there will most likely never be "Andriod for the Jack, i617, or i607 or i600". And if it does happen to get developed it wont be by you. Your threads are pointless and you have never provided any info that isnt 100 other places. Stop taking credit for others work. "Your apps"? You have NO apps. Can I get a hooah?

and ya i do make apps just finish it two days ago nottach
What "app" have you created that isn't just other people's work bundled into a single package?
So you want Andriod on your Jack to make it look pretty? So you want an Andriod theme. Not the OS. There's a section here on xda specifically for themes. you should be posting there. http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=525
Are you using Google translate for posting? I probably wouldn't have posted that if you weren't constantly butchering my native language. Your posts are a bunch of incoherent random thoughts. Learn some grammar and punctuation. Even the native Chinese or Spanish speaker's posts are more proper than yours, and you live in the U.S., according to your flag.
You joined Jan 2010 and you've got over 250 posts! And in 250 posts you said something informative maybe twice.
Take your eyes off your phone, stop thinking how you can make it prettier, make the world prettier.
stll looking for more people who wants to join this team to make this rom happen.Already have 4 people so far need 2 more people who are good at designing and a person who knows alot about windowsmobile phones like me but u have to know lot about standard devices thene we would be able to get started on the rom

OK motorola's bootloader begin to loose maybe we should start working on that

Any XDA hacker port this to moto defy??
http://www.wix.com/palmercurling/project-bootloader-freedom
in a while the download links should be up
Nice, nice... very nice...
it should work on defy, droid2, ms2, x,cliq2, maybe we need to do some minor changes but i think it should work.
This is very good news indeed.
Shift this thread to Development. Everyone have to put in some time to test this. With the new XDA rules coming into effect, it should clearly be in something more concrete and out of reach of novice users.
The game has begun for some much wanted fun. thank you thread starter.
Indeed perfect news.
Sounds very promising!
If we get that bootloader problem fixed so that we can load custom kernels, the Moto phones are really awesome. Good quality and good price!

Cyanogenmod and gingerbread would make it perfect
Released first test version: http://aliasxerog.wordpress.com/
Hi, looks realy good!
but how we can build it for defy?
Is the defy slower with kexec??
We r waiting someone to port this on defy.
Maybe will see cm7!!
It's possible with this method!
We need development
Sent from my MOTO Defy
Could someone compile it for us?
Source are there!
Ironically the page at wix.com is an all-Flash web site which can't be accessed from the 2.1 phones* whose bootloaders were never unlockable.
*Yes I know there are leaked builds out there.

This getting interesting!!!
MOTO wants to unlock the bootloader!!!!!
Sent from my MOTO Defy
Wow. Really interesting ! I'll paste the Motorola comment here too :
We apologize for the feedback we provided regarding our bootloader policy. The response does not reflect the views of Motorola.
We are working closely with our partners to offer a bootloader solution that will enable developers to use our devices as a development platform while still protecting our users' interests. More detailed information will follow as we get closer to availability

I hope that Motorola hears us screaming

I dont believe this!
This might be a fake!
Cant be real!
Why Motorola does motorla change there policy??
Defy is realy a god phone and sells from alone!
Why they do this?
Maybe not for defy!
For next device i guess!!
I hope!
This would realy good!Nice!Best!
Motorola gain bad reputation ,because locked bootloader, from devs.
When the simple user want to try something new on Motorola's phone always get the same "NOTHING".
So they get bored and buy a new phone that has realy support for custom ROMs ect...
This is my opinion, I'm very happy with my Defy, but I'll never buy another phone with locked bootloader!!!
If Motorola does something about that, like unlock this devices then my next phone will be Motorola again!

Well said, same for me here. I'm really looking forward to this module and I hope it will work for the Defy.
Motorola maybe will not be the next, but with unlocked bootloader have better chances.

Totally Agreed.
I love my Defy, but if this "look elsewhere" situation keeps, I'll do it.
Please HTC, make us a sexy durable waterproof phone that accepts custom ROMs!
We could call it... oh screw it, I could never make it in marketing, but someone must have a good name idea.

WebOS ?

how about porting webos guys ? the source code was released just recently, so therefor there are no restrictions anymore !
i'd love to help with porting, if i knew where to begin . i guess the first step would to get the sources, set the environment up, build/ compile and then roll. but it's what i do afterwards, when i'm supposed to "roll", and actually modify some code and do some actual porting.
anyways, it would be great if somebody could port it, i'm gonna give it a shot but i'm likely to end up nowhere ...

Just curious, why would you want WebOS? Android beats the heck out of it IMHO. I don't think that any developer would spend time on porting it because there are so many other things to work on in Android for this device. Just my 2c.
It does have some nice features, but nothing you can't get from Android with a theme and a few widgets, plus you get all the apps of the google market vs the dead webos app scene.
Well, the idea would be to help jumpstart the WebOS scene again.
Sure, Android may be better supported, but someone would use WebOS. Heck, I'd give it a shot if it worked well enough. Always good to have options.
There is nothing wrong with WebOS aside from the lack of apps. Although, the lack of apps is a huge drawback. Even when the HP Touchpad price dropped to $99, everyone bought it up hoping to get Android running on it.

[Q] Can someone port 4.2, 4.3, or 4.4 when it comes out?

I know other devices have custom ROMs that port OS updates even if they're not officially supported. Can someone do this for this phone? I'm tired of waiting for HTC, and we're already 3 updates behind.
To port from which device?
To our device is not likely to be the new kernel source code.

Is that policy just for htc? Because I saw a lot of devices has no official jb but have custom ones.
This devices have some skilled dev's who know how to do!

I know the Galaxy Nexus is getting a 4.4 ROM, even though it's not officially getting the update. Why doesn't someone do that for our phone?
@deathvoxxxx
we are lucky enough to have small handful of awesome devs that own this phone.
what they develop for us is completely up to them.
ONLY if they decide to post a 'request' thread, is it 'cool' to keep asking questions like when and why and why not?
usually the answer is
Why don't you do it yourself?
and then you say 'sheesh! I was just asking'
and then they get annoyed and lose interest in developing anything else for us, so please, please, please don't ask ridiculously unneeded questions like these. some/most devs find them rude.

So let's ask something unusual.
How complicated is it to go from Android 4.2 to Android 4.4 ? (For HTC, and for a dev? )
And compare to 4.1 to 4.2 transition, how is it ? (easier, harder?)
Is there a big change in the drivers, that require intervention from hardware manufacturer? Or is it possible to re-use the same driver from 4.2 ?
If drivers are the same, how complicated is it to go from Android source code with 4.2 drivers to a ROM ?
I'm not a developper, i don't do code. But identifying the tricky parts and requirements might be a good start. (Let's not talk about Sense for now)
Our SoC is a very common one. So Driver wouldn't be so hard to get?
Maybe HTC will follow 18months support recommendation from Google and grant us with a new update in May 2014 (18 months after nov. 2012)
Our phone was a "transition", to keep people waiting for their HTC One flagship. It also was in a tought financial period for HTC with decreasing sales. So a little consideration would be welcome...
I remember that in France, the press was talking about the ONE. They "used" the buzz in ads, calling it the HTC ONEsv (with big ONE and very little sv so you almost don't see it from the car on in the subway ... ) It is called as part of the One family, but it is a Desire family model...

Some thoughts on CloudyFA

I don't even know if this is the right place to post, but sure. This is just a complaint thread. Please don't ban me for saying my mind.
So recently I was looking at the G4 ROM for the G3 and all the other CloudyFA stuff and people think he is some god. Guess what, he is not.
It does not take much effort to port a LG stock ROM to another LG device. I have done it before and it took me 5 minutes to port the frameworks and about 10 to copy and paste all the apps. I bet if you asked him to port the Samsung Galaxy S6 UI to the LG G4 he wouldn't be able to do it. If a 8th grader can port the G3 UI to the LG Ultimate 2 then it can't be that hard. He is not a super dev, he just knows how to copy and paste files and graphics. But he is still good at what he does.
My point is that anyone can do it. You don't need to be a mastermind to port a ROM. I hope this motivated a few people who wanted to port but didn't think they could.
And those are my thoughts. I just like to explain the truth.

I have a sprint LG G flex and there is 0 development for that device. There are several people that own that device that would probably donate if someone could port a working G3 ui or even a ported G2 lollipop rom. Let me know.

There is no place for your thread. So posting here or anywhere, doesn't matter....
And your point, well again there is no point.
Btw, what have you done to provide to XDA, I see nothing in your 50ish posts. Why don't you take up development and provide to XDA. Then maybe you can have those bash you also...
And thank you for your thoughts, although useless, and your point. All noted...and
Thread closed.
