Poetic Affinity Edge + case review - Galaxy S6 Edge+ Accessories

Firstly Poetic approached me on the forums and asked me if i would be willing to write a short review for their product, i was sent this case free of charge however my opinion will remain fair and unbiased.
Firstly I cant exactly take photos of the product as I only have the one phone however you can find product images at this link: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Affinity-Pr...8&qid=1448198500&sr=8-21&keywords=poetic+case
After using this product for a few weeks I now feel competent enough with the product to create an unbiased review.
The design of the product is what first caught my eye it is very nice and does not look cheap at all while still allowing the premium design of the edge to show through while at the same time providing very good protection. (I have not dropped my phone yet so i cannot comment much on protection.)
Secondly the value of the product in my opinion is very good, for the price you pay you get a very nice protective case that does not add too much bulk at all, it also has a small lip on the front of the screen that goes around the device to protect the screen while at the same time leaving the edge accessible and easy to use. I do not normally pay a lot for cases my previous case for this device was the ringke slim for around this price however this product is in my opinion much nicer looking with a much more attractive design with also possibly more drop protection.
Finally in value for money I believe that this product is quite high value for money, it is I believe cheaper than a lot of spigen cases while in my opinion still having a more attractive design and providing more drop protection, I honestly think this is a great case and I think I would be very satisfied even if I had bought the case, I will definetly be checking out more Poetic brand cases in the future and I believe it is certainly a brand to look out for especially for the future.

Cool looking case... looks like it doesn't ship to the US? If Poetic wants to send me one, I'd gladly do a review

HI mate i think if you go on the american amazon website then you can get it shipped to the us.. i would think so as mine came from the US

I don't see the need to start a new thread for the Poetic Affinity Case.
I have tested the Poetic Affinity Edge + case. I will say that the case is top notch. The price is well worth it.
A few things I like about the case:
1. The design is great. You csn see the beauty of the s6 Edge Pluse all around. The accent of black on the corners,,back, sides and the lip of the case. The lip is awesome because it protects the phone's screen all around if it's dropped (which I did and it bounced when the lip hit the ground). The phone was fine.
2. The durability and thickness of the case, but yet still slim.
3. The feel of the case in your hands. The sides has ridges so while you're holdin5 it or talking on the phone, it wont slide out of your hands. Good idea on that one Affinity!
4. The all around design of the case was well thought out and not rushed out to consumers.
The only downside I could find with the case isn't actually Affinity's fault. Being as the case that I chose to test was the clear one, you can see the fingerprints on the back of the device if you don't wipe it off properly before putting it into the case.
Other than that, great case. The only way I will switch cases is if I can find a decent extended battery case for the s6 Edge +.
Great work Affinity, and thank you for giving me the opportunity to test your product.
Everyone with a s6 Edge + get this case

I received this case a few days ago and first thing I said when I opened the package was "now that's slick looking!"
I really really like this case! Below is a picture of it next to my Ringke Fusion case. I like the Poetic Affinity better. Not that the Ringke case was bad, it's very nice. I just like the look and feel of the Poetic case better.
I noticed much tighter tolerances with the Poetic case which is great. I also prefer no dust covers where the plugs are located. The cushioned corners are a nice addition as well, and they aren't huge but still offer a bit of extra protection.
Love this case on my Edge+!

I also have the Poetic case. Does a decent enough job of protection but my how easily it marks. Obvious really, its made from mirror like polycarbonate plastics. Looks great when new. I also use a sock to protect the front glass as have yet to find a glass 9H screen saver.

For Spigen Or Otterbox S6 Edge Case review
For Galaxy S6 Edge Case, I think this one is better than Spigen or Otterbox and just only $4.99. Simple and clean cellphone cover against scratches to give your best protection, which decorate our phone with unique style - love it!
Search for ASIN 'B016BSC0RK' at amazon.com, and find your own phone style.

I just got my case in and I am very pleased. Was with the Otterbox since day 1 but man this case is awesome. Really thin,I got the full clear case, buttons are nice and clicky, the protection is great. Put my phone in and dropped it on my tile floors and it just bounced. The case is firmly wrapped around the phone which is nice

I'm not going to post any pictures since they've already been posted .
I've bought several cases including one from Samsung three from Spidgen and two Casemates.
I hated the Spidgen cases all of them seemed like they wanted to slip off from the edges. The Casemate are a decent case but didn't seem like they offered top protection for my very expensive S6Edge Plus.
This Affinity case is absolutely the slickest looking case that affords premium protection for my phone.
I hate bulky cases or cheap feeling cases but I'll tell you this the Poetic Affinity case is THE best case I've found and I highly recommend it. Buy it you won't be disappointed at all. Two thumbs-up indeed.

Looking for slim case

Hey guys I'm looking for a really slim case that isn't raised too much along the edges of the screen or cover too much of the sides of the device. A couple I'm looking at is the Obliq case, spigen capsule, spigen slim armor, or maybe the official Samsung protective case.
I have a tech 21 case now and it's ok but it's a bit bulky around the edges and kind of hides the shape of the phone.
I had the Tech21 case and currently have the Speigen Capsule and Samsung cases. The Tech21 was WAY too thick and bulky, and the buttons were hard to press. The Capsule is very thin, but has sharp edges IMO. I found it really uncomfortable to hold without it feeling like my hand may get cut (it never happened, but still hurt).
The Samsung case is awesome though. Fits beautifully and looks like it's a part of the phone. It protects really well too and hardly adds any thickness. I'd highly recommend it. It's worth the money 105%.

Yes, try Amazon.
Look up verus iron shield champagne gold galaxy note 4 review by real reviews on YouTube thy have a link in the description probably the best thin case for the note 4 in the link the have different colors also
Ringke Slim case is the slimmest one IMO by far at the expense of drop protection. The black one has a nice matte finish while the other colors are more glossy which I don't like.
It adds the least bulk and gives a bit of protection - I've dropped my phone onto hardwood floors a couple times from 3-4 feet. The case slightly deformed but the phone was perfect. However I expect any drop onto a hard surface like concrete will break the screen.
Like the previous post stated, the Ringke slim is super thin. The SF black has good grip.
I would go with the Samsung Protective cover though. a little thicker but you are drop protected and the case feels better in hand.
Ringke Slim 9.99
Samsung Protective Cover:
12.00 (Blue)
14.00 (Black)
15.00 (Red)
Thank you guys for the ideas. I really like how slim the ringke is but it makes me a little nervous. I think I'm torn between the Samsung protective case and the verus. Both look super nice although the Samsung appears to be a bit slimmer
I have a Verus Thor on mine, and I think it's pretty amazing for its slimness to protection ratio. Camera's protected, there's enough of a lip in front to protect the screen (I've got a tempered glass protector anyway), and if there's a con, it's that it fits so tight and snug that you don't want to take it off too often; I ended up buying a new dock just so I don't have to. Well, that, and it's not highly textured or rubbery, so it feels a little smoother in the hand than I see a lot of people liking. Fell out twice at work a few days ago--once onto concrete, once onto steel car wash railings--and it still looks pristine. I highly recommend it.

If by "thick enough that the camera isnt exposed," you mean that when you rest the phone on a table, the camera lens isnt resting directly on the flat surface, then yes. There is a lip around the camera lens that will keep it from touching any flat surface.
i want it too

Well after reading the comments from you guys I decided to pull the trigger on the blue Samsung protective cover. Seems like it offers good protection and a very slim form factor. I'll post some pics once it comes in the mail
That Samsung one looks nice. There is a great review on it from a guy named lawmanfj on youtube. I'll probably grab that one down the road. I just purchased the S-View case, and I really like it. It is a flip case, but it doesn't add much bulk. Seems like the drop protection might not be the best, but since it replaces your back battery cover, it's stay's slim. It does run about $26 through Amazon. I picked one up at Best Buy for a few bucks more, but got to try it out before purchasing.
You should post some pics when your case comes in, and give a review of it.
Does anyone know if there is a case like the Samsung Protective Cover, but replaces the battery door to make it slimmer? Basically i would like to find something with some protection around the edges, and a lip for the screen, but without adding to the thickness of the phone.

Recommendation for a very thin "rubber" slip on case for the Note 4?

I'm not a fan of bulky cases that add alot of girth to an already large phone. Also don't like silicone as it's too much friction going in and out of my pocket.
When I purchased my LG G3 at Best Buy I picked up their "house brand" most inexpensive case/condom for the phone and it is fantastic. Just thick enough to provide edge and corner protection from a mild fall but not so thick as to add alot of bulk to it. The G3 was also a very difficult phone to hold... almost too thin at the edges. This gave it a nice grippy edge to hold on to, but it wasn't silicone so it still slid in and out of my pocket.
Going to all the major retailers now is nothing but iphone iphone iphone and MAYBE a few S5 and S6 cases. Bestbuy, Target, Walmart, etc.
I have Amazon prime but this is something I'd like to see in person, maybe take out of the box before buying.
So any recommendations? Hope I have explained the type of case I'm looking for. I really don't want to ding up my new beautiful aluminum sides or god forbid shatter the glass. The edges are just a bit too slippery for my liking.
Thanks!
-Jon
I bought the Spigen Neo Hybrid case for around $14 on Amazon and I love it. It's thin and has a premium feel to it.

Looks like it is too late for my recommendation, but I really like the Samsung Protective Case made by Samsung:

I have the Diztronic case as well, and don't like it as much because it is slippery, has less protection, and doesn't look as good as the Samsung one.
I second this guy...
I have a Spigen Neo Hybrid, a Spigen tough armor and an orange UAG case.
out of all I found out how well made the Samsung protective case is, also the feel in hand is great, not bulky very durable and it does protect the phone very good.
it has become my daily favorite case.
I still use the UAG case from time to time for looks but still bulky.
and well the Spigen cases I only used them for a while.

in my country, bosnia, cases like this are 3$
I received my diztronic case today. Exactly what i was looking for. Only downside so far is it makes it very difficult to activate one handed mode. I actually use that feature daily.
I imagine any case will do this though. Thank you very much for the recommendation!

The first case I ordered was the Samsung OEM listed above. I used it for two weeks and decided to also order the Diztronic one I linked to. Between them, I use the Diztronic most of the time and actually like how it feels more than the Samsung one. But the Samsung is harder and does provide a little more protection.
I used this approach on my Note 2. Mask off your screen with masking tape. Apply 3 layers of electrical tape to al 4 corners of your device, neatly and evenly trimmed to act as "bumpers". Spray light even coats of Plastidip, 6 coats should do. If you don't like it or it becomes damaged you can peel it off. Apply your bumpers 1 layer at a time . Run a razor around the edge of the battery cover when dry, you can easily remove the battery cover whenever. Thinnest phone case you can imagine, and grippy. Minimal protection though

Yah I bought the Samsung OEM case in blue and I bought a Casology Bumper case in carbon Fiber. Both are superb but the samsung one is a bit thinner. Bot cases, though feel like you have the phone without a case. I like the corner bumpers as well on the Samsung Protective Case. It provides a very slim design without compromising protection.
Using black/grey version of Samsung's protective case. It is very good & slim. From back, the phone looks like Note 4 Active! Only thing I miss is a kickstand.

How is it when taking it out of your pocket? Is it smooth or is it like those silicone cases that are hard to take out? I recently got a Note 4 and I'm also looking for a case that's thin. Also, has anyone ever bought a S Pen from amazon or ebay and recommend it? I bought my Note 4 used and it didn't have the S Pen. Samsung website has them for $30 and it seems pretty expensive for a stylus.

Just get the stylus from Ebay. They have the original ones and theyre like 2 for $5 with rubber tips and everything. As for the Samsung Case, it provides decent protection and is very easy to take out of one's pocket. The silicon around the sides gives it grip but doesn't makenit clumsy to take out as the back is plastic and much more smooth.

I have no experience with this brand and it doesn't seem to be common in the USA, but looking at their site, they actually have a flip case for the 6P with SLEEP FUNCTION! Other than the grip-of-death folio case from google, I could not find any flip cases with the rare-as-unicorns sleep function. I almost gave up until I came across your post. Seriously, I was to the point where I was thinking of gutting a flip case to insert a magnet into it. Thank you!
I just ordered this and I hope I get it before christmas (for the misses):

It's not cheap, but it's still cheaper than the folio case and seems much better looking. I'll update when I get it. I think the maker is in Hong Kong so it'll take at least a week.

Here's few pictures that someone else took from Tetded leather case (without flipcover). Apparently it feels quite good (not slippery at all).
I remember the g3 community have alot of people buying the case. Tetded makes cases for most phones so the reviews are all over the place.
I purchased a folio case for my Nexus 6 from this company and was impressed with the quality. I ultimately didn't use it much as I decided that the minimal bulk of the case added to the already overly bulky phone made carrying it in my pocket uncomfortable. Oh, and the back of the case was thick enough (leather over a plastic case mold) that it prevented wireless charging on the 6 to work.
Most curious of the feel of the leather. nothing worse then cheap plasticy leather
^^^...that's a great point.
needless to say...curiosity got the better of me and i ordered one.
when it gets here...i'll post a review.
as i mentioned...the apple case for the 6 is pretty nice. it's actually ALL leather.
feels great and the phone sits well inside of it.
this one is actually leather seemingly wrapped around a plastic shell?
so, we'll see.
i think it might be a little bulky/thick for my tastes...
but, i'm willing to give it a shot.
in the meantime...my adopted protective case arrives later today.

look forward to the review!
The one for the 6, which looks exactly like this model for the 6P, is basically a ultra thin case (think Spigen Thin-Fit) with a leather skin. The leather, at least on the one for my 6, was impressive and felt nice. Very well finished and detailed. The case fit well and snapped onto the phone with authority, and was a precise fit.

that's exactly my point.
it's a fantastic case with seemingly quality leather and, like you mentioned, fits like a glove.
doesn't add much bulk, if any, it's perfectly grippy, looks fantastic, and seems like it could last a while.
makes me hope the tetded is half as well made and worth it.
we'll see.
too bad they don't have brown leather, just the garish colors. I've just about given up on slickwraps natural skins

the premium flipcover cases have the nicer brown leather (multi tone).
I have the black slim back leather case from tetded for my 6p. It feels great in hand and is not plastic feeling, it feels like a natural leather wallet texture. I wish it was smooth leather though, but its as close as I can find to be like the apple leather cases. It took a few weeks to get to me though because its coming from Hong Kong. My wife likes it as well and had me order a white one for her, so its on the way too. The inside of the case has a microfiber insert to protect from rubbing the finish of the phone off.
Overall I like it and the phone is way less slippery with this case. Also I'm using it with the intelliarmor HD glass screen protector and both work great together.
Hope this helps.

Unfortunately I cannot say about a flip case, as I have the one that only covers the back.
I don't like how it doesn't completely cover the edges on the top and bottom. I've had phones crack in those exact areas.
I just received the Dijon II case. It looks good, the cut-outs are fine, fits well, and you can easily remove it from the case. It does have a magnet to sleep/wakeup the screen BUT there are no magnets to keep the screen closed. The cover is not very light so it doesn't open by itself that easily.
They do make a Dijon III case that has a lip in the middle to keep the cover closed BUT there are no speakers holes like on the Dijon II, which makes it not possible to talk on the phone with the cover closed. If the Dijon III had those holes, I would get that version.
Time to wrap it up and put in under the tree...
Thinking of ordering one with flip.
But I'll await your reviews.
My question would be, does the flip stay closed when it should or does the flip stay half open when left on a table?

Thinking of ordering one with the flip.
But I'll await your reviews.
My question would be, does the flip stay closed when you leave it on a table? Or is it like half open?
And does it stay open when you like it to, or does it self- close?
Mine stays closed and the lid lays completely flat. There is no magnetic clasp however so the lid will flop around when in use and I normally flop it around back while using the phone where it also lays flat. The power on/off is flawless. Extra bonus if you are in a trusted location because you can simply open it and swipe straight into the gui. I'd rate the quality as acceptable for the price. Doesn't feel cheap but you're not going to going to be wowed. I haven't had too many cases of this type but for what it's worth it is easily the least bulky of the lot.
Greatest weakness would be poor drop protection for a case of this kind. The ends have only modest protection and the cover may open when dipped exposing the screen since there is nothing keeping it closed.
Overall it is about what I expected and I'm happy with the purchase. It looks and feels nice, offers half decent protection even if it does lag behind similar cases, the power function is nice.

Looking for recommendations for a case that provides good grip, slim, and drop protection. I know the speck case ma be good, but looking for other recommendations that are less expensive.
Thanks in advance!

I have the frost/black version of this one and love it: http://www.amazon.com/SUPCASE-Release-Unicorn-Premium-Protective/dp/B015X90VGK?th=0
It "feels" like a tank against drop protection, esp. when factoring for how fairly slim it is....and it would say its fairly grippy. Not overly, bit certainly enough to not make it feel like you are gonna drop it imho. I like how it lets some of the beauty of the device (or at least the Nexus logo and back) show through, and price ain't bad, either. Just my 2 cents!
Have you looked at Pilz Case comparison thread...
Yes but looking for some others opinions/recommendations.

agreed
Speck Grip Candy Shell is as wide as the Supcase hybrid, the back of the Speck is flat, just marginally thicker, but it feels really grippy and more secure than the Supcase in my opinion, doesn't wobble when using it while on the table. Actually have both, and prefer the Speck in every way.
Is $40 worth for the Speck case? The way I see it, the case will last as long as you own the phone, and Speck is pretty sturdy build case. Also there are very frequent 30% off coupons you can get if you sign up with the Speck website email promos.
But in no means does it mean that the Supcase is bad, great reviews and excellent price. Preference here is subjective.

I love supcase. Had speck and locked it. But the supcase seems to have more corner protection. Than the speck. So I returned the speck to keep the supcase
Evolutive Rhino Crash Guard... The best of the best, available 1/10.
The case with the best grip is the Speck Candyshell; no other case can come close in terms of grip. The Speck is the best overall case and isn't too thick at all. The slightly larger size does take some getting used to, but it's easy once you use it for a day. The SupCase is another good option, but it lacks the same grip as the Speck. The SupCase and Speck will both hold up to drops, but the Speck has an inner TPU layer with an outer poly carbonate shell which will likely provide better drop protection. The SupCase has held up to some bad drops in my experience just as the Speck, so it comes down to which one you like better and the price. I bought my Speck for $20 during Googles sale which was a steal. The case is still worth $40, but I can see how some people would be skeptical of spending they much on a case.
Poetic Affinity slim.
How about a skin from toastmade? It provides a good protection without adding bulk to the device.

I use a Spigen Rugged Armor and like this case a lot
Speck Candy Shell. Not to much bulk, protective, and very grippy. Excellent!

Had it on my previous phone (and currently have it on the 6p) and overall was very happy. I just wanted to offer my experience on a couple of things in that quote.
You mention discounts and that's very true. On my old phone, price was $35, but I bought it for $25. For my 6p, I bought it for $20 from the google store.
Second point is about how long the case will last. While it was fine for long time on my old phone, I did experience a couple problems towards the end of its life (and even earlier). It was the black one, and it picked up a lot of dirt and gunk around the little rubber grip bars on the back. By the end of it's life, a few of the grips had worn off on the back and part of the rubber surrounding the screen (the rim) had detached from the plastic and I had to superglue it back.

The supcase may be better at protection than speck, I don't know, I just wanted to share my experience that I had a speck on my old phone and dropped it on hard tile floor like 3 times from about waist height and neither the phone, nor case had a scratch. This happened at the beginning of the cases life and isn't related to the rubber bits coming off towards the end of the case's life that I described above.
Overall, I'm happy with my white speck case on my 6p, but i'm sort of bored of it and i'm in this thread looking for another case that is slim, offers proven protection, and ideally has a kickstand.
I'm a big fan of the Ringke Fusion quite honestly!

I am very happy with my nillkin nature tpu case. What i was looking for was :
- thin, clear (why cover up this beautiful phone?), thin, good grip, oh... And very thin

Me too, much better than I expected. I bought it as a cheap stop-gap until my 'rhino Crash Guard' gets here, but aside from a little yellowing (which I think all clear TPU's do), it's great.
I am surprised that nobody mentioned the Google Nexus case. I am very pleased with it, it's a snug fit, while the felt on the back give it nice texture and grip. As far as drop protection goes, I think it will be good enough for minor drops.

Diztronic Case

I just ordered the Diztronic case from Amazon. Not set to be released until Nov 4, but since my phone isn't set to ship until the 23-25, it should be here in plenty of time.
So far this looks like like the best option to me.
I've used their cases for past nexus phones and they've always done well. Some movement a year in but overall thin and protect it without being bulky

I tried several cases, this is definitely my favorite. Very grippy and the buttons are so easy to push.
Does this that a textured inside or the air pocket corners?

I got mine last week. Great case as usual.
Best and most elegant phone case I've ever had. Now where's my full coverage screen protector?
I order this on Amazon last Saturday and got it Tuesday. It's a temporary case until something thinner comes out, but I agree it's the best option. It's a nice case, it's TOO bulking and very grippy (but not too much where I can't slide it in my pocket. Great fit and I recommend anyone who likes a thin case who is waiting for a CaliCase to get this in the mean time!
Josh
Mines super slick should of waited for pixlee one. Love the buttons on it though. But someone just said the parallax case is only .5mm thicker than the maxboost so I may get that instead.
I got this case as well. I really dislike the raised side lip it has, it makes it feel more bulky than I prefer. If it didn't have that raised side lip I would love this case.

I've gone through the Sparin case from Amazon and three Google cases, the clear, the silicon and a Live case. The Diztronic blows them all away in terms of actual protection from a very minimal form factor. The Sparin is a nice case, especially for $10, but it feels pretty flimsy when compared to the Diztronic. I had a D case with my N6 and am not at all surprised that I've sifted through other cases to land back in D's corner. The only thing I would probably trade it for is a really nicely done leather case (looking at you, Bellroy).

They just posted some new cases too.. Full Matte with popping colors;

The Diztronic is too bulky??? I don't see how you'd possibly get a thinner TPU case. It'd be so thin it'd be useless, or you're approaching sticker protection.
I have the Diztronic and the similar Spigen Armor (no plastic, just TPU) and the Spigen's sides are slightly thicker, presumably with their "air" protection, but otherwise the cases are very similar in feel. Spigen has more "design" to it, including the carbon spot (which I personally dislike) but otherwise both cases are very similar.

Some people don't want a case at all but want to protect against bumps, scratches for example https://9to5toys.com/2014/10/29/thinnest-iphone-6-plus-cases-prevent-camera-wobble/

I posted on another thread about wanting something that doesn't protect against impact, just scuffs to the sides and back. I want something similar to The Veil by Caudable that is ultra thin.
So is it too grippy or slick..I've seen both comments. Also do the matte and pixlee ones feel the same
I just received my diztronic case. As usual it is top quality. I used them on my Nexus 5X, and to be honest, for quality non hardshell cases that are out soon after phone releases...they really are worth the money.
edit responses:
Q.) So is it too grippy or slick..I've seen both comments. Also do the matte and pixlee ones feel the same
A.) Honestly...Its pretty well balanced. I personally like it a BIT more grippy, but my experience with diztronic cases, is that the longer you ahve them your hand wears down the matte a TINY bit(not enough to SEE) and it becomes perfectly grippy.
Q.) Does this that a textured inside or the air pocket corners?
A.) no.
Will edit this post with any other questions about the case.
Just received my black pixlee case and it's my first Diztronic case and I love it! It's so minimal and classy.

I do not have any way to take pictures of it on the phone, but I do have my Nexus 5x, which fits exactly the same. To the point that when I reach into my bag to grab one,i don't realize which one I am holding for a good amount of time.
My favorite feature about them is the buttons though. It gives them this perfect tactile clicky feel that you don't get with anything else.
These are great cases. Just ordered my second one (different color)
