[ROOT] ROOTABLE BOOT.IMG - sm-n750/7505 tw lollipop 5.1.1 - Galaxy Note 3 Neo Android Development

Upon request from another member I have modified the SM-N7505 5.1.1 N7505OXADOK2 boot.img to allow root on Samsung root restricted kernels.
UPDATE: SM-T705 N750XXUDOK5 boot.img added
This is a stock SELinux enforced kernel. Ensure you have a full back up with TWRP BEFORE proceeding.
Install instructions:
Download this - SM-N7505_boot_5.1.1.zip
or this SM-N750_boot_5.1.1.zip
Extract the boot.img from the zip then flash as an image with TWRP.
Reboot, ensure your device boots OK then flash BETA-SuperSU-v2.52.zip with TWRP.
Hopefully you now have root.
.

This is a eay to have root on s7505 with lollipop?

. .

Yes this will root the devices above running 5.1.1.

Must use Twrp? Or will this work with CWM recovery?

Twrp 2.8 Works. But 1) remove RE-BOOT in Odin. Than , remove your Battery !! HOME + VOL UP + POWER , wait 3 second... TADANNN , you are in recovery. 2) Click on right down on "ZIP" button , and it will change in" Image". 3) select the Flash in BOOT than flash the boot.img . 4) come back and Reclick on Image to change it again in ZIP. Now Flash The SuperUser !!! enjoyyyyy

How did you do this for SM-N750 ? Care to explain in a bit more detail ?
Do you use ODIN to flash TWRP recovery first ? Then from TWRP flash the img ? I see TWRP does not support the SM-N750 version on their download page.
Please kindly explain. Tq

Yeah sure
Download twrp from https://dl.twrp.me/hlltexx/
Download file named twrp-2.8.7.0-hlltexx-4.4.img.tar
TWRP works on lollipop.
Put the superuser.zip file and boot.img on phone.
Put phone in download mode.
Flash TWRP using odin while auto reboot is off.
Now after flashing is done remove usb and then remove battery and reinsert it.
Now press and hold power+volume up+home key together till you see twrp.
Now select install in twrp and on bottom right side there is image button click on that.
Now goto place where you placed boot.img and flash it in boot partition.
Now go back to main menu of twrp goto install and click on button where image was written before(something else must be written there like zip or something like that.i dont remember.)
Now flash superuser file and reboot.
Finish.

So you are saying now TWRP hlltexx for SM-N7505 also works SM-N750 (Hl3g) as well?
If so that will be great. I read from the TWRP thread it will brick the phone and will need to flash the ROM again.

[Q] BIG Problem with recovery! don't know what to do!!

Hey!
i got a problem .. it's been 4 hours and could not solve it!!
i tried to root my device today
unlocked boot-loader " Done "
but could not root " install Supersu "
when i flash a CWM recovery .. could not move anything into my phone!
i pressed at " Usb mount storage " nothing happened
flashed too many versions
tried to flash TWCP .. it does not work at all!! when i wrote the command " Flash ...... " it makes the device reboot
then black screen!!!
any help ? i need it so hard
Thank u
Good news .. Finally i could flash the TWRP!
but still could not flash rom!
i could not also mount USB storage
can any one explain this step : " Select supers " how could i select something if it is not into my phone and i can't mount!
FLASH "SUPERSU.MOTOG.ZIP"
1) Wait for screen to time out
2) Awaken device with the power button
3) Tap "Install"
4) Select "supersu.motog.zip"
5) Swipe to install
Which TWRP version did you use? I found that only version TWRP2631 works for me. As to the SuperSU thing. I was in TWRP and up popped a message that SuperSU wasn't install and did I want to install it? I replied "yes" and it did it for me.

Restore phone to stock firmware with guide here on xda so it boots properly. Then place supersu.zip on phone. Last flash cwm.
From cwm flash supersu.zip and voila stock firmware with root. This is exactly how I did it on my phone.

After you fresh install the rom you need to deknox your phone otherwise it wont work. So here we go.
1) Go and Download the " philz_touch_6.12.8-i9500.tar.md5 " located on this website
http://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/i9500

Now go to the Philz recovery you just installed with odin..
-Flash the Deknox Removal Script <-- Click Here to direct download (VIA RECOVERY)
(Original DeKnox Thread) <-- Click Here to check out the hole theme (optional not needed)
After you flash the Knox removal script you are ready to go rooting your device.
Now go to
-Philz Options / Choose Re-root system / Choose Yes Apply (SuperSu)
-Wait until it finish, Reboot and install SuperSu from playstore
-Once installed, Open SuperSu app / It will ask you to update binaries click on Update as normal (NOT TWRP)

it should not have any boot problems at all. Since we are only giving root permisions,
Install the new 4.4.2 Kit Kat rom from Russia using odin 3.09v.. Then Flash via odin 1.85 (on this thread) the latest philz. go to Philz Settings , choose "Re-root system (supersu) , click "Yes - Apply SuperSu" wait some seconds, Reboot your phone, install SuperSu from playstore and you are done..

3) Download SuperSU
4)Remove Knox and update BInary

I have CWM installed as a recovery and this works fine - im guessing you do too.
You need the 'Superuser' zip file put onto your moto g. You can just connect the moto g to your pc and send it to it this way. No need to push it with CMD or anything.
Get a file explorer from the play store and just check that the 'superuser' zip file has been copied across fine to your moto g - it should have.
Then boot into bootloader and choose recovery and CWM Recovery should be there on screen - choose to install zip from sd card and then you will have the superuser zip to install.
Install this and then reboot and you should be up and running.
Not the best guide sorry but its got the info you need!
I used;
http://www.reddit.com/r/MotoG/comments/22mimr/the_guide_to_rooting_the_motog_with_a_howto/
But at step 13 it didnt work for me so i manually found the superuser zip file and used my method to install from CWM Recovery
Here is the location of the Superuser zip ;

If u have already unlocked bootloader copy recovery n supersu zip file where adb files n fastboot r located
1-open cmd
2-type adb devices (u will get daemon successfully like that)
3-type fastboot flash recovery (recovery file name). zip
4-open recovery go to adb sideload n type adb sideload (supersu file name). zip
5-restart systsm

if you have an unlocked bootloader than go to developer options by tapping on build number 5 times which is in about and then turn on usb debugging and then enter fastboot on your phone and connect the usb cable. Download the adb drivers and place the cwm recorvery.img in that folder, then hold shift and right click on the folder you downloaded (adb drivers) and then type this in "fastboot flash recovery NAME OF RECOVERY.IMG and enter, it would flash the recovery, but dont exit the bootloader just yet, enter recovery by clicking volume down and volume up to enter and then reboot.

hello guys
i installed cm11 through one click installer had cwm on it now suddenly after reboot its taking me to simple recovery?!?
dont know what happened..need help
in my rom manager app its still showing current recovery as cwm 6.0.4.5 but when i reboot to recovery it takes me to simple recovery
pls help!
ok edit : when i go to recovery from rom manager app it takes me to cwm but when i do it manually ( advanced power button and volume + power button) it takes me to simple?
edit again : when i click on install from sd card (to install m9) it takes me back to simple recovery even from within rom manager??
first off, get rid of rom manager. itll has so many issues and will cause you many headaches. what you did first is not flash a recovery to your device, you just booted it. thats only for a one time use. you need to flash the custom recovery to have it permanently on your phone.
Reflash your recovery. And I recommend TWRP. I hear complaints ALL the time with CWR due to bugs but never TWRP. I've used CWR in the past on my Droid X. But I've since gone TWRP and I'm never looking back.

use the flashify app, its free, and can be used to flash other things besides a recovery. its a great app. you dont need rom manager to get into a recovery ever. if you press the power button(long), youll get a menu, press reboot. then youll get 3 more option, reboot/recovery/bootloader, press recovery(after you use flashify to flash your recovery).
I recommended Rom Installer over Flashify. It will download your recovery for you and keep it up to date. It will provide ROM updates. Also you can create a queue of zips to flash before you reboot. Then it flashes them automatically. It's a really good app. Way better then ROM Manager. Made by Jrummy so you know it's good . Not trying to bash @simms22. It's just my preferred app.

Reflash your recovery. And I recommend TWRP. I hear complaints ALL the time with CWR due to bugs but never TWRP. I've used CWR in the past on my Droid X. But I've since gone TWRP and I'm never looking back.

in my rom manager app its still showing current recovery as cwm 6.0.4.5 but when i reboot to recovery it takes me to simple recovery
when i go to recovery from rom manager app it takes me to cwm but when i do it manually ( advanced power button and volume + power button) it takes me to simple?

it wont cause any problems, and please get rid of rom manager. really, it WILL cause you more headaches than its worth, and it already has.

No. UNINSTALL ROM Manager now please. It's causing issues. Custom recoveries replace stock ones. Flash TWRP or CWR using the methods we suggested.

@ayush88 Use root Checker app to make sure you have root. That could explain why you have recovery issues

Rooting M with chainfires kernel?? Recovery not available??

Does anyone else find that rebooting to recovery using twrp doesn't happen? I've tried re flashing recovery with fastboot and even selecting in bootloader boot to recovery after and still just boots into android.. Any ideas? Is it chainfires boot.img causing the problem?

Try unplugging phone from power source then attempt to enter TWRP.
I have done. I've just downloaded selinux changer app. Set permissive and then re flashed twrp again and now I can access it.

Would u mine to share the link to the selinux changer app please

How you install custom kernel without TWRP?
My device is stock and i want to install elementalx + supersu to root. But i need TWRP first.
Fastboot the img file of twrp then boot into recovery from the bootloader
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Got the same problem - I flash the TWRP image with fastboot successfully but when I try to enter recovery, it either reboots or shows me the stock recovery. I'm on stog Android 6, trying to flash a different rom and kernel...
we are on the same boat @granets . when i boot to custom recovery it just boots directly to homescreen.
Have you tried the other kernel i linked above?

Left the boat earlier by downloading TWRP again (for a third time!!!) and it worked fine. Guess when downloading from their site, there is a high percent chance you will get a corrupted file. So far around 50% of all images I download don't work, and every time the problem is different. Maybe try that
