[Q] Help with Flashing Linkify fix to CleanRom 6? (Solved)

Yes, I'm a noob,to XDA, but I am pretty tech capable otherwise.
Yesterday, I unlocked the bootloader on my OneX, installed TWRP 2.3.x recovery, flashed CleanRom, ended up with a soft bricked the phone (still not sure what happened, but I think it was my stupid ancient work computer), tried to reinstall it, but the zip file was no longer in the SD card, tried to mount in recovery, but it was unsuccessful, tried to reinstall the 2.20 RUU, but it failed (all of these were probably B/C my work computer again). Gave up and came home. Got home to my modern PC, reformatted my SD, transferred Zips again and was finally able to get CleanROM to install correctly. All seems good, I setup the phone last night.
However, I have a problem with hyper-links that Scott has already acknowledged here:

I would have just asked this in that thread, but I don't have enough posts to write in Dev forums.
So, does anyone mind directing me to some basic instructions for 'flashing' the Link Fix Zip that Scott mentioned? I am assuming it is not the same method as installing the ROM.zip from TWRP, or is it?
After soft bricking yesterday, I'd really prefer some hand holding on this so that I don't mess up the successful CleanROM install.

[Q] Mishandled ROM Upgrade

I am relatively new at ROMs and I installed CyanogenMod 10 on my AT&T HTC One X (US) a couple of months ago. Recently, I tried upgrading to the M2 release of CM10.1 using the evita package which I understand is the US version of the ROM. I followed the same instructions I used to install 10.0 for 10.1. However, the installation froze and did nothing for a few minutes and gave me the message "no MD5 file found". I shut the phone down and restarted, but the phone would no longer start. I did a "system wipe" to get ride of the OS so I could re-install it, but now, my computer won't recognize my phone when I connect them and I can't move the CM10.1 zip file from my desktop to my phone. I have nothing already on the phone I can flash besides Team Win Recovery Project which is what I use for Recovery. I have no recovery files.
Did I just paperweight my phone, or is there a way to salvage this situation.

Yes. I can get into recovery and the screen that tells you the root status of the phone.

If you can get into recovery then you aren't bricked just yet! If you have an sd card reader on your computer or know somebody who does thats one way you could get a new rom on your phone to flash. Most recoveries have a way to let you connect your phone to your computer for file transfer while in recovery. I believe in TWRP the option is in the Mount are. I could be wrong though. You just need to figure out how to get a new Rom on your phone. If none of the above work, one trick that has always worked for me, would be to put your sd card into someone elses phone, and download a known working rom onto your sd card via theyre phone, and just put it back into your phone. I went into TWRP Mount and it allowed me to mount the phone. I went ahead and did that, but Windows told me that I had to format the disk. I agreed and Windows formatted it. Afterwards, I successfully copied over the CM10.1 Evita M2 zip file and the lates Gapps zip file. I then went to TWRP's install section and flashed both zips. TWRP told me both happened succesfully. However, while flashing over the CM10.1 file, it told me that no MD5 file was found and that it was just going to skip that. Then, it formatted some mke5 partition and then went ahead and finished. I wiped the Dalvik cache and the system Cache and restarted the phone. It is currently stuck at the "HTC Quietly Beautiful" intro screen and won't boot past that. Is there something I missed?

If that 10.1 already failed because of an MD5 problem, I wouldn't have tried to flash it again - the file probably has some problems in itself and either needs to be re-downloaded or just won't work.
Just flash the stock firmware or something - and use an MD5 checking program.

The thing is TWRP returned the status as successful despite missing the MD5 file. I'll try flashing over another package and if that doesn't work, I'll try flashing over CM10. If that still doesn't work, I'll just do stock firmware if I can find it somewhere, I guess.

In the future, making a backup is really awesome. Not saying that like "I told ya so" - but I've used them so many times myself, it's really great to say, "oops, I overlooked something" and then be able to just go back to a perfect snapshot of how things were before.
Also, how long did you let the phone sit at the boot screen ? It can hang for quite a while on the first boot.

Yeah I would just reflash a ROM that you've used before and that you know works. Chances are if the cm10.1 didn't work the first time its probably not going to the second time. And he has a point. First boot always takes forever. I've flashed a couple ROMs and thought I was bootlooped but I let it sit for a good 5-10 minutes and the setup screen finally came up.

I had no idea that it could take that long. I guess I'll just turn my phone on and see if it wants to start. I'll leave it going for a good five to ten minutes this time. Shutting the phone down while its still in the intro screen doesn't damage the OS, does it? Thanks for the advice so far guys, I really appreciate it.

K, now on to the issue:
This isn't my first rodeo. I'm not a dev, but I have a lot of experience with the Verizon S3. This is the second one I've owned, and I bought it off of craigslist. I'm starting to wonder if there's something wrong with the internal memory.
Stock recovery works perfectly, but both ClockworkMod and TWRP cannot mount anything -- cache, data, internal/external SD, etc.
My only computer is a MacBook Pro, and I have been using Odin 3.07 running inside a VMWare Fusion virtual machine running Windows 8.1. Luckily, Odin gets me back to stock every time, but I really need to get a custom recovery so I can get away from Touch Wiz.
I have tried 2 different versions of Casual as well as manually pushing everything through Odin.

It should work. Once latest version of casual is done try upgrading to latest version of whichever recovery you are gonna use. All the recoveries in casual are out of date and may just need to reflash recovery. Sounds like gonna use AOSP base so might as well stick with CWM as that is what you are going to end up with and what the AOSP devs support. While on TW can try upgrading it also as it the dev preferred recovery on TW. Shouldn't be the Mac if everything is actually unlocked, rooted and is flashing a recovery.

You must have a newer GS3, the newer devices (made within the past few months) have a higher revision internal card reader that breaks some recoveries. (I know because I flashed a sprint gs3 that had the same exact issue).
The fix for this is to have a recovery built with the fix in it, which is upstream in the cm-10.2 kernel, but not in any official recoveries yet.
Let me see if I can find the exact commit for you... I know invisiblek fixed it

I found another thread on here with a guy having the exact same issue. That thread combined with the above information about outdated recovery images guided me to my solution. Here's how simple it was:
1) Use Casual to root/unlock.
2) Download Flashify
3) Download most recent ClockworkMod Recovery image
4) Use Flashify to flash said image
I really hope this info helps someone else!

Note 3 N900A 5.0 Lollipop root problems! Help!!

First time posting on this site but I'm hoping you guys can help!
I have a Note 3 N900AUCUEOC2 5.0 Lollipop version.
My ultimate goal is to root my Note 3. Since in the past I have rooted my old phones and love it. But with the Note 3, specially the N900a 5.0 lollipop version, it seems hardest to get accurate root instructions for.*
After days of searching over many forums, I came to the conclusion that I need to flash my version (using Odin) Lollipop 5.0 OC2 back to Kitkat 4.4 NC2 and then from there I can use Towel Root to root my device and then upgrade to 5.0 again. So I thought..?
First of all, I backed up all my contacts and apps and everything using Easy Back Up. To my ext SD card an then I removed my ext SD card for safe keeping. Then I downloaded the required (working) Odin N900AUCUCNC2 files. Which was 4 separate files. I then put my phone into Odin Mode and connected to PC and ran Odin with the files selected. Everything went smooth, passed and my phone rebooted.. of course I was expecting a full factory reset with the new version. But when I check the version it says I'm still on 5.0??? And I even tried to fire up Towel Root and it won't even let me go to the site anymore and gives me a 404 error messege. All other sites seem to work tho.
Also to confuse things more, I turned off my phone and put my SD card back in to retrieve my back up and everything else on it. But... there's nothing there! It's complete wiped clean! Which doesn't make sense since I didn't have it inside my phone during the flashing progress.*
So now I basically flashed my phone for nothing and lost all my data in the process.*
I thought I was more computer savy than this but I guess this one stumped me and I could really use your guys help.*
Where did I go wrong and how can I fix it?

lol, you are a little confused maybe.
there is a search box at the top that is for finding your device form, put your phone model in there and it will help you find the right place to post.

Going back versions?
Ok, I'm pretty good on flashing ROMs and using TWRP. But I was thinking of trying a 5.1.1 Rom, I am rooted running just the stock Rom 6.01 currently. I have a SM-N900W8, so I assume I'll likely have to get the modem too depending on what ROM I choose.
My only concern is going backward, I don't know what kernel I might need to flash? Should be able to keep the answer simplistic in explanation, I just need the warnings and a basic checklist of what to do when going backward. And if I can complete this using just TWRP or whether I need to flash something with Odin or whether Flashfire might work.
Thanks in advance. Sorry I'm not a guy who has time to learn code. I try to donate if I'm going to use someone's work though. Just nice to have my phone run fast and smooth and be able to tinker...

Ok, if going back to a earlier version of Android, then flash the factory full ROM of that version through Odin, then flash custom ROM of same version. Got it, thanks. Sounds like the easiest way.

Stuck N915G
Am using a N915G , it was rooted with CW recovery , since yesterday it would go in restart loop , so i went into recovery and did a reset , still the loop would not go , so i took into a service center they tries kies and it would intall lollipop but half way through it will show " erasing " and then go back to boot loop , now at this point when i re checked the phone there is no CW recovery , so i tried Odin with Marshmallow to flash the system , it shows PASS but during installation " System updating .. erasing " then goes back to reboot so i flashed new set of Pit files , but still the phone stays in boot loop , vibrates then goes off to loop , what am i doing wrong

i mean; when i turn of the phone with normal shutdown menu, device power off normally.
But when i attempt to turn on device again, it won't turn on. nothing happens when i press or hold the power button.
only the way to turn on again, "plug a charge cable or usb cable"
after it detects the charge, and shows charging. after then i can turn on the device normal.
but, not possible to turn on without plug the cable once.
so; what can be my device's problem. (there is no another problem) except fast battery drain.
my opinion; humidity damage? or something like that.?
can any oxidation causes this problem?

Hello, I rooted my Samsung Galaxy Note Edge (N915T) Tmobile way back in 2014, I have since then forgot how to root again. I know that my phone is still rooted because I have SU.
My phone specs right now:
Bootloader: N915TUVU1ANJL
OS Version: KitKat 4.4.4
CPU: ARMv7-A (armeabi-v7a)
Kernel version: 3.10.0-2990579
I saw a post here in XDA about new Custom ROM (7.1.2 AOKP Nougat) and I would like to install custom ROM, and reading the instructions it states that it requires Bootloader 6.0.1 and Modem. I have no idea how to install bootloader and modem up to 6.0.1 on my phone. Kindly please guide me how to identify my current bootloader and how to upgrade up to 6.0.1. Thanks!

I am using Odin v3.12.7 and I tried to select (twrp-3.0.2-0-tbltetmo.img) from Odin, but is not selectable because it does not have (.md5) or (.tar), where can I find a TWRP in those file formats?

Corrupt microsdcard and otg devices
Hi,
This is about my note edge N915G and what will follow has strangely happened with every kind of rom for the device stock rooted, aokp, customized stock, and slimroms.
What happens is
scard shows as corrupted after busybox/magisk7viper mods I mean the card is fine when I install busy box and magical and viper then in stall viper drivers and it is still good but when I reboot to activate the viper mods my card shows as corruption. I another thing that happens is when the card shows as corrupt, I I can try another card and still shows corrupt and strangely even the devices I connect through otg all show as corrupt. Ii think it is busy box which is needed for viper that does it, but am not sure.
Another guess is that maybe some embedded file on the phone has been deleted or corrupted and that is causing me the trouble. I have installed the Enhanced rom this evening and had set it up with closed root and magical. I it was all fine. I then I installed busy box using smart install and after that opened viper fx 2.5 and viper xhi=fi and each prompted to install drivers and they installed successfully and advised a reboot. It is after reboot that I opened my music player and found no songs which was be aise it is showing my card as corrupt. I strangely even if I reverse the process and uninstall viper drivers then viper apps and finally busybox it still does not change the status of the card. It is either that I install the rom again dirty or restore a system backup that was made while there were no add ons.
I would really appreciate if anyone can help figure this out as I do have the workaround of restoring system but it is tedious as I have to install all apps etc.
I would like to reiterate that this is not the kind of issue associated with Samsung phones in general where they are said to kill microsdcards. This is not the case and the card works flawlessly in a different phone which I did to check. My laptop too has no issues with same card it is a Samsung evo 64 gb card I'm using. Maybe they key is that even other as cards whether I put them in the card slot or in a card reader for otg it shows any card I use as corrupt and even my otg drives show up as corrupt. I think it is something I have never seen happening yet.

Could you link me in the right direction to root my Samsung note edge from At&t 6.0.1 a list of procedures would be great, also a list of downloads. Anything & Everything I need on my phone or my Laptop to complete the process. All input would be appreciated. I just paid a large chunk of $ to Samsung to have my screen replaced and I am the original owner of my device which I paid a lot of money for in 2014, so I would hate to brick my device. Thanks
