Problems updating X920D with OTA - HTC Butterfly

Hello guys. Today, I received OTA update to my HTC Butterfly X920D but I'm unable to install it. When I tap on Install, device just reboots. It should get into recovery mode and install but as I have TWRP installed, maybe that's a reason. Device is ROOTed, S-ON and I have custom recovery installed (TWRP). Can you help me fix this issue?
Thanks in advance.

You cant get OTA updates on a rooted device from OEM i think. This must be something else , dont have any idea tho.

ota update - aborts

Hi,
I recieved an ota-update for my stock DesireS-ROM, rooted and clockwork-recovery - but it fails to instal.
"Do you want to instal?" > "yes" > reboot > android screen with the call sign > battery pull
Tried to flash via recovery: aborted/failed
I've no idea....
Is this an original update from htc?
I've heard if you modded you rom and try to install such an update, it wont work.
Dont know if this is true.

I fear the the clockworkmod crashes the update..

radio.img

and other stuff...
I will upload - perhaps someone could repack it without the "bad things"

But i'm alse s-off'ed with xtc clip and rooted, so can't install it.

I've got it successfully and my DesireS is s-off'ed and rooted.
I bought DesireS Simfree.ver from UK.
But... This is changed from Europian Version to MiddleEastern and African Version

So, you had it S-OFF'ed and rooted, and still have it after upgrade?
I think I have to downgrade from clockword recovery to original one and retry it...

No.
I use only xtc-crip to S-off and only Gingerbreak1.2 to get root.
And what I use superuser permission is only to add Japanese fonts to DesireS
Anyone have a link to download this update offline? then check it or extract it

[Q] Lock Bootloader again

Hi,
how can i relock the Bootloader from the Mate 7?
Is it possible? I want to sell it and it would be nice if the new owner can do OTAs.

You need recovery compatible with rom came from..
For example ; if u are on 127 and u wanna go back to 120 u need to flash 120 recovery first .. then flash 120 ROM
Do I need stock recovery to CHECK if updates are available?

Well, you can manually check it will pops up once huawei sends OTA ..
u can have CWM but u wont be able to upgrade.. you will need stock recovery for update OTA..
to be honest custom recovery is technically useless for us bcos no custom roms are avail. it just good for rooting.. nothing else..
System knows when phone has been rooted ... here below

Thanks for the information (and pic). Will flash stock recovery back only when/if there are updates.
CWR will be useful if we (like me) do something stupid and then restoring from backup.

[Q] ROM Update on CWM recovery

I have the MT7 TL10 international. The phone is rooted, BL unlocked and CWM installed. Today I received notification that an OTA update on B123 is available. I think I've read somewhere that the update will not work with CWM so I have to go back to stock recovery. I know how to do that but I just want to confirm with you experts whether or not IT is needed.
And in case I go back to stock recovery, do I just have to flash CWM again after the ROM update and it's all good again?
Thanks in advance for your feedback-much appreciated

Dear Simona,
thank's for your reply. If I get you correctly IT is needed to go back to stock recovery before flashing the OTA update.
But what about my second question. If I flash CWM after the ROM update, will the phone still be rooted, BL unlocked, CWM recovery and SU installed?
My apologies if this is a silly question, but I'm not an Android expert - just an user....

Updating Question

It says here that I cannot update if I rooted my phone,
Is there any way that I can update my phone with this new update, and not having any issues at all.
Kindly see attached file, I freaked out when I read this.
Sorry to trouble you guys, I'm just a newbie with this kind of rooting thing, seeking out help. Thanks
Up.. Please I need your help, I just want to know if it is safe or not. Or if there's any workaround with this one.
Thanks
If you have a root, do not try to update on usual way - can damage your phone!

If you have root on your device then that is the problem, I am not sure if s-off can interfere with that as well

Yes I also don't remember a nougat update for this device.
OTA 1.56.401.81 536 mb is only a security update for europe not a Nougat update.

I hope you are right.
Press volume up and power to reveal stock recovery menu and you'll be able to see the exact error. There is probably one of your /system file giving a "unexpected content" error when compared to the updater-script expected sha-1 value. Or some file might be missing and giving the "no such file" error.
Btw you'll all know when an update will bring nougat just by looking at the version number. Nougat should start with 2 i.e. 2.xx.401.xx. That's what HTC did for all other phone, incrementing by 1 the first digit of the version number each time there is a major android version update.
Have experienced the same error.
Did you solve your problem meanwhile?

i'm downloading the ota right now! if everythings goes well i let you know :good:
Please save the OTA file before installing it! So somebody can provide the file as a download at androidfilehost. That would be great for manual installation and those who haven't got enough mobile data to download directly.
Thanks allot

Sorry i forgot to save the OTA but i found a soloution!
After i try everything like extrat recovery stock from last ota and relock bootloader i did not to fix it! but for the last time i flashed RUU.zip from sd card and then try to install OTA and this time everything works perfectly and update to 1.56.401.81
I could upload the OTA file if someone tolds me where to upload.
Does anyone know when we get an RUU file for 1.56.401.81?
I would like to install this update without going complete to stock just to update and then reinstall TWRP, Root and so on.
And does someone know if it would be possitble to recover the saved nandroid backup from 401.70 after updating with OTA to 401.81?
