Playing games (FIFA16) from external hard disk ! - Shield Q&A

Hello,
First sorry for my bad English and for my deficiencies in technological knowledge !!
I would like to buy a Nvidia Shield TV Box as a successor to my old Android TV Box (=K-R42 Quad Core Google Android TV Box).
For streaming (playing) games i need a faster internet connection but thats my problem because my (inconstant) internet speed is about 10 to 20 Mbit/s.
So is it possible to "download" the game FIFA16 (for example) to an external hard disk (which is connected to the USB 3.0 port) and then to play it from there ?
Thanks and best regards ?

No is not. You can install some emulators and play games, but you're talking about a games that is brand new and there's not an emulator to play it.
Another option you have is to install it on your PC and then stream the game to the SHIELD using GeForce Experience.
But playing the game directly from the HD us not possible.

NVidia Shield acting as a "controller" for other devices and cross device syncing
Hey Guys,
I have searched and would like to know 2 things:
1) Can the Shield be used as a simple bluetooth controller for other devices? Say I want to play a game on a larger tablet. I know in console mode the other way can work (another blue controller controls the shield), but I want to know if the shield can control say a nexus 10.
2) Is it easy to have cross device syncing of emulators? I want to play say, Mario 64 on my shield on the bus ride home and then switch to my larger tablet and continue.
Thanks guys!

I dont think so, well at least Nvidia doesnt say any word on it in their features. But I guess with some additional software and/or maybe Root it will be possible, but why would you need it to act as a Just Controller ? I mean 250$ controller too expensive, dont you think? You can play any Android games on it, so you dont need controller for Android tablets, Xbox360 doesnt have bluetooth, PS3 has its own controller which is much cheaper and I think even better. If you plan on using it for PC games, whats a point if you can Stream PC games to Shield and play on TV in other room?

[Q] 8 questions

We all know that the SHIELD is meant to play. But there are some things i would like to know about.
1) Do i can use the same apps i use on tablets and smartphones? You know, social networks, office suites, google drive, MX Player, wikipedia and others? Will i need some kind of workaround?
2) Is it possible to connect a keyboards, mouses, USB sticks and USB HUBs through a OTG cable?
3) Does the streaming works with most Windows games or select games only? The games can only be streamed through WAN, right?
4) Is it possible to install APKs? I want it for testing the apps i am developing.
5) Does it feature a accelerometer for certain games (Like Infinite Flight) or some kind of way to emulate it?
6) Is it possible to play games that use MOGA controllers? (Asphalt 8, Block Story)
7) Is there some app i can use for stream the Xbox 360 to Shield?
8) How much i can play while not in charge?

1) Do i can use the same apps i use on tablets and smartphones? You know, social networks, office suites, google drive, MX Player, wikipedia and others?
They all work
2) Is it possible to connect a keyboards, mouses, USB sticks and USB HUBs through a OTG cable?
From what I've heard, yes.
3) Does the streaming works with most Windows games or select games only? The games can only be streamed through WAN, right?
Controller compatible only, unless you launch it through the Steam browser, functionality is not guaranteed. Yes, WLAN.
4) Is it possible to install APKs? I want it for testing the apps i am developing.
Yes, same as any Android device.
5) Does it feature a accelerometer for certain games (Like Infinite Flight) or some kind of way to emulate it?
?
6) Is it possible to play games that use MOGA controllers? (Asphalt 8, Block Story)
Yes, if the controller is not supported by default, you can download custom mapping made by users by long pressing the "start/play" button.
7) Is there some app i can use for stream the Xbox 360 to Shield?
I... I would think it's feasible... You would need a fast capture card, really fast,, like no delay, and a USB prog device for the system.
8) How much i can play while not in charge?
I've gone 5-6 hours running 3D intensive games and about 7-8 hours running regular apps with maybe some music.

Infinite flight requires you to tilt your devices to the sides and or upside down like you were actually controlling a airplane.
Also, Racing Games like Asphalt 8 makes you tilt your devices to the sides to turn the car.
Does NVIDIA Shield supports this kind of games? Is there someway i can emulate this through the keymapper?
Anyway. I still have more questions.
9) Does the Shield work with USB 3G/4G Modems? Can i use modems with SD card readers?
10) Do i can use Bluetooth/USB keyboard and mouse for using the OS (Navigation, youtube, facebook, others)? Do i need
11) Do can i use keymapper with external controllers (Like MOGA or Xbox 360)?
12) Is there some way i can charge the Shield while using a USB HUB? Is it worthful?
13) Is the screen good enough for reading/editing documents?
14) The HDMI cable must be mini or can it be normal HDMI?
15) What is the maximum SD Card storage size?

It does work with my mom's 4g modem. I'd think so if it works for other Android devices... That's just wireless storage correct? If so, then yes.
10) Do i can use Bluetooth/USB keyboard and mouse for using the OS (Navigation, youtube, facebook, others)? Do i need
I've seen people connect a mouse to the Shield, never a keyboard... I never tried BT though but am certain it will work.

You can connect those controllers, I think (not sure) you can use Nvidias settings to use external controllers.
12) Is there some way i can charge the Shield while using a USB HUB? Is it worthful?
Mine charges when I have my external USB port plugged in via USB and power connections, when the power is cut it won't charge, just sends and receives data.
13) Is the screen good enough for reading/editing documents?
I read PDF's and manga all the time on this thing, most of my college texts books I read of here. DO NOT BUY BOOKS FROM THE AMAZON MARKET PLACE (Kindle books)!!! MOST DO NOT WORK, sadly... Ended up spending $140 for some E-books and wasn't even able to get a refund.
14) The HDMI cable must be mini or can it be normal HDMI?
Mini-HDMI to HDMI/Composite
15) What is the maximum SD Card storage size?

64GB is the biggest MSD there is... Isn't it?_?

Does the Shield support HTML5 Gampegad + DeviceOrientation + DeviceMotion APIs
Hi,
Can someone with a shield please tell me if gamepad api works on Chrome and FireFox, it would be kind of daft if it doesn't.
Could you also please check device orientation and device motion works ( I tried to add links, but it wouldn't let me sorry!!) their are websites for testing these easily found on Google
If these work then I'll get one,
Thanks

It's only 200 Dollars. If it is going to hurt you that bad to spend that amount of money then you don't really need one do you? If it turns out you don't like it you can turn around and sell it on ebay for near the original 200 you paid. The average selling price on ebay for new, near new is still 175 to 200 dollars. Used you can still get 150 to 175 dollars. So you really have nothing to loose by buying one.

[Q] Games played on Android and PC

I've been searching for awhile now, and can't find what I'm looking for. I'm looking for a local multiplayer game that you play on PC and android devices simultaneously. An example would be a card game where each person's hand would be on their phone, and the card table would be on the PC where every body could see. I have my PC connected to my TV, so something like this would be awesome for when we have people over. They could communicate through either WiFi, or Bluetooth. I know there are a few games like this that uses Chromecast, but I have no need for that considering my computer is connected to my TV already. Does anybody know if games like this exist? If not..why not!? Thx in advance for any feedback.
Well man i guess you can use an android emulator on pc such as bluestacks or something...search for it and read about it

Questions about the shield tablet

Hello,
I was thinking of getting a shield tablet but I have some questions about the different types of games available and their keyboard/mouse support. I have read a lot, but unfortunatelly I have some things that are not clear for me.
1. If I buy a bluetooth keyboard/mouse, I can use these only while using game streaming ? Or can I also use them for the android apps ( ex: the talos principle )
2. There are 2 different types of streaming games, right ?; One is from their cloud servers and one is from your computer through geforce experience ( I have the 770GTX so streaming should be ok ) ?
3. I have a Unitymedia combo modem/router that can not be set in bridge mode. Does this mean I cannot stream from my computer, but I can stream from their cloud servers if I have the membership that costs the 8 euroes/month ?
4. If I connect the tablet to the TV with a miniHDMI cable will I have input lag ? For instance if I connect my laptop to the TV I have some lag; I move the mouse and the cursor moves on the screen in about 200ms later. Should I look for a more "special" miniHDMI cable to avoid this latency problem ?
5. Can I use for multiplayer local coop games the controller for one person and the keyboard/mouse for another ?
Thanks for your time !

Webcam games for Android TV

Hello,
I just bought TV with built in Android and web-camera.
I am looking for some games, which are similar to Kinect or Playstation Move ones and I have not found any. My kids enjoyed playing PC games like that:

Do you know any similar Android games?
