If we compare both Style and Pure (US) release notes we can see that the Pure has no mention to Expandable Storage.
Why is that?

Motorola could have forgot
They wouldn't remove a feature that could hurt them so harshly
Litteraly it's the only marshmallow feature I care for

It's in the style version of MM. I doubt they removed just for the pure.
Sent from my XT1575 using Tapatalk
It is part of framework, so not sure they could remove it if they wanted to. I am indifferent though, since will keep the SD for media and the storage of the 59GB model for apps. I call it 59GBsince since it has five GB missing compared to the Note 5 and Nexus 64GB models.
Moto never explained the bizarre allocation of the 64GB model.

unfortunately it's not just the 64 gb model. A little infuriating I paid for extra storage and have that little left
Sent from my XT1575 using Tapatalk
This is OT, but just an FYI on the Note 5 storage...The 64GB had about 52GB under "total space" (the System took up approximately 10.97GB ) and the 32GB had about 24GB understand "total space". I can't speak for the 64GB MXPE but on the 32GB, its spot on with the Note 5 at 24GB. That "missing" storage is reserved for the OS.
It's too bad, since the surveys mentioned 'November' software update that the pure is lagging this far behind. When did the test drive start, October 8? That's a long test imo

I've got the 64gb MXPE and mine says that it has 53.18gb usable space. Which for formating and OS reservation, I can understand why it is the way it is.

The primary account can upgrade a year to six months early. When you upgrade early they sometimes make you pay a little more but most of the time I get the fees waived.

Man, that phone sounds like it is going to be awesome! But why is everyone going to this internal memory thing only, rather than having an SD slot for extra external memory?!
I'm gonna go crazy!
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda premium
If they make it internal its one less thing they have to worry about breaking. Plus they don't have to provide a memory card which is probably a lot cheaper making it internally. Lastly I think it may be a measure to prevent or slow down rooting.

You're a bit off. Why allow for removable storage? If you have a set amount and cannot change your SD card, you now have a hard space limit you never had before. When you can't store anymore on any device people look to cloud technology. We all have data plans so we can all use it. Now tell me, who provides cloud technology? Google has drive and Play Music, and they now offer movie rentals through the play store. If I can't store a movie file on my phone I'd be more inclined to rent and purchase my video files from them.
That is the reason why SD cards are being phased out. It allows for the advancement of cloud services which would hopefully lead to greater profits for companies such as google(and some manufacturers have their own cloud storage services or a partnership with a storage provider).
Yea that makes sense. Never looked at it that way.
Sent from my Thunderbolt using Tapatalk 2
It also gives them the ability to release new versions with larger internal memories every few months. Because they know there are a lot of suckers out there who will pay to trade up. A trick learned from Apple no doubt.
Look at what Moto is doing with the Razor. Same concept.
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda app-developers app
A major flaw with that idea is that if internal memory fails you're screwed. If an SD card fails it can just be replaced. It would suck hard to have to send a phone in because the internal memory failed.
Sent from my Thunderbolt using Tapatalk 2
Crackable bootloader, 4G, removable battery and SD card storage, and unlimited data.
The T-bolt, despite its many flaws, has it all. I'm looking to stay here for as long as I can, because I like doing things on my terms.
In early January I get the privilege of lining Verizon's pockets for a newer, but ultimately more limited, device. No thanks. Contract ends in May, and I'll take a hard look at service providers then.
Until then let's keep on Verizon and HTC to honor their end of the thunderbolt bargain.
PS- The thread title almost made me think the OTA dropped. Almost.
Duely blundered from my thunderdolt.

I think its highly unlikely for an internal memory to fail. Phones and tablets are being designed more and more with just internal memory. Even if something goes wrong your still likely to just enter bootloader and then recovery and restore to a previous build. For example: The N7 is built w/ internal only and no one seems to have problems with it so far.( Knocking on wood) as I speak lol

Agreed, with no mechanical parts it's very unlikely to fail.
went to verizon today and bought the 64 gb note 5. would have liked it today but they didnt have any, so i ended up paying $15 to have it by 10:30am next day. special thanks to my note 2 for 2.5 great years.(it will still be a back up for me)
I'm getting mine tomorrow at best buy on Verizon around 1pm.
white or black 64 gb???
I became an owner of the 64GB black sapphire version this morning at 8:53am. Retired my Note 3 after 2 years. Very happy so far.
Praying that someone will be able to root it. Would love to remain stock, but have the ability to debloat properly, run my root file explorers, as well as Xposed framework/modules (primarily RootCloak).

I'm still using my Note 2. How are you adjusting to the menu button now being recent apps and no multi window bar?
Would you be willing to spend $2.40 on an app to test adding apps to multi window? If so, the app is MW-PEN app enabler.

Take this with a grain of salt but the Software Updates page at T-Mobile has been updated and the Note 5 is on there. Now we all knew that it would be updated to Marshmallow but maybe this is a sign that we will see it sooner than later.

When this is released by T-Mobile will i need to un-root to get the OTA update? If so, will there be a root in the works for Android M? I am rooted on 5.1.1 BOH6 with Arter97 Kernel, Xposed and the latest TWRP. Just curious thanks for all the hard work devs.
My reason for asking is probably the same as anyone else. I want the newest OS but I want to keep the tweaks made possible through root such as, modifying the build.prop file to fix the RAM leak, better battery life through titanium back up by freezing apps and adding some features by editing the /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db in SQLite Editor
Great, get ready for all the complaining about the update not being fast enough to arrive. Only to be followed up with complaints about how the update made the phone slow and the battery drain.

Good luck,
Have a great evening!
You won't have to unroot to update. Not with smart switch on your computer, however it will unroot your phone, and generally when android updates a whole system, root is lost till someone figures it out, when kit Kat first came out root took forever

International versions updated by Samsung haven't even gotten it, and historically they get it a month or more before the carriers in the US release theirs.

Looks like Sprint will be releasing the Nougat update first of all in US. In fact, they have released the Marshmallow before everybody else too (maybe before global variant too, not sure).
Here's why this looks genuine:
- No CM14/AOSP 7.0 ROM availabel for G930P, so it must be official firmware in use here.
- RAM is down, and so are the benchmark scores, so this is a test build, not a fake 6.0 one.
What do you guys think?

Waiting for Moto X style ?
I knew it would come ?
Ehh unfortunately I'm on Moto X Style...so it may be still month or two or whatever. Thinking about Moto Z or something else Xperia XZ maybe
I'll believe it when I see it. There is no version number in the release notes so I'm skeptical until I hear of someone actually getting the ota or pics of the about screen with build number its hearsay.
I'm not really allowed what I'm doing right now, but I want to clear up this confusion.
The soak test just started (yesterday), there is NO official 7.0 as of now, only the soak test.
Official 7.0 rollout usually start 7 days after the soak test started, unless there are serious issues.

No update, checked manually and turned off my phone as well as pulled my SIM. Again it's true or else you'd have tons of people posting screenshots of the update.

I'm as pessimistic and disgusted with Lenovorola as anyone here, but it's fairly likely we'll see it next week.
If you go back to the threads leading up to Marshmallow, there were initial rumblings about a small soak test about 6 weeks before the OTA, which we heard in March for this update. Then, once the big soak test started in early December 2015, it was only a week or less before everyone had it.

It's not the official. Just a soak test. It will probably take some time for the official to come out. I'm guessing late next month or June like Motorola stated.

Since it's a soak test they legally can't post screenshots as it would violate their NDA. Not saying that it won't "leak out" but don't expect that anytime soon.

Look at the OPs original link I can't see anywhere where it states it's a soak test or maybe I'm blind.

Agreed. This is my last Motorola phone unless something amazing happens "Lenovo sells Motorola" personally I'm going with a OP5 or the axon 8 when it's released. I don't want to give up my front facing speakers.
