Work with Z5? Or premium? - Samsung Gear S2

Does this watch work with both phones? Will buy if so.
Thanks guys.

Yes, it works. I use it with a Z5 Premium.
I just noticed, that I cannot update S2 Firmware, since my Z5 is encrypted. That is not supported by S2.

what apps work with the Z5, i want to get the compact but afraid the t-mo version watch wont play well.( sms reply, email, calls)

Dual Video Recording - Sony Xperia Z3?

Hi guys,
As stated above question, does Sony Xperia Z3 / Sony's flagship phones has dual video recording or dual video call feature?
LG & Samsung flagships have this feature, does Sony has this?
Please don't hate my question, I've already searched for threads or posts but no results found.
Thanks & best regards.

Wow, that's a relief!
I really want that feature, able to capture yourself and others at the same time.
Dual video call means when using skype, your contact may able to see your face and rear camera at the same time.
Thanks for clarifying! Thanks +1 given :good:

I thought it had that feature.
Do you have any game crashing issues with Sony Xperia Z3?
I'm planning to buy Z3, and Sony Smartphones tended to crash more often on games even in online gaming, is that true?
Will you recommend Z3 for gaming?

As i am always honest.
I dont know, because i am casual gamer (temple run, duet, or some sort of puzzle gamer) i dont have time nor will to play massive 3D games on phone, especially online.
But i can assure you i never had problems playing games on my older Xperias which include (Xperia Z1, Xperia S, Xperia Arc/s, Xperia Neo)
So my honest opininion this word "tends" to crash more is not suintable on whole Xperia Lines, its suintable to individuals who mods their phone a lot.
On stock Sony Rom, i forgot how "force close" popup looks like, i never had it on Z3 nor Z1.

Sounds good, coz I'm a heavy gamer.
On my previous Samsung Galaxy Phones, I always root my phone to be able to use apps like Lucky Patcher, Gameguardian, modded Apk's with OBB,
Freedom, in short, I install these apps for hacking games & to install apps that requires root like greenify, seeder, etc etc.
I rooted my phone but still using my stock rom, I never installed a custom rom.
My question, is it ok to root Xperia Z series? You said problems arise for those people who mod their phone, but all I want is just to root the phone. :fingers-crossed:

It is ok to root it, but for example greenify is useless because you have stamina and ultra stamina, if you combine them, they could make problems. So there is no point of this app, for seeder i dont know what is it.
Its simply like this, take every phone on this world, if it is stock it will work as company intended, take it and modify it, there is a chance to make it unstable.
I were like you before in days of (Xperia Neo, Arc, S) then when i bought Z1 i modified and then went back to Stock. And i found out stock works the best.

Greenify it' s not useless, it is not the same thing with Stamina.

Sony Xperia Z5 Premium / Update of Gear S2 not possible

I use my Gear S2 sucessfully with my Z5 Premium.
My device is encrypted due to company regulations.
If I want to update my S2, it says, that it cannot update, because the phone is encrypted.
Is there any solution, how to update S2 on an encrypted phone?

i've got the same issue with my xperia z3. In case you found a solution, please share it.
Unfortunatly not yet...
Just got a new update of the GEAR-Plugin via Playstore.
Now the Gear-Update works, although the phone is encrypted.
Fast reaction by Samsung! Great!
I'm thinking of buying the xperia Z5 (not premium). It synchronizes with the gear s2?

Gear S2 connection with non-samsung phones?

Hi all,
I'm looking at buying my first smart watch and the gear s2 seems to tick all the boxes for me. However, I've come across the gear app and plugin app in the play store and the reviews are terrible, with users bringing up issues with connectivity dropouts and the like.
I just wondered on your experiences on non-samsung phones with the S2?
(I'm on Nexus 6P, non rooted, 7.1.1)
Cheers!

I have a GS2 Classic paired to a Moto Droid Turbo 2. Generally, no problems.
Occasional disconnects after upgrading to Nougat, but less than one/week.
Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
There are few differences in features available on the watch when using Samsung phone vs other brands. I know this first hand because I switched from a LG to a Samsung. But don't take my word for it, here's a chart that highlights the differences.

Fine on xperia Z5C
All go fine on p9 lite. No issues and good connectivity.
However you can pair with all Android (4.3+) and at least 1.5GB of RAM. I read that you can pair the watch to smartphones with 1GB of RAM, but you have to modify Samsung Manager apk, see https://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-s2/help/pair-gear-s2-moto-g-t3323385.
Yes you can use it with smartphone that has 1GB of RAM, but you need to use a modified Samsung Gear app.
Modified Samsung Gear app is available on my blog, I will try to update it as frequently as possible.

First experience I connect Gear S2 to Sony Xperia Z3 compact. Connection without problem but Gear app crashed. I solve it by installing older version of Gear app from APK mirror ( app from april 2016). It have no limitation. It was probably caused by ROOT.
Next I connect it to Moto Z play. No problem at all.
using non samsung phones we lost all the paid apps, right?
That s*cks :/

App purchases are tied to your Samsung account, not the device. They only need be purchased once. Devices can be changed at will.

Can I play Sony Xperia XZ Premium on samsung GEAR VR ?

Hi everyone,
I want to use Samsung GearVR with Sony Xperia XZ Premium as it has 801 PPI , Samsung gear VR only works with Samsung s7, s8 or s9 ...
So,Is it possible to install samsung s7 frimware on xperia premium like custom rom so i can use samsung gear software and oculus services?
Short answer: no.
Long answer: It's hard enough to get custom roms to work on the phones they're built for, let alone try and make a stock rom run on another brand of phone.
There's an even longer more in depth answer but just go with: no.

HOW TO USE SAMSUNG CONTACTS APP ON SONY XPERIA

Hi All,
I am keen to know, can I use the contacts app from Samsung kitkat 4 on my Sony Xperia x compact?
The app was on my Samsung Galaxy s5 mini.
Apparently it's made by snap.inc.
CONTACTS BY SNAP.INC 2.2.22
The reason I like the app is because of the call log I use it for my work
Can someone help me get this app working on my Xperia running oreo 8.0
thanks

Isn't it easier to find another contacts app which is running natively on your current device and had a similar call log feature?
Maybe it is no longer located in the contacts app but in the diaper app.
My father who is 71 has been using the Samsung for years had to upgrade his phone. I wanted to use the apps he was familiar with. He cannot use Samsung any more because he wants to put the phone is his pocket and the screens are too big. He has 2 phones a work phone and a personal phone.
2 phones in one pocket. Old man hard to learn new things
