Need a guy who tried most of the roms.. - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i want to flash a rom to my brothers z3 d6603.. I want to try the roms myself but i dont have free time to flash and test and my brother is so dumb to do himself. So I really want to know by the help of yours which rom is REALLY stable and battery friendly ?
PLEASE don't tell me try yourself. i know that i should test but i really don't have time and the phone is not mine..
ANY ANSWER WOULD BE APPRECIATED.. THANKS!!

Pre-rooted russian/Baltic Stock rom 5.1.1 is the best.. Just block with titanium backup the Sony/Google Apps that you'll not use and done..

Hey, I have tested a lot of ROM's my favorite so far is:
Moonwalker Epidemic
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/development/rom-moonwalker-epidemic-v1-5-0-t3167584
and Marshmallow Concept
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/general/sonys-android-concept-marshmallow-t3229030

thanks for your replies and suggestions !!

Use PureX or Wolfbreaks's ROM they are both good, if you want super stock light version, root stock and flash moly82's debloater script

There are girls here too I think RXSW by @Wolfbreak is amazing since it's really stable, fluid and provides great battery life, it's got great sound tweaks as well... eXistenZ by @niaboc79 is quite outstanding also since it's got a lot of customization options without the need to install Xposed... At the end it depends on what he needs

Best GB ROM?

Hello friends!
Presently I am on Osmanfans 1.3 based on XXKB3 Froyo. As its a pretty long time since I updated, I am planning to update. As the phone will be used by my wife and she doesnt like to experiment a lot, please guide me as to which is the best ROM and kernal available as of now.
Please donot confuse me with multiple choices. I want to shift to a Gingerbread ROM which is complete in itself and doesnt lack features. I checked the features of MIUI and it looked nice but unfortunately it doesnt support Video recording and seems to have battery issues.
All said and done, give me one ROM that you guys think is the best...
Thank you.

I will suggest u 2 simple options
1. XXKPQ Its one of the most famous GB rom available which most of the people & most of the kernel developers use it as base rom. So I highly recommand u to use it.
2. DDKP3 Its Indian based rom which has most highest battery backup in GB rom. But as compared to xxkpq it has less mods avalable in forum.
U can use use xda bam kernel or doomlord kernel. Both are superb kernels.
Choice is urs...!!

dont misguide people plz.
If your wife has to use it then I suggest you stick to xxkb3 rom which has least bugs whereas all gb roms have bugs at my last count it was having 7 bugs. These bugs either have workaround or custom mods or use custom kernal which solves these bugs.
I am using stock kpq, rooted, de-odexed and removed all unnecessary apps. Added necessary mods.
Pretty happy with it.

As he mentioned he needs video recording, so any CM based ROMs are out of question.
u can use poseidon rom since it more stable than CM all issues encountered by the users and testers has been solved like wifi, gps, battery performance..etc
plz hit the thanks button if i helped you
yep, i agree buddy.
of all roms ive tried (not including cm's) poseidon's rom over xxkpq was smoothest and best, with bugs solved.. along with this installation was kernel: uc v9 1009 + custom theme (you may choose up to your own choice) + some mods/scripts. the above enumerated was the best ive used for so long before moving to miui v4 2.7.6 which is way too smooth (however, unapplicable to u since video recording deems to work in low res).
cheers.
I loved titanium rom the most!! finest rom ^_^ .. even supports Hindi and other languages .. and i found it to be best when it comes battery ..

Would you say miui and poseidon are better than remics?? I'm thinking of flashing miui. I'm looking mostly for smoothnes in scroll and opening apps.
For you I think the best options are titanium or stock. I love stock roms! But they are not smooth enough for me, if that's not a problem for you, you should use the stock rom because of the lack of bugs.

i think ill go for titanium again, just will ask anyone if that rom works with bam kernel, smooth fast best battery life. I love stock rom to but to much lags and not so smooth, titanium has just one little bug; when someone calls you u cant see who is calling for about 1 second thats enough for grabbing the phone from your pocket lol, u all got thanks for answers, thanks.
if u want to be in stock ROM better to try the new value pack which is DDLF2 it has been reviewed by others and they can say that it is battery efficient, smooth and stable...and if u found lags u can use bam kernel v.14 beta that fixes bugs.. dont forget the thanks button..hehe
u can read some reviews about the said fw here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1741370
Try TheFrankenstein's Mod for DDLF2. Its smooth as hell . Literally as fast as CM7 . U could give it a try .

is there any bug ?
@ Angenit
im not saying that poseidon is better than remics buddy. i am saying that poseidon could be of good choice too. pls read op buddy, he asks for a bug free rom (specially with video recording) so i did not mention about remics, etc so as not to mislead him.
cheers,
edit:
sorry buddy, misunderstood ur post hehe..
poseidon paired with uc kernel v9 1009 was the longest streak i used (in terms of gingerbread base). apps smooth and snappy during opening. titanium had good reviews too buddy.
if u were referring of miui gingerbread, its not so stable and battery life is short. ryt now however, i am on miui v4 (ics based), which is far the snappiest ive tried in terms of scrolling and opening apps. battery life also is satisfactory with around 15-17 hrs moderate use per experience. miui v4's external card been changed to emmc =)

Worth to change from stock rom to custom one ?

Hey guys.
What's the gain of using a custom rom over the stock one (Assuming rooted stock rom) ?
I'm kinda lost in all the roms available , so I was wondering if it was really worth it
Cheers

Battery life (if coupled with custom kernel)
Modifications -- some brilliant mods available -- Battery Icons, Themes, Menu settings etc
Cause you can :good:
-------
Using a custom Kernel with Stock Rooted and a few Xposed modules can be the same as a custom ROM most of the time though.. So give that a try first.
I have a lot better speed and battery life using Hyperdrive ROM with Beastmode Kernel. All the Touchwiz stuff (pen, etc.) still works, so yeah. Custom ROM > Samsung Bloatware.
I get between 11-14 hours with REALLY heavy use and full screen brightness and overclocked.

I have been trying custom ROM's and Kernels for many years..... I'm yet to find one that's worth the hassle.
Just disable the stock apps/bloatware you don't use and you'll get better { performance/battery life } than any custom ROM.
The only reason to use a custom ROM (IMO) would be for additional (required) functionality like additional fie system support etc.
I have personally had absolutely no good reason for the use of a custom Rom in years !.
I also don't feel like using custom rom over stock, I did many experiments with note one but with note 3 I would stay with stock rom.
Bloat wares are not bothering me, battery life is also decent so in my opinion leaving some extra utilities stock is better
Depends on which custom rom you choose. Some rom are good, nice and stable but others don't.
Sometimes I use custom rom because I wanna remove useless apps installed by carriers. If you find it not a issue, keep the stock one.
So if your phone is rooted then u don't really need custom rom isn't it well correct me if I'm wrong as I'm new to that android thing lol

It's not a matter of "need" Hyperdrive has given me better battery life (even after freezing all the bloat) and has a lot of customization. You can do most of it through Xposed, but all the really valuable things are in it already. I never found one I thought was worth it until hyperdrive.
Try one of the ROMs that look interesting, if you like it keep using it. If not, that's what nandroid backups are for.

If u know how to tweaks it urself, do modification to what u need, no custom rom is needed once u r rooted. Basically, once u r rooted u can do all system changes, IF u know how to.
But, assuming u r new, based on ur post, just grab any custom tom u like nd try.

ROM Recommendation

Hi,
My brother has some issues with his phone (Moto G 2013, not dual SIM, not 4G) in the last time. The phone is quite unstable, so I recommended him to flash custom recovery, and eventually custom ROM.
The question is which one? This is not ROM vs ROM thread. I do not wont to compare ROMs. Just aks people for they personal experience. If anyone could recommend a stable (his/her personal opinion.) ROM, or comment lolipop, should I got for Kit Kat ROM or Loli (He still hasn't received the OTA update to Lolipop.).
I have tried to research a bit and find out for my self what would be the best option for him, but the task is not so simple, and pretty time consuming. Strange how everything, from rooting to flashing seem so complicated when one looks at the forum, when one actually only has to unlock the bootloader, fastboot flash recovery, and flash the ROM of personal choice (Here I need a bit help : )).
I hope the question is ok, if not... sorry in advance.
the stock lollipop optimized version by lost101 + XT1032_Retail_BR_502_Optimized_v1.1a + greenify + xposed + gB is brilliant running smooth , battery life is great :good:

What is +gB? All general functionality like camera, sensors, GPS work normal, and stable?
Bit unrelated question about lollipop, is there a way to expand the notification card, like message or Google now card in notification bar? When I try to do that on my phone I only get the part with tiles (configuration shortcuts.)...
Thank you for your answer!

I really didn't expect to find so many xposed modules in so good shape so fast! And you mean they all work, even gravity box!
Regarding stability, I have found many people complain even about official OTA updates. My brother also has serious stability issues with offices stock original, not rooted ROM on his Moto G, so stock doesn't always has to mean stability. People often root and start using custom ROMs because issues with stock.
But that's another story ☺. Thank you very much for your recommendation and very useful input. You have saved me a lot of hours of reading mostly useless stuff. I will definitely make make him flash what you recommended ☺. He was a bit afraid first when he found our he is losing his warranty when he applies for a device number, for unlocking the bootloader, but I remind him that his warranty is anyway not valid any more, and now we are about to proceed with unlocking, flashing TWRP, and this Lolipop ROM you recommended.

hahahaha, I've been flashing Roms and kernels to see which would suit me best, and I found this amazing stock ROM with amazing battery life.
Cheers
If you want half-bleeding edge ROMs than Dirty Unicorns is quite good with a big load a custom tweaks HOWEVER, I found resource management (RAM mostly) on Dirty Unicorns was . . . less than satisfactory and battery life was average-not great. If you want an up-to-date and almost-as-many-tweaks-as-dirty-unicorns then Exodus is the way to go Rock solid, fluid and quite compatible with custom kernels.
Oh, and about kernels. I cannot recommend ZERO Byte kernel enough. Great battery life, even with slight overclock (meaning better performance) and supports underclock (battery save 2 extreme!)
If him want a stock like and rock stable try AOSP+OMS.

[Q] Best rom for now?

Hi
Now I am using Stock+ Rom
Can you recommend me other rom which is worth to try?
I know that I should test all but there are a lot of roms...
I am looking for stable and very fast rom in daily use

Hi, there isn't something like "The best ROM" , that depends on what you would like to see in a ROM.
If you want something close to stock with some useful added features... I suggest you the The Pure Nexus Project ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/development/rom-pure-nexus-project-layers-t3158484 . I won't tell you much about it, just give it a try to see if you like it. :good:
Don't forget to take a full backup of your current setup/ROM before flashing anything.
Hope this helps you enough.
I have tried Pure nexus, cyanogenmod, and miui7
Pure nexus is my favorite, basically stock but with less bloatware and more customization. very stable
cyanogenmod is alright, I appreciate the OTA updates. I was having some issues with the music player recently (it will crash then all sounds mute)
Miui7 is too confusing, looks nothing like android. Not for me but maybe some will like it.
