I recently got an Nexus 5 and been wanting to try Encore with it. But its unable to locate the music i put in the music folder on the phone?
Tried it a while back on my Z3 Compact with music on the sd-card and there i had no problems with local content.
When i select "My songs" its all blank pages. Restarted the phone a few times with no luck.
Been searching for answers but cant find any, not even an faq?

Hello,
Are you running Android 6.0 Marshmallow? We've just issued an update (which will appear in the coming hours) on the Play Store that fixes issues with local storage on Android 6.0.
Let me know if you're still having issues!
browsing local media does not work
I have the same issue using using Android 7.1.2.
Encore doesn't find local media files.
Any help is appreciated.

I even tried the thread below using the TCMP, I cannot even goto Google & watch a news video thru Windows Media Player. Running Black Satin & my carrier is T-Mobile the phone is Supper Cid. Any help would be much appreciated.

I live in Canada and managed to get the Google Music Service via US Proxy. I've uploaded a couple of songs to test it out but I don't see the song on my Transformer .
Do I need to update to the latest Google Music App(an apk exists on the web)? Also, does this app overwrite the Music App already on my transformer? Or should I just wait for ICS (2 weeks...) and it will have the updated version.
Thanks.
I got G Music working by signing up via a proxy service. TO sign up it wants you in the USA, but once signed up it doesn;t care where you are located....It does have some drawbacks tho....for instance I couldn't find a way to move the storage location (ie to the MicroSD), also it renames your music from the original file name to 101.mp3, 102.mp3 etc.....much like Itunes does....I hate this feature it means that I can't simply browse the Music folder and send/copy a file off to share if i want

I had the same issue, but after a few resets the app asked me to login to my Google account and my uploaded songs started showing. I didn't really need to do anything, didn't update the app. I,m on Brazil btw.
How-to: use Google Music from anywhere (yes, outside of the United States) -- Engadget
http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/19/how-to-use-google-music-from-anywhere-yes-outside-of-the-unit/
Hi guys, i'm here with a problem. So basically i downloaded music from some online site, with my android device. Everything worked fine, but then i though i should transfer music to another folder, cause i could accidentaly clear my download folder. So i did it, and now my music player is not finding my music.
I tried:
*Transfering back to original directory
*Clearing data, restart
*I'm unable to find any nomedia file
*I tried different music apps.
I really hope that someone can help me with that. Btw i'm using 4.4.2 android kitkat
EDIT: So i feel like i'm the dumbest person in the world. I checked my music files, and realized they dont have any extensions. Somehow the extensions got erased when i was moving my files.
This happened when I upgarded to nougat on my s7 edge and now occurs on my s8 plus. The first thing I noticed is that video and image titles have changed to random numbers. The second issue being that the player can no longer skip to the next video [or image] despite being in the same folder. However, these features work inside the stock samsung gallery app. The next video in the queue can be played and titles show appropriately. I do not have encryption on and I've tried a factory reset. Could this be some security measure in nougat / touchwiz or what is going on. Anyone experience this?
Can't skip to next file anymore
Hi there,
I've got exactly the same problem described by fourskim but on a Motorola Moto Play Z with Nougat
I'm not able to skip to the next video in an directory anymore.
It doesn't matter at all, which kind of data manager app i use to get a list of the files and
it doesn't matter if it is an internal directory, or a directory on SD-Card, or on a USB-Stick....
It's not very handy closing the mxplayer after every single file, searching the next file, and start the mxplayer again.
I've got the PRO Version - but it is the same with free Version....
Ne ver had this issue with MXPLAYER all the years before.
Any ideas ?
best regards, wsdweb

It's because nougat changes. It no longer allows the app to pass the file path to external apps. They are forced to use content scheme.
MX Player will receive something like content://com.sample.app/something. When MX Player can't detect the directory, it can't play previous or next videos from that directory.
We are working on that. It will be fixed on upcoming MX Player v1.9.0.
I'm surprised this hasn't gotten any coverage from any android site thus far. If you have local music files (aka not streaming, files you've uploaded to google play music) you can no longer play these files with voice commands. Google claims to be looking into it but it hasn't been fixed in months.

is the only place i can find talking about it.
is anyone else having this problem and unhappy about it?

I just got a new phone and I guess my old Nexus 5 (which I had upgraded to Nougat) didn't seem to have a problem but my new LG V30 has it. I can't seem to call on music like I used to, just by saying an artist or an artist and a song. I am not playing locally stored music (although that would also be nice) but music that I uploaded to the Google Play Music library. A terrible decision if this is how it is going to be.

I'm running Nougat on my Xperia Z5.
When I tell the Google Assistant «Play the song "track title"», it searches in YouTube and tries to open YouTube app. However, sometimes it plays it from my local storage using Google Play Music app.
But whenever I disconnect my phone from internet, Google Assistant always plays the song from phone's local storage using the same command.
By the way, it's very irritating that I have to turn off Wi-Fi and mobile data whenever I wanna play a song from my phone's storage.
