Hey guys,
since there isn't a standalone tutorial on how to flash Android 6.0 either on the Moto X Style XT1572, I will provide one.
WARNING! I am not responsible for any harm on your phone. When you're not sure if you can do it, leave it! Use the Brazilian version ONLY on phones which use US-modems! If there is anything wrong or not working, contact me!
Prerequesites:
Make sure you have backuped your internal storage and your apps, because they will delete during the fastboot flash process
Decide which version you need: Indian or Brazilian? You only should download and use the stock rom of one of them!
Install ADB and Fastboot on your PC using Minimal ADB or Android SDK
Install all ADB and Fastboot drivers, for example with Universal ADB driver
Download the files provided in the link section
Steps:
At first, extract the ADB and Fastboot files in a new folder of your choice. After that, extract the 5.1.1 stock rom and copy the boot_root.img and the TWRP image in the same directory and make sure, that there are NO subfolders
Open a command line in the new directory
Now reboot your phone into Bootloader Mode. You can do that by typing "adb reboot bootloader" in an adb command line or by turning it of and then holding the Volume down + power button
Now the funny part begins. Open a command window in the directory where you extracted ADB/Fastboot and the 5.1.1 stock rom to. Now use this commands in this order:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.0
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.1
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.2
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.3
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.4
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.5
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.6
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.7
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.8
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.9
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.10
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot reboot
Setup your device. After that make sure you can open the internal storage on your PC. Copy the Marshmallow patch and the SuperSU file on the internal storage of your Moto
Boot into recovery by rebooting into bootloader mode and then selecting the "Restart Recovery" option with the volume rockers followed by pressing the powerbutton
When the text "No command" is shown, press at first the power button and then volume up. Now apply the patch by selecting it after ticking the option "Install update from SDCard" in the recovery and wait till it finished. Reboot your device afterwards
Reboot again into bootloader mode. Now install the bootloader from 5.1.1 by typing "fastboot flash bootloader bootloader.img". We need this to make TWRP work again.
Type "fastboot flash recovery name_of_the_TWRP_image.img" to flash TWRP
Still in the bootloader mode, type "fastboot flash boot boot_root.img", in order to get root working
Boot into recovery mode and flash the SuperSU file. Afterwards reboot into system
That's it! You now have MM on your Style.
Thanks to:
patt2k for the mirrors for the Indian stock rom
gmillz for having the idea with stock 5.1.1
sathishtony for the fastboots commands to flash the stock rom

Followed all steps till now, works fine, i am on indian 5.1.1 now- BUT i can't get to recovery *-*
When i choose to get to the recovery I only get the green Android-mascot and "No command."
What now?
Thanks!
/okay, embarassing. You could add that to your how-to for idiots like me.
When seeing "no command" hold down the power button and press volume up once --> Voila, the recovery options show up.

Normally I should only thank gmillz because after he said he flashed 5.1.1 stock Rom I was the first one who tried it and got it working. Am I right?

I was unaware you had done anything to be honest I just hit the Indian firmware and flashed the OTA as soon as I got in from work My point was there are several people responsible for this success and you only named a few

Yeah I know what you mean, but the other members contributed to make it working on the XT1575 Pure Edition, so it was unnecessary for my tutorial.
@alex1301 Could you do the same for Brazilian Moto X Style (XT1572 dual sim)? I got my OTA file here: https://mega.nz/#F!rElFjZqJ!Vcx1gA-48Pqx0EMOwZ6A1Q
If you need, I also have the stock firmware.

Yeah send me also the link for the stock firmware and I will modify the thread. Normally, you have to do the same steps for the Brazilian version like for the European one.

Great! Just give me some time (about 50 minutes) I'm uploading the firmware to Mega.
---------- Post added at 11:04 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:57 AM ----------
A question, can I use my stock 5.1.1 instead the Indian version? Because the Indian modems do not work here in Brazil, only the US modems do.

After seeing the article:"[INFO] Nexus 5 OTA Help-Desk", I did the following things:
1. downloaded the ota.zip from the article above, and copied it to the / of Nexus5.
2. restart to Recovery mode(TWRP), click "Install", and select the zip
3. Failed, It said that
"E:Error executing updater binary in zip '/sdcard/c1a33......zip'
Error flashing zip '/sdcard/c1a33......zip'"
Did anyone else met this problem? When update from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4, I did it in the same way, anything different?
Can you elaborate what the "blablalba" is? Odds are you have made some modifications to /system and that's what's causing it, but without knowing what that error is, it's kinda difficult to say for sure.

Do you mean that I should return to stock? According to the article "http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/tutorial-how-to-flash-factory-image-t2513701", it will erase all my data.
Is there any method to update to 5.0 without my data erased?

I have just update TWRP to 2.8.1.0, the newest.
Did the update need more than 1G stroage left ? I have only 900M left.

Flash the stock recovery from previous system image and then download the zip file,(what you are mentioning is the factory images) from here and then flash without loosing data as a normal android update.

If you have any other factory images with you, let it be anything like 4.4.4 or .4.42 or anything, unzip the image-hammerhead-xxxxx.zip and you will find a recovery.img file.
flash this recovery like you flashed twrp
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
and you will get the stock recovery boot into that and you will see, "apply update from adb"
choose that option and then when asked use adb to push the update.zip into the phone.

You can still boot into a custom recovery via fastboot... but what does that have to do with what we're talking about? I'm confused...Are you suggesting he try that instead of actually flashing it?

I extract the recovery.img from KTU84P's factory image(Which is my current version), and then:
1. hold down Volume down + power, until I saw the bootloader.
2. connect my phone to PC
3. input "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img", and saw:
sending 'recovery' (9284 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.510s]
writing 'recovery'...
OKAY [ 0.800s]
finished. total time: 1.330s
4. then goto "Recovery mode"
Then, I saw the robot dead, with a red ! on him.....
================================
Oh I knew that, it is the stock recovery , I can use volume up to select ..... Thanks

That's the stock recovery. Press and hold power and press volume up to get the menu and then select 'apply update via sideload' (or whatever it says) and go from there. There are guides on how to do this on here already so I'm not going to list it all
Before i begin, i would like to state that none of the files belong to me, they have been uploaded or provided by someone or other over the internet and i have given credit wherever it is due. If i forget somewhere and please lemme know, I'll fix it.
Note: This is tested only on Moto X Play XT1562 Indian version only. Others use this guide at their own risk. Currently Calls/Data do not work in X1562 as you loose the modem files on upgrade and flashing them back has no effect
First, Lets download the stuff we need at hand:
1) Stock Brasilian Firmware drive.google.com/open?id=0Bx1aljTBgTbATE9ISmNYZ3h2UGs From Yuri Martins @ androidpit.com
2) The Marshmallow update. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-MLCAZmmekxb2hOa3ppWTBFRjQ from estanenmi @ XDA
Steps:
1)Now Reboot in fastboot mode by turning off phone and turning it on by holding volume down and power button. Connect to PC, open the command prompt in ADM folder by using shift+right click on ADB folder and selecting open command prompt option.
2)Copy past all the line below as it is in the command prompt. Sit back and relax. It will take around 5 minutes.
Code:
fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader.img
fastboot flash logo logo.bin
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.0
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.1
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.2
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.3
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.4
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.5
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.6
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.7
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.8
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot reboot
3) Restart the phone, it will have Brasilian firmware. Go through the initial set up and connect to PC to copy the marshmallow update file in phone directory.
4) Again restart the bootloader of phone by turning it off and turning on by holding the volume down and power button. Here select the recovery option. It will show a dead android pic, press power button and quickly tap volume up. You will be in the stock recovery. There select the install update from SD card option. Select the update file and install. Beware it will take a lot of time and it would appear stuck at patching or verifying files (can't remember which one ) but dont worry, its normal. Once it is done, restart the phone and enjoy the yummy marshmallow.
P.S: Sorry if i missed any instructions, i know the community here will help out others. I was in a bit of hurry, getting very late for bed, will add more instructions and pics tomorrow.
Adios

flash original brazilian firmware with rsd lite then update via stock recovery to marshmallow.
you doesnt need unlocked bootloader
Unable to get the sim to work in Marshmallow for Indian Moto X Play. Here are my findings. Could be useful for the tinkerers .
1) Install Indian ROM>Brasil ROM(no Sim)> Marshmallow (No Sim.)>Flash Indian modem = No Sim
2) Install Indian ROM> Brasil ROM without Brasil Modems (Sim works)> Marshmallow (No Sim)> Flash Indian modem = No Sim
3) Install Indian ROM>Brasil ROM> Flash Indian modem = No Sim
OK, so from everything I have read, this does NOT work correctly with the XT1562, in that modems do not work with this method, and thus no data or calls/sms. Should this not be given a big massive warning in the first post?

Anyway think twice before upgrading with this method because usually on motorola phones you can't simply downgrade the firmware, many users in other forum sections faced some soft or even hard bricks trying to downgrade ( mainly bootloader and/or gpt )
Great, thanks. Ive been burned before a few times and left with expensive paperweights for phones from not reading all the comments and blindly updating. I make sure I know what Im heading into before flashing!
So... is anybody able to use his/her sim in europe (germany etc.) with this (brazilian) firmware with or without flashing the modem ?

It works perfectly. I was able to flash lastest Nougat update over 1st Soak Test. It's completely not necessary to downgrade to MM and unlock bootloader.
How is this working???
Between 1st soak and final OTA, 2 more soak test builds came i heard. How is this process working for you. please help explain!!!
arunzone said:
Many of us has already installed the first soak test and now have problems while update to latest version. This tutorial is for those who don't want to unlock their bootloader.
This process can take roughly 20-30 minutes so please be patient.
This Flashable zip can install over Soak Test ROM or MM.
You Don't have to unlock your bootloader or downgrade to MM and data will not be deleted.
Prerequisties:
RDSLite
Firmware
Procedure:
Download the program and install.
Download and unpack the firmware.
Run the program.
Click on the button with three dots and select flashall.xml.
Reboot your phone into fastboot mode [press the volume down + power button]
Connect your phone to a PC. The program should detect the phone.
Press the Start button and wait until the end of the firmware until the phone restarts.
As a precaution, enable OEM Unlocking under developer options. If anything goes wrong you can still unlock your bootloader and install custom firmware.
Also take backup of your important data.
I am not responsible if you brick your device.
Tested on my XT1643 with unlocked bootloader with soak 1.

New update for Moto G4/4+ started rolling (NPJS25.93-14-8). It has 56MB and it contains the 1st June 2017 security patch.
You can download it from here and install it by flashing it from SD card or sideloading it.

thanks a lot, here in my country barely i received nougat.
Would it make any issue if I have my device with a different kernel than the stock one? For rooting it I had to flash Elemental-X kernel (Moto G4 Plus).
Thanks.

For flashing the OTA, you must flash to stock Nougat rom (including kernel), otherwise the phone will enter in bootloop. After you install the OTA, you can flash the EX kernel and root it again.
A few other things to note about this update:
Looks to require NPJS25.93-14-4 (the March 2017 v7.0 update) to install from (that fastboot update is here if you need it: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/stock-rom-npjs25-93-14-4-march-1-t3608138 )
Bootloader updated to B1.06 (March 2017 had B1.05) - I imagine this fixes the critical security vulnerability as noted in the May 2017 security update (CVE-2016-10277 https://source.android.com/security/bulletin/2017-05-01#eop-in-motorola-bootloader ) EDIT - it seems that once this patch is flashed, downgrading your device (especially when flashing the GPT/bootloader from an older stock ROM) may well risk bricking your device! This brick may also occur if you downgrade from this build without flashing GPT/bootloader and then install an OTA. Be aware.
Boot animation now has 'Motorola, a Lenovo company' at the bottom (not sure if that was there previously) when the logo flips from Lenovo to the M symbol.
IMEI SV seems to be changed to 9 (think it used to be 8).
New logo seems to appear when charging with the device off (before the battery gauge appears)?
Also, if your OTA download is in your Download folder, when you're in stock recovery, I had issues trying to 'apply update via SD card'. Seems that 'mount /system' allowed me to navigate to the Download directory (don't know if that applies to everyone).
I was previously rooted on the March update with magisk v13 and ElementalX. I attempted to revert back to stock by:
Booting back into TWRP
Using the magisk uninstaller (https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445)
Reboot to bootloader
Then using the following commands in adb to flash a stock NPJS25.93-14-4 boot and recovery image.
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
However, upon trying to flash the OTA in the stock recovery, I encountered an error 7 (I think it was failing to load or verify system).
Flashing the following partitions from the NPJS25.93-14-4 stock ROM allowed me to flash the OTA in the stock recovery without erasing my data (bear in mind I was already fully updated to NPJS25.93-14-4 before rooting. I've also got a TWRP backup and Titanium backups to fall back to.) This should not affect your data, but ensure you have your data backed up regardless (always good practice when flashing anything that touches your system). I am not sure if all these partitions are required to flash the OTA if you were previously rooted. As always, if you're using these commands to roll back to stock from a rooted stock system, be prepared to factory reset if your system is not stable.
Code:
fastboot flash logo logo.bin
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash dsp adspso.bin
fastboot flash oem oem.img

Guys, tired of waiting for Nougat update on my Moto X Pure I took a route and never regretted. I converted my Pure edition to Style RETEU.en and went all the way to Nougat, without any hiccup.. Phone is as smooth as was with Marshmallow version. Below I will describe all the steps for successful update to Nougat. Skipping the details that we all know of. REMEMBER: You do at your own risk and I am not responsible for any of your mistake (Complete each step exactly. They are simple)
1. Get your bootloader unlocked as we will require it once, to take a nandroid backup for safety.
2. Install TWRP 3.1.1.0 to make a nandroid backup on phone.
3. Once backup is done copy it from phone to PC to make it safe. It will take some time as mine was 6GB in size.
4. Before rebooting into fastboot select "Do not install TWRP" in recovery.
5. Now using fastboot start flashing components from Official stock ROM of Motorola downloaded from dl.prazaar.de which is XT1572_CLARK_RETEU_6.0.1_MPHS24.107-58-5. This is Android Marshmallow base at 6.0.1. Not to flash components is boot, partition, Modem, fsk and recovery files. Make sure you flash rest of files including all the sparsechunks. Commands can ne found elsewhere on the forum.
6. Reboot into recovery and clear cache and userdata partitions. Reboot normal now.
7. Phone will start the setup like after factory reset. Just skip restoring your personal data by answering No to save time. But let it complete whatever else it do. Now "About phone" will say device is Moto X Style and build is MM 6.0.1 RETEU.en. This is just fine. Phone converted (No GSM signal is no worry at this time).
8. Try System Update. If update is available fine, otherwise we do it manually to take it to MPHS24.107-58-13 (required as Nougat pre-requisite).
9. Download Blur_Version.24.221.5.clark_reteu.reteu.en.EU from dl.prazaar.de. This is MPHS24.107-58-13 update. Copy it to root of Phone memory and reboot to recovery and pick Apply update from SDcard. The update will happen smoothly.
10. Again boot and skip Android setup. About phone will say your current build version.
11. Now download and copy Blur_Version.24.231.13.clark_reteu.reteu.en.EU from dl.prazaar.de into root directory of your phone.
12. Boot into recovery and choose Apply the file from SDCard. WOW this is Nougat update. It will successfully complete the update.
13 Download Last official Clark MM stock ROM from Motorola website and open the zip file to extract NON-HLOS.bin and fsk.mbn and flash it from fastboot in the standard way.
14. Go into recovery and clean cache and userdata partitions
15. Boot normally to be greeted by Nougat firsttime setup.
16. Congratulations. You have Nougat and Moto X Style.
No links to files?
You have not read it completely. I have mentioned download source which is dl.prazaar.de for all the files. Since each file is Stock ROM or blur version and greater than 1GB. What is the purpose to attach them here? The site is well know to carry Style firmware.

You can do backup with twrp and upload it for them.
Boot(before root)+system only.
Root is not required in my steps and TWRP not installed permanently (See my steps).
I know. I have xt1572, don't need.
For others you can do backup and upload it. All what they need: boot+system partitions.
For Backup & restore:
fastboot boot twrp.img
Anyone who want restore should do own backup and copy yours into the same folder.
Into twrp works MTP.
GOOD LUCK FOR ALL.
Out of curiosity... why go through this when its "easier" to just root and flash DU or LineageOS? Is the "stock" nougat running that much more smoothly? Its 7.0 with an old security path right? The latest versions of DU and Lineage are 7.1.2 and have up to date security patches.

Very simple. people like me don't want to loose Moto Action, Moto Display and Moto Voice. You loose all that in custom roms. I tried Lineage in my wife's Moto X 2014 a month ago. Frequent reboots, crash and reboot during video recording etc. This after several months of constant updates. Stock ROM do not have this type of issues. Atleast in the last decade not once any of my phone ever rebooted on its own. So I don't approve custom roms. If you don't mind, go ahead.

any possibility to flash custom recorvery/root on android 7? When im flashing recorvery via fastboot it says "permission deined"

I find this post a bit hard to read.
1). You are not really clear on exactly what to flash. You are close but not precise. If you are going to provide instruction like this you might need to be a bit more granular.
2). You mention the same file twice for both the pre-requisite patch and the nougat update. Are then both one in the same? This doesn't make sense.
I followed these instructions up to step #7. I flashed the following files:
logo.bin
BTFM.bin
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader.img
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.0
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.1

fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.8
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.9
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.10
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.11
I left out the following:
boot.img
fsg.mbn
gpt.bin
NON-HLOS.bin
recovery.img
My phone is showing Moto X Style however my build # is MPHS24.107-58-5 and not MM 6.0.1 RETEU.en
System version is reporting 24.221.5.clark_reteu.reteu.en.EU retus
