[Completed] Why doesn't my sony xperia s lt26i respond to any suggested method of updating? - XDA Assist

Hi,
i'm running Android 2.3.7. on my Sony Xperia S LT26i, and despite all the advice and directions i've gotten here (Installing flashtool and downloading the jellybean firmware and following all the step by step guides) it still doesn't seem to work.
My phone responds to NOTHING i've done so far exepting for 2 things...
1. Kingroot no longer pops up when i launch a new app. I think i have successfully disabled it. But i'm still unable to update the binary for Supersu, so it still isn't working like i suspect it should.
2. My phone shut down and refused to switch back on for about 3hrs or more.
One thing noteworthy thing is that Flashtool will not recognize the Jellybean firmware i downloaded from the links i get here, or any other firmware i found for my phone and downloaded. Even though i put it in the c/flashtool/firmware folder as instructed.
Please help me.

Need help

Hi i did go to Xperia Developer thread but it said i can only ask questions in General forums.
So here i am i really need help, i rooted my Xperia Arc and almost nothing is working, i can't turn on the Wifi, mobil network works for a second then the phone shuts down mobil netorks, keypad, etc.
When i start my phone i get: unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped, when i try doing something else i get alot of "unfortunately" messages. please help.
I followed every instruction for rooting i have the 2.6.32.9- DooMKernel, almost all apps are gone and the superuser app have 0 apps in it.
Hi zobar,
There are General & Q&A forums for the Xperia Arc and you'll get users there with the same device, whereas this is a general forum for anything to do with any phone, regardless of make/model/os.
Do some reading in both the General & Q&A sections in this forum...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=962
If you can't find an answer then start a thread in the Q&A forum, as that's where all questions should be posted. The only place you can't currently post are development forums, but they're only for releasing development work anyway.
Hope you get your problem sorted
Try rebooting

Rebooting might help. Or you can restore an old ROM.

Straightforward answer
Before a more experienced member rightfully closes this thread I will try to help you.
Download flashtool. A simple google search will sort that out.
Install it. The program will have a picture of a lightning bolt as its logo.
Find the stock firmware for your device. Search for that in google.
After downloading the firmware you should see it has a .ftf at the end.
Go into computer then flashtool then firmware. then drag and drop the .ftf into that folder.
Close the folder.
connect your arc.
Open the flashtool program.
Click the bolt icon in the top left.
select the name of the firmware you downloaded in the left panel. it will highlight blue.
Click ok (bottom right).
A box will appear telling you to put your device into flash mode. Follow the instructions it gives.
Once this is done the box will dissapear and firmware will flash.
Finally device will reboot and phone will be back to normal.
Hope it works for you. :good: Please thank me with the button if you appreciate my efforts. Please post in more appropriate places in future and someone will answer quicker. Sorry if this isn't what you wanted.

Thanks alot im going to try it out but, wil that make my phone normal? not root anymore?... if so that kinda sucks, i wish to have a rooted phone.
yes it will make it 'normal'. From there I suggest following a youtube tutorial about rooting properly. This way you will avoid bricking your device again.

DO you have any good new karnels? or any guides please? i followed one and bricked it so maybe the guide i used was bad? :S

Did my unbrick guide work? SO your device is ok now? I hope so.
Here is a mini guide about phone terms. Sorry if you know this already.
Rooting is simply giving your phone administrators rights. No roms or anything. Once rooted you could install clockworkmod which would allow you to install a rom that would work on you STOCK kernel (the one that comes with xperia).
A kernel is a set of instructions to a phone. different kernels or custom kernels (not stock) enable you to flash some more advanced roms as not all roms will work on STOCK kernel.
Also, in most cases, different kernels allow overclock and undervolt. These things allow you to make your device run faster.
Unlocking your bootloader is required to install a custom kernel. Unlocking a bootloader can be difficult and if done wrong, can brick your device completely.(make it useless like a brick) This is why I did not do it until a few days ago - because I was scared.
If I was to recommend a rom, I would say cyanogenmod (cm for short). They focus on getting the galaxy nexus android - pure version.
You flash kernels with flashtool. But you MUST have an unlocked bootloader to do this.
If your device is fixed now i would say google cyanogen mod 9(ice cream sandwich) or 10 (jelly bean). CM10 is less stable (not everything works) than cm9. but cm10 is more fun. make sure you look at guides for your device and not any random one.
Sorry for the lecture. Thank if you found this useful. I appreciate it. Sorry if this isn't what you wanted.

if you do not understand anything or want to ask anything else please feel free. Also you can check out videos of roms for your device on youtube and choose one you like. then look for tutorials on xda or youtube.

Hi almost everything worked out in the end just one problem left, the mobile network after rooting it tunring on and off like its droping the signal and after min it regains it, its a constant loop with network off and on.
Try switching on airplane mode and then switching off. This will restart your phone's radio and may fix this. Otherwise I am not sure. Great to hear it all went well

[Completed] [Q] (Kind of) urgent, whiped my whole phone, PC doesn't recognize phone

Alright, I admit, I have had smarter moves. I wanted to clean my phone a Sony Xperia S, remove everything, so it would be smooth again (lately it is just sooooo slow.) So I thought, whipe everything, clean install, voila.
Howeverrrr, I have been so smart to whipe my OS, and my SD card, so I can't install a new ROM, and my PC doesn't ofcourse recognize my phone, so I can't get a new ROM on it.
Any idea how to fix this?
Hi there,
I see you've already posted in the Xperia S Q&A section, that's the right place to ask and to wait for a response.
In the mean time, check this thread here: [GUIDE] Recover 2012 and newer XPERIAs from SOFT-brick
It may be of use, I had an Xperia T and using the flashmode/flashtool function should always save the device even when it doesn't boot and there is no OS
Hi,
Thanks for your answer, I'll take look there.
Sorry, I posted here too because it is well, kinda urgent since I really need my phone, and I have no idea how many active members have a Sony Xperia S, so for a quick answer I also came here.
EDIT: Well, the problem is, my PC doesn't recognize my phone, and Flashtool doesn't recognize it too...

Be sure to make sure you have drivers installed, I'd suggest checking here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2635830
Otherwise I'd wait and be checking the question in the Xperia S section. We're here just to send you in the right direction.

Hi! Alright, I got it all back working, thanks to you.
I used Flashtool 9.18, but that one kept crying about drivers.
So I downloaded flashtool 0.9.9.0 or something, and the firmware, and now my phone is booting again!
Could've thought of using Flashtool myself, but you sent me in the right direction! ^^ Thanks for your help!
Thank you and thread closed!

[Completed] [Q] Having issues rooting Note 3, not sure what to do.

I am unsure if I bricked my Sprint Note 3, but I tried to roo it with Chain Fire and odin, using Qbking77's YouTube video as a guide. But after the root was complete, 60% of my apps were gone, I can't using any google powered apps, and I can't go into the phones settings. Everything force closes. Honestly, I'm just trying to do a proper root so I can use Cyanogen Mod. Can someone help me revert to before I rooted, and explain the process to get cyanogen?
Thanks.
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. This is the correct root method for your device:
[SM-N900*] CF-Auto-Root
That didn't help. I followed the instructions provided, and downloaded
SM-N900P (Sprint): CF-Auto-Root-hltespr-hltespr-smn900p.zip
Followed the further stated instructions, open odin, and I cannot insert the MD5 file into odin. I was able to before, and now I cannot. Earlier I was able to do so, and as stated above, after I did it several apps disappeared, google play services no longer works, supersu is on the phone, and I cannot access the phones settings. The only thing I can do is use the stock browser. I am asking what to do/what I did wrong/how to fix it/or how to continue. If these questions cant be answered, how do I revert back to stock?

Ok, I misread your initial post, apologies. I think your best bet would be to ask in the Sprint Note 3 q&a section here:
Sprint Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
That way the experts for your device can shine a light on how you should proceed. Try to provide as much detailed and specific information as you possibly can and I'm confident you'll have a good resolution to your problem.

[Completed] Sony Xperia S - Lollipop Root

HI, i need your help please.. I installed about a month ago Lollipop on my Xperia S by some YouTube tutorial. There was a link for root package, but i forgot to install it before installing Lollipop, and now i cant get to CWM recovery, i tried (almost?) everything, so i cant install the rar, and one-click root sw/kingo root doesnt work for me ..
If i flash recovery again, will i lost my data/OS or something? I dont want to install etc. everything again so please, let me know how to deal with this. Also i turned off the "ambient thing", but its still pretty sensitive - it keeps unlocking itself when I put in on my bike or just when im trying to clean it which never happened to me before.
