Undervolting - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Right now I have my XT1039 on Lost101's Stock Optimized Lollipop collection rom ( Spain 1.1V one) together with latest Kaminari Kernel.
The thing is that in previous builds of this kernel, I think i was able to undervolt this setup with Kernel Adiutor. As Im no longer able to do that, though I have some tweaks applied in Kernel Adiutor, how can I undervolt the MotoG?
Should I stick with SetCPU? Will I have compatibility problems along SetCPU and Kernel Adiutor?
Thanks by advance.

Just for clarification: if hardware acceleration isn't yet included, what advantages are there to install this kernel over, say, faux's? Thanks.

Actually this is completely different kernel than faux kernel.
This kernel is not based on CM sources, it is based on kernel version 3.0.26, one of the latest in linux-3.0.y. If you guys know, Samsung Galaxy Nexus uses, kernel 3.0.8 in stock, this is kernel 3.0.26.
Faux kernel is based on CM sources linux-2.6.xx.x .
And there are no advantages as such, but deep sleep is finally working perfectly in kernel 3.0.y versions. So maybe better battery.
Working great on AOKP..... Battery seems a little bit better.

the stock CM9 kernel has no HW accel, right? if so, i need this kernel for the voodoo, as stock CM9 doesn't have it.

True, stock CM9 do not have HW, neither do this kernel. And tegra2 devices will not have HW accel until Nvidia releases sources, or LG/T-Mobile release office ICS Rom.
Yes this kernel do have voodoo sound.
Appreciate your work. Thank you.
If you could please, in a timely fashion, provide the source to your changes and place it in the OP before the GPL police find out.
Thanks again!
Will there be a CM7 version of this kernel at all?

Been following this project for awhile on other threads. I've been very impressed with this work. I've been curious about something, though, and didn't want to post this question in one of the main development threads.
What is the feasibility of upgrading the kernel to 3.1,3.2, or 3.3 series? For all I know it's completely impossible as I'm sure they had a reason to use 3.0 as the base for the project. I do find it interesting, though, that 3.3 comes with "android support" (not that I really know what that means either ).

yeah they have stated that next version will come with android support, it would not be 3.3, but would be 3.4. With more android related patches.
Guys even 3.0.y was a difficult task to port to tegra2, as no source, all thanks to wkpark and his awesome talents. I think your question can be better answered by him.
But code in 3.0.y to 3.1/3.2 has changed a lot, so would be very difficult to port, specially without any other android manufacturers not having 3.1/3.2 as base make it near impossible.

Thanks for the quick response. Ya, I was just curious more about if it was a possibility. If it takes a year or more, then that's what it takes. I have complete respect for the difficulties in porting something that's never been ported before.
so far so good...tks dev
Well...I can say this gets about 500 points higher on Quadrant 2.0 than Faux SV kernel. I didn't think it was fair to compare it to the OC version.

[Q] no-frills CPU recommended for stock JB?

I'm curious of whether it's okay to run no-frills CPU with stock JB, as it doesn't seem to have a CPU governor.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=911917
Is it recommended or needed?
Thanks!
On the stock kernel, it won't do you a ton of good... And you will have to be rooted to use it.
thanks, I'm rooted.
The reason it won't do me a good must have been that the stock already has a governor or something ???

Stock kernel doesn't allow for under/overclocking... I guess there are a couple of governors on the stock kernel, so you could change those around?
Custom kernels give you options like under/overclocking, different governors, different schedulers... etc.
So there's no reason you can't put NoFrills or any other CPU control app on a stock kernel, you just won't get a whole lot of choices with the stock kernel

[Q] Can't see desired governors with Franco Kernel

Hello!
I just flashed Franco Kernel on my Nexus 5 with stock ROM, but I can only see Interactive and Performance governor when using SetCPU. Does anyone know why? Does this kernel even have support for this governors? If that is the case, please recommend another (stable) kernel. Thanks!
Hi,
Yes, Franco kernel uses only Interactive and Performance governors. It's "hardcoded" in the kernel so you can't add other governors unless you recompile it with your own stuff (in short). It's a choice made by Franciscofranco, that's all. So it's normal that some apps didn't show another governor.
I won't recommend you another kernel, check the two dev forums for another kernels, read the OP's of each kernel thread and try by yourself to find another kernel that suits your needs in term of governors (in short all the other kernels -no CAF or CM kernels-, not the ones based on Franko kernel obviously).
Since you used Franco kernel you are using an AOSP/stock rom so check from AOSP kernels.
Franco kernel only includes the Interactive and Performance governors. There is nothing wrong.
If you are not happy, try another one. Theres no point of someone recommending you a kernel since all phones are different and will thus react differently to kernels. In addition, while one kernel may be good for someone else, it may not serve your needs. This is why asking for the best rom/kernel is against the rules.
I'm running Franco Kernel on the interactive governor and have no issue
Okay, I understand. Thanks anyways!

[Kernel] Mutiny Kernel AOSP D850

I was asked to bring an AOSP kernel to you guys for the D850.
I do not have this phone, so I may not be able to answer all your question. It'll be up to you and the Team.
This is for AOSP
So for your flashing pleasure, may I present to you...

Sorry guys. Had an update ready to go, and life kicked in.
I'll hopefully get this updated in the next few days.
V1.1 in the OP
A little more to play with now.
Edit: I'm trying a different updater-script I found. If it works, it should make it compatible with more ROMs.
Big thanks to whoever came up with it!
I can confirm that it's running beautifully on Cyanide L - no issues at all so far.
Being an amateur, I'm not entirely sure what all the different governors and schedulers can offer. I've played around a but, but if anyone has a description of them that would be great.
Is the DT2W feature a function of the kernel or ROM? I ask, in part, because I see it discussed often in ROM threads, but rarely in kernel threads. And the few times I've seen the issue raised in kernel forums, it's never addressed. I assume that's because it's a dumb question in the context of replacing the kernel. However, I seem to lose the DT2W feature with every kernel I've been able to successfully install, which leads me to suspect it is a function of the kernel.
To be clear, this is not a complaint. I'm just trying to determine if I'm doing something wrong or if this is an inevitable consequence of replacing the stock kernel.
I just installed Mutiny-Kernel-AOSP-850-V1.1 on CM12.1 and it looks like I have oversharpening

I think, is built into a kernel. But not this one.
The other kernels that do say they have it, I think you need to activate it in terminal. They have it posted in their threads.

It's using the ramdisk from the rom you are coming from. That should hopefully solve the ramdisk issues.
@engine95:
Hello, I am interested in doing some kernel programming for the LG D850. I just got the phone recently and want to add a few things I'd like to use this kernel and install script/ramdisk as a base. Kindly requesting your permission. Also, what version of the kernel source was this based on? I requested release of 21q or newer from LG today, hopefully they post it soon. Thanks for your consideration.

[Request] kernel custom

hellos I come to you for a custom kernel request G920f.
I would have the value of a kernel with the latest sources COI9 closest to the stock one can like Adam kernel but with a few more options like :
I/O Scheduler using SIOPLUS ( From @thehacker911 's kernel source, Thank you ).
CPU Governors using INTERACTIVE.
TCP Algorithms using westwood.
Autoroot
Led fading
Patched to latest Linux 3.10.93
SELinux set to permissive
thank you all for your support all the existing kernel does not match these criteria .
and also for the 920k if possible
up please
