Enjoy.
I have the knockoff version of lifeproof. If the real one is better, outside of the feel of the case in your hand, I imagine it will be better than the seidio obex.
The sound solution of the fake lifeproof is better than the seidio obex.
The case on the fake one hasn't been dinged up like the seidio obex.
And lastly, the fake lifeproof's cheap screen hasn't been scratched up by anything and I drop it in with keys all the time.
Here is my review with some photos of the fake one.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2427099
The real one seems to have a real button over the home as opposed to the fake. I hope the side volume and power buttons are more responsive. I imagine that it will have a warranty like for the iphone 5 - I also imagine it will have better quality plastic/rubber/tpu than the fake one.
I'm excited. Trying to decide if I am going to drop what will probably be another 80 dollars on another waterproof case.
Dammit!! lol I literally just ordered a love mei case. Oh well I'll get it and keep it until this one comes out. Hopefully they release this case a lot faster than they did the s3 one.
Sweet very stoked about this.

I've never heard of life proof before this is first galaxy phone been an HTC fan decided to try another brand... So this life proof is better than the obex? If so which is the better one the fre or the uud I think it was?

Well, the obex feels really nice in the hand. It's shaped nicely and has a good rubber part for gripping. In regards to design in shape and form factor, I think obex is better.
But I know that obex has some sound distortion issues and albeit it might be the case for all waterproof cases. I have the a fake lifeproof and it doesn't have any sound distortion, it might be not as loud, but it doesn't have this vibration / buzz with high pitched noises. The obex can play most music without problems but my higher pitched notifications sound weird.
I expect lifeproof to offer a limited device warranty like they do for the iphone 5 cases, which seidio doesn't have.
Both are going to be otherwise the same in regards to drop rating(2 meters - mil 810-f/g) and waterproof rating (ip 68).
Outside of aesthetics and the feel of the case, the lifeproof will have the warranty and better sound solution. You may prefer the obex because it "feels" better. I don't know about the durability of the case or screen protector yet of the lifeproof, but the obex's screen protector can get damaged rather easily and the case can get buffed and scratched up / permanent creases easily as well. The later being more of an aesthetic thing. However, you do have to treat the obex with some care. Lifeproof may be the same way.
I'm not sure if you can install the nud with a screen protector on, if not your screen obviously is at risk of scratch damage.
It sounds like it will be a nice case but there is a whole lot of speculation going on. "Expects" and "guesses" aside, it will be interesting to here an unbiased review once the actual case gets released. This is definitely not an attack against the OP, because everyone has an opinion and a user experience, but i think it is important to keep speculation separate from fact. And, anyone that has read the OP's opinion on the OBEX case (in one of the OBEX threads) can definitely tell bias (and that is OK, we all have our favorites). At this point I'm going to wait for the case to be released and see how it actually preforms in direct comparison to the OBEX and other similar cases. And because it hasn't been released yet, that can't be done yet.

Obex:
Fact: Keys in pocket + case + 1 day = scratches on case, abrasions / creases on the screen protector.
Fact: 1 day at the beach = 1 or 2 sand pock marks = it must have got a few granules on the screen and somehow the pressure of being against my wallet pressed those granules into the protector.
I doubt I could do a direct comparison to OBEX. So you're right, it is definitely a "bias" based on poor performance that I admittedly would never put another 80 dollar case through. LOL.
I am certain that my review caused the vast majority of the users here to treat their OBEX more carefully than before, and they are having a great/better experience than myself - which is good.
OUTSIDE of the above - the following is opinion that I really don't think is biased. In regards to the sound and the warranty, I think there is enough of a track record that those two things will be true from prior models.
The sound solution and the warranty is what I base what Lifeproof's advantage will be over the seidio.
I believe the lifeproof won't feel as good in the hand as the obex.
As I said before, I don't know about the materials otherwise. I consider these to be equal until proven otherwise.
Anyone use the case on the s3? How long did It take to scratch the screen to hell?is it replaceable? If not maybe better off to get the nudde model to change out the screen? They should use glass!!!!!! Oh well someone will come out with one and is WATERPROOF

Obex also has a 1 year warranty for their case as well right? So whats so different about lifeproof? If you are talking about covering the phone if it gets damaged they don't do that anymore.

Same. Even if I had to buy the spigen nano or mime feather, I'd do that and get the nüüd. Ultimate protection imo.
No glass screen protector is shaped like the way the lifeproof will shape the front cover because the front cover includes the home button.

It would sit on top of the glass (just as if you had no protector at all). Don't mean having the glass shape around the case.

I understand that it sits on top of it but look at the shape of all glass screen protectors. They go down to the home button. The home button part of the lifeproof or seidio obex would be in the way.

it's a device warranty with a deductible.
http://www.lifeproof.com/en/total-water-protection-program
It's 1 year probably because wear and tear render the case less water protective over time. The snappy ends that the obex have are similar to the lifeproof.
There is a seal at the bottom created by a foam like waterproof insert against the bottom entrance for the lifeproof iphone 5 variant.
The obex has a rubber plug like mechanism.
Personally, I know how the liefproof feels in the hand because my wife has one, and my friend has one for the GS3, unless there's a major design change with different mats (which I doubt looking at the picture). The obex definitely feels better in the hand.

I don't think it will work well with a waterproof case this way bc it will mess with the structure and integrity of the case for its waterproof purposes that it was specifically engineered to do.

Yes but considering it'd most likely work with a plastic screen protector and the fact that the nano and feather are basically that thin. It might be possible.

We all know how amazing the Trident Aegis case is when it comes to protection, but some of you guys were turned off by the thickness.

Gonna order it soon, will report back on how it is.

How bad is the scratching on the Speck, in your opinion? Is it as horrifying as people make it up to be?
I got one coming as I type. I will post pics and let everyone know how it is. It was $12.99 on ebay.
Got mine this last Monday. Seems great, I did notice that the buttons push very easily but that's fine with me.

Anyone review this yet?
bump... no review... no discussion whatsoever on this case.
I'm not sure if it even exists.
Its not worth the discussion. Its basically a the Aegis without the covers and the hard shell. The Aegis is by far the better choice, and not too mich bigger than the Perseus.
I bought the Perseus and Aegis at the same time, got the Perseus before the Aegis and then sold the Perseus to a friend after being much more satisfied with the Aegis. Hope this helps anyone considering Trident cases.

Anything else you'd like to add about the cover? I'm mainly curious about how it compares to the Aegis in terms of thickness and weight.
It looks alright. Personally I think the aegis is superior looks-wise and I'm gonna keep rocking that. Can you post pictures if and when you get this case? What's the exact difference in thickness between this and the aegis??

Well its made up of non slip silicone, so it has a nice feel to it. I would definitely feel comfortable running with it or doing any activity that would require the phone not to slip out of my hand.
Well its a little smaller than the Aegis, maybe around .15 mm. Its almost nothing. It is slightly heavier, I think because they went with a sturdier silicone on the Aegis, but I like it as my phone feels protected.
The thing that won me over was the hard shell, it makes it easier to take out of jeans (I wear jeans most of the time) than just the silicone case. The added protection is nice, as is the anti-skid feature, even though the silicone case has it as well. Hope this helps anyone considering Trident cases. The last thing that I love about the Aegis are the dust/water resistant covers. While obviously dunking your phone in water might not be the best idea, if you suddenly spill a drink near your phone, you don't have to worry about the exposed Micro USB and headphone ports. Obviously not the HDMI since it is already covered, but its nice to have it available as well.
Also, I can post pictures of the Aegis case if anyone requests it, I don't have the Perseus anymore but I might be able to compare for a brief moment.

Your description actually sold me on this case. I hate the covers on the usb port and the double coverage of the hdmi port on the aegis and that skimpy plastic backing doesn't convince me enough of the extra protection. I think the Perseus has some promise, just like the name implies. I just ordered one, I'm sure it will be better than the lg optimus 2x kickstand case I have right now (kickstand broke off many months ago).

It's just OK.. Its a plastic case that protects the back with no protection for the front. It gets a bit more slippery, but it is a perfect fit case. The kickstand is real fragile and flimsy though and loosens up after extended use. The kickstand was kinda cool though cause I would always prop my phone up and never had to lift my phone up to see whose calling.
It is an official lg case, but there are better ones out there. I think this Perseus case will be batter.
Alright, I just received the trident Perseus case, and I really like it. I've never owned the aegis, and I have only had the lg kickstand case to really compare it too. This is hands down better than any plastic case out there. All the cutouts are perfect on this case and I have not had any issues at all with usb or 3.5mm fitment. This case provides the most grip I've ever scene on any phone, on st. paddy's day I was wobbling and swaying around the streets but this phone was stuck to my hand, no drunk drops. You'd have to be in cardiac arrest for this phone to slip out of your hands. I never really like holding my handset up to my ear because it felt uncomfortable for long periods of time, but with this case on the comfort level is optimum for that talking stance. I think the only way to top this case would be for goodyear, michelin, or pirelli to develop a non slip rubber case for our phone (which ain't gonna happen).
As for protection, the four corners have the most protection, The front bottom lip is raised for a little front screen protection.. the top of the front screen protection is kinda of skimpy and the back is very firm on the top part. The different textures on the back is a nice touch for the grip on this phone and the side grips absolutely make this phone. If you know senior citizens with smartphones, you should recommend this case (Safe for ages 10 & up). Also, the speaker and mic cover are nice touches but I really don't run into many dust storms or work on a construction site so I can't comment on their effectiveness to block out any dust particles. It's definitely worth $12.99.
Sorry if this is a silly question, but can you easily take off/on the case?
I think I'm about to inherit my wife's Nexus 4 since I'm giving her BB Z10 to try out and I need some sort of case.
I'm a contractor so I need some kind of case/pouch with clip on to my belt that would keep my phone secure.
I have Iphone 3 and use otterbox defender and I hated the case ever since I got it, bulky and looks like I'm carrying a satellite phone
Any recommendations ?
Mybat is your best bet. Its bulky, but bulky provides good protectiin

I got a seidio active today and I'm happy with it. I'm a glazier and I work new commercial buildings, etc. Its tough enough.
The Seido cases seem like the only ones I can find with good phone protection and a hard shell covering the screen, which is exactly what I want. I especially like the Convert model. I can't speak for bulkiness, but that is not a priority for me. Unfortunately they are just way too expensive; $70 for a piece of plastic....come on. I am surprised that someone has not come out with a cheap knockoff, but then again the availability of accessories for the Nexus 4 is pretty pitiful. I ordered a poorly rated Amzer case in the meantime just to have hard shell screen protection until a better case comes along.
The one thing missing the cases that are being sold by brand named companies is rubber flaps could cause covering the headphone jack and the USB port to prevent dust or humidity from getting in there. There are only two cases that have this and they are both on ebay.
I have this one and it already saved by phone from a fall off my bike! They also have them in other colors, and you can't beat the price!

I like the first one you posted, the only thing is that I'm not sure if it will support wireless charging
I'm using a ballistic case. There isn't any covers over the ports, but I've dropped it several times and no issues have come of it.
I work in a kitchen and have slammed the back of the case into stainless steel tables on accident (screen is always towards my leg) with no issues.
It also works well with the charging orb. The back of the case helps the grip of the orb.

This case does work with wireless charging on my orb. It may be a little sensitive with the height range ( the inductive ring is a little below center on the phone). It does work though and does not slide. This case really doesn't get enough credit for what it is. It's not as thick as it looks and isn't too bad with pocket lint.
That other case looks good, but I can't tell if it's a 2 piece design or just 1 piece. If it's one piece TPU I might be a little concerned with scratching up the chrome bezel with sharp corners. This case does appear to be a little too thick for wireless charging.

I didn't notice that; Is there is a hard plastic cover that protects the entire screen as part of the holster? If so, I would definitely pick one up.
Also, is the top and bottom of the phone protected as I see other cases where that is completely exposed?
Finally, I would appreciate it if you could give me the dimensions, especially the width as installed on the phone. I want to get the proper mount that has enough range to accept the width.
Thanks.

The case it 2.9 inches wide by 5.5 in tall by 0.65 in thick or 74 x 140 x 17 mm. And if I understand correctly the hard plastic corners do wrap around to the top and bottom slightly, but there is not exactly hard plastic in the middle of the top and bottom.
Just FYI, I messaged a seller about that second ebay case with the port covers and it's a one piece TPU so it probably isn't as nice of a fit or as shock absorbing. It also looks to be a little thicker on the back surface.
Yeah, the hard plastic only wraps around d to the front in six areas, all corners and in the middle on the sides. If you want some pictures let me know. The case is much slimmer than it appears and much less bulky then the mybat but at the same time it probably offers a little less protection because the mybat has hard plastic on the front.

Thanks tomhub389 and jlear3, I am going to order one.
I used a Seidio Active with the holster for my SGH-T989, Galaxy SII, and loved it. Add to it, while I was removing the phone from the case/skeleton I managed to break a corner off. I sent in a pic of the damage to Seidio and they sent me a brand new skeleton and soft shell at no charge with no questions asked. That's a damn good warranty if you ask me. Long story short, I have a Seidio Active on my Nexus 4 now. Also, they work with wireless charging.

2 Suggestions
First case I got was a Ionic Guardian. It was $5 shipped, and very nice for the money. Some don't like the weird pattern on back, but I got this so if I drop it or something, it doesn't get hurt http://www.amazon.com/Ionic-GUARDIAN-Armor-Google-Nexus/dp/B00A06Z41E
Just ordered this one because it has the dust covers built in, and a kickstand. I hope to use this as the daily driver. The Ionic was amazing in quality for $5, and I hope this new one matches that quality: http://www.amazon.com/BoxWave-Resolute-OA3-Nexus-Case/dp/B000LGBZR0
The kickstand and slightly better looks are a bonus.

I'd also be keen to know if anyone has one and their thoughts on it.
Wish UAG made a case for the Note 8.
I ordered it for $39 dollars on eBay, I hope to get within a week..I'll let you know how it is.
Ballistic reviews for other devices look very promising!

Received it today; first impressions...it fits like a glove, but it's easy to put on.
The silicone is the inner shell so it doesn't attract any dust. The plastic outside shell has a nice texture and isn't slippery. The only rubber parts which can be seen are the"enforced"edges, which serve the purpose of protection and makes sure that your screen never touches anything when laid down on its face and a narrow ring around the screen. The case however doesn't have covers for the ports(usb, camera, headphone and speakers) I had the idea that it would come with a screen protector, but my dead brain cells must have misunderstood the description. It comes however with a protective cover which also serves as a stand. It feels sturdy and with it on, your note is well protected, it makes however quite heavy like a brick.
The "phone"still fits in my hand, but that is without the cover attached.
All in all I'm quite satisfied with this case it will protect my note well and the design is not too shabby either.
I'll give y'all an update in two weeks.
Cheers my friends.

Do you still have access to the S-pen?
Sure no problem, the spen is easy to remove and all the buttons(volume etc) react perfect even with such a protective case.

I can't find it for that price anywhere. Happen to have a link? I'm interested in picking this up over the otterbox
I bought it through this shop, fast and cheap shipping!
http://www.ebay.com/itm/171090399902?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
I had to use ebay since I live in Japan, otherwise this offer on Amazon would have even been better!:crying:

thanks for sharing your impressions and the pictures. i am very tempted to pick one of these up myself. I got a simple/cheap flip case to hold me over temporarily, but to be quite frank, I am too damn clumsy not to invest in more serious protection for my electronic devices.
Note 8 is my first case, so was curious how such a sturdy case felt on the device. Ballistic basically won over my loyalty two smartphone ago...had the equivalent case on my Atrix, and one day while running to catch a bus my phone fell out of my pocket and when flying, slammed into the asphalt of the highway/street i was running across hard enough to bounce three times and make it halfway back towards the other side of the street. I was horrified, went to retrieve it... not one single scratch, not one sign that anything had happened, just nothing. Those massive corners do their job, is all I have to say...
Hoping the case for this device is as reliable.
I can highly recommend this case, after two weeks of using, it has been nothing but good to my sweet note. The case and the stand feel sturdy, and when the note is my bag, the cover protects the screen...good stuff and a hell of a lot cheaper than the otter box.

just received mine today. this case is perfect but i am wondering how come the front cover which acts as a kickstand has a big hole that we will display the name samsung. i find it weird and find the hole redundant.
any thoughts?
When you put the cover on the back, the hole is a cutout for the camera.

yup i know but still find it funny as that hole will trap dust over a period of time.
Just picked up this case. It's very nice. Good tight fit and solid all around. I had the poetic revolution case for one day and tossed it. Pure junk IMO.

Has anyone noticed the case puts too much pressure on the back of the tablet. This is causing white spots to appear on the screen. Looks like LCD mura, but goes away when you take the case off. I've sent Ballistic an email, maybe mine is defective.
No I haven't experienced this...

It's hard to notice on mine, but on a white background you can see it. Thanks for the reply.
I just bought the http://waterdawggear.com/collections/wetsuit-case-for-samsung-galaxy-s4. Seemed like it would be a very spectacular case, and competitively priced as well...it was to good to be true. I received it today and it's terrible. I can go into detail in a bit, but I'm on the search right now.
What are some waterproof cases that are exceptional and are there plans for newer ones coming out in the future?
Side question : I bought this phone from a third party individual, does my insurance through att cover this phone? Thanks guys

For even cheaper knockoff waterproof cases, try ebay. I have one of those for $15 and it's definitely waterproof although the screen protector is not completely flushed against the screen so you have to put a little more pressure on the touch and also decrease txting accuracy.

I have and am using the same knockoff. It's kinda annoying with the touch sensitivity. It is workable until my money tree grows. If you have the funds I would go with the lifeproof fre. Otterbox also has one that's gonna come out soon.

I don't see anything being better than my OBEX. Had my first drop last night and all it did was bounce! Also, it doesn't add much bulk at all. Another advantage to this case is the rubber pieces on the back that keep it from sliding around. I've had the OBEX for about a month now and have not found the first disadvantage.

Hey op, what is so bad bout the case you bought? Not waterproof enough? If it sucks please share the details. Might save someone lots of money and headaches.

You get what you pay for.
I would not trust any cheap or generic waterproof cases that my two cents.
What is everyone doing that the cases need to be waterproof???

I have the OBEX too. It definitely protects the phone, but I have to disagree with the "keeping it from sliding around" part. The OBEX is just plain slippery, particularly in my hand. Most of the soft surface is on the inside of the perimeter edges. It helps when you hold the case in your hand, but the back is hard and slippery. I wish the front and back faces had more soft material - it would really help.
I want to use this case daily, but it makes my phone a little too big for my taste. For now I just use it for special circumstances.

6 year old and 3 year old. Need drop protection and waterproof. My lifeproofed iPhone 5 had dents all over the case and survived throws into puddles, etc. Came out of the case 10 months later in mint condition.

my clear tpu case has started yellowing so time for a new one, i have decided on the ringke fusion as after reading many reviews it seems like a great case but i have a few concerns. A few have pointed out that the case actually scratches the sides of the nexus 5 which is a deal breaker for me as only reason i want a case is to keep the phone in pristine condition for resale can any white nexus 5 owners who are using this case confirm whether this is true or not? Also a few others have pointed out that the sides are really sharp which makes it uncomfortable to hold not sure if this is true either? Will also be using a tempered glass screen protector with the case if that makes a difference.

Hi yes i had a look before posting, i thought this thread would belong in the accesory section so typed everything up there but when i ticked the box stating is this a question it said it is against forum rules to post any questions in this forum please go and post in Q&A so i just copied and pasted everything here lol
I have this case (grey) on my white Nexus 5 - it looks great.
Are the edges a little sharp? Yes. Do they ever bother me when holding my phone? Nope.
As far as scratching - I'm not sure about that. It is a TPU material and hasn't damaged mine the least bit in the four months I have been using it.
Overall, I think its a great case for the price.
That soubds promising, i forgot to ask since its tpu will it also yellow with time? The back i mean im not sure if its tpu or another material

Btw, I checked out the case and it looks awesome. You certainly can't beat the price. May I ask please which tempered glass screen protector you intend to get?

I currently have the orzly tempered glass which currently looks and feels great BUT there is a huge bubble near the notification light which seems others have a problem with as well, i got a refund and was thinking of ordering another one and putting some binder clips on it asap but the price went up from £4.99 to £9.99 which i think is stupid but i cant seem to find a cheap one which does not have cutouts for the camera and proximity sensor

Clear TPU is known for yellowing. The clear plastic on these hybrid cases aren't TPU and shouldn't yellow over time.

The Ringke Case was the first case I bought for my Nexus 5 when it first came out. I had one on my Galaxy S3 and knew that it was a high quality accessory. When i got it delivered from Amazon I was pretty hyped up to try it on. Needless to say it looked great. I always prefer the very slim cases so it doesn't add bulk to a phone that looks so good. My only gripe is that it's really hard to get the case off once you put it on. The first time I took it off, I thought I was going to break my phone. You will learn how to best take the case off. The plastic on the case actually bends pretty well so you can pop an edge out. I have not had any issues with scratching on the corners, although many others complain. The edges of the case are a little bit sharp, but it was nothing I couldn't deal with. If you have a file or piece of fine sandpaper, that would do the trick. I bought the solid black color, so I have no idea about the yellowing issue. I would buy it if you like it. I just saw that Ringke was selling their cases 1/2 off yesterday, so grab one if you can. Even if you don't like it, you didn't spend much you know? I'm sure you will be satisfied. Good luck....
Im going to order it now cheapest i could find is £6.99 on amazon. Price isn't really an issue its not the cheapest case but if its durable then not expensive either my main concern was the case scratching the nexus 5 because if it did that then i wouldn't even want it if it was free, maybe it's a problem with the black nexus 5 with softer and matte sides? Or maybe an old revision problem as it says on the description on amazon " ENHANCED AND REVISED" so maybe the problem has been rectified

Got my ringke fusion in the post today and 1st impressions...... It is amazing feels very premium and looks premium worth every penny and more. My only slight issue is that there is some glue residue on the top right hand corner and a tiny bit on the bottom left hand corner however this does not effect the function of the case thats why it's a slight issue. Another problem is my sennheiser hd 558s wont fit into the phone now but that's probably just because the adapter on the 558 is pretty huge

Sorry if I'm late to the party, but I use the Spigen one that looks almost exactly the same. More people use it, and there are a ton of PS templates to make your own back plate (Which makes your phone look very nice if done right).

also happy with Fusion case and TechArmor glass
...black edges, clear back, but pretty well brand new, so dunno about yellowing yet...it's not like the back is out in the sun a lot, it's in my palm!
As for TechArmor glass, it was $15, so pretty steep, and while it went on, it just won't stay put at the very bottom..."bubbles" that I can press all the way out but creep back up again for about the last 1/2" of the phone. Otherwise I love it, the rest is very, very smooth, really you don't notice it a bit, and no problems with touch sensitivity whatever. Bought from Amazon...TechArmor doesn't show it on their own website...?

Get yourself some binder clips and attach it to where the bubbles are, use a microfibre cloth in between so it doesn't damage the phone or the screen protector, and leave a few hours overnight will be better, and the bubbles will be gone

The spigen one makes the back of the phone look much nicer than the ringke as it doesn't overlap the white as much however from reviews its a little bulkier than the ringke and buttons are harder to press whereas on the ringke i have the buttons are perfect

Just noticed another fault on my ringke fusion, on the bottom right hand corner (when looking from behind) right above the bit that sticks out it doesn't seem to join perfectly almost as if enough glue was not used could my qi charger have melted it a little? If no then should i ask for a replacement or am i likely to get the same again
