Xperia Z5 won't stay in Fastboot - Xperia Z5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I've been trying to root my phone recently (I thought I knew what I was doing but clearly not ) but I seem to have stupidly flashed TWRP over the boot partition so now I can only ever get into recovery.
I've found you can flash the entire phone using this guide.
My problem now is when I connect my phone to the computer in fastboot it won't stay in that mode. The blue LED comes on as it should but after 30 seconds or so the phone decides to go to recovery instead so I can't get flashtool to proceed with the entire system flash.
Does anyone have any ideas why my phone would be doing this and how to fix the issue?
Thanks
Tim

You only plug the phone on when flashtool tells you to. If you plug it in before it prepares for flashing it'll drop out and reboot after a while

Nexus S hard bricked

I think i just achieved the impossible, hard bricking the nexus S.
I was having the google logo stuck problem after i tried to root it in CWR... so I used odin to reflash rom, and apparently flashed with the wrong rom (i have i9020 but flashed a 9023 rom)
Now my phone doesn't even turn on, i can't get it to download mode no matter what, can't get into CWR anymore.. fastboot doesnt work because usb doesnt even get recognized.
the only "life" i have from my phone is that the battery gets warmed when i plug the usb in.
I am not aware that there is a USB JIG for nexus s...
does anyone have any insight?
All I gotta say is you shouldn't of used odin. Are you able to get into recovery? Fastboot not recognizing your usb can be due to drivers.
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
can't get into recovery (if you mean volume up + power), i used to be able to, but after the flash I can't anymore.
Fastboot is via cmd? Can't do because USB is not being tiggered.
It's totally unresponsive.

Volume up + power doesn't go into recovery. It goes into fastboot. When you go there, you can press volume down until you reach recovery.

The reason I used odin was because I came from Vibrant and odin worked great. I shouldve done more research I know..

I came from vibrant too. Before that I used the g1. Non samsung phones primarily use fastboot.
What happens when your phone is completely off. Then hold volume up and power at the same time?

remove your battery and then press power and volume up u will go into bootloader mode then flash cwr

It doesn't, not even a "?" or "!" in device manager, it used to recognize properly thats why I was able to install CWR. after the "hard brick" my computer doesnt even make the sound when plug in the phone.

He already said that it doesn't even recognize.
Are you all guys really sure that you read the first post first? Or just read the title and replying?
I just notice even when USB is not plugged in the phone is still warm (with black screen and everything)... so I am not sure anymore.. the mystery continues.
I am pretty sure I flashed this

then it bricked, how stupid

And yeah. That was a 9023 rom. Go back and see if you can get it exchanged. Just say it randomly shut off and wouldn't turn back on.
But this is totally on you because the op in that thread said not to flash it on 9020

[q] [help!] xperia e (soft) brick!! Help needed

Hey xda!
As you probably guessed by the title, my Xperia E (c1504) has been soft bricked. :crying::crying:
Here is what happened:I installed Pimp My ROM(beta) from Google Play, and became pretty curious about the 'pimp my beats' app mod.
I downloaded the assets, and pressed install.
nothing happened(even after reebot) .
So, (thanks to my daredevil nature) i went to the folder where pump my ROM had downloaded the assets fourth mod. I found a .zip file in it, which I extracted right there. It had a folder called 'system' in which there were 3-4 folders named apk, framework, lib (i dont remember any more)
On realizing that these folders existed in /system of my device, I copied everything, and pasted it into /system , overwriting everything.
Unsuspectingly, I rebooted, and was horrified to see a box which said "Android is upgrading..." and started optimizing 44 applications one by one. After that , it said"Starting applications" and a progress wheel startled rotating. But it stuck like that for hours - until i pulled out the battery, and put it back in again. this time, the boot animation (the waves with the xperia colors) keep on going forever - till the end of time.
its been like that ever since.
but there's a catch. i don't have CWM recovery , nor did i make ANY backups.(yeah, u can call me the dumbest person on earth right now)
So, thats it.
Any ideas, people???

I already tried that too, but still not working.
Not sure, but try this. Take out the battery, and hold the power button for ~5 seconds. Connect the phone to a PC. Flash the stock FTF. When it asks to press the back button, insert the battery (without removing the microUSB). The flash will begin. After the flash is complete, let the phone be for about half an hour, then remove the cable and turn it on.

Hi
I had this same problem a while ago, I am sorry to say your phone is bricked BUT FIXABLE
1. Take battery out of the phone.
2. Install all drivers needed.
3. Download Sony Update Service (Google it).
4.Open SUS and click Agree and next, select the Xperia E and hit next.
5. Put the battery in.
6. Now as instructed by SUS plug in the USB cable to the PC while holding the volume down key.
7. If you have done everything correctly, update service should detect your phone.
8. Click Install and follow instructions on screen.

If this is the case then it is bricked. Take it to the store and if your under warranty get it fixed for free. If not your only choice is to pay to get if fixed.

First of all !
I think you might have a battery issue too !
First charge your battery fully !
Incase it isn't charging follow these steps :
- Pull out battery
- Plug in the charger and start charging
- After the charging LED turns on, insert the battery while pressing the back button and during this don't stop charging.
- Congo, now you have your phone charging.
Now, make sure you have an unlocked bootloader of your Phone to try the flashing things and if you already have it unlocked then try relocking it with Flashtool and apply for warranty ! or you can still flash your original stock firmware with locked bootloader too or use Sony Update Service.
You can check out this thread for the Sony Xperia E Single stock firmware and guide to get back into stock :
Link : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2568176
Or if you want your bootloader unlocked and want to fix the phone then try flashing the stock firmware of your device.
As mentioned by other members in the earlier posts.

i managed to get it into recovery as well as fastboot. but now when i try to do my recovery backup it causes the same error i was having i.e it would be detected by my laptop but i cant see anything. i may have to do a complete factory restore and see what happenes. Its kinda sad my GF with really NO android experience helped me get it into bootloader WHICH for anyone that has an issue similar to mine where your PC detects your device but you cant see anything on the screen hold down both up and down + power to get into bootloader. if it doesnt work at first hold down down + power (while its still connected to your pc so you can hear it feject) as soon as you hear the eject noise press and up down+up+power and you will be in bootloader
This guy had the same problem

He dd'd his messed up partition back. I guess it's the bootloader that was overwritten but you can dd the secondary bootloader to the primary bootloader partition and it'd fix it hopefully.
