Ever since the last OTA was installed which included the app optimization, I've noticed that LastPass keeps getting killed. I have to not only start it again and log-in again but I also have to go to Accessibility to turn LastPass off and then on again. I did turn the app optimization for this app off (switched it to Never or whatever it's called). But nothing changed. The only remedy is to turn off App Optimization altogether which totally sucks because it has been helping with my battery quite a bit... I've played a lot with the available options in the app itself, and nothing seems to make a difference because I don't think it's an app-related problem in the first place.
Anyone else has experienced similar problem and found a solution?

I'm having the exact same trouble. I don't think it's App Optimization since it was happening before that update for me. I've tried everything to keep it from being re-disabled. I saw other reviews on the Play Store with the same issue before App Optimization was added.
Yeah I'm having the same issue with lastpass and it was also before the update. I think it's something with 5.1.1.

You would have to have greenify as well as purchase the donation package, which let's you do a few other things like get notifications even if an app if hibernated as welll hibernate system apps

I've seen some people having trouble with the "Mediaserver" sucking up their battery on the Moto g. I found out what is is, but I don't know how to fix it.
It's caused by a wakelock called "qcamera2factory" and it always starts when I use Snapchat, an app most of you guys should know and probably use. So the "qcamera2factory" starts every time I open Snapchat for the first time after forcing to "kill" Media Server with an app called "Mediaserver killer" and if I don't kill it that way, it just keeps on adding time to the "keep wake" on the battery screen.
It sucks that I can't use Snapchat and I really want a fix for it. Can someone on here help me with this?
Thanks in advance, I would really apreciate it!
fyi: I don't have snapchat but the last 2 days I had the same wakelock from qcamera2factory, solved by clearing data on media storage, force stopping camera and gallery and a reboot, since I don't have root atm.

What do you mean by clearing data and forece stopping gallery? Thanks for your reply
settings/applications/all, search for the names I mentioned, and click on them and you will see the 'clear data' and 'force close' buttons

It's not caused by Snapchat, it just appears sometimes when you use the camera. I had this wakelock twice and in both cases I was just making photos, I don't have Snapchat installed.
Happened to me with Focal (beta) camera, and skype. Seems to be something buggy with camera apps
Had this wakelock as well. Turned out to be Skype. Uninstalled and everything Is good.
Who'da thunk a Microsoft app would degrade the performance of an Android phone?

Has anybody tried the xposed framework? Phone is rooted and I want to use the "keep notifications" feature which requires xposed. I have read the xposed threads and it seems like its very unstable n had loads of bugs and can also almost brick the phone. Has any body tried greenify with xposed? Has anybody installed xposed successfully on moto g?Are there any problems on moto g due to xposed?
Thanks guys for the help. I did install and activate it and rebooted. I activated the greenify module and rebooted again. Then I turned on the "keep notiifcations" feature in greenify and rebooted yet again. Now another problem quietly bombarded upon my face. I am simply not getting any notification for the hibernated apps. For example, let's take the Facebook's messenger app. It is hibernated. I asked my friend to send me a message just to see if I got any notification. I simply didn't. Any solutions to this?

Xposed gets unstable if you use lots of modules and especially some exotic ones.Otherwise you wont even notice that it's there.
I concur. Used Xposed with the GravityBox and BootManager modules for several months on my previous phone and never had any problem. I guess you could get bugs if you activate different modules that perform the same modifications, though. They might conflict with one another, I guess.

Yes : uninstall Greenify
I never noticed any real difference in battery life.
I am seriously considering giving up on greenify for a while and see if it goes well, maybe back to use ART in this case for uninstalling xposed. I feel the battery impact is not that huge at all.

Guys, I don't use Greenify for saving battery, I use it for getting some free RAM. These apps like Whatsapp, Facebook, Messenger, etc always keep running in the background and hog memory and impact game performance. Also, when these apps receive messages and a notification comes up, the running game lags for some seconds badly. One solution is turning the wifi off. But still, these apps do try to connect when running in the background and thus they do have some sort of activity going on. Also, they eat RAM and depriving the game of memory and thus slowing it down.

In that case simply enable "GCM Push notifications" on experimental features, all the pushes that come within GCM will work properly - well, quite properly since it lags the notifications a bit on my end.

Hello, (sorry for my english ) I have a Samsung Galaxy S8 plus SM-G9550 and I would like to know how I can prevent the system from stopping important processes running in the background, since the widgets can not be used without manually activating the app to which the widget belongs. Don´t Synchronize the weather widgets for example, also applications widgets to record or play audio, only work a few minutes after application was manually opened and then stop working, also close streaming applications running in the background as "radiocut" . I already tried everything, even removing the apps from the energy saving settings, I put those applications in the list of apps without supervision of the power monitor and still do not work, only work for a few minutes and then the system stops the process, Could you help me solve this problem?
Thank you very much
You can't really stop the S8 from killing processes. It has very bad memory management and constantly kills processes and running apps. It's very annoying.

I think you have to turn off the app from Battery Optimization. Try Settings; Apps; touch the three DOT menu on the right corner, select Special access; Optimize battery usage; on the top left select "All apps" by default it shows "Apps not optimized" and Turn off Battery Optimization from the app you want to keep running... Let see if it works...

In device manager under battery there is the ability to add apps to the whitelist so the device manager won't stop them.

This doesn't work. The issue is with memory management on the device. It's pretty well documented in a few places on XDA already and is by no means a new problem for Samsung. It has gotten a lot worse since Samsung started moving to Nougat though.
Can you give a reproducible scenario?
The original post already mentioned that he already removed the apps at battery optimization.

Open 6-8 apps, in my case phone, messages, email, browser with 10 tabs, BBM, calendar, Nine Email, and Slack and watch the phone shut down apps on its own even if they are removed from all optimization features. It sometimes takes a few hours, other times it's quicker, but sooner or later the phone just shuts down apps on its own. Most of the time it kills the phone app and messages first. Then all the browser tabs go into refresh mode.

It worked for me too.
I had an Galaxy S6 and used to sync FolderSync with an FTP account.
After migrating to Galaxy S8+ FolderSync doesn't work anymore.
It does sync once while the app is opened and after that it stops syncing, no matter if it is closed not.
Removing Battery management for FolderSync app makes syncing to stay running in background even with all apps closed.
Thanks!
It seems after about 48 hours of up time. The phone begins to lag extremely bad. Mostly when I first start typing it'll take 3 seconds or so for it to finally catch up to my typing. This happens Everytime I use the keyboard after those 48 hours or so. Apps seem to open very slowly as well after this time. A reboot seems to fix it and it runs fine after that until then. I've tried about 3 different kernels and face the problems with everyone. Not seeing any odd battery drain either. Just curious as to what would be causing this. Only module I have installed is google framework (for the dialer)

Hmm really. I'll have to give that a shot ?
EDIT
I don't see Gboard even under the battery optimization. Doesn't give me an option to remove it from optimization. Pretty much all apps run slower around the 48 hour mark it's not just Gboard. But that's weird it's most annoying.

Could be an app leaking memory (not properly returning it when it's no longer needed). Have you added any new apps recently? Try freezing them.
Or perhaps a bad app update?

I'll have to check apps here and there cause I have a pretty long app list but nothing that would run in the background much. But nothing new that I'm aware of. Not seeing my memory usage maxed out or anything. I'll have to take another look after my phone's been on for 48 hours.

Show system apps from menu
Also if you have Alot of apps installed you can try to turn off sync
This should take Alot of strain away from apps trying to update/check for updates
Stuff like snapchat, Facebook, and other apps with frequent updates.
If you have magisk/EdXposed installed it could be these as well since they are trying to force the system to change code.
It kinda depends on what you have done to your device, if it's stock then sync or doze could be the problem

Sync isn't on for most apps I have. Everything is stock other than having magisk installed. Like I said oddly battery life and phone speed are great until 48h mark or so. I'll just have to work on narrowing it down from apps and stuff. Gboard isn't under any optimization settings. I can't remove it even with system apps enabled. Because if it's just cause the app is being dozed I would like to remove it.

Sync is either on or off. I don't believe you can select certain apps, atleast I'm not aware of this as I just turn it off unless I need updates
Is the battery dead or is it being charged over the 48h.
If the apps being forced to sleep it has the tendency to lag and be unstable (stuff I noticed with my s5 before this phone)
Have you tried another keyboard? (I use SwiftKey and have had no lagging issues unless I messed with stand by apps via developer options)

Haven't tried another keyboard like I said it's not just the keyboard the apps also seem slow but the keyboard is also slow. The battery is fully charged at the time of the slowness. Sync I see for multiple apps overall.

Does clash of clans, cod mobile, or old school runescape run on your device? Or do you get blackscreen?
Seems it only happened on the new 10.3.0 / 10.0.3
It use to run fine on older 10.0.0
I think it could be the "backup" since it broke these apks into parts.
Its kinda annoying because I haven't been able to use these in over a month.
And OnePlus is in hiding due to the cornavirus.
It is the gboard sometimes and it usually starts to happen wit whatsapp and Instagram
It's the gboard it's hide arrow is sometimes visible even if you're not using now I don't know if this happens on your phone but using whatsapp or Instagram(nightly) whenever you go to Home screen from typing a message there's a small arrow that will appear at left bottom that collapses the keyboard. also there's a delay in status bar pull down sometimes whenever the problem latter mentioned starts to occur.

Just like it says. I am having a issues with some apps not saving after I set them. It happens when I shut the app down or reboot and I find that the phone is not doing what I set for the app. I open the app to check the settings and it has all been erased like new. If I keep the app open it runs all the settings correctly and saves them but as soon as I close the app or reboot it some of those apps default like it is a brand new app. Any thoughts?
Thanks

No that doesn't appear to be that either. I checked all the apps that seem to be having this problem. Unfortunately that isn't it either. Thank you for the suggestion! IDK if a reflash without wiping would help?
I have never seen this or experienced it. Have you done "something" different? Tried to root, or install a ROM, or...???? If it keeps happening EVEN to native/default/system apps then I would recommend a factory reset with a low level cache wipe...if it can be done on this phone.

I would go for the reflash, and in the end, go for a clean flash.
I didn't experience this problem, but I did have an issue where every time I set a conversation as a priority, the second I left that screen, it reset back to default. I don't have the issue now, but I've also reflashed since then.
I have fixed it by wiping the affected apps data and then uninstalling them and readding the settings. Thanks guys!
