I have the new X920 (butterfly clone) MTK6589, and I have this invalid IMEI issue. I can manually get this fixed through your guide entering the engineer's mode. But everytime I reset to factory settings, the invalid imei error comes up. Is there a way to fix this permanently?

i think
it can be done if you have any previous backups of data partition before the invalid imei problem occured.

[Q] S4 clone mt6577

Hi,
I humbly ask for assistance on my issue.
To begin with I swapped my iphone5 for an s4 to join the android os, and sad to say the s4 provided was a clone.
Reality bites and I cannot undo the epic fail that has happened. So now I am trying to use this s4 clone.
Details:
- all the features of the s4 clone works okay when I got it, sim is being read and able to make calls and sms.
- it had a theme selector icon button, wherein if you click it, it allows you to select different themes to select and apply.
- i think it is rooted from the start
Problem started as follows:
- being the new user I applied factory reset on the phone via: settings-accounts-backup and reset-factory data reset(selected erase phone storage)-reset phone.
-phone reset did happen but problem is when phone restarted: the sim card is not being read by the phone, (sim management option is greyed out(via setting-mydevice)
-basically the phone is not reading the sim card
-tried changing sim card, I even brought the phone to a repairshop but told me they cant fix it because its a clone, but was advised it was not a hardware issue.
-repairman said the phone should be re-programmed, was advised that the sim card reader software probably got erased when the phone was factory reset.
-repairman also checked the IMEI and said that IMEI is okay (no problem)
-there is no problem with my sim since it works on my nokia phone.
Phone details:
Single sim (micro sim)
Mediatek mt6577 x2 1.001ghz (as per cpu identifier)
Hdc i9500 galaxy s4 layout (as per cpu identifier)
512mb ram
Powervr sgx 531 single core gpu
4.2.2 jellybean
Kernel compiled on 'root' workstation by user: rooter (build: eng.rooter.1371715303)
Linux version 3.4.0 ([email protected]) (gcc version 4.6.x-google 20120106 (prerelease) (gcc)) #1 smp preempt thu jun 20 16:01:33 cst 2013
Wifi works
Compass works
Air gesture works only on home screen and apps screen
Please help me..I really want to enjoy the android os, I cannot get a real s4 now, given I wasted my iphone5 for a knockoff.
Hopefully someone can help me on how this s4 clone can read the sim again.
If you need any additional info for my device please tell me so I can help.
S4 clone
Please help.l
I have this phone and have not used this setting yet. I have a backup of my original so if something like this were to happen, I can just use that and get back to where I was.
Essentially, I think that you may have lost your root (or something) with the factory reset... Check if you are still rooted by downloading Root Checker by Joey Krim. It's free, and will tell you if you are rooted or not. If you aren't, then maybe the root is what made sure the sim card was readable...
Now, if you don't have a root, you can follow the instructions on this page: http://semayi.blogspot.com/2013/03/mxnec-m307-mt6577-rooting-and-back-up.html
For our phones, if it is "stock", the phone will read as rooted according to Root Checker. However, if you use the program stated in the article it will show a yellow box in the lower-right corner if rooted. The article states that box should be green if fully rooted. I also saw the Backup button grayed out because of this... I hit the "Root" button, and it fully rooted the phone after several minutes (maybe 10 or so). This allowed me to create a full backup of my phone (as well as create a custom recovery from a copy of that backup).
If you're still having issues, tell me any other things you've tried or any other details and we'll go from there.
samsung S4 clone problem
well i read your post and i have 2 phones with same situation as yours and phone is full functionally but no network and seen "emergency only "
so its clear its sim is not read or some problem with reading to sim ....
so if anyone have some idea to solve this issue please help us..........
thanks a lot......
basically, you need to re-write the IMEI's (should be behind the backcover under the battery) into your NVRAM. there are basically 2 ways of doing this:
generating the IMEI file manually or using MAUI META 3G, SN Write Tool or MTK Droid tools. the first 2 methods will hardwrite them to your device, so if you want to wipe again everything will work fine from start. last one will softwrite them and they got wiped again after a factory reset. for now, just download Droid tools, klick on imei something and enter your imeis. (device needs to be in debugging mode, check your settings for that)
Im having a similar problem can anyone help
Hi All,
Im experiencing the same issue as the original poster.. after lots of searching in a relieved to have found this thread. My Galaxy S4 Spark is showing "no sim card detected"..
Having checked my Imei number and it is different from that on the back sticker. I have tried using MTK Tools to change it to the original one which is 3573********29 every thing looks to be successful but when i reboot and check the imei using *(Hash)06(hash) it show my imei as 3573********28/01..
I have also tried changing it using the mobile uncle app with the same result.. Needless to say my phone is showing no sim.
IS this normal or should the IMEI be showing as exactly the same as on the sticker.
Thanks in advanced,
Jonathan.
what phone did i buy?
Hello guys,
A few weeks ago i bought a samsung s4 clone 1:1 copy.Last days ive been reading allot on the forums but as a noob i cant see the trees through the wood ...im stuck... i did manage to root my divice but only after trying 10 -20 times.I used mtk droid tools.
My question is if anyone can tell me if there are other roms for this Phone and what Phone did i buy.
I hope someone can help me out. thanks .
MT6577 DualCore 2x1 Ghz, Android ICS 4.0 (4.2.2 is fake), Kernel Version 3.0.13. Device maybe can identified as mtk77_cu_ics2, but there are maybe few other builds out there using this name. i would higly recommend to store your backup on a safe place, if you lose it while playing around with ROMs device may be bricked forever. i cannot link you to another ROM - you need to port them yourself if you don't find a working one. you can search and try different ROM's, needrom.com is a good way to go. before flashing anything, make sure you never replace preloader or DSP_BL in flashtool. that is, for now, all can say. you need to dig deeper into your firmware to get all needed informations.

[Q] Zte v987 bricked, how to fix.

First of all, hello.
Second, let me explain the problem:
I accidentally soft - bricked my ZTE V987.
That would not be a problem if I didn't also lose my ROM backup.:crying:
What I did so far while trying to fix it:
1. Tried to re - install Bruno's CWM recovery through SP flash tool - was unable to. SP flash tool enable dram fail error.
2. Found out I needed a preloader.bin, found one that worked (have found few preloader.bin files for v987 but all failed to flash except one) - flashed that.
3. Tried Cwm again - success.
4. Instaled Bruno's 3.0 mod rom through CWM, success, but lost Baseband, IMEI, Serial Number, BT and WIFI MAC Address.
5. Tried installing zte v987 china stock 1.0.1 rom through cwm - success, have baseband, but no IMEI, no Serial Number, BT and WIFI MAC Address.
6. Found about sn write tool, used it to restore IMEI and WIFI MAC address - success, BT & SN - fail: SN says it is written yet it is always displayed as 0123456789ABCDEF, but BT MAC sn write tool always fails with BT DB write fail error.
So, from what I managed to figure out, I need either a full ROM Dump from a working ZTE 987, and a way to insert all these numbers back in, or any other way to fix my phone.
To anyone willing to help, thanks in advance, and if this thread is in wrong subforum I am very sorry.

V987 IMEI invalid
I have a very similar problem; V987 showing invalid IMEI numbers but WiFi, BT etc all working. SN shown as 123456789ABCDEF. Phone does not recognise the Engineering mode code or offer an option to enter it via Gravity box. I can't get the IMEI & SN Writer tool to recognise the phone.
I have another V987 with stock ROM - does anybody know how to dump the ROM so I can copy it to my other phone?
(The links to the stock ROM on Bruno's thread do not work)
Edit: Problem solved! I used MTK tools to make a NVRAM dump of the stock ROM then the Flash tool to copy the ROM to my old phone. The strange thing is that the phone remembered the correct IMEI and SN numbers. I now have two fully working V987's!

Hello! I have a question! How did you complete step 2? I still have my V987 bricked and I can't seem to find an appropriate preloader.bin to wake it up again. I know I'm not exactly helping you, but I would be so grateful if you can help me out with that! I have less than 5 hours with this new ZTE and I already messed it up

[Completed] am I victim of IMEI spoofing ?

Hello everyone.
Sorry if my questions are silly, I'm quite new here... and I need some explanations.
I bought a phone ( reconditioned, on PriceMinister) that I'm having some trouble with.
The main issue is that IMEI (MEID) written on the back of the phone does not match the one shown when i dial *#06#. Still, the S/N is the same.
Also the model written on the back ( SM-G920F ) does not match the one when I enter Odin mode, ( SM-G920P)
1) Is it safe to name my IMEI N° here or elsewere on the net ?
2) Is it possible that I changed this IMEI myself, being unaware of what I was doing while flashing TWRP, or some ROM that I randomly tried ??
3) What tools can I use in order to know what is really the model of my phone ( TWRP SM-G920F alias zerolfte does not work, but zerofltespr does. Still the Pi3 ROM works when I state the model being SM-920F !)
Thank you for your suggestions.

So guys there is any way to restore it? or any luck to writes my IMEI from my old phone?
Nvram formated
I have the same problem because I deleted the NVRAM and unfortunately I did not make a backup. then I try to fix the problem using Miracle box by untroducing imei 1 and 2. the network has been restored but there is always a conflict from time to time the network disappears. 4G does not work and when I use 3G the SIM 2 loses the network, the MEID and always 0000 ....

If you have rooted your phone, GhostPhone app is working perfect and keeps all numbers without need to restore them manually on every update or changed mobile network settings(the last oftendeletes IMEI on many MTK 6xxx phones). If no root access - use MauiMeta to flash them from PC, it is not hard for use from unexpirienced people.
