a minor issue, but it sure has been bugging me...
I figure downloading an intact font file and replacing the one on my phone would do the trick, but I'd prefer a solution that didn't require rooting, if possible.
Thanks for any help! :good:

[Problem] XDA developers homepage redirection

hey guys,
First congratulation on our new home here on XDA.
when i first came to this website couple of month ago, i had no idea where to find our forum. so i searched for the device on the the upper right corner while selecting forums and instantly redirected me to the i9000 subform.

"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
That was great, however this wasn't fixed when we have our own section now, it still redirects to the old subform, which will easily confuse any new comers to the website.
One more thing worth mentioning, when i try the same search but using the portal radio button the website redirects to an error page , i hope that can be fixed too
if anyone knows a moderator or someone capable of solving these issues please help to improve our phone
Thanks for your time
I had the same issue raised This is what I meant by It's easier to use that then searching LOL

Sorry I didn't run into that earlier post of yours, so is anyone doing anything about it?
Maybe not now, as the forums migration is still being carried out
It's only a matter of time until it'll be fixed
good to see that the mod has done some work in the forums...its so clean!
This type of issue should be reported directly to a Senior Moderator for resolution. Having seen this thread, and verified the issue, I will pass it along to the admins for fixing.

[Completed] Tablet xgody T93Q

Hello everyone, I need your help Please.
I discovered Android and obviously I do stupid things
Following mishandling, my tablet is blocked.
I wanted to install and test other "ROM" (as one can install an OS on a PC) but my tablet is not happy: p
Currently it normally lit but the WiFi and the touchscreen does not work.
It is well recognized by my PC but I can not validate the connection to the tablet (hs touch screen).
So I want a "ROM" compatible and the way to install it.
Thank you
Ps: I do not speak english (google translate).
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. Unfortunately I can find very little about your device. However, I see you've posted this question in a number of forums on the internet. The only other thing I can suggest is to post here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2257421

Jd1639 Hello, yes I use the wizard but as you point out, not easy to find information for this device.
The other week when I asked the same question is in standby, so I came here. I also contacted the seller for more information but I have no answer yet ...
If you think my message would be better elsewhere, do not hesitate to move

[Completed] Lollipop "recent Apps" Drawer Scaling Problem.

Hey you guys, I'm on CM12.1 Unofficial on Pantech Vega Iron phone, and I'm facing this weird issue. When you fire up the recent apps panel, foreground app minimizes and then at the very last mili second, it stretches vertically! It bugs me so much I thought there might be a "Hey edit this line to this and add this line after that line in your build.prop and see" fix, but I've Googled everywhere, using different keywords etc and found no other reported issue like this. Any idea what causes this? More importantly, is there a fix? Has any of you seen or experienced this before?
Thanks you guys, you guys are awesome for making Android happen. #muchrespect.
Picture 1: this is how it's supposed to look: (I took the screenshot making the animations at 10x from Developer Options)

Picture 2: this is what I get right at the very last mili second:
Any comments on fixing it is appreciated This recent apps panel thing really bothers me. It's even worse when you have many open apps and you fire it up. All the previews get blurred.
Thanks again guys!
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. It's probably best to ask your question in the ROM thread, did you find it on XDA?

Hi Timmaaa, thank you for responding. I will go ahead and do a little more research and then post it on the ROM thread

What to use to do complex UI-design for Android?

Hello! This post goes into General since I haven't gotten up to the post count necessary for the app-development forums.
This post has also been posted on Reddit , but I was suggested to go here instead.
New to developing in Android here. I'm trying to work out best practices and discuss design-principles to make the UI shown in the image here:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
It is an infotainment UI possibly for a car where you have several elements with diffrent functionatlity.
The navigation part should be updated continously, the mediapart should be able to scroll horizontally through albums with animation etc.
There are some things I would like the UI to handle:
* I would really like this UI to be dynamicly sized depending on Screensize. (But if it is not possible I would like to discuss it)
* I want to seperate code for each element.
Last I dabbled with Android it was through "Fragments". I get the general sense that Fragments have been faced out
but I cant get a clear picture of what it got replaced with.
I guess what I would humbly like to have a discussion about is , how the wonderful Android Developers of XDA
would go about designing something like this?
Thank you for your time!

Question Checking Notifications on Xperia 5III

I just got an Xperia 5III and my 5II is in a drawer. I was surprised at how different the operating system was on my new 5III compared to my 5II. There is one change that is negative. With the 5II if I was in an app and got a notification I could pull it down and read it.. With the 5III I can't. I have to return to the Home Page to pull down the notification. Is this just the way it is or did I screw a setting in my installation?
Other than that, I'm enjoying the 5III.

I actually haven't encountered this issue, so I'd suggest to search for a solution in settings menu
Oh, golly, why didn't I think of that? I've looked at everything in settings, even settings that shouldn't be remotely related. That's why I thought I would ask here.
Could you share screenshot(s) of your issue and of what you used to see it in 5II for the same? It's a lil hard to imagine based on this. Additionally, it could also be how Android 12 is setup vs. Android 10/11 in 5II.
If we can indeed see what you are facing, maybe that will help us try to find a solution for it.
I hate this. I'm a constant fiddler and this morning I fiddled with some settings in Google Messages. I was in shower when my reminder, from Google Calendar, came up. I waited till I got out of the shower, went to Google Photos on my 5 III, swiped down, and it worked. I went to my Oxford Dictionary and it worked, too. So, the problem that was irritating me is gone. AND I DON"T KNOW WHY!
