Hi,
Not sure where im going wrong really, i used odin to flash a firmware, i was expecting it to wipe the phone completely which is what i wanted it to do because i wanted to start afresh with a new firmware but after installing i still has the remnants of the previous rom on like the theme didnt change, it didnt even bring up the initial setup screens. i did not change any of the Odin tickboxes, am i missing something?
Many thanks
After the odin installation, boot into the samsung recovery and wipe data + system + cache

hey guys so i reflashed the stock att rom and rooted. then i tried to load romracer's kernel and after i flashed it with cwm, my phone got stuck on the Samsung splash screen. what am i doing wrong? actually, it happened during the reboot after i rooted my phone as well.
My suggestion. Boot into cwm. Fix permissions try to reboot. If not go boot back into cwm wipe data/ cache 3 times and reboot. If still no go. Use odin to flash the stocky recovery.tar boot into stock recovery wipe data/cache 3 times reboot. And if still no go odin the full stock tar. Boot into stock recovery wipe data/cache 3 times and reboot..
..also make sure tye rom your using is compatible with that kernel
i did a full reflash of the stock tar, rooted, and then flashed the kernel with cwm and thats how it got stuck. right now im still running the clean stock rom tar and rooted so im going to try to install the kernel again, wipe data/cache, fix permissions, and reboot. hopefully that works!
Are you sure the kernel is compatible with the stock rom
so i tried all the options you gave me, and it still bricked =(
yes, unless i am missing something

If you can get into download mode you are fine. Odin the stock tar. And give up on that kernel. Or try that kernel with a diff rom
In CWM, did the typical things
A Data/factory Reset, Format: System, Data And Cache, And Clear The Partition And Dalvik Caches, Do That To All Of Them 3 Times Each.
ran new radio zip.
Booted into download mode, and did odin thing as instructed following info here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1652398
used the md5 for latest stock ATT ICS.
This went thru fine and rebooted.
here I am, at ATT boot animation, just runs once and sits.
I can get into android system recovery....
What do I do next?
please point me if I missed the obvious thread......
factory reset in the recovery

no dice!
any other ideas?
OK I tried flashing different things, went back to CWM, then did stock again.
works!
yuck I hate this bloat ware
one of my recommendations in that post you followed was try factory reset and/or flash the stock again if things are not right, especially coming from custom roms.
but i will edit the radio flashing to do it 2 times and add another warning to reflash stock again
The Wifi on my phone wasn't turning on, even after factory reset, so I reflashed stock ROM via Odin (v3.07)
I got stuck in a bootloop, and after factory reset via the stock recovery + wipe of cache partition, it was still stuck.
I then re-flashed the stock ROM. Still stuck.
Tried using Kies 3, with the firmware upgrade and installation tab. Said something about not supporting my phone when I was prompted to plug it in. (SM-G355H; Samsung Galaxy Core II Duos)
I then found an unofficial version of CWM v6 for my phone (there's no official support), and quickly flashed that (via Odin 3.09; which is what I use from this point on), forgetting that my phone was no longer rooted. I wiped davlik cache and data. Still stuck. Then I rooted my phone. Stuck.
Then I reflashed stock ROM (this time, I downloaded from another website) (to test my luck, I tried seeing if simply a factory reset and cache wipe would work. It did not) rooted my phone, and flashed CWM. Wiped davlik cache. Still stuck.
By the way, when I wipe davlik cache it says:
Warning: no file_contexts
E:unknown volume for path [/sd-ext]
Davlik Cache wiped.
Any ideas on what to do now? I can't send it to a manufacturer / repair store where I live. I'm thinking maybe I should untick Auto Reboot and/or F. Reset Time when flashing, use an earlier version of Odin or the ROM itself, or maybe there is something I can do with ADB? I'm not very familiar with it, but I'm more than willing to learn. I just need some direction...
Update: Flashed with Auto Reboot unticked. Still in bootloop.
Flashed with same ROM, different country. Still in bootloop.
Alright, I fixed it by using Kies, via firmware upgrade and installation. You have to ignore where it says that your device is not supported, and just leave it to download. If you get stuck on the setup screen like I did, try cache wipe + factory reset. If it doesn't work flash an earlier version of the firmware. You might be using the wrong region (It's not always your country), use Kies to check. When it tells you what pda/ modem / csc it wants to update the region will be in parentheses ( eg ACR). Use all of them possible
I've been rooting and customizing phones since the original T-Mobile G1...but this phone gives me headaches. I unrooted my phone through superuser and updated my phone through smart switch, I even tried odin to flash an update but for some reason it just gets stuck at the Samsung logo, if I re-root my phone it comes right up...I can get my phone to come up every time I've rooted it but if I don't root it after odin flash or smart switch, it just sits there. I've waited 30 minutes or more each at the samsung logo. Anyone who can help me, I just want to unroot and flash a clean stock firmware.

Go into TWRP recovery and wipe dalvik cache, cache, data, and system. Then reboot into download mode from TWRP. Then Odin flash stock firmware. Once booted or if stuck on boot logo, try to boot into stock recovery and wipe data factory reset. Power on and all should be good. I've done this before with success.

This should definitely work, however be warned. If you end up having to go into stock recovery for a factory reset, all of your user data will be wiped.
Hi,
I want to ask about my phone j700h i dont know if dead or what.
first my phone firmware is Marshamallow then i downloaded A5 Port rom and install and success and then i saw "Speed Fusion Remix " i think its cool so i downloaded and create backup using TWRP and install "Speed Fusion Remix " and Success and when i use the "Speed Fusion Remix " i tried gps test apps in My Room and i saw slow locking location then a few hours i tried to go back to A5 Port Rom using Restore TWRP and success boot. and i tried to GPS test in my Room but also slow and i tried outside my house and then there is a bunch of GPS satellite so i think "Speed Fusion Remix ROM" have no problems. Once Again i tried to Flash "Speed Fusion Remix ROM" and after installation my phone went BLACK it won't charge, I can't go to Recovery mode but i can go to Download Mode. So i downloaded he Official Firmware J7 then Flash Using ODIN software and Success flash, but it won't BOOT and Black Screen also. I cant Go to Recovery, Only DownloadMode is Function.
WHY? Can you Help Me?
Did you do a full wipe - data, system, cache, dalvik cache - before flashing with Odin?
Odin defaults to 'upgrade' while preserving data.
If you didn't wipe before the Odin flash you now have a 'mix' of roms on your fon.
Edit
First try to reinstall TWRP using Odin.
If that fails proceed as below.
Since you can't go into recovery to wipe anymore, retry Odin but select Re-Partition under options.
If that fails use SmartSwitch emergency recovery.
You're such a flash whore! . Like me :silly:
Good Luck!
