Hi everyone! I have a Sprint HTC One A9. The quick settings (swiping down on the screen with two fingers or swiping down twice from the status bar) all of a sudden disappeared. I can still see the notifications panel when I swipe down, but just can't see or edit the quick settings. The button in the top right (which I believe originally let you edit the quick settings) does not do anything when I press it. I have no idea how/why this happened, and there does not seem to be another way to get to a quick settings editing option/menu. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
We have never been able to edit the quick settings on our A9. That top right button simply just toggles the quick setting on and off (does the same thing as swiping up and down).

Newcron, thanks for your response! Here's the thing: the top right button, when I press it, it does nothing -- there's no reaction or toggling of the quick settings. It doesn't look like some of the pictures I've seen (it looks like a gear over the three lines, whereas I think others just see three lines?). When I press it, and try to swipe down to see the quick settings, it doesn't work. I've tried everything -- my quick settings just up and disappeared! It's been driving me crazy because I have to go into the settings to turn wifi, bluetooth, location, etc. on/off each time. If anyone has any ideas what I might have done or what to do, please do let me know. Thanks very much!

And I just realized that I have lost all notifications too -- no notifications show up in the notifications panel/drawer (even when I'm receiving notifications). It just says "no notifications." Ack, I have no idea what I did. Should I just reset the phone?

Well that is a little weird. The icon is correct, though. If I swipe once, it shows all my notifications, with the icon picture is a gear over the three lines. If I tap on that icon, it's the exact same thing as if I swipe down, the quick setting now shows up, and the icon changed to just three lines. If I tap on the three lines icon, then quick setting goes back up (and out of view), showing me my notifications again.
I'm not sure what happened to your phone, but that's pretty strange!

My A9 is now doing the same thing. Did you ever find a fix?

When I get a gmail notification, I pull down the bar and click it. After I read the email I press 'home'. The problem is that the notification is still there. If I click on it again it'll take me to the email again and when i press home it will disappear that time. Or when originally pressing the notification I can read the email and press 'back' to get back to my inbox and then the notification will disappear. Or I can just drag the bar and press clear.
Is this how of works for everybody? I'm almost positive that with my g1 and mytouch i would drag the notification and press on it and it'd disappear. The notification would appear, i would press it, and it would politely disappear The current way is kind of a hassle since i'm so used to it being simpler and smoother on my 2 other android phones.
Maybe there is a setting that i missed?
Thanks for any information
Must be a glitch, it happens to me too. It also happens in Google Voice. After you read the message you can press back then home to clear the notification for now.
Same here (Ten Char)
same here. I got used to always hitting the back button to erase the notification before i hit the home button.
It's a bug in 2.1. The notification goes away after about a minute. I submitted an issue in the bug tracker earlier today about this.
Cool thanks for the update

Maybe is the way you do it. After reading the mail if you press Home, the program doesn't realize you've read it. But if you press Back, instead, the notification goes out immediately. This behaviour is the same for the G1 and the MyTouch as well.
Hi,
it's pretty annoying that you have to tap twice to open the quick settings... first tapping the clock and then the settings symbol.
Is there any way to always open the quick settings?
may only if there are no notifications?
Thanks!
I just put the settings app which you can find in the "other" section when you long press on your home screen, onto my home screen. Just one tap needed now to get to them.
yes, but that opens just the normal settings menu...
i like the settings-popup, it would be cool if this could be modified and always opens for quick access
Adding apps to the home screen should be simple:
"To add app shortcuts to the Gear's home screen, go to Apps on the Gear, tap and hold an app icon, then drag and drop it on the home icon at the top of the screen."
This doesn't work for me. I tap and hold and nothing happens. I've had no problem removing apps from the home screen through settings > edit home screen. But I cannot add.
Any suggestions?
Anyone else have this issue?

When you do a long press, nothing happens? The app should "pop up" and move with your finger just like when you drag and drop on your phone. Then drop it onto the home button at the top that appears, and you can then rearrange all the apps on the home screens.

If its the same for home pages where you can't rearrange stuff, try wiping the device? If that doesn't work, you might have a defective digitizer touchscreen.

Yes its the same. I can go into settings > display > edit home page and I can long press to move and remove icons there. So I would assume that means the touchscreen itself is fine. But I cannot add through those settings.
Wiping the device is my next move after asking on here (but I'm holding off on that for now). And after that I'll be calling the Samsung shop where I bought it.

OK so I wiped it, without restoring. Noticed straight away that below the "edit home page" option in settings, I now have a "manage apps" option which lets me do what I need. Where was it before? Who knows!
According to the help FAQs I should still be able to move icons/apps without going into settings. I still can't do that. Is it correct that I should be able to?

I don't have the same issue you do. But I also don't have "manage apps" under the "edit home page". Are you seeing this under "display" in your settings on the watch itself? Someone else has the option in GM to send an emergency message like the pebble. They are running the same sowtware number of GM that I am yet that option is not on mine. I don't understand how so many of the same watches with the same software can be so different.

It seems the emergency assistance option has to do with what phone/rom you are running. The option is not there on stock T-mobile Note 3, but if you put the international rom on it, it does.
In the button options, you can select what each hardware button actually does. I'd like to set google now (the thing where cards appear with info on things that might interest you, not the launcher) to start when I double tap the home button, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Does anyone know how I could achieve this?
Hopefully I missed a setting somewhere and will feel really silly a few posts in, but thanks in advance!
Go to Settings -> Buttons -> Hardware button
Check Enable custom actions and then set double tap for menu as the Google app
Ah, there we go, thank you! I don't understand why they didn't call it google now or something though.
Ps. I was right and feel totally silly now.
Looking for HELP with a feature. Im comming from the s10 plus. I always used the function TAP to Swipe feature which is used for tapping to answer phone calls instead of sliding to answer. Its an option in the assistant menu. If you go to settings> accessibility> interaction and dexterity> assistant menu on> single tap to swipe… it can be turned on. But the problem is you cant get rid of the menu completly. On the s10 plus we was able to do this and hide it. Only option to hide it is slightly as an edge option.
Anyone know how to get rid of it completly while still allowing tap to swipe for answering phone calls?
I read your question over and over and looked at your screenshots and I really cannot work out what you mean.

Instead of swiping to answer phone calls you can just tap the answer button. Its activated thru the assisted menu. But when you activate it… it leaves a circle menu on the screen that you can put anywhere on the screen. There is an option to move it to the edge panel. You can see it on the picturr here i have it in the top right corner. On my s10 plus you can completly hide it while still being able to tap amd answer phone calls instead of sliding it to answer. Its called SINGLE TAP TO SWIPE.
OK, I am with you now.
I just checked on my Note 10+ and it's the same.
You can however hide the panel by dragging it to the top of the screen to the X that appears, this places the menu in the notification area, so although it cannot be hidden completely at least it no longer blocks your screen.
Once in the notification area, if you tap and hold the notification and then the gear icon, you can minimise it further there.
Hope this helps somewhat!

Its the same on the s10 plus which is what i am comming from. Youll get a accessability notification in the pull down bar but that can also be illiminated. On the note 20 ultra however when you hold down on the panel… there is no hide option. The only option im seeing is to put it on the edge panel… which is better but you can still see it.
I have the Note 10+ and use the Assistant Menu button to use single tap to answer calls. I could hide the button by holding and dragging it to the top of the home screen and releasing it when I see the X. Worked great. I recently updated my phone and it now has One UI 2.5. I cannot now hide the Assistant Menu button when I drag it to the top. Looks like the hide function has been removed. I don't like this at all. I don't like having to move the button around the screen to avoid interference with text, graphics, games, etc. Samsung needs to correct this ASAP!
You can either purchase "package disabler pro" and disable the accessibility app. Or you can go to settings>apps>all apps> scroll to accessibility then force stop the app and clear cache. It will stay hidden until you restart the phone. Make sure you have the single tap setting enabled first before you do this
