Hi,
I was attempting to install a Lolipop ROM on my HTC Pico and in the process had to install TWRP(previously had CWM). Something happened, and now my exisiting KitKat ROM is in bootloops(CM) and the Recovery refuses to open and is simply stuck at the TWRP welcome image. Is there a way in which I can flash a recovery onto it without using the phone directly but by connecting it to the Laptop somehow? Or should I leave it for dead?(Note: it is not my daily driver)
Thanks and Cheers.
If i understand you flash TWRP recovery from lollipop thread right?
Bro that TWRP like aw3som3 recovery which change your partition table ,perhabs that makes your phone stuck.
Dont worry , reboot phone to fastboot mode and flash A normal TWRP recovery from our forum
And Next time you want to flash aw3som3 or lollipop recovery Remember to wipe system, cache, data, dalvik cache before flash

Story of my life with the recovery issues. Check my above thread and you won't have to bury the Pico.
Sent from a Cool Phone stuck with crappy KingUser
I have unlocked the boot loader on oneplus one long back. I tried to upgrade my rom to Resurrection Remix 7.1.1
I successfully upgraded the ROM and also flashed SuperSu in it. I wanted to flash the Opengaps Aroma 7.1 and that is where I ran into issue because of my stupidity.
I found from GitHub that there were some issues with twrp versions to run the aroma installer thus I tried multiple TWRP versions via (Google play - official TWRP recovery app) by downloading them and flashing it to recovery.
I have taken the full nandroid backup but unfortunately didn't keep it on external devices. So it was in the phone itself.
Now the issue -
When I tried flashing TWRP 3.0.2.0 from existing 2.8.4.1 I tried to run the Aroma but it didn't work. Then I tried to flash the recovery with TWRP 2.8.6.1 but Aroma failed again.
However, on the GitHub there was a info stating that known working TWRP recovery on Oneplus one is of TWRP 2.8.4.1
I tried to flash that into recovery and flash the Aroma, but it didn't boot into recovery with that image. Later I restarted the phone, and again flashed the latest recovery version 3.0.2.0
From here I ran into issue. When tried again to flash the Aroma, it didn't work. So I booted recovery again and in that I selected the recovery version 2.8.4.0 for both recovery and boot partition.
After that, phone is neither booting the system nor into recovery. I don't want to loose my data (which is in phone backup) and neither want to try Aroma again. (Even if all the 900mb data needs to be deleted.).
Can the XDA members confirm can I reinstall recovery working image (2.8.4.1) once again through the adb flash recovery <image>. And boot into recovery mode so that I can delete the boot partition once again and reinstall the ROM and data ?
I tried doing that once but one of the laptops which I had access didn't recognize the adb devices. May be the driver was not working for Win10 OS. However, on my personal laptop earlier I was able to run adb commands through CMD prompt. Currently, I don't have personal laptop and may get it by next week.
Can anybody please share me the links of working android driver so that I can install them on current laptop and then try adb commands from SDK to connect my phone.
Any suggestion from members would be of great help.
Note: Please don't suggest the methods to factory reset or lock bootloader to factory settings. As I don't want to loose all my contacts and data.
If there is a way to get just recovery working on the phone, it would be of great help. So that I can wipe other partitions and rebuild it again.
Thank You.
Hi guys i was trying to install a custom rom on my mate 9 (MHA-L29C432-156)so i followed the instructions ; unlocked the bootloader; then installed twrp 3.1.0-0; on twrp formated data; then full wiped and try to install AurRom from SD; but get a message that zip file is corrupted; so I tried with S.H.I.E.L.D ROM and it flashed , but then when boot goes to eRecovery, and give me 3 options download latest version and recovery; reboot and shutdown. So now I cant boot the phone, when I restarted, followed same steps , format data, full wipe and trying to installing again but getting a message about all zip files of the roms are corrupted; then i try to restore backup; and same again get the huawei logo, then the android logo , phone restarts and eRecovery again.
Please someone HELP, I use this phone for my work...........!!!!!!!!!
How did you full wipe?
Also try with Twrp 3.0.2-2

Something went wrong here. You can run 'adb logcat' to see the crash details while starting.
If you have a backup on twrp then restore to get phone working. You may need to flash the public and hw-data zips afterwards though.
If you don't have a backup then you could try flashing the C636 off line firmware and then use firmware finder to go back to your original firmware
Sent from my MHA-L09 using XDA-Developers Legacy app
you may just flash the modified recovery ( See Guide subforum ) ) to bypass the update certification and authorization and reflash an original firmware. your stored files will be lost anyway in most cases.
I would bet superuser ( shield ) and SuperSU ( Aurom) messed your boot image. Both are incompatible to each other and, afaik both are incompatible to twrp 3.1.
Flash TWRP 3.0.2.2, reboot to recovery again to change version, flash the rom ( f.e. shield rom), boot once up, reboot to recovery and THEN you may flash twrp 3.1
Thanks all of you guys, I've solved the problem, it seems that's something related to the sd card, I've formated the sd and transfer the files trough another phone and then put the sd on the mate 9, I follow the steps as followed before and works successfully, now I'm on AurRom and 182 firmware.

1) How to install? If you have stock zenui go to 1C, if you have a custom ROM go to 1A
If you don't backup all your data you lost all.
1A) First do a TWRP backup on sdcard (if you don't have sdcard just do in internal storage and save the backup on pc. Select system, data, recovery and boot. Then go to wipe - advanced wipe, select dalvik, system, data, cache and Swype.
Then reboot in fastboot.
Now your phone don't have any OS installed so don't boot. We are going to install the stock and unmodified firmware and recovery on the phone.
1B) Download Asus flashtool:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9rp3AJHKJXjNmRuRUJMWmtOT3c/view
and android 7 raw firmware for
ZE552KL:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/o12vo...14.2020.1703.28_M3.10.47.3_Phone-user.raw.zip
ZE520KL: http://www.mediafire.com/file/5qrp2...14.2020.1703.28_M3.10.47.3_Phone-user.raw.zip
Now boot your phone in fastboot, connect to pc, install and open Asus flash tool, select raw file and device model and flash the firmware. If the pc don't detect your phone install the drivers.
1C) Download from Asus site the latest nougat update:
WARNING: IF YOU OPEN THE ZIP FILE THE RECOVERY FAIL TO UPDATE
And you must delete this zip and download another
ZE552KL: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/ZenFone/ZE552KL/UL-ASUS_Z012D-WW-14.2020.1712.85-user.zip

http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/ZenFone/ZE520KL/UL-ASUS_Z017D_1-WW-14.2020.1712.85-user.zip
Put in device storage and wait the device to detect the update. Tap on notification and install. If fail try in order:
-put in sdcard and update via STOCK recovery
-sideload the file from your PC via adb
-download the file with another browser and delete the previous
After that, so the same with Android 8.0 update

2) Flash recovery
I know there are another method to flash a recovery but this method is simply:
2A) Download twrp from this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone-3/development/recovery-twrp-3-2-1-ze520kl-ze552kl-t3742765
Download Zenfone 3 toolkit from this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone-3/how-to/tool-zenfone-3-one-click-tool-t3507417
2B) Unpack and go to zenfone3_clictool/twrp folder. Delete both recoveries and put the 3.2.1 twrp in folder. If you have ZE552KL rename with " twrp-3.0.2-Z012D ", if you have ZE520KL rename with " twrp-3.0.2-Z017D ". Now boot your phone in fastboot, connect to pc and open the Zenfone 3 click tool, follow the instructions and select flash twrp for your device. Reboot your phone in recovery and see if can read internal storage. If read 0B try another time.
3) Rooting is so simple. Just download Magisk
boot in twrp and flash
Xposed work well, I tested only gravitybox
Substratum works... Meh

Great job!
However, I have a question. TWRP you mention to in 2A's version is 3.0.2 or 3.2.1?
I'm sorry that my English is bad.
So, just to be sure, I'm currently on ViperOS, I need to follow from 1A step, right? Or anything before that I have to do first?

No, it doesn't work on the ZE520KL.
As oreo is finally available on this phone I'll also build a new twrp version for it
(If anyone is wondering: I posted OP's twrp some time ago in the oreo beta leak thread here)
Stay tuned...

The ZE552KL TWRP works fine for flashing the Magisk at my ZE520KL but not much else
I can't wait to get a proper TWRP for my ZE520KL
Will this also work for Z012DC (Canadian 5.5" Zenfone3)? I'm running WW_14.2020.1709.68 with TWRP and rooted, would I start from 1A or 1C?

Ok, so I flash TWRP recovery and everything is OK, but, When I start the phone, it goes to bootloop...What should I do? Am I missing a step?
@Kevinxdfun29
Flash magisk, supersu binary or the no verify file if you don't want root. Then wipe cache and dalvik .

My phone is now WW-15.0410.1712.31
I cant sure that my phone will boot or not after flashed twrp. So I go to fastboot mode, and boot into twrp by command:
fastboot boot twrp-3.2.1-0-Z012-20171220-oreotest.img
downloading 'boot.img'...
OKAY [ 0.786s]
booting...
But nothing happens, my phone still in fastboot mode.
I can boot into twrp with beta oreo previously released.
I think that twrp is not compatible with official oreo now.

Try install recovery following the instructions in first post. Worked for me
If the "zenfone3 clicktool" method not work try
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.2.1-0-Z012-20171220-oreotest.img
So reboot in recovery and give me a feedback

Wrong thread bro
Hello,
I just received my OP6 and I followed the guide on XDA to unlock, modify the recovery in TWRP, root and install a custom ROM. On my old tel, I used to do it but then I had to do a wrong manipulation.
Tutorial I followed: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/oneplus-6-unlock-bootloader-flash-twrp-t3792643
What I have done :
1- Unlock via adb.exe
2- flash twrp-3.2.3-0-enchilada.img from adb.exe
3- Flash twrp-3.2.3-0-enchilada.ZIP
4- Flash Magisk-v17.2.zip
The phone was booting well and still on Oxygen OS
So I rebooted in TWRP to flash the ROM HAVOC custom (https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/development/rom-havoc-os-t3817805)
1- Wipe DATA, Davik, system
2- Flash the ROM.ZIP
3- reboot in TWRP
4- Flash Gapps => Error 20 with Gapps ARM64 and error 70 with Gapps ARM
5- Reboot system => Message : No OS Installed! Are you sure you wish to reboot ?
And when I reboot system, it comes back on the icon TWRP! Impossible to start on the ROM, it brings me back to the icon of recovery! I do not have enough on the menu. To have access again to the TWRP menu, I have to reflash twrp-3.2.3-0-enchilada.img ....
Do you have an idea to get back to normal where to install TWRP + Custom ROM?
Thank you.
PS: sorry i used google traduction.
I Solved my problem. I returned to stock but i always can't flash custom ROM. I blocked to TWRP icon after reboot.
