For all you GEM-702L users who flashed a 703L ROM on your 702L and SIM card switching no longer worked as well as the incorrect information being displayed in About Phone, here is a fix. Flash this in TWRP if you're already on a 703L ROM. If you are flashing a new ROM, install the ROM first then let it boot and complete the setup. Once you get to your Home Screen, reboot into TWRP and install the zip. Thanks to kpcheang2 for the very helpful information. Through trial and error he has tested this method out and confirmed it working.

I extracted the cust folder from the stock 702L ROM and everything that was there I included in my flashable cust zip. I did a few slight modifications to get it to display the correct build number and phone model etc... There are a lot less items in the 702L cust folder than there is in the 703L cust folder.

Supposing I upgrade to B110 or future 703 ROM builds, all I need to do is change the 2 "local.prop" buildinfo strings to whatever I want it to show - correct ?

In there yes, and also the build.prop has to match as well. Can you try just changing the last number of the build on your 702L doing those things and let me know if it works.

Tonight I'm gonna give you guys a flashable cust.img file to flash the cust folder from the stock 702L ROM that will keep the 703L cust folder intact and simply add the 702L cust folder without deleting the 703L one. Then we can see if that works better. I don't have my 702L yet so I'm doing this without owning the device. I'll post the link here and in my MOD thread in Android Development.
This will flash the stock 702L cust folder without erasing your current cust folder. Let me know how this works for you.

After flashing the cust.img from my stock 702L B003 ROM, my "/data/cust/xml" is still intact.
However there is no "multiwindow_whitelist_apps.xml" file in mine.

What is the best way to change it without inadvertently changing the underlying file permission in place ?
I noticed my "/system/build.prop" is showing build "B106" which was the one I flashed before applying the cust.img from B003. Whereas my "local.prop" in /cust/hw/seas/prop and /cust/hw/spcseas/prop is showing build B109 which is probably remnants of applying your "GEM-702L CUST". Other than the above my 702L is working fine.

Yeah. You can rename the ro.build.display.id line in your build.prop to say the exact thing your local.prop says. Then after you reboot in About Phone it should say you're on B109. Yeah, that was what I did in the cust zip, I changed it to read 702LV100R001C233B109 but since you are already running a previous ROM your build.prop was still the older one. If I can get out a flashable zip when I get my 702L it will already have all these changes for your 702L so that you can simply flash it and be done.

Actually the "About Phone" is showing build B109 already despite my "build.prop" stating B106. So it seems to be following the "local.prop" from the /cust folder ? Because my previous build was B106 before applying cust.img
Anyway I'll experiment a bit.

Yeah, I've been doing the same with my 703L and I'm starting to understand things a little better and with your help of course. Let me know which cust zip is the one that works. The one that removes the current cust folder or the Beta that just adds the 702L cust folder to the existing one.

Flash the stock B109 cust.img in fastboot, or I can make you a flashable zip that will remove yours and flash back the stock B109 cust folder. Then flash Ultra Slim KangVIP. Then flash my beta Cust 702L zip file in TWRP. That should get your cust folder working right. You can dirty flash all these and not have to set up everything again.

You will have to look in the updater-script in META-INF/com/google/android. If the updater-script has thecommands to erase and format data then yes it will. But if it does not it will not remove your data.

If you extracted the Rom.zip from the RUU then if I remember right that is just the system.img in the zip or the system.img and boot.img in it. You will have to put the Rom.zip in a kitchen and let the kitchen convert the system.img into a system folder and also let it generate the META-INF folder. Or just place the boot.img with a META-INF from a Sense ROM an then package the three into a zip. The META-INF is in the zip file you download for a ROM or the zip file the kitchen makes when you build the ROM.

I am using dr.ketan's L15 rom which is based on leaked lollipop rom for n900
Steps i do is:
1- flash your zip in TWRP then i got bootloop
2-replaced samsungsans.apk with stock one in order to get back from bootloop (permission changed accordingly) again bootloop
3- replaced samsungsans.apk with yours and changed permissions and the same result again...
Oooooooooo i think i found the problem just now, i found out that the rom is odexed so in system/app/sasmungsans folder there is another folder called arm in which there is samsungsans.odex.xz, so in this case i have to remove whole samsungsans folder in system/app cooy paste your apk and aet correct permissions... i will give it a try and will report.

Right !
You may recover any system apps by extracting and mounting « system.ext4 » linux file system from flashable zip firmware.
This zip is a pure stock firmware with no extra stuff added! Only the boot.img is bumped and the modem is hybrid(v30 + v20 to make bump compatible).
Features:
Added from the stock v30 base:
system.img
modem.img - hybrid one(contains v30 + v20 stuff)
boot.img - bumped
rpm.img
tz.img
cust.img
selinux is permissive
How to install:
Wipe system, data, cache, dalvik cache for a clean install.
Flash D850_V30_Bumped.zip
For root:
SuperSU - flash BETA-SuperSU-v2.52.zip.(No SafetyNet pass).
MagiskSU - get it from the official magisk thread.(Passes SafetyNet).
Reboot
Downloads:
v30A [2017-02-09] - Click here to download (MD5: 95ff1dd2e38439e2dea3c46f4a49c3ee)
BETA-SuperSU-v2.52.zip - Click here to download
SharpeningMOD fix - Click here for thread
Mirrors are welcome because this is most probably the first and the last firmware that will come to the D850. It will be good if someone share a picture of about-phone that shows the software info
Modems:
v30A + v20A - Click here to download
v20A - Click here to download
Q&A:
What's different in the hybrid modem?
Check this post - click here
How is this different to other MM stock rom's out there?
This not an extracted system.img rom like others. It contains extracted .kdz files and just flashes them. Permissive selinux is included, alongsite 3 build.prop changes to make for better compatibility(this is an D850PR kdz). Nothing else, no tweaks, no other stuff added.
What does [2017-02-09] mean?
That's build date of the kdz(can be checked in build.prop, kernel build date...)
These are the build.prop changes:
Code:
ro.build.target_country=[B]COM[/B]/ro.build.target_country=[B]US[/B]
telephony.lteOnCdmaDevice=[B]0[/B]/telephony.lteOnCdmaDevice=[B]1[/B]
ro.product.locale=en-[B]GB[/B]/ro.product.locale=en-[B]US[/B]
Thanks man! Great work!
Noob Question: I am on Stock KitKat ROM with KitKat Modem. To upgrade into this, do I also need to flash the hybrid modems as well, then flash this ROM? Or the MM ROM already has the modem on it, and do I just need to flash the ROM?

The modem is already included in the full zip. I don't think you will have any problem. Most partitions from kdz are already included, so it should work fine. If not you must update to LP but that's only if this doesn't work.

Try to download my rom which is the same for d850. And check the permissions folder. U will find the difference in size. I can't remember which exact file is for theme (it can be com.lge.permissions.xml but i'm not 100% sure)...
