Moto X 2015 Pure and Samsung Gear S2 - Samsung Gear S2

I currently use Sony Smartwatch 3 and Im planning to buy the Gear S2 and Im using moto x pure edition. Anyone got the same device with S2 paired on it? Hows your overall experience so far?
Im a bit concerned about the apps and notifications. Does it really show the notifications whenever it arrives on the phone? Im interested about the following app:
Whatsapp, Viber, Fb Messenger
I mainly use these app will it show notifications on the watch? Can I reply to these apps via watch?
Spotify
Can I press back or next & volume up and down just like I can with the Android Wear? Does it show the title of the song and the album art?
Phone Dialer
As we know Samsung is using their own dialer but in my case I have the AOSP dialer came default, if ever someone will call will I be able to swipe answer or reject from watch?
Calendar
As we know samsung has its own Calendar app, will I be notified with the Google Calendar showing the details and etc or the calendar reminder?
Textra
As we know samsung is using their own SMS app, but Im using Textra will or will the watch be able to detect that I got a message and I can read and reply via watch?
Gmail
As we know samsung is using their email app, will gmail be notified and the watch can detect that ita an email and Icam reply via watch?
I know there are other things that are not included here and if anyone can mention it please do.
Thanks!

I have a moto x pure edition as well, and haven't had any issues with notifications at all yet. Even in remote connection mode.
One thing to keep in mind, you can't put milk music on the watch since you don't have a Samsung phone.

Using frontier on a different android phone than Samsung ones

Reading some reviews only one I read recently pointed out that using gear s3 on a not Samsung android smartphone you cannot use s voice to perform text to speech in answering, for instance, SMS or mail or whatsapp, etc
Is it really true? That's a shame!!!
What else will I miss using a not Samsung android phone?
Tia
I have the Gear S3 Frontier paired with a OnePlus 3 and S Voice is working, I can answer and write messages by using my voice but I can't read my text messages or my emails, I just have a notification when it comes, and I can answer it that way, but there isn't a real application "messages" and "e-mail" as you may have with a Samsung device.
I'm trying to look for it.
That's OK. I mean, you can answer mail, SMS, chat (hangout, whatsapp) notifications using s voice.
But you can't read old sma, mails, chats, etc right?
I use android wear and apart from hangout where you have a dedicated app it's the same. That's OK for me.
I just need to be able to use voice to text to answer current notifications.
Anyone with a mate 9 can confirm it?

Google Calendar, Outlook Email, SMS and WhatsApp notifications

I'm trying to decide between the Urbane 2nd Edition and the Gear S3. I've considered the advantages of each watch and what I'll actually use the watch for. Notifications are my thing (I live by them) and I can't find any definitive info on how or if my S7 notifications will reach the watch. Would appreciate any feedback. My Q's are:
Google Calendar:
- do notifications arrive on the watch?
- if they do does it make the watch vibrate and/or turn the screen on?
- can you edit/amend details for a Calendar notifications?
- can you view the calendar and show specific days?
- can you scroll backwards (and forwards) in the Google Calendar app?
Outlook Email:
- can you make Outlook Email notifications show up on the watch?
WhatsApp & SMS
- do WhatsApp and SMS notification show up the watch?
- do they make the watch vibrate and/or turn the screen on?
- can you reply to them directly from the watch?
You can get notifications from other apps but get more functionality through the native Samsung apps. I have the Gear S3 and a Huawei watch. The Huawei being Androidwear let's you use any apps as your default. The Gear S3 does not. I'm hoping for root which may change that. In general I love my Gear S3 more especially since I bought a different band for it. I just miss being able to choose exactly what apps I want to use. I have found some work arounds for now that are keeping me happy. The Huawei is cool as it is customizable too. I have TWRP recovery on it and am running a custom rom. Also was able to load the new Android wear 2.0 in it. I have unlocked its bootloader. Overall I like both, just wish I had more access on the S3. BTW I have only briefly worn the Huawei since I got my S3 back around Thanksgiving.
I heard you won't get messages from email for instance if your phone isn't a Samsung one
The watch receive and vibrate for all the notification enabled on the phone, even the Google Calendar ones.
You can see the calendar items details.
You can't edit the calendar items and can't scrol backwards, but you can scroll forward (don't know for how many days, I think about one month).

IOS | Gear Manager | Email Notification not working

Hi, i installed the official Gear Manager SW on my 6s but except calls and SMS I do not see emails....tried many things like activate background app activity, app is running for sure, and so on., changed notification settings of emails....but til now its not possible. also the app itself does not have any parameter settings to select specific notifications......sad.
Any idea what could be wrong, if the question arises I have the watch S2 Sport with latest software not running in powersave mode.
Thanks for any help!!!! Norbert
I read that IOS not compatible with the Email. I see that in samsung official site.

not sure if there is a misunderstanding - i mean simply the notification of a new email.....and not a full app for emails. this i have read as well somewhere else that still no app for email on iOS systems.
My problem is with notifications...not a dedicated app to read emails.....
nobody else problems to get notifications of new emails on iOS? for me only SMS/Calls are notified.

If you mean the Mail App from IOS?! It won't work, because of Apple. Same like Android Wear.
All the other Mail Apps working for me.
GMX works! For Outlook and Gmail i'm using "myMail"
All the notifications are working on my Gear S2 Sport.
I mean that the official mail app on my iphone with GMAIL account and Exchange account does not notify my on my S2 Sport whenever a new email arrives....no notifications. My question if others have the same issue.....its strange as for example other 3rd party apps like ebay are able to notify.....so cannot believe mail app has problems.
It is working fine for me - iPhone 6s+ with iOS 10.2, iOS Mail App, Gear S2 Classic with latest firmware, and latest Samsung Gear app from the store. It was not working for a while, when I investigated why and I realized that when I tried Outlook mail I had disabled the notifications from the built in Mail app - enabled them for the accounts I want to see on the watch and it is working fine now.

Thx!!
I don't know why, but the Switch for notificationcenter for IOS Mail was off.
Now I get even notifications from IOS Mail App:
Working notifications (Gear S2 Sport R720XXU2EPK5 / Iphone 6S 10.2)
- SMS
- Mail
- GMX
- myMail
- Calender
- Whatsapp
- Facebook
- etc
Still hoping that we can relpy in near future

[Discovery][Guide] Android Wear App on phone boosts notifications on your Gear S3

Hey there,
as a user of both Gear S3 and LG Watch Urbane I've made a surprising discovery.
Namely, when you have Android Wear installed on your phone, some apps gets a functionality boost on your Gear S3
You can e.g. reply to Hangouts messages (via the notification) on the GearS3 directly from the smartwatch, using keyboard, smileys or voice input!!!
Without the AW app on your phone you could only click reply/show message in the GearS3 notification which caused a trigger action on your phone -- you could not reply directly from your smartwatch
Note:
Do not try to configure your GearS3 with the AW app, it won't work. Just install the app, run it and when it asks to configure your smartwatch just exit it.
This has been discussed in the past (some thread somewhere here) but nice to have a reminder.
well I couldn't find it and therefore added it here
I'm new to the Gear series so really appreciate this tip OP! Cheers! ?

Thanks for this will try.
Interestingly i use Android Auto and could not reply to WhatsApp, someone mentioned installing Hangouts, e voila works near perfect now.
Does this allow Google maps notifcations from the phone to gear S3?

Sorry I typoed, I can reply to Google Hangouts messages withOUT Android Wear installed...just did it.
Wouldn't work with S-Voice but canned replies and drawing letters worked.
I am on a Oneplus 3T
Maybe they changed something... It didn't work a month ago on my s7
I've only had my Gear S3 a few days, but it is working. Pretty sure I did a reply in Allo too yesterday.
Do you know what are the Android wear apps compatible with the Samsung Gear ?
On my side, I have discovered the very good "WearMail for Android Wear" app which works perfectly with the Samsung Gear watches.
This Wearmail app is very interesting as you can configure all type of email accounts including Office 365 accounts and it sends the content of the received mails to your watch via notifications. Very good.
pebble required aw fit the same reasons
