Hi guys.
I have bought a THL w3+ from geekbuying.com 6 months ago. Almost from the beginning I have a problem because randomly Android does not recognize the rear camera and when I start the camera program is only posible to choose the frontal one (2Mpx). It doesn't appear the icon to change between them.
I have done many tests with inconclusive results. These are the facts:
* The mobile phone came to me with Thl.w3.12.1113.6577.COM.EN ROM installed.
* The mobile phone was rooted it
* Randomly the camera program crashes and since this moment is not possible to use the rear camera. Even if I restart the mobile phone.
* I've tried with different ROMs with no success
Sometimes, the camera has returned to life.
Once when I removed the battery for a minutes, after restar the camera was working (till next crash few days after). It didn't happen again, I've tried to remove the battery and It doesn't work
Once when I replaced the boot partition with the original ROM. It didn't happen again
Once suddenly in a normal restart after the battery ran out. It didn't happen again
As you can see, there are not clear symptoms and I don't know what else to do. Sometimes I think is a sw problem and sometimes I think that is a "battery-saturation" for having the mobile phone too much time with no restart
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Sorry I have no idea why yours behaves like that.
I've had this phone since November 2012, only recently did my front camera stop working
once i switch to the front camera in the camera app, it freezes.
I tried another app called Cymera, the same result.
But my rear 8MP camera still works.
You can ask customer service for the solution.
Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone else had a problem with the N5 camera?
1. When taking photosphere's, sometimes the camera just restarts taking the photosphere and I need to start all over again.
2. When taking videos, recording will stop after 30s to 1min
3. I can't take time lapse videos for more than 30s to 1min because it automatically stops too.
I'm not getting any FCs or anything. Do you think this could be a hardware issue? I noticed these problems before I unlocked and rooted too...
Thanks for any suggestions or help anyone has! =]
Hi folks, it seems to be a rare issue but it is drving me crazy every time I use the camera.
I am on stock not rooted kitkat 4.4.2, the issue is only seen after update the google camera to the latest version with the new ui change.
Now every time I launch the camera app, the phone could hang up for 1 to 3 seconds without doing anything (low possibility). There is a guarantee (100%) that the phone will lag for more than 2 seconds when I take the first two photos in normal mode (the screen just freeze at the time when the photo swiping animation takes place after hit the capture button). Also, it is very often to see the similar lag when I browse the recent photos in the camera app.
I tried to reinstall the latest update; clear the app data + cache, but neither works for me. Now I just go back to the old camera, all the freezes/lags are gone!
Please can anyone suggest some possible solutions? I really like the new camera ui. Thanks!

My new camera app is pretty buggy too actually, random freezes, etc...
I think it'll get better with time.

For some God forsaken reason, the camera in my N5 is a pile of crap. Let me list the issues:
(Note I'm using the stock Google Camera app and have tried CM Focal with identical results).
Switching from Rear to Front camera takes a stupid amount of time, usually winds up crashing the Camera app altogether.
Switching from Camera to Video results in a grey bar, 1/10th the width of the screen, spanning the entire length of the right side of the screen. The app usually crashes after this.
Videos usually can't record, the screen freezes, forcing me to hit the back or home button.
When videos do record, they're corrupt and cant be played on any windows machine or in any program.
Sound quality is laughable. (wasn't when I first bought the phone with 4.4.2 on it)
Snapchat usually can't even launch the camera and asks to restart the app. Usually results in me having to reboot the phone.
When the camera does work in Snapchat, pictures come out fine, but switching cameras usually reproduces the issue mentioned above. Videos, however record only 50% of the time. The times they dont, the screen freezes, resulting me having to restart the app.
When videos do actually record in Snapchat they have about a 50/50 of being unable to be played back, resulting in the error message: "Can't play this video".
On rare occasions, using the camera in Snapchat results in the screen flickering rapidly for a few seconds and then the phone reboots... The last time this occured it wiped all the data to Facebook, Snapchat, and EvolveSMS.
These symptoms exist in both Vanilla KitKat 4.4.4 and CM11 (Snapshot M8). Yes, I have reinstalled Snapchat. I've also tried toggling on/off HDR+ to no avail.
My Camera is basically useless and it's extremely annoying. It has even caused crashes that have wiped data from my phone. Hardware related? Software related? I'm really at a loss here... Any help is appreciated.
Well first try a complete fresh install to see if it's just software related

Factory reset, wiped case and dalvik, freshly installed CM11 last night before bed. Same symptoms exist as they did before.
My camera starts only very slow since I have rooted my device. Only root with Lollipo 5.1 no custom rom.
When I click to open the camera, a black screen pops up and I have to wait for 5 seconds until I can use the camera.
Same when I want to use the flashlight in the dark. It takes 5 seconds for it to start and 5 seconds to turn off. When shooting a picture after the camera has started, the flash works normally.
Another problem I have is, when shooting a picture, I have to hold the camera very calm because I found a setting to change the picture quality to "High quality, slow shoot" and this affects the speed when taking a picture. Unfortunally this setting seems to have gonne. I upgraded to Android 5.1 and since than I cant find it anymore.
Has anyone a idea what could cause these problems?
