Cannot Connect to Google Services - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1" and have a problem with it, it cannot connect to any Google services (play store, maps, etc). I thought this was a connection problem but other apps that required internet are works (TuneIn Radio, Soundcloud, etc) like they should be. I also thought something wrong with Google Play Services, so I uninstall Google Play Services updates and everything is now worse, all google app required Google Play Services to be updated so I can't open any of them.
So far I have tried :
1. Rebooting the tablet
2. Remove and re-add Google account
3. Switch the time and date between auto and manual
4. Delete hosts file
5. Clear Google Play Services, Google Play Store and Google Service Framework cache and data
6. Reconnect wi-fi
Please help I don't want to factory reset my tablet

Are you running stock firmware or rooted and custom ROM? Some ROMs have problems with play services.

I also have tried to update Google Play Services with Firefox, but nothing happens when I tap the install button.

[Q] New Play Store (4.0.25)?

Has anyone gotten the play store to auto-update to the new 4.0.x version? I know I could side-load it, but I was hoping for it to just auto-update to avoid hassles.
I've tried various combinations of clearing the play store and google services data, uninstalling their updates, and rebooting, and it re-updates them to the prior 3.x versions.
Is this just me? Anyone have suggestions on how to get this to update properly?

Well, I'd tried that before, with no luck. Maybe something snuck in before I restarted and it updated to the old version? Who knows.
This time, based on some other searching I'd done, I tried also clearing the data for Google Services Framework, and being sure to reboot as fast as I could after doing all that.
I also went in and looked at the app versions after restarting but before launching the play store, and it had quickly re-updated the Google Play Services app to I think the newest version (3.0.27, matches my Droid 4 that has the new play store). After launching the play store, it updated that, but only to 3.10.14 (I think it was 3.10.9 before), not 4.0.x.
So, still no luck

Google Play not auto-updating apps

Google Play doesn't seem to want to auto-update apps on my device, it's been like this for a few weeks since I clean installed of YNG1TAS17L, so I have to do it manually. It worked once when I set the option to "Auto-update apps at any time" but I can't risk using this as it would use up mobile data.
Any ideas on what the issue could be?

Are your Google Play Services updated?
Is your Google Play Store updated?
Did you try rebooting the device?
Have you forced stop or disabled any Google service?

Google Play Services is 7.3.29 (That's dated April 21st, but matches my Nexus 7 version and apps auto-update fine)
Play Store is 5.5.12
Also had lots of reboots
Only Google Play Movies & TV, Play Music, and Hangouts have been frozen
Also, my device installs new apps from the Play store when initiated from Google Play on a desktop PC no problem, but all the updates are still ignored, despite needing no permission changes.

Did you try changing the settings to default for Google Play Store?
Clear data and clear cache of this app
Reboot and try
If still it doesn't work, I guess you need to reinstall the OS

Next time disable any apps you are thinking of removing before you remove them so you can see if it causes issues, if it does you can just renable the app and be back to normal, if it doesn't cause issues then you would be safe to remove the app without issue, but this generally isn't the case with Google apps, messing with those will make the other Google apps fail to start or force close.
Find the versions of the removed apps that are compatible with your device and downloag them on PC then if the device responds to adb you can push the apks to the device and get then reinstalled.
If that doesn't work then download your stock firmware and flash the stock on your device to restore it.

Installation of google play services for a specific user profile

I wonder if I can create two (or more) user profiles on my android device, one of which I will use only open source stuff and everything else on the other.
As far as I know, it is possible to create several user profiles in Android that are isolated from each other.
I would probably install LineageOS for this as it doesn't have google play services pre-installed on it and it seems very "clean" in terms of these things (I have never used this system).
There is something like OpenGApps that allows you to install google play services but as far as I know it requires installation from twrp. So I suspect google play services will then be installed for all user profiles on the device.
So is there any possibility to install google services for one user only?
I also know that there is such a thing as microg (and Aurora stora). When I heard that there was such a thing as "LineageOS for microG" I thought it would be a very good option (on one android profile I just wouldn't use microg). But later I also found out that it is supposedly against the google policy and that they can ban my account for it, which I would prefer to avoid.
So I wanted to ask if the only option to do this is to install LineageOS, check what applications are installed by default, install OpenGApps to it and then disable all google related applications on one of the user profiles?
Does such disabling the application also ensure that Google will not be able to "work" on my device in any way? Does OpenGApps install any system level google stuff that will run in the background anyway?
And are OpenGApps not something that I should not install when I don't want to get a google ban?
You are confusing (Open)GApps - Google themselves call them Google Mobile Services (GMS) - and Google Play Services what are two completely different things.
Google Play Services is one of the most important parts of Android. It helps connect everything together and hold it all there. The Google Play Services are the interface to the Google Mobile Services as well as to the hardware functions of the Android device. Many of your apps use Google Play Services everyday.
GMS is a bunch of apps what includes
Google Play Store,
Google Now,
Google Play Music,
Google Maps,
Google+,
Gmail,
Google Photos,
Youtube
and the Android Device Manager.
Knowing the difference it should be clear that GMS can get installed on a per-user basis whereas Google Play Services not.

Thanks for the clarification, although I still don't really know what you meant. I thought that google play services is the name for all those components that are needed to run, for example, the google play store. If the google play store needs also other components (?), then when I wrote google play services, I meant all the components that are needed to run the play store.
In any case, I mean in practice whether I am able to install both the play store and the components needed for it only for one user in Android, but from what I understand it is not possible in your opinion.
The questions at the end of my post probably still remain the same. I can only clarify that I meant more general cases in these questions:
Does installing the play store (along with the necessary components) install any system-level Google stuff that will run in the background anyway even if I disable these apps?
And isn't installing the play store (along with the necessary components) by hand something that I shouldn't be doing when I want to avoid a Google ban?
Again:
Google Play Store simply is an ordinary user app as any other user app, too, nothing else. It itself installs , except some Android OS libraries, nothing. Only thing is it requires Google Play Services ( which are running in background ) to properly run. As already said: Google Play Services can only get installed once because it extends Android OS. And Android OS always is the same for all created users.
Don't understand what you mean with "Google ban".

You can install those apps but you have to flash it via recovery. Also, you need to do that prior to booting into the os for the first time, which I think is related to encryption.
If you already booted into your os, you need to boot into recovery and perform a factory data reset, then flash those gapps (as far as I know dirty flashing those gapps will introduce instability to those gapps. That's why you need a factory data reset).
Keep in mind that factory reseting will delete all your person data.
After you flashed it, those gapps will be available for every user

Aurora Store provides an anonymous google account. It's data isn't linked to you which means they cannot ban your account.

LOS comes without any google apps preinstalled. So first flash LOS, then OpenGApps (follow their official guide. They describe it there).
And yes, after that you have to disable every google app you don't want to use for every new user profile.

If you disable it for the current user, it won't run in any way, yes.
OpenGApps itself shouldn't install anything on system level. But those apps will be installed on system level since you flash them to the system (using your recovery). However, if you disable them they won't run in the background.

[STOCK ROM][NO ROOT][Android 4] Correct login to Google account after phone reset

There are devices with android 4 in which after a reset to factory settings or very long ago not updated, there is no way to log in to a Google or Samsung account. Here is a proven repair method.
Before you proceed with the repair, you need to be logged into your Google account from another device (phone, PC), to do verification of adding a new device.
The method was tested on an account with two-step login verification.
Remove Google account on the phone, uninstall updates and application data for Google Play and if installed, also Google Play Services.
Download on PC and upload to phone Google Play 5.1.1.
Download on PC and upload to phone Google Play Services. Download nodpi version or appropriate dpi for your phone. Depending on the amount of space on your phone and the correct operation of purchased applications in the Google Play, start testing from the lowest API.
Google Play Services (Android 2.3+)Google Play Services (Android 4.0+)Google Play Services (Android 4.1+)Google Play Services (Android 4.4+)On your phone, install first Googla Play and then Google Play Services.
Connect your phone to the Internet and wait a long while.
Launch Google Play. There will be a login process. Select an existing account (the one you are logged into on another device).
Approve on the other device messages, codes or other methods of authorization to add a new device to the account.
Check that everything works in the Google Play after you've finished adding your account and that store-bought apps refresh access to the full version (if not, make a copy of that app, uninstall it and reinstall it).
If anyone has checked their device and the guide works, please post about the model and any comments.
I confirm the correct operation of the described method on the original firmware for:
android 4.1.2 - LG Optimus 4X HD
android 4.2.2 - HTC One SV
android 4.4.2 - Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini LTE i9195
I can confirm that it partly works on my S3 mini (android 4.1.2): i can install apps from store, but the store crashes after a while

Google Play 5.1.1 is from 2014. If it doesn't download Google Play Services to your phone on its own, then start installing Google Play Services from versions released in 2014, and you won't have a crash. Unfortunately, old versions of services do not connect the store to your account, so you have to experiment on your own, and uninstall and install successive younger versions of Google Play Services for so long, until Google Play login works.
Have you tried logging into a newly created account?
What exact model of S3 are you using?
