Waterpoof Case? - Nexus 6P Accessories

Anyone know of a waterproof case?

Its a Nexus phone so good luck with that. Waterproof cases almost certainly won't be made for a low volume phone. The cases themselves such as life proof aren't huge sellers so is hard to justify it for a Nexus

Go to seidio and recommend the obex. I did and a few others have, we need to let them know it will sell and they'll make one.

Ziplock bag works when in rain. I wouldn't suggest it for submerging though. There's also liquidpel.

Wow... Low volume? Do you have even the slightest clue as to why the nexus series has never been a big seller? I'll give you a hint; it has something to do with well over HALF the mobile phone market not being able to use nexus phones. Give up? Before the nexus 6, they were ALL gsm only. Their popularity is going to go up... In addition, guess what the first SUGGESTED search was when I started to type nexus 6p in was? It was "nexus 6p waterproof case". And no, that was not from my search history. MOD EDIT: CONTENT REMOVED FOR RULES VIOLATIONS

I'm interested in one as well. Need it when I take daughter to play in the snow. Doubt one will ever be made though... though there's always the universal waterproof bags. They actually work pretty well but very unwielding and fugly. Lol

I'd love a waterproof case to my phone with me when I go skiing this winter. I've used one of those universal bags with the big plastic clip at the top, but it's so unwieldy and isn't exactly pocket-friendly. Not to mention, photos come out looking just a bit fuzzy due to condensation and whatnot.
Fingers crossed for the Obex, but I'm not holding my breath.

Anyone know if one is available by now? Either the Obex or any other waterproof one?

Not as good as a proper case, but LOKSAK aLOKSAK 4"x7" dry bags fit and they work pretty well and are cheap. I keep one in my backpack.

Anyone have a problem with the camera slow to autofocus while it's in the pouch? I've tested with inside vs outside the pouch and camera/video is quicker to focus compared to when it is in the pouch, sometimes doesn't focus. I am using a universal waterproof Moko case.

Is probably due to the laser assisted auto focus which is hitting the waterproof bag this not allowing it to focus. I don't use my 6P when it's wet outside because I don't want to ruin it.

I have a Moko clear case on my phone though, it still affects it? It shouldn't make contact with it, close, but no contact

I too am interested in a rugged, waterproof and shockproof case for my Nexus 6P. Can't see why the manufacturers who make the rugged iPhone cases can't make one for the Nexus phones. Missing out really.

The cost to design it vs what they will sell isn't worth it to them.

There are a good number of waterproof cases for the nexus phones but there aren't any for the nexus 6P due to the shape and location of the glass area that holds the camera on the back it makes it nearly impossible to design a case that won't crack that glass piece on the back.

Any one used Liquipel?

There will never be an actual case that's waterproof for the Nexus 6P. If you are looking for the bag though, Choetech makes a really nice 2 pack. I keep one in the disc golf bag and one by the shower for listening to music.

Case for a contractor ?

I think I'm about to inherit my wife's Nexus 4 since I'm giving her BB Z10 to try out and I need some sort of case.
I'm a contractor so I need some kind of case/pouch with clip on to my belt that would keep my phone secure.
I have Iphone 3 and use otterbox defender and I hated the case ever since I got it, bulky and looks like I'm carrying a satellite phone
Any recommendations ?
Mybat is your best bet. Its bulky, but bulky provides good protectiin

I got a seidio active today and I'm happy with it. I'm a glazier and I work new commercial buildings, etc. Its tough enough.
The Seido cases seem like the only ones I can find with good phone protection and a hard shell covering the screen, which is exactly what I want. I especially like the Convert model. I can't speak for bulkiness, but that is not a priority for me. Unfortunately they are just way too expensive; $70 for a piece of plastic....come on. I am surprised that someone has not come out with a cheap knockoff, but then again the availability of accessories for the Nexus 4 is pretty pitiful. I ordered a poorly rated Amzer case in the meantime just to have hard shell screen protection until a better case comes along.
The one thing missing the cases that are being sold by brand named companies is rubber flaps could cause covering the headphone jack and the USB port to prevent dust or humidity from getting in there. There are only two cases that have this and they are both on ebay.
I have this one and it already saved by phone from a fall off my bike! They also have them in other colors, and you can't beat the price!
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ALL-BLACK-R...846038?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item589d293716
This one right here appears to be the most heavy duty case I've seen for the Nexus 4, it even has a cover for the speaker! And again it's for an amazing price and a lot of color choices!
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Deluxe-Rubb...6?pt=PDA_Accessories&var=&hash=item460d4a7818
Just because the case is made by a popular brand, it doesn't mean it's really that good, look at how many disappointed Otterbox user are there. For what is worth; these cases are worth a shot!

I like the first one you posted, the only thing is that I'm not sure if it will support wireless charging
I'm using a ballistic case. There isn't any covers over the ports, but I've dropped it several times and no issues have come of it.
I work in a kitchen and have slammed the back of the case into stainless steel tables on accident (screen is always towards my leg) with no issues.
It also works well with the charging orb. The back of the case helps the grip of the orb.

This case does work with wireless charging on my orb. It may be a little sensitive with the height range ( the inductive ring is a little below center on the phone). It does work though and does not slide. This case really doesn't get enough credit for what it is. It's not as thick as it looks and isn't too bad with pocket lint.
That other case looks good, but I can't tell if it's a 2 piece design or just 1 piece. If it's one piece TPU I might be a little concerned with scratching up the chrome bezel with sharp corners. This case does appear to be a little too thick for wireless charging.

I didn't notice that; Is there is a hard plastic cover that protects the entire screen as part of the holster? If so, I would definitely pick one up.
Also, is the top and bottom of the phone protected as I see other cases where that is completely exposed?
Finally, I would appreciate it if you could give me the dimensions, especially the width as installed on the phone. I want to get the proper mount that has enough range to accept the width.
Thanks.

The case it 2.9 inches wide by 5.5 in tall by 0.65 in thick or 74 x 140 x 17 mm. And if I understand correctly the hard plastic corners do wrap around to the top and bottom slightly, but there is not exactly hard plastic in the middle of the top and bottom.
Just FYI, I messaged a seller about that second ebay case with the port covers and it's a one piece TPU so it probably isn't as nice of a fit or as shock absorbing. It also looks to be a little thicker on the back surface.
Yeah, the hard plastic only wraps around d to the front in six areas, all corners and in the middle on the sides. If you want some pictures let me know. The case is much slimmer than it appears and much less bulky then the mybat but at the same time it probably offers a little less protection because the mybat has hard plastic on the front.

Thanks tomhub389 and jlear3, I am going to order one.
I used a Seidio Active with the holster for my SGH-T989, Galaxy SII, and loved it. Add to it, while I was removing the phone from the case/skeleton I managed to break a corner off. I sent in a pic of the damage to Seidio and they sent me a brand new skeleton and soft shell at no charge with no questions asked. That's a damn good warranty if you ask me. Long story short, I have a Seidio Active on my Nexus 4 now. Also, they work with wireless charging.

2 Suggestions
First case I got was a Ionic Guardian. It was $5 shipped, and very nice for the money. Some don't like the weird pattern on back, but I got this so if I drop it or something, it doesn't get hurt http://www.amazon.com/Ionic-GUARDIAN-Armor-Google-Nexus/dp/B00A06Z41E
Just ordered this one because it has the dust covers built in, and a kickstand. I hope to use this as the daily driver. The Ionic was amazing in quality for $5, and I hope this new one matches that quality: http://www.amazon.com/BoxWave-Resolute-OA3-Nexus-Case/dp/B000LGBZR0
The kickstand and slightly better looks are a bonus.

No good cases/bumpers for the nexus 4

Im amazed that after so many months, there is not ONE single good quality and fully functional bumper or case for the Nexus 4, aside from the official one... I've searched this entire forum, all trought youtube, ebay, amazon, google, haven't found one thats worth buying... everything is ugly as hell, or damages the signal, etc, i am very dissapointed that manufacturers dont make quality stuff for this phone...
Maybe I just haven't searched well, if u guys know any bumper or case hat is REALLY high quality, premium, nice design, nice materials, please post, would be very appreciated
Kind Regards.
You're correct. I don't even use a car or bumper because of the lack of great cases. I've bought many and all sucked.
There's plenty of good cases for this phone... Just depends what kind you want and how much you want to spend.
I have an OEM bumper, it's cheap and it works good, hasn't fallen apart or anything. Only complaint is that dust accumulates quickly underneath.
I also have a Nilkin Leather Flip Case, it works perfect, I have no complaints with it whatsoever.
It's because there's not enough carriers that have the phone. The Galaxy Nexus was on Sprint and Verizon. It had more cases.

I didn't treat it carelessly and it broke within four months. It'll eventually happen. Just wait for it. It happens without dropping it and just from natural day to day use.
The bumper is great though, the feel of the buttons are great but at the same time, it does make the phone slightly bulkier.
Using the poetic bumper and I like it. The buttons aren't as good but it isn't as bulky either.

i've gone caseless for months because of this issue. been hoping UAG would make one. but honestly really surprised as a nexus product, it has no great cases or high name companies making cases for it.
There are a few good cases (acase superleggera, myriad of tpu cases, boxwave resolute, etc.) and I like the poetic bumper even if it doesn't last long they don't seem to have any problems replacing it.
The sales aren't there for the bigger case manf. to jump on the wagon.

Yep, me too, very happy with it. Nice balance between protection and looks plus as a bumper it gives you something to grab in an attempt to avoid the dreaded finger-smudge-look that you can easily get with the Nexus 4. Fantastic phone but glass front & back? Design over common sense there...

Sure.
Some people's bumpers don't break because they're disgusting people and never clean their phone.
Mine broke on the USB port. Never dropped or abused.
Take yours off and clean your filthy phone once in a while, it'll break for sure.

Official Lifeproof - launch page...

No release date yet...
http://www.lifeproof.com/en/samsung-galaxy-s4/
Enjoy.
I have the knockoff version of lifeproof. If the real one is better, outside of the feel of the case in your hand, I imagine it will be better than the seidio obex.
The sound solution of the fake lifeproof is better than the seidio obex.
The case on the fake one hasn't been dinged up like the seidio obex.
And lastly, the fake lifeproof's cheap screen hasn't been scratched up by anything and I drop it in with keys all the time.
Here is my review with some photos of the fake one.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2427099
The real one seems to have a real button over the home as opposed to the fake. I hope the side volume and power buttons are more responsive. I imagine that it will have a warranty like for the iphone 5 - I also imagine it will have better quality plastic/rubber/tpu than the fake one.
I'm excited. Trying to decide if I am going to drop what will probably be another 80 dollars on another waterproof case.
Dammit!! lol I literally just ordered a love mei case. Oh well I'll get it and keep it until this one comes out. Hopefully they release this case a lot faster than they did the s3 one.
Sweet very stoked about this.

Well, the obex feels really nice in the hand. It's shaped nicely and has a good rubber part for gripping. In regards to design in shape and form factor, I think obex is better.
But I know that obex has some sound distortion issues and albeit it might be the case for all waterproof cases. I have the a fake lifeproof and it doesn't have any sound distortion, it might be not as loud, but it doesn't have this vibration / buzz with high pitched noises. The obex can play most music without problems but my higher pitched notifications sound weird.
I expect lifeproof to offer a limited device warranty like they do for the iphone 5 cases, which seidio doesn't have.
Both are going to be otherwise the same in regards to drop rating(2 meters - mil 810-f/g) and waterproof rating (ip 68).
Outside of aesthetics and the feel of the case, the lifeproof will have the warranty and better sound solution. You may prefer the obex because it "feels" better. I don't know about the durability of the case or screen protector yet of the lifeproof, but the obex's screen protector can get damaged rather easily and the case can get buffed and scratched up / permanent creases easily as well. The later being more of an aesthetic thing. However, you do have to treat the obex with some care. Lifeproof may be the same way.
I'm not sure if you can install the nud with a screen protector on, if not your screen obviously is at risk of scratch damage.
It sounds like it will be a nice case but there is a whole lot of speculation going on. "Expects" and "guesses" aside, it will be interesting to here an unbiased review once the actual case gets released. This is definitely not an attack against the OP, because everyone has an opinion and a user experience, but i think it is important to keep speculation separate from fact. And, anyone that has read the OP's opinion on the OBEX case (in one of the OBEX threads) can definitely tell bias (and that is OK, we all have our favorites). At this point I'm going to wait for the case to be released and see how it actually preforms in direct comparison to the OBEX and other similar cases. And because it hasn't been released yet, that can't be done yet.

Obex:
Fact: Keys in pocket + case + 1 day = scratches on case, abrasions / creases on the screen protector.
Fact: 1 day at the beach = 1 or 2 sand pock marks = it must have got a few granules on the screen and somehow the pressure of being against my wallet pressed those granules into the protector.
I doubt I could do a direct comparison to OBEX. So you're right, it is definitely a "bias" based on poor performance that I admittedly would never put another 80 dollar case through. LOL.
I am certain that my review caused the vast majority of the users here to treat their OBEX more carefully than before, and they are having a great/better experience than myself - which is good.
OUTSIDE of the above - the following is opinion that I really don't think is biased. In regards to the sound and the warranty, I think there is enough of a track record that those two things will be true from prior models.
The sound solution and the warranty is what I base what Lifeproof's advantage will be over the seidio.
I believe the lifeproof won't feel as good in the hand as the obex.
As I said before, I don't know about the materials otherwise. I consider these to be equal until proven otherwise.
Anyone use the case on the s3? How long did It take to scratch the screen to hell?is it replaceable? If not maybe better off to get the nudde model to change out the screen? They should use glass!!!!!! Oh well someone will come out with one and is WATERPROOF

It would sit on top of the glass (just as if you had no protector at all). Don't mean having the glass shape around the case.

it's a device warranty with a deductible.
http://www.lifeproof.com/en/total-water-protection-program
It's 1 year probably because wear and tear render the case less water protective over time. The snappy ends that the obex have are similar to the lifeproof.
There is a seal at the bottom created by a foam like waterproof insert against the bottom entrance for the lifeproof iphone 5 variant.
The obex has a rubber plug like mechanism.
Personally, I know how the liefproof feels in the hand because my wife has one, and my friend has one for the GS3, unless there's a major design change with different mats (which I doubt looking at the picture). The obex definitely feels better in the hand.

I'm hoping it'd work like it did at the end of this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2FEdzsSuqY). And there is the possibility the vitreo may work well for what you're suggesting.

I don't think it will work well with a waterproof case this way bc it will mess with the structure and integrity of the case for its waterproof purposes that it was specifically engineered to do.

Yes but considering it'd most likely work with a plastic screen protector and the fact that the nano and feather are basically that thin. It might be possible.

Sexy case indeed, seems even more sexy than lifeproof....

[Q] need a dustproof case for the nexus 5.

sorry for the bad english...
im an idf soldier and im constantly in the field and exposed to dust and sand... also the phone is exposed to hit and falls...
im looking for a case that will protect from those things... i saw the BALLISTIC Nexus 5 SG MAXX Case but it has some flaws like in the screen protector that is not fully closed...
is there any other cases? actually the perfect case for me is this: youtube.c om/ watch?v=18c8gEoeJ9Y that combines battery and protection...
thanks..

I think the only way to keep the dust out would be to get a waterproof case like this.

i've seen it and there is no such case for the nexus 5... altough there is a good case " CONVERT® with Metal Kickstand Combo" for the nexus but it lacks the front protection...

[Q] What do you guys think about this case?

I want to buy this case, but I'm not sure if it'll be good for protection. If any of you have this case, then please let me know how good is it.

Seems good for the price.

I have this case I haven't dropped my phone with it on yet but it does and some protection I think from small drops. It doesn't protect the front off the phone as much as I would like.

What do you think about this case, mate?

I've watched a drop test video on youtube of this case being dropped from 2 story house. Just lil few scratches on the case and phone is perfectly fine. It also comes with screen protector.

Looks good. Kind of looks like the Spigen Tough Armor. Has some mainly positive reviews on Amazon so I think it should be good.

Ive been using the case since November and i haven't carried a wallet since. Regardless of what anyone says, it can carry 3 cards, not 2. I carry my license and two credit cards with no problem. I've also dropped the phone several times - on it's face and corners with no problems whatsoever. My wife also has the case and has the same results. IMO it's the best case on the market. I get a ton of compliments and people wanting to know where they can buy one.
Highly, highly recommended.
I also tried the Spigen - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MAWQKIW
Other version of the "slide" case that actually opens (its crap, don't buy it) - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PGCN7XY
Ultra Thin Slim (really cool..its very very thin yet will still protect. I'd have kept this one if it weren't for the slide case) - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OQ1IMQ8
The Spigen was crap compared to the Slide. THe kickstand was very flimsy and barely stayed open. Considering it's size (its bulky just like the Slide case is), I expected better. Since the kickstand was so flimsy, it defeated the purpose of it so why not have a case with the same protection but can also replace your wallet?
Verus/Damda slide ftw.

Currently, I own Spigen Tough Armor, but I see a lot of people moaning and crying about Spigen case scratching the bezel. So, I took mine out to check, it was lil scratched up; however, it doesn't bother me because I'll always use cases. Right now I'm debating either to buy the one you recommended or Krubox (http://www.amazon.com/Krubox-Shockp...p/B00RC2QIW8/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top?ie=UTF8). Youtube video of this case being dropped from two story house really impressed me.

i'm CURRENTLY using a clear case from OBLIQ just to showcase the beauty of my Galaxy S6. the design is really nice and i like the color of the device.
Definitely not a strong/protective case for the device but i rarely drop it so not so worried. and plus, i don't like bulky/fat cases.
