Sync phone media to PC? (Songs, pictures and video) - General Questions and Answers

So I had a bit of a scare the other day when my phone refused to read my SD card, all fixed now but it got me wondering what would have happened had my SD card actually died. So after a few days of searching the net for an app that would wirelessly or using the data cable sync my phones data to my PC, I couldn't find one that did what I wanted it to so here I am. The phone in question is the MOTO X STYLE on a stock ROM. Does said app or one like it exist?
I'd appreciate the help
EDIT - Just to clarify, I do have apps such as Mega backing up my device, the reason for this thread wasn't to find an alternative but to find one that'd backup/sync to my PC. I want to be able to watch the videos and view the pics located on my phone on my PC and I hardly ever download music to my PC (I download them via my phone, to my phone) so backing up my devices music to my PC would be nice.

sorry i havent seen an app that can do that, not to say there isnt one.
not what you wanted, but i can offer some better alternatives for auto app and pic/vid backup.
picasa from google will sync your vids and pics to the cloud and can be viewed on pc through a browser.
titanium will also sync to the cloud your app data. if your music is the data of some app, i would think it gets backed up, otherwise, no. although the backup could be viewed on a pc, its not in its original format.
any music that you obtained legally, probably has some protection on it to keep you from moving it anyways. at least it used to, but i haven't bought any music in some time, so maybe this changed.
sorry i couldnt be of more help

Hey, man, AirMore can surely help you! It is a completely free app based on web. You can use it to transfer phone or SD card data between Android and PC wirelessly. What's more, you can enjoy media files on web. For instance, you can watch videos of your phone directly on web rather than download them to PC in advance. Search it on Google Chrome, and you'll be satisfied with it. Please make sure you've set up your Android and PC in the same WIFI network before using it.

Thanks for the help, really do appreciate it but I found an application called MobileGo by Wondershare and it does everything I want it to. Syncing to my PC has to be done manually and using a USB connection but that's more than fine with me.
For those of you who might want to do what I did, which was to backup to a PC, I can't recommend MobileGo enough

[Q] Easy way to sync music

Does anyone know of an app or program to sync your itunes music to the droidx? I personally just like the way itunes works on my pc but having to pick individually each song i put on the pc and move it over to the x manually is a pain in the a$$... Any recommendations would be great. Thanks!
Check out DoubleTwist. That's like Android version of iTunes!
awesome. question answered. thanks a lot!
Tried doubletwist, didn't like it, and it required USB.
If you happen to already use iTunes to store your music, and you have a wifi network at home... then I highly recommend TuneSync: http://www.appbrain.com/app/tunesync-lite-(for-itunes)/com.highwindsoftware.tunesync.lite
I tried a couple others, but nothing as good (or easy) as this.
Easiest way. Take SD card out, place into computer, drag-place, re-insert sdcard. Enjoy!
thats what i was trying to avoid Casen. its a pain to have to do that every time i add music to my itunes files on my pc. i have to go into it, try to remember which files i added, then add them manually. doubletwist seemed to work but its not transferring every file so i guess i'll try the tunesync app now...
honestly i was the same way the first week i got my dx, coming from my iphone.
i used itunes for everything, podcasts, videos, music. now i dont miss it at all.
DT and TS were both okay to use, but in the end i now just use mass storage device and copy the files/folders over in a couple secs. for podcasts, doggcatcher or beyondpod on the phone will mean u never have to use the computer again.
yeah seems to me i'm just gonna keep doing it that way... thanks to everyone.

in case anyone is looking for this it's called isyncr, not isync. it works well, the wifi sync is a bit slow though so i don't really use it.

Looking for a sync program

Hey,
I need a program to sync my movies folder via usb. I tried microsoft sync toy but it doesnt work with the tablet. Dropbox is no option and I think the Asus sync program doesnt have the ability.
the best one for over the air (not usb) is foldersync...building your own dropbox
it´s on the market
regards
Mr.Lee
Have you tried Dirsync?
http://www.dirsyncpro.org/download.html
Since neither FolderSync (which is great over WiFi) nor DirSync support MTP as far as I can see, your options are down to... errrrr... none. I do heartily recommend WiFi-based syncs with FolderSync though, and Titanium Media Sync may do the job as well (although I cannot recall if that provides sync over MTP connections as well).
I will try that but I am not happy. I fly frequently so I often push 10Gb and more up. That takes ages via Wifi.
Is there a know program to wirelesly sync contacts and agenda?
I did a search and this is the best I came up with :s
Cause the asus sync kinda sucks imo. You need to klick it at the tablet then pick dates on the computer and then hit sync? There is no way to do it automatically? HTC and Samsung do a WAY better job, but don't have such tablets :s

Oh, yeah, with that kind of transfer volume you can at least shower, have dinner and have a nap in between (and after dinner as well, quite possibly). Isn't a card reader the best option then? (And maybe an extra card so you can transfer content to one card and have the next one pumped full in the meantime?). Do you have the dock as well? That would double your transfer rate, since you could use both cards to transfer at the same time in either a multiformat reader or several card readers used simultaneously.
I'm sorry if I am pursuing a lost cause, but I'm just trying to think with you here.
Netgear recently released a gigabit router so the speed to transfer over wifi will be a lot quicker.
Though yes, i do agree (or at least i can't find a solution myself), surely there must be an easier way to push large files from PC to the tablet.
I inserted the SD Card, however the copying function keeps on crashing for (for numerous small files in many folders)
There must be some software out there that supports MTP! Totally frustrating. I use goodsync to sync to my PC/ phone/ NAS but i can't sync anything to the tablet!

What is the recommended way to sync back to your computer if you are using FolderSync? ie. SMB/ FTP/ SFTP etc? I have Windows7.
I dont quite understand your comment re: sync over MTP. Is FolderSync not providing that intermediary between the tablet and the PC? (ie. essentially synching over Wifi to MTP?)
Just want to push this topic!
I couldnt get Folder Sync to work. There are so many options available and it seems you need additional software installed on the computer. There are no manuals available Sync over Dropbox etc. is no option because of their file size limitations. Im using Isyncr now for my music files. Works awesome.
I still have to do the movies, etc. by hand

Office Synching

Hey, long time XDA fan... short time account cred loser :crying:
Anyway just got the Note, and I'm liking it,but I got it for office use.
What is the best way/app to allow me to autosynch files when I export a note and connect my note via the cable?
The notes will contain highly sensitive data, so that removes the option for Cloud solutions unless you know that auto encrypts before synching.
Thanks, in advance!
Bumping for hope of an answer. This is becoming more important to my long term ownership as my workplace is looking to deploy new MDM and policy control around byod devices.

Why don't you try something like Microsoft onenote but im not sure you can sync that without the cloud. If you don't really want to edit the notes you sync u can always save them as pdf's and copy them by usb cable

The best way to sync your tablet with something like Dropbox is an app called DropSync. I recommend getting the paid version as it is far more powerful.
Unfortunately, Samsung chose a format for their Notes app that is unreadable by anything outside of another device running the same Notes app. Why they chose this obscure standard I don't know.

I'm also very satisfied with Dropsync, but also very happy with SugarSync witch has better Win app and better folder setting. You can use my referral to get 500MB more.

What about Kies? I haven't tried it yet, in fact I'm just now downloading it hoping to accomplish the same thing... even so, my use doesn't require such high standards for security. I'm hoping this can make a direct connection with my PC a lot more efficient in order to track order forms and job notifications without needing to print paper.
Hope this suggestion gives you something to work with.
:::Not sure, but thus far it seems like Kies just stores a back-up/recovery file to your computer. Not sure this is helpful but I'm still trying it out:::
Thanks for all the help. This will give me a few things to try.

The best way to sync in the office using the USB cable is with an app and computer software called "Local Sync". Sorry can't post links, but just search the goole play store.
It allows one to sync files from your Note 10.1 to your office computer w/o having to put files in the cloud. I have found it to be completely secure and reliable since its syncs over the USB cable not wireless.
You will need to also download and install the Windows program to run it. You will also need to intall the samsung drivers which means installing Samsung Kies onto your office computer.
With this app and computer software all my critical files between work and tablet are perfectly in sync.
Good luck

OTG sync or file transfers seems to be a hassel. Can't you just use a card reader(SD, micro SD, M2, etc) to connect to your pc and and transfer files via the microSD Card. . No cables needed. Installing Kies means installing versions of Net Framework if you don't have it already installed. Real PIA to install AND uninstall. Isn't it a good idea to use the card reader for large files (under 4 GB)makes sense to me. Plus, you can take the card reader with you on when your away to transfer photos/files from your camera, cellphone, etc to the Note 10.1. Takes less battery power than OTA, correct?

[Q] Cloud storage app that will actually fully sync music on android?

So a couple years ago I got my first android phone, and it included 25gb of dropbox free for 2 years. I didn't care much for cloud storage back then because it still didn't work that well. The dropbox app back then was pretty much garbage, all it did was give you a slightly cleaner interface for the website version (which also just is not very useful for my purposes).
All I want to do is sync/mirror my music library, so when I download a song on my pc, it eventually shows up on my phone to be played. Maybe that was harder to do a couple years ago, but today that seems like a pretty simple thing with how much free/cheap cloud storage there is and how fast our devices are.
Yet I just spent the last day messing with drop box (while my 2 free years ran out Galaxy S5 which luckily gave me another 2 years of dropbox, this time at 50gb), and also tried the other stuff my new phone came with, and seemingly none of them actually can sync anything. They talk all about that, yet the mobile apps are still terrible. Dropbox, box and even tried samsung link. None of them care to sync anything onto your phone, they just offer convenient/single file only access.
I found dropbox folder downloader, so I could at least get my initial library in with that.. Of course even that didn't work at first - since the S5 comes with little storage - my music library was 11gb - and the S5 only has about 9gb free with all the bloat samsung loads it up with. (9gb free for a $900 phone, thanks samsung) . Anyways i had a 32gb sd card laying around i got for free years ago, so I should be good to go. Nope... 4.4 doesn't allow you to write to your sd card in any useful fashion. Anyways I got that fixed, and its currently downloading my library.
My question is:
How can I make this easier. I mean next time I want to do that again, it takes several hours.. (it will be faster next time since it would just have to check each file rather then download them all, but still likely slow).
All i want is a simple cloud storage that does what people generally think it does - fully sync my stuff between my devices. Is there any service (with both pc and mobile apps) out there that does this?
Preferably a way I can get dropbox to do it, but I'll pay for a different service/app if theres a better way.

Yea I've used drive lots too. It doesn't sync anything to android.
Google drive is pretty much exactly like dropbox in functionality.. It will only sync to desktop, the mobile app doesn't do it.
The only automatic function it has, is auto image backup to drive, and the drive app itself doesn't do that, the google+ app does. And it works quite well for it what it is. But it only does that - backup images. And one way only (it doesn't really sync, and while there does seem to be a desktop app, it's also just called backup, not sync). Plus even though the pics used up your drive space, they were not accessible through google drive, just google+. Though they JUST fixed that, like the last day or so it seems to have that functionality now, tho it still only has a few pics from my new phone, my ones from my old phone say "your older pictures will show here soon".
So to go the other way (pc to phone) i'll have to wait on that, and link my pc pics folder to that one folder (if it allows it).
So yea its nice for photos, but I see no way to do any of that for music. There was an article on the frontpage for some info about how to do phone to google drive for music, but it wasn't "syncing" - wasn't automatic, and again, only one way.
I know drive and dropbox have decent api's, so there is probably some more complex way to set them up to sync, just not sure how yet. Plus there are some specific music services out there, but I don't know even if any of those sync to mobile.

Yah that's what I'm guessing to. All other cloud services are pretty much the same in terms of what they offer but I guess none sync to android very well. If you want to try another syncing app you may want to look at bittorent sync which may be what your looking for.
I think you can use an app for that. Try foldersync https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dk.tacit.android.foldersync.lite

Hacked Galaxy S10e

Hi Everyone
I'm assume my phone been hacked or cloned I'm not sure what's the right word for it but I need help to find out If I'm right or I'm just being paranoid.
Galaxy S10e SM-GF970F
Phone status Official
One UI version 3.0
Android version 11
I find in my battery usage my secure folder using 381 MB of data what I hardly use, , 324 MB Foreground, 57 MB background.
In the secure folder checking wi-fi data usage , on the bottom has "something" named 15010286 what used 5,41 kb data in the past week..
Some of my setting are changing, like I had swithed off the option to show up the letter or number when I typing passwords etc.
When I checking battery usage in settings, I scrolling down and after couple seconds its jump up the top again.
My question would be: any program what would find the program what the intruder used?
How can be sure if Im hacked or how can I clean my phone??
Thanks
Sounds less like a hacker and more like just a buggy phone xD. This behaviour is in fact strange but I would doubt that this is a hacker. Maybe you've downloaded some cracked apks from the internet and accidentally downloaded malware.
Maybe this isn't the best way but try this:
Go to device care, device security (or something similar) and scan your phone. If there is an obvious malware the scan will detect it. if not, I cannot help you.
Personally I store everything on my sd card so I would just do a factory reset. Idk about you.
Thanks for the reply.
I have SOPHOS "antieverything" on my phone, the only app what didn't come from google play was the latest Vanced.
Device care/device security shows no malware.
I have 100 GB data on my phone, my SD card encrypted, same as my phone. Any advice what is the easiest way to save all those pictures and videos before I factory reset my phone? Preferably direct to an USB as most likely my PC and home network hacked too.
Thanks
