Yes, it is possible. I did that myself (however on a Xperia Z5 Compact, but I think it doesn't matter). Use "adb shell wm density xxx".
If you don't like the density from the cmd atlantix1 provided then u can use "adb shell wm density reset" which takes it back to default. You also need to know that by using this method of changing dpi isn't supported with all aps so some things will look funny such as contacts app and if u use swiftkey. The best way to change dpi is still with root in the build.prop file.

I can't remember what the program was called but though it was called adb shell.
What it does is that when I installed on my pc i can connect my phone and see a list of apks on the program. And when I goto different tab on the program, i can remove and push apk to and from phone.
does anybody know where i can download it?
Thanks
you mean this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9248406&postcount=1

Thanks gil2001xp
its something similar to the one you posted but with different interface.
the one that i used has all the apks on the phone listed on the left side and i can click on the one that i want to remove and just remove it.
for example, when i want to remove the stock launcher or camera i can just remove it and push the new launcher/camera of choice to the phone. this way i will not have two launcher/camera on my phone.
I will give X10 Mod Tool a try now.
Thanks again.

Hello Guys,
Today I was training to put my DPI higher, so my grandfather could see the screen.
Sadly when I booted with a DPI of 720, the process 'Trebuchet' stops.
The message of it, will continue again and again.
Do you guys maybe know how I can change my DPI back? (Using Recovery or bootloader)?
Thanks!
Try all winner apk. Not sure but might be it can help u.

I cannot boot my phone, so using an app is not a option.
The only thing I can do is use Bootloader and TWRP (recovery).

Use adb, connect device to computer, adb shell, cd/system, open build.prop by using nano build.prop change DPI back to required value Ctrl x saves the file. Exit to get out of adb shell and reboot phone.

At his moment, I got another problem.
All the adb commands return: "error: device not found".
The USB Debugging is on, to do that, I used "setprop persist.service.adb.enable 1".
But now it still does not find the device.

If you read my post, you could've seen that I cannot boot my phone.
So using that app will not help.
Extremely sorry that i have ignored that

Could somebody upload his/her build.prop?
I think that would do the job.
Sorry for my answer to your problem... I want to say that next time when you want to modify the DPI use the above app. Anyway, whatever...
I fixed it, with flashing a new rom.
After 20 tries, I could copy the .zip to my /sdcard/ folder and I could flash it.
Thanks for trying to/the help.
So I was trying changing the Dpi values,to see which one is better, but I want to set it back at its normal value. I think it's 360,but I'm not sure. . 376

Haha, use that.
Code:
adb shell wm density reset
I forgot to mention, no root here on anything. Phone is 100% stock. Should I put this code in the Dpi setting?
Edit: It accepts only numbers.
Normal/stock value is 480, but everything is too big, because of that i use 370/380, try it.

Open developer settings -> debugging mode, then use this code on adb shell via PC.
adb does NOT require root. It is a part of developer tools.
This is for those who wanted to remove the annoying network traffic arrow without Substratum, you can simply use this app (it's not made by me) and follow the adb command from its play store description, the app itself won't do the trick.
Tested from stock unrooted A1 on latest Oreo January patch.

Can someone help me I've been struggling with an embedded private network that is linked to my isp and or phone service. I know I'm at the wrong area but my direct email is [email protected] .. I'll gladly donate to whomever that can help. 7069130336
I installed the app from the play store and then ran the adb command "adb shell cmd overlay disable --user 0 com.keypressure.disable_network_activity_indicator" but to no success. Am I doing something wrong? I've used adb before to enable system ui tuner and some other apps. Using xz1 compact.

I had to reboot the phone after installing the app and before issuing the command in adb, so maybe try that.
Hi! is there a way to do a rebbot on Head Unit Android 9 (PX6) ?
I know only the method pushing the small pinhole on the radio.
Maybe there is another way via interface in the settings?
thanks
I'd like to know too... without root (root is easy).
At the moment I use a terminal app and type 'reboot' but I'd like an easier method.

I can't find the terminal app in your wiki....sorry. I don't want to root my Dasaita, just be able by terminal to do reboot, so i need to know which terminal app he used.
Just enter hctreboot in password for factory settings.

Slow down; not suggesting a terminal app at all, read the wiki - factory password codes for various utility commands, you might pick up a few other things than might then enable helping others, rather than a quick answer to get what you want and exit.
