Uber is now available for the S2 - Samsung Gear S2

Just downloaded it from the Gear app store, and seems to be working nicely from a quick glance. Didn't book a car yet, but it connected to my account, found my location etc. Also seemed to be working on 3g with the watch remotely connected to the phone (not via BT), which means it should work even if the phone isn't on you (though I'd totally test this for real before counting on it )

Annoying that you need a companion phone app even if you have the normal app installed on your phone, bit seems to work well.

Agree, though at least it seems to also work when connected remotely to the phone, so hopefully this means you don't need to have the phone with you for it to work.
For those interested, eBay app is now also available in the store since earlier today...

I can't see an Uber app in the Gear store. Is it a paid app, and are you on Samsung phones?

I also can't find it in the store. Probably not available in every country...

I'm in the US though. My guess is the same Samsung-phones-only restriction that applies to paid apps also applies to free apps that support some kind of in-app billing - which Uber would have to, if it plugs into a separate app instead of the regular Play Store one.
I really hope Samsung fixes this soon.

Strange indeed...I can see it now and it's even on the Staff Picks section (see attached). My full setup - Tmo 3G Gear S2; Tmo Samsung Note 4 phone, in the US on Tmo network

Hi everyone! Can anyone get the installation file from the Samsung App store and upload it here? it's possible?

Even with paid apps now showing up, presumably meaning everyone should have access to all the same apps, I still can't see the Uber app in the store!
Maybe the S2 sport and classic have different hardware numbers or something, and Uber did something dumb and only enabled the app for one of them? I'm on classic; any other classic users want to chime in with whether or not you can access the Uber app?

I'm on sport version and I still can't find this app in the store. News about Uber is fake? I didn't find any information about it but this forum

I tried contacting Uber support about this and they replied with instructions to download the phone app. Replied letting them know it's customary to read support tickets before answering them. Will update if I get anything useful from them.

Just switched phone from Samsung Galaxy Alpha to Blackberry Priv. Uber S2 app was available on the Alpha but can't find it on the Priv. Pretty annoying. Anyone else notice the same?

I can not find the app in Gear Store - Have a Gear S2 sport version - bought in Norway.
Uber responded this on twitter to me:
"@SimenPR Please note that the Uber app is only available for the S2 model."
Very little helpful in other words.... I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge..

PS Touch Updated to 1.5.0 on Google Play

I noticed that PS Touch was Updated to 1.5.0 on Google Play.
Do you thing we will be getting an update for the APP or do you think the update will come in the next OS update from Samsung???

I just went into the Play store, and it let me download the new version... I store all of my projects to the Cloud service, so I just synced it and disabled the old copy... if you haven't tried it yet, the changes are very small - although I have to say it feels a bit more responsive, the icons seems a bit refined, and it does sync a bit faster than the previous versions... overall, not a massive/life-changing upgrade, but it's possibly worth it if you use it alot. :cyclops:

Was just about to post asking what the improvements are and if I should bother upgrading. I use photoshop daily, but still prefer to work on my laptop and rarely use it on my tablet.

No worries! I've only started using PS at all, so the mobile one is 'simple' enough for me to get accustomed to it... the PS on my laptop is a bit of a monster.

Haha I feel like the Mobile one is more confusing compared to the desktop version. Finding everything I'm used to on the tablet has been a learning experience that I'm still going through.
I do find using the stylus (S-Pen) to be useful though. A lot more accurate than I thought it'd be

I think I must have purchased it some time ago on my old tab... hadn't thought of that - think it was on sale, grabbed it and a bunch of others. According to my Google Account purchases, I'm a bit of an app-whore, apparently.

Good question! PS Touch came with my Note 10.1 and Google Play is not giving me an update. I assume if I uninstall PS Touch and reinstall I would have the newest version, but Google Play does not recognize I own the app or have it installed.
Anyone else having this issue?
I'm the same I guess from personal experience with apps there are some that won't update cause of who has them I've bought apps on amazon that won't update on the playstore so I guess being that this is for the Samsung app store it goes that way to

That's right, I forgot that since the PS Touch came with the Note 10.1 that it is getting it's updates from the Samsung app store, not google. Thanks for reminding me. Looking at the Samsung App Store, they are still offering the version I currently have. I assume at some point they will get the newest version in their queue.

You can find it here (Samsung App Store) http://content.samsung.com Login, click Samsung apps at the top and then type Photoshop in the search box, it will show up as a free app but the version is 1.4.2, last updated Dec 19, 2012.
I purchased SketchBook Pro for Galaxy Note from Samsung App Store, it has a different start screen and it does not show up in Google Play as a purchase but some apps that you install from the Samsung App Store re-direct you to Google play and install from there but I think they are free apps.

However, it's not a good way to treat customers... if they'll receive no updates for more apps (btw NFS Most Wanted for my N7100 not updated since many months), no one will be using samsung store, and i don't think it's what samsung wants as they are updating their store ("hubs") in an intensive manner, recently.
Sketchbook apps for note devices are in exclusive versions with spen support, that's a different story, they are great, and there is no other official source.
But atm it is a risk to buy a non-exclusive app from samsung if it is also reachable via google, as you can be left with no further updates.
Anybody tried contacting with samsung support? They are going to update PST? Or no such a plans?

There are many people complaining about it not being updated to 1.5 and samsung apps is bad at updating anything or even taking care of their store, I got the avengers game from there as they were giving it away free but when downloaded the game doesn't even start and they haven't updated that and couldn't even be bothered to check the user comments all complaining about this issue.
I went to the photoshop touch forum on adobe's website and saw that there were people complaining about not getting updates and the repliers who I think work on the app didn't know how to solve the problem and that was a post complaining about not getting an update for 1.2....or was it 1.3, anyways they still haven't solved the problem since then and I doubt they care as the app came free with the note 10.1
I went to ask about why upload to cloud doesn't work and was told to update to 1.5 so said about the problem to him and he didn't have an answer for me about the update issue, he kind of changed the subject
I like photoshop touch and it seems to have the biggest canvas I've used without any slowdown or relentless bugs like one art app I gave up with and just unistalled, another art app sketchbook ink, had high hopes for that but seems whatever you paint zoomed in shows blotchy when zoomed out so that's more money I lost on art apps that didn't work properly but apart from the really annoying non palm rejection and the fact that when you zoom out with your fingers sometimes the app doesn't pick it up and leaves marks on the art I'm doing and if I hadn't remembered to do another layer I have to go back and go over all the marks that I didn't spot earlier.
1.5 still hasn't got palm rejection btw and doubt it will for a while
I also like using photoshop touch more than the others because I'm colour blind and can only pick up a few colours without getting confused with other colours and they just have a small few colours and I can add my own pallette of colours by mixing...oh you know what I meant if you had trouble with colours.
I'd buy this app if I didn't already have it and my work that is in psd format can not be imported only saved on cloud plus why should I pay for something I got for free, I don't like this cloud saving it's just another way of getting money from people to sell them a little....empty space that's what is there but you can't see it only if you find it on a computer or whatever you have, next someone will come up with an idea for selling air and probably gravity one day.

I did not get an update notice from Samsung but was able to force the update manually.

Are there any grocery list/notes app available on the Gear S2 Classic?

I'm thinking similar to how Keep works on Android Wear where you can write a grocery list on your phone and then see and use it on your watch.

Actually there's an app very similar to Keep called My Notes. Think it 2 bucks, but i think that's fine. It's convenient having a few notes on the device.

You wouldn't happen to have the chance to show me the app store for it, or maybe a couple of screenshots? I already pre-ordered the classic (it won't be out until November 6 in Norway), but if I can't find any app for my groceries and such, I'm afraid I'll have to cancel the order.

I found only Shopping Lists. Installed when was free. Now must pay.
I found some applications fitting Your needs:
Shopping Lists (paid ~$1) - standalone app for making grocery list with possibility to later select and crossout each item;
Notespad+ (paid ~2$) - standalone app for only making notes on the watch;
My Notes in Gear (paid ~1,5$) - You can make notes on the GearS2 but on the phone as well with instant sync.
I use one note enter data on your desktop sync out to watch

There was an app called wristlists for the gear s that was great. You could make a grocery list on the phone app or watch, and then delete the items using the watch while you shopped. It also organized the groceries by produce, dairy, etc. We need that developer to port it to the s2.

Yes, that would be it. For now, as far as I know, You need to have a Samsung phone in order to see paid apps in the store... So basically You can use Gear S2 with other manufacturers, but it's not 100% functionality.

How do you make the store show all items?

I apologize if it has been asked, but I couldn't find anything on it. I have an LG V10 and I know Samsung users get the "full" store. For example, my friend has the same watch but has a Note 4 and he can download the Pip Boy watch. Is there any way to install the Samsung version of the store, or an I just out of luck?

I and a lot of others have the same issue. I thought it was because I have a non Samsung phone, but I tried through my wifes Note 4 and no luck.. Can't find/see and search everything. SUCKS!!

I use Surfeasy VPN.
This way I can select different region/country. then open the samsung Gear apps and see if there are any 'extra apps'
my problem was solved after upgrading samsung store to galaxy apps

Tips and Tricks found *UPDATED 11/28*

Hey all, Just got my LTE variant and have been fiddling around with it and have discovered some things. Wanted to post here and let people know what I've come across.
So far I have discovered:
-Gear works with Rooted Devices (at least with my Note 4)
-Samsung Pay from Gear works with Rooted Devices (Can't add my Discover Card yet, planned support for hopefully end of year)
-You DON'T have to use the default texting app in order to send/receive/reply to messages from the S3. So far, the apps I've found that support this are Google Hangouts, ChompSMS, Textra, and Google Messenger. It does have a few hangups though. This thread states the methods I used to achieve this and the hangups observed by doing this.
-You can control phone music from the s3, but cannot stream to it...yet.
-Gear seems to auto lock when removed from wrist. Unable to tell if it's based on the lack of heart beat or sense of movement. Not an issue, just making aware.
-Gear supports AOD (Always On Display). The type of display given is based on the watch face currently in use, so it would appear your watch face must have support for it otherwise it will default to a stock face (needs testing). Using AOD will shift pixels around to prevent burn in every time you go to wake the watch. Have lightly tested and can verify it shifts. Will be testing on my next charge cycle to test battery life and burn in potential (trying to test as much as I can within my 14 day period of which to exchange for another device (lemon law)
So far that's all I've come across and will update this page accordingly with more information. Please feel free to add yourself anything you have discovered so we can let the rest of our Gear toting brothers and sisters know these tips and tricks.

The Samsung Pay you use is a baked in app that is part of the Samsung Gear app. I have in installed on my rooted Nougat port on my HTC 10 and it works perfect. You don't need the official Samsung Pay app installed on the device at all. It seems as of now, that Samsung thinks the security on the watch is enough to allow you to use it side by side with a rooted phone. I hope it stays that way, because I have never been able to use Android pay because of the Root issue.

Samsung pay not support discover card you can check at this link http://www.samsung.com/us/samsung-pay/compatible-cards/

I have bought the Gear s3 and would like to connect with my Samsung A9 Pro (sm-A9100), however, when I checked the passkey for both sides, the s3 and a9 pro keep connecting but no further....
Does anyone has such situation? and what can I do....
ps. My A9 pro was rooted and some defaulted samsung app were forzened before.

Yes I did. However have been very busy since getting it and have not had time to update the thread. I've tested a few additional features and even a skin from Skinomi to protect the watch. When I have time tonight I will try to update what I can.
What I can say now, the watch feels a little lackluster, but since it's my first wearable, and it works for what I bought it for (messaging/calling, Samsung pay) it works great. But there are time I worry I'm not using it to its potential or it's just in its baby phases and doesn't have many apps yet.

What I can say now, the watch feels a little lackluster, but since it's my first wearable, and it works for what I bought it for (messaging/calling, Samsung pay) it works great. But there are time I worry I'm not using it to its potential or it's just in its baby phases and doesn't have many apps yet.

I just picked mine up a few days ago a and that sums up my feelings also. It's my first smartwatch and I've been wondering if I'm using it's full potential. I haven't been thrilled with the battery life but I have been playing around with it a lot and have only charged it a couple of times. Hopefully that will improve when I finally decide on a watch face that I can live with, I think I've changed the face a couple of hundred times.
Samsung Pay is available on S3, the only difference is that if you bought the BT version, it'll requires that you have the phone nearby for the 4GLTE to make the payment or such. If you have the LTE model and uses that, then you should be fine.

Correction, BT version can do 10 transactions without the phone nearby for Samsung Pay. After that, you need to sync with the phone to get another 10.

Gear app store not working on Nexus 6p

Hey guys,
i have no idea what to do to make Galaxy store working again.
I have Gear S3 Frontier connected on my non-Samsung phone (Nexus 6p). Till yesterday evrthing working fine. From yesterday i can not enter Samsung store.
From Gear app I choose VIEW MORE WATCH FACES and then i get this error: "retunCode":"0","errorCode":"0001","errorMsg":"System Error!-(0001)"
I allready reinstal all samsung apps, reset my Gear S3 I also try to pair my watch to another phone and also get this error?!?!
Just for info, Gear app works. On phone I can see battery status, RAM and Storage status. Also can communicate with watch (Find my gear)...problem is present only when try to go to Galaxy store.
Has anyone idea what is that error for and how to solve this problem?

I just checked and I'm not having any issues getting into the store on my 6p. Sorry bud

Can you give more details?
Maybe you received any kind of update... maybe Firmware update for "Gear"...
Btw... which Gear S3?
SM-R760 or SM-R770 or ...
And your Firmware Version is now?
Sometimes damn auto updates creates "funny" sideeffects...
Samsung is also known as "Master of Changes"...
They easy disable something... in "new" Software...

I'm try with phones OnePlus 2 and iPhone 7+ and I have the same issue
I have exactly same problems as Vladimir... error code 0001 in Samsung gear app when trying to install new watch face or any new program. The only difference is that I'm using Gear fit 2 and have LG G4 phone.
I tried to connect my Gear fit 2 with old Samsung Galaxy S3 phone and Samsumg Gear app worked perfect... so I guess is an Samsung gear app issue on non Samsung phones.
I contacted Samsung customer support and this was their answer:
Thank you for contacting us. We appreciate the opportunity to assist you.
From what you wrote, we understand that you are unable to install applications and watchfaces on your Gear Fit 2 while using your LG phone, and factory resetting your phone and gear and Samsung Gear application did not solve the issue.
We kindly inform you that we sent your case to the department in charge with Samsung Gear for investigation and we are expecting an answer from them.
We thank you for your patience in this matter. We will contact you as soon as we receive a reply from them.
In the meantime, if you encounter any other unexpected situation and have more questions, please do not hesitate to contact us and our support team will assist you with all the necessary information.

Anyone figure this out yet? Everything was working fine before the last update.

Hey I know this is from 2 months ago but I thought I'd let you all know (and anybody who might find this page via Google) that I figured it out!
OK so you know how when you are first attempting to setup the watch it asks you to visit a website? You HAVE to visit that website if you want it to work on a non-Samsung phone! You cannot go to the Play Store and search for the Samsung Gear App. Why Samsung did this I have no idea. Basically what they have are TWO DIFFERENT Samsung Gear apps that appear to be identical; except one is for Samsung phones and one is for all others. WHY THEY DECIDED NOT TO STATE THIS ON THE APP PAGE IS BEYOND ME.
Anyway if you are having this problem, uninstall your Samsung Gear app. Then go to your watch, go to settings and choose the option to connect it to a new phone. On your cell phone, go to the website it tells you to. The website will ask you if you are using a Samsung phone or another phone, so obviously don't click the Samsung option. This will give you a direct link to the Samsung Gear app that is meant for all other phones.
Again it's a really bizarre thing on Samsung's part but I am so glad to have figure it out and I hope my post helps you guys or anyone else Googling this issue in the future.
