Some great news guys. On my third and fourth phones (not tries, PHONES), I finally found an incredibly easy approach to get the KDZ flash/upgrade working without having to downgrade or play around with download mode. Here are the steps I took , one by one. These steps have been confirmed on two phones: the first was the F350L running stock Kit Kat 4.4.2, and the second was an F350L running stock Lollipop (F350L20d, 5.0.1 Lollipop). The variations in both steps vary slightly depending on your OS, so pay attention please =3.
Requirements!!!
Before continuing, please ensure you have the LG Drivers installed as well as LG Flash Tool 2014. Both can be found here.
Additionally, you want to have the latest peachy clean KDZ already downloaded. I've used the D83820DTW, the very first one, very successfully all four times. Get the KDZ of your choice here.
Onwards!
Step 1:
Kit Kat Users: Root using Stump Root. After hitting Grind it'll ask to Brute Force. Do it, wait a while, and reboot (used latest APK at the time, v1.2.0; One Click Root and IORoot failed me).
Lollipop Users: Follow the instructions as written here. DO NOT SKIP STEPS! For rooting Lollipop you will have to use download mode, no other way around it sadly.
Step 2: Install SuperSU (if on Kit Kat, Lollipop gets it with root), Kernel Adiutor (or any build.prop editor), and Busybox (required for Kernel Adiutor, skip if not needed).
Step 3: Once required Apps are installed (and you've rebooted for necessary SU access), change the following build.prop configurations:
ro.product.model = LG-D838
ro.product.name = b1w_open_tw
ro.product.device = b1w
ro.build.target_operator = OPEN
ro.build.target_country = TW
(much thanks to @tjlabais for this valuable info)
If you installed Kernel Adiutor, launch it. BusyBox must have installed properly. On the left main menu is a build.prop editor, so tap that. Kernel Adiutor has a nice search function that lets you filter the build.prop variables, so search for "prod" and "get" for the first three and last two parameters respectively ("prod" without quotes will get you all settings that have prod in them; some scrolling required, but a lot less than without filtering; "get" yields only three or four results anyway).
Step 4: Reboot after editing build.prop and check after reboot if these variables have changed. The new values should be there now.
Step 5: Connect the USB cable and set the USB mode to MTP.
Step 6: Launch LG Flash Tool 2014 on your PC (run as admin to be safe; UAC turned off in Win8/8.1/10 never gives true admin access)
Step 7: Select Type as 3GQCT and PhoneMode as DIAG. Select the KDZ file. It'll look something like the attached file at the bottom of this post. Then click Normal Mode. In the new window, click Start. NOTE: This mode WILL wipe your data. I've done it four times now, it's legit, you WILL lose your data.
Step 8: A new window shows up. Country doesn't matter, but language in my experience does. Set it to English so that the output in the tool is all English, otherwise you'll get a bunch of question marks or Korean. Click OK.
Step 9: In the flash tool, the first process will complete after a minute, verifying Windows and whatnot. Then it'll give you an error saying that the connection the to server failed. OK that, and wait a few seconds. The button towards the bottom right will say exit at first, but then change to retry. Hit retry. If the software's frozen and not responsive, it doesn't matter, don't close it. If you're keeping an eye on your phone, you'll see that some magic's started.
Step 9.5: The phone will auto restart into download mode at the right COM port. No fiddling in Device Manager needed. The KDZ will upload automagically at this point.
Step 10: Watch the magic on your phone~
Step 10.5: At this point it's safe to leave the flash tool alone. Once your phone restarts into normal operation, your flash tool MIGHT crash. It does with me (Windows 10 Pro 64-bit). That's fine, cancel and close whatever was open. You're all set =3
Some tips: If your phone isn't connecting to Play Store for whatever reasons, just download the needed APKs (Kernel Aduitor and whatnot) and copy/paste/install them directly on the phone. My sister's Lollipop phone wasn't playing nice, probably because it was outside South Korea. Also, when you need to do lots of typing, this program called Vysor makes life easy by allowing you to control your android device remotely via USB. Just need USB debugging enabled and the PC needs to be authorized. Vysor is a Google Chrome app, so get it from Chrome's market. It's totally free, and damn useful.
Additional Information:
Root Access:
Pre-requisite: USB Debugging enabled and a USB data cable
As stated earlier, follow the instructions here completely to the letter, and you'll be a happy camper (mucho gracias to @Unjustified Dev).
NOTE: Make sure that when you run the Send_Command exe, it must be on the Com Port matching your DIAG mode.
Enabling LTE:
Pre-requisite: Root access with SuperSU and a build.prop editor (I prefer Kernel Adiutor, since I can use filter functions; requires installed and functional BusyBox install)
After upgrading to TW Lollipop, your phone is almost ready for LTE usage. However, the OS has the LTE option disabled. If you go into the hidden menu you'll see that the LTE options are still there though. Contrary to many online spec sheets that said that the F350L only supports three bands, I was able to get an unlisted band, Band 3 (1800 MHz), working fine. I managed to enable LTE by changing the following option in build.prop on Lollipop:
ro.telephony.default_network=12
Restarted and the Mobile Data / Mobile Networks / Network Mode option finally showed GSM/WCDMA/LTE Auto. Since then I've been enjoying LTE =).
PS: Don't forget to input your carrier's APN settings! Google is your friend, otherwise just call up your carrier's hotline and get the info.
Custom Recovery:
Pre-requisite: USB Debugging enabled, a USB data cable, and root access with SuperSU
The upgrade process discussed here doesn't take place through a custom recovery, only KDZ. As a result, even if you have root, you won't be able to flash zips, make dumps, or clear your cache so much.
Follow the instructions in this post to install the Chinese CWM recovery. After that, download this apk and install it (credit goes to @Hattori Suzuki for this valuable info). After installing this APK, run it and grant it root access. Tap the Flash Recovery option and you'll now have PhilZ recovery in English (thanks goes to @pereradileepa for this valuable resource)
Viper4Android:
Pre-requisite: Custom recovery and root access
I'm personally a big consumer of music, and can't do without having some tunes on the go. I found the sound on the G Pro 2 to be a bit too lacking in bass (especially when compared to my Optimus G E970), so I gave this a whirl. What ultimately worked for me was this mod (thumbs up goes to @AndrasLOHF for a wonderful contribution). Download it, put it on your G Pro 2, flash it via custom recovery, and V4A is installed.
To check whether or not V4A is working, open Viper4AndroidFX from the app drawer, tap on the three dots in the upper right corner, and go to Driver Status. If it says NEON Enabled: Yes and Status: Normal, you're good to go.
IF NOT, YOU MUST SET SELINUX TO PERMISSIVE!
There's a great app that you can get here that'll do so automatically for you, so just install that, set the mode to permissive, reboot, and check the driver status again (applause to @MrBIMC for such a great app). You should be good to go. Note that V4A doesn't work on all apps, at least for me. Google Play Music and Orpheus are the only apps that get processed by V4A. Neutron, Winamp, Onkyo HF Player, and N7Player just didn't play nicely with V4A. Ah, I think the YouTube app also works with V4A, I did notice a difference.
Tip: I hate how Play Music doesn't have folder capabilities, so I used N7Player to put music into the que, save it as a playlist, then open it in Play Music. For some reason, upon restarting the phone the playlist would disappear, so I opened the playlist I made from N7Player in Play Music and added it to a new playlist in Google Play Music that actually persists. For example, I save a que in N7Player as a playlist called Temp. I then open Play Music and find the Temp playlist in My Library. I open the playlist, tap the three dots and add the playlist items to a new playlist in Play Music, for example Favorites. When my phone restarts, the Temp playlist disappears from Play Music (it's still there in N7Player) but my Favorites playlist sticks just fine. Voila~
Happy headbanging.
A note on PhilZ Recovery: Any zips that I install give an annoying error about loki-fying. Ignore it, ultimately the zip that you wanted to install DID get installed. I've tested this with Xposed as well as V4A, and both cases I got an error on loki-fying. I tried turning it off in PhilZ but I have no clue what I was doing wrong, it wouldn't turn off, it still has an X in the Lokify option. Oh well, as long as it works.
Cheers!
Blitz9826
PS: Sorry if the details become too "thick." I personally hate having to read between lines wondering "WHAT DID YOU SEE AND WHAT DID YOU DO?!" I hope nobody reading this experiences such a feeling, thus the verbose details.
Hi, blitz. So basically you flashed the D838 TOT and DLL files on your F350 to get it running D838 KitKat and then flashed the D838 V20d Kdz to get D838 Lollipop, right?
I own a D838 and I'm familiar with flashing via TOT+DLL so, if I understand correctly, I could flash my upcoming F350 with the D838 TOT+DLL files -I used to return from 5.0.1 to 4.4.2- to turn it into a D838...
If so, will I have to make any changes in the buildprop beforehand, as mentioned in other posts? Or just go ahead with the TOT+DLL flashing?
Thanks for your help
Answered in parent post, but basically yes you can =3
I just took my colleague to the shopkeeper, he bought one too! Third phone is ready for playing around with. I'll update as I try a new approach. This time, I'll edit the build.prop file directly (last time I didn't on my mom's phone), and like with my mom's phone, set the USB mode to LG Software (I forgot to mention this part on the last post because..... 36 hours of no sleep does that to you), and let's see how that fares. If it does a KDZ restore directly from stock 4.4.2 to the Taiwanese 20d firmware then hooray. Also for fun's sake, I'll leave the COM port alone first. If it doesn't work then I'll change the COM port to 42. Still no then 41. And if still nothing, ffs, TOT-then-KDZ it is. More info tomorrow.
This phone is costing 18,000 PKR (that's like a little less than 180 USD).... for THOSE specs, holy ****.
Great news! Check the first post, I'm updating with new super-easy-as-fudge instructions.
Tried This With My F350S & This Works Perfectly. I Have Flashed This Download D83820D TWN Via Philz Touch Recover. Everything is Fine. Thanks Man.

Hi, tsohel. What did you do exactly? Today I received a F350S and, after editing the build.prop, tried flashing via zip and got Lollipop working but lost the double touch to wake up the screen. Also tried going back to KitKat via tot+dll and then flashed kdz with same result... I even installed Tizen 7.1 to no avail. I can't think of anything else to do, and knock-on and knock-code are a must for me...
Any ideas? Thanks

First Flash This KDZ F350S20b_00.kdz & Then Changed Everything This Tutorial Said & Then Flash The ZIP D83820D TWN Via Recovery lollipop-hoangtnt. Thats It. Everything is Working Great.
@inhalt sorry to hear you're having such a problem. I've done four F350L phones with the same 20d TWN firmware and two of those with the aforementioned method, none have lost the double tap to wake. Can you share your exact steps that you took please?
Well, I took them all I refreshed via TOT+DLL and then upgraded via KDZ, ZIP... They all worked but then I had the screen issues. Besides, reception is crap either on KitKat or Lollipop
I just think the phone is defective. Will be sending it back to the seller most likely, cause I've run out of ideas
I was actually thinking that might be the case. I didn't want to jump to conclusions though since you said it in a way that made it sound as if the double tap to wake and knock code were working stock when you first got it. So keep us posted when you get another phone.
Thank you for this complete guide.

I don't really understand what you mean by download mode doesn't do anything. Immediately after converting to d838, do not connect to the internet. neither wireless nor data connection. Put on developer option and USB debugging. plug via USB to a connected pc and make sure all drivers are installed. use an online root tool like kingo or root genius. after root success. go to settings and reset the phone. After reboot, you can then connect and install supersu from play store. Thats what I did. The problem I have now is I can't install any custom recovery.
I was saying that when i try to flash anything like rooting or rom on download mode it doesnt start the process. The only way that i did was by returning to kk then install lollipop again. I had the same problem with instaling an recovery but i followed these steps and worked. Heres the link:

Well Here Is the quick Easy Guide In How To Do This
-Fist we Need To Get The Tools To Perform This Operation
pulled From This Tread we need
1. Motorola Drivers For Either 32 or 64 Bits
2. RSD Lite, witch is a tool for flashing your phone.
3. The GOT Open Recovery ToolUpdate: Added Latest version from G.O.T.'S Blog
4.The Firmware Files From Got

EDIT: G.O.T. Has Added the burnerable open recovery to these sfb files so no need to flash it latter
-Now That We Have The Stuff We Need We are going to do it, fist i must say that unlike other roms that are applied by a backup restore (corect me if im whrong) this is a full flash and its going to reset everything so no apps will remain no setting will remain and is highly recommended that you uninstall every app you have, don't back them up(except for apps some apps that have a create backup file, those seem to work) just uninstall them, and when we are done have them installed again, Here Is A Tool That Will Help You Get There Faster
1.ok you have everything uninstalled right? now time for some action
2.install the proper divers (32 or 64)
3.install the RSD Lite tool
4.unzip the 2.2.1 FIRMWARE FILES you downloaded and you will find a ".sbf" file
5.now connect your phone to USB cable and turn it off
6.boot it in boot-loader mode (press the D-PAD UP key while pressing the power button), some night need you to release the button after a minute, a black screen will be shown on your phone and you will see the divers being installed on your computer.
7.when drivers are done open the RSD Lite tool and your device should appear you can click on it to see details.
8.now click on the "..." buttons that are close to the start button and look for the ".sbf" file, after a couple of seconds it should be ready to start
9.press the start button and do not unplug the cable or let your computer show the screen saver or go to sleep, the posses must not be stopped while it has started .
10.when the posses is done the devise will restart and voala, you have 2.2
-As GOT stands there are some bugs on the firmware and they have developed a fix to them and get root and overclock, here is what you have to do.
1. unzip the got open recovery tool into the root of your SD card
2.check this quote
NOTE: On some devices, we have encountered that rooting directly after flashing without rebooting after the initial flash can bring some issues with RootExplorer not asking for root permissions. To be safe, reboot after flash so that the “welcome to milestone” menu comes up, set up the device in general, then reboot to recovery and root the device as well as apply our 2.2.1 tweaks with Launcher, Services.jar fix and Wireless Tethering app.
Click to collapse
this means if the fist time your milestone got restarted and you saw "Welcome to Milestone" Message You are good an you can root.
but if you didn't then restart you phone and see if the message comes out, if not , a factory reset should have that scree message shown.
3. open the open recovery by pressing camera and power button at the same time while the device id off. you should see a scree with a "!" symbol on it then press fist volume rocker up button a leave it pressed then press camera button, some letter will pop out.
4. using the pad scroll down to "apply update.zip", after a couple of seconds the GOT menu should pop out (everything from now on uses the pad)
5.root your phone (why not)
6.go down to "Launch 2.2.1 Menu" Option.
7.Here you will see the "Fix Bugs They Are Talking About
One of the first things you should do is use the “Fix 2.2.1 bugs” selection in the new OR 2.2.1 menu after you flash the sbf file.
This tweak will fix some of the issues with the generic sbf build such as dual USB notifications, replacing some stock Motorola applications such as the old launcher/mediagallery and adding the Wireless Tethering application.
Click to collapse
8. there is the overclock too.
Now your device should have all the things you need to start playing with it,I encourage you to check on some tweaks the GOT team might have, and you might want.
I Hope This Was Helpful enjoy ^_^

something i don't get
I updated the firmware with RSD Lite, and used the one click tool, because:
whenever i try to hit update.zip i will get an errormessage, stating that these blocks couldn't be found -> ergo, the card not be mounted.
The HTC stuff i always managed, but this one is a mistery to me. Also, i did format fat32, pushed the stuff and then straight on bootup trying to hit the update.zip, without success.
I've read about how other people solved that problem, none of those approaches helped me.
Any hint is more than welcome.
2 bugs i've discovered so far: Battery drain like almost to be declared useless, some market apps "vanish" after installing them. I suppose those fixes would have done the job. I might attempt to use root explorer and execute the scripts like that, still I'd like to know why I'm unable to get the update.zip, resp. the G.O.T or any other "intelligent" boot menu installed.
Edit2: Even when installing the vulnerable sbf, i still get the error: E: Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 ....

Using a virtual machine (virtualizing WinXP) that has USB support (eg Oracle VM VirtuaBox, since VirtualBox OSE does not support USB forwarding) can do this pretty easy. So no worries when trying this via a VM.

weird...
I recently had a problem on my LG vortex. I had rooted and deleted some bloatware, then because I was upgrading phones, I thought I might sell my vortex for cash. So I did a factory reset. Much to my dismay I shortly found out that I had accidentally deleted the home screen from the phones factory memory leaving me in a boot loop. even a hard reset using default recovery wasn't working. After a day or so of research I found a couple of guides:
LG vortex downgrade guide - many thanks to Salem, as much of my guide is copied from his
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=883314
after a bit of tweaking I was able to recover the phone by following these steps:
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for *any* loss or damage (including bricking) to your device -- use this guide at your own risk!

if you previously downgraded your LG vortex from 2.2.1 to 2.2 chances are good this part is already done

2. plug in your phone (even in it's crippled state) it should autorun, and install some USB drivers
3. extract LGNPST.rar and run the LGNPST_General_v1.2_Lab_Version.msi this will setup to the directory C:\LG Electronics
4. copy/move LGNPST.exe to C:\LG Electronics
5. extract the LGNPST_Components rar file, this will make a directory with two MSI files in it - run these.
6. Go to C:/LG Electronics/LGNPST/ and create a folder called “Model”. Inside that folder, create another folder called “LGVS660″.
7. Extract LGVS660.rar. Inside this, you’ll find a VRZ folder. There are three files inside this: a .tot file, a .scr file, and a .dll file. Move these all into C:/LG Electronics/LGNPST/Model/LGVS660/ (the folder you just made.
8. If you’re on Windows XP, hit start, click on “Run”, and run this:
regsvr32 "C:\LG Electronics\LGNPST\Model\LGVS660\VS660.dll"
If you’re on Windows Vistas or 7, hit start, type cmd.exe, right click on cmd.exe when it comes up in the search area, and run it as an administrator. Type in the following and hit enter:
regsvr32 "C:\LG Electronics\LGNPST\Model\LGVS660\VS660.dll"
[setup complete] your computer should now be ready to fix your phone
Contrary to popular opinion on the many forums I perused researching this, I found that this software does *NOT* require your phone to be in debugging mode! it will see your phone if you simply plug it in at this point
[Flashing the phone]
1. go to C:\LG Electronics
2. run lgnpst.exe
3. if you haven't already boot phone and connect USB if the phone was already connected disconnect and reconnect it to make sure the software recognizes it.
Warning! do not disconnect your phone from the cable under ANY circumstances until the software tells you it's safe to do so!
4. try to directly flash phone back to factory. This will require you to select the .tot file from above under where the program is expecting a .bin file (you'll have to manually type in a filter in your file selection box) also select the .scr file in that same directory.
5. if that doesn't work go to the Data menu
6. select 'data recovery'
7. let that work it's magic and it should transfer to 'emergency mode'
8. select the .tot file and then the DLL for your phone
9. flash -- if everything works out your phone will reboot around 60% with everything on it
10. once the phone has booted completely go to menu and set phone to USB debug to stop the 'flashing' process this will allow you to safely disconnect your phone
ENJOY!!!
[emergency flashing]
*WARNING! the following methods are untested! above methods worked for my phone!*
Once again, do not disconnect the phone under ANY circumstances until the software tells you it's okay to do so!!
1. boot the phone in emergency mode by holding volume *up* and the back button at the same time (as I gather from the above mentioned xda post)
2. once in emergency mode it should be safe to continue from step 8. above.
[end guide]
Many thanks to those out there who helped me build this guide!! I hope it helps!! Now you should have the freedom to try removing all that bloat ware again. Hopefully, with a bit more discretion this time
In case anyone is wondering -- yes, I'm a n00b, and yes, this guide is for n00bs just like me
Advice?
Can this method be used to return a rooted/hacked/modified phone to FULL factory stock so you can return it for a warranty claim? IE- will it remove clockworkmod, superuser, and any other traces that you messed with the phone? Also, is this for verizon?
I had a lg vortex I had to return recently due to a blown speaker making my calls sound like a kazoo.
I DID root it (using gingerbreak)
I DID run some sketchy root programs like setcpu, wifikiller, root explorer, wifitether, and a few others
I originally ran ROM manager to backup my rom when I first rooted, but it said it installed clockworkmod (selected LG optimus V from the list and it worked) in order to run properly.
I have slowly uninstalled all of the software, used rom manager to restore my first backup, then uninstalled rom manager, installed gingerbreak, unrooted, uninstalled gingerbreak, uninstalled everything, then did factory reset from settings menu.
As of today the phone looks stock. No superuser. No sketchy programs, I'm just not sure if CWM or something else could have survived the factory wipe from the settings menu. I know superuser survives a factory wipe, so I'm not sure if I still have dirty files lying around. If verizon knows I rooted my phone it will cost me $309
Is that good enough? I don't want to return a device that has evidence files on it, but I have no clue if clockworkmod got uninstalled with rom manager or not. I never changed roms, I never knew how to boot into cwm, I don't know if it's still there or not. Advice?
EDIT: You should note that my phone is NOT bricked- the speaker is blown, so there should be no limit to the menus, functions, or software tweaks available which would be needed to fix my situation. Also it should be noted that I am not the type of person who condones returning a bricked phone to get another one- That hurts us all. Unbrick yourself using a thread like this or eat your mistakes.
hi, I recently rooted my phone with gingerbreak and uninstalled some bloatware from verizon. Then I couldn't see the home screen, although I can pulled down the status bar. After following your steps above and at running lgnpst.exe. I got the error message saying: Fail to load the Skin.dll. Do you have any idea? Thanks
been looking for you for three solid weeks!
dude, i've literally tried every posted forum in xda, androidforum, soul, phandroid, etc, downloaded every possible software, updates, utilities, recoveries, firms, and yada, yada, yada, and for the past three weeks i have past this one flippin' thread, over (no lie) 20 or so times. and please believe that your solution/explanation for this problem was really my last @#$#@## time i was going to EVER, and i mean EVER, download, install, re-install, re-name, re-write, place, copy/paste, throw-up, stroke, stomp-feet, and dosie-doe anything technology-based/wired-wireless eqipment in this young mans life again!!! so i thank you:victory::victory::victory::victory::victory::victory::victory::victory::victory::victory: and to ALL those not mentioned here (my apologies, but are still and forever will be in my prayers) for this and every single solution/explanations, that has ever been posted for dumb-a#$es like me. and for donating im trying to do that but recently messed up by using google's new/terrible wallet proccess. yes i know i should have used "PAY-PAL" but had already had money link to that GOD-aweful--theivery account. and for all those out there like me/us i will be posting my own thread/solution to this very same problem using my own words in a more in-depth description including all-props to you and for them not mentioned here (my apologies, but are still and forever will be in my prayers). thanks to you all and fyi im stopping here, oh no, i too, will become a master of all this hacking stuff, or i will become a master of destroying them all and then will have new problems for ya'll real hackers to nibble on.!!!

This looks really rough, but apparantly there is a boot.img, then other cracking tools can be used.
I'd love to try it, but... well... my chinese is limited to google-translate.
The URL won't post so this is a big hint:
products . mobileuncle . com / thread-202642-1-1 . html
I think I got it root on g302d u8812d

Currently on that URL is a approx 14 MB rar file download, I _think_ I just got it sorted!
I don't have time now to make this pretty, but some others who want to hack. add links, etc feel free to work with this...
in fact I dont know if all these steps are required.
General Broad steps (ymmv, you are doing this to your own dang phone, dont blame me for bricks viruses or earthquakes etc, etc/ etc).
on your computer, uninstall adb, pdanet and any other tools that use the adb drivers and dlls, reboot as needed.
install the mt6575 drivers (I forgot whether I downloaded these or if they were part of the 14 meg file) reboot as needed
power down phone.
remove battery from phone, don't plug into computer.
launch flash_tool.exe
load the included scatterloading file MT6575...emmc.txt
press the download button
plug in phone to usb
put battery in phone
watch the blinkinlights for a few seconds, wait for the big green O
then I disconnect phone and ensure power down.
install SDK
power up phone and plug in
test adb (adb shell)
kill adb server
download and install superoneclick
download extra superoneclick exploits
launch superoneclick
click the big root button.
Test (you can use something like rom manager)
Now people should be able to try to install various CWMs.
I haven't gotten that far yet.

installed gapps 20110828 (via mobileuncle recovery) and I now have a market that doesn't force-close!
still getting "partners" to force close, but a lot of other stuff is working.
Great work!!! I'll try this on my phone or wait until is working?
Are the recovery and rom in chinese?
Thank a lot for testing.

It is working very well.
No need for you or anyone to wait.
Just please know what you are doing (do you have basic understanding of recovery mode, roms, factory mode, and the dangers) in other words, if this is your first time doing this on a phone.. ask someone who knows what they are doing for help because I am not able to put together a documented procedure, but the findings above should allow someone else to do that. Additionally, I have no idea of the legality or safety of the software at URLs above.
conceptually this is 4 steps
1) flash boot.img that will allow cracking
2) crack to get SU installed
3) install Mobile Uncle Recovery mode and app
4) install gapps.
The MobileUncle recovery mode is Chinese, But the mobileuncle app is kinda like rom manager, it lets you set up what happens at next boot so you don't need to read the chinese in recovery text mode.
The patched rom is working for me in English with root, no detectable problem except FC on google partners (and I can't tell if that actually does anything). Remember this is not a new rom, just a patch to the huawei rom that allows a root crack.
There are about 4 chinese apps that I am afraid to uninstall..
one appears to be a chinese app store too, kinda fun to browse
gapps must be flashed with mobileuncle recovery (don't just unzip them)
US google play store is working.
I am fully migrated to this phone now and use it for daily work.
Good luck, and remember that this is why you got an android instead of a i-Thing.
Thanks thanks again. I'll try it and don't worry this is not the first time to modify a mobile. If it is all ok i posted here.
Working u8812d
Ok... It was successfully working on my phone. I have root and change recovery and then installing gapps. Almost of the apps is working of the play store. Thanks again and hope there is a release of ICS or JB rom for our phones.
See ya!!!:good:

Thanks for the steps though the problems are still coming thick and fast, I have a new U8812D from China, no China unicom splashscreen but lots of 'bloatware' still. I've been trying for days to root this thing and nothing's working.
I'm pretty sure I need root access becasue the phone is currently preventing me from adding my Gmail account and using the google play market and apps, other bits and pieces like assigning incoming call number to a contact are supposedly fixed by getting the google thing right. The phone is good but I'm missing alot of functionality.
If the above description sounds like rooting is not the solution, please let me know and point me to the right forum, if rooting is the obviously the only way out, I'm hoping to clarify a few step in the above walkthrough to help me and others.
1. I cant install the mt6575 MediaTek drivers, installing directly gives error 'driver cannot be installed this way' there is no COM-LPT port in my device manager to attach it to as a manually locate driver, I can add a COM port with add remove hardware but I have Code 10 error, device cannot start and doesnt seem to accept the mt6575 driver as an update even when forced to it with locate new driver, apparently this is no problem from other forums, still bugging me. Maybe I havent the right files? how do i get COM-LPT ports to show up properly?
2. when 'install m6575 drivers ... reboot' is the phone plugged in? to what device do we install the drivers or should it be automatic?
3. launch flash tool, i have located two versions of the MT6575...emmc.txt file, one delivers error, block count fail and has no files paths for the item in the main table, the other refuses to open, giving error, incorrect scatter file format. The latter has considerably more data in it when read in notepad.
4. Becasue of these errors, SP flash tool does not download to phone. all subsequent steps fail.
Assuming the initial flashing steps are successful, I must to use SuperOneClick to root the phone, where do I find the extra exploits needed? or are tehy automoatically sourced by SOC? Succeeding the root access step, I assume i can freeze the apps causing problems to my google sign in or delete them. Or could I please be directed to the ATTPlain rom mentionned by JohnnyParanoia in 'Almost All Huawei Stock Roms (Firmware) - Updated 28/06/12' board.
Since so many of the resource files I've trawled through are bung, anyone who can point me to reliable/tested files known to work with the U8812d I'd greatly appreciate in on top of the great appreciation I already have for your patience with a Noob. I located the 14Mbit .rar file mentioned above but not all parts worked, had to dl the different programs individually and some files had to hunt down form fileshare sites.
Lastly, i am using an HP laptop, Windows 7 64-bit, Thanks in advance.
Michael
Hi,
Since I didn't find a thread for The New PadFone Infinity (A86) aka PadFone Infinity 2, decided to create this thread.
Hopefully this top device gets noticed by developers.
Any MOD for audio? Low handset speaker volume?
As you might noticed, the speaker volume (notifications, ringtones, etc.) of NPFI handset is pretty low even when all volume sliders are maxed out and audio wizard is set to "Music".
I have a rooted device and installed Alsa Mixer from Play Store and tweaked the parameter "RX7 Digital Volume" from within the app. Changed default value of 85 to 100 and was pleased to get a noticeably louder speaker volume. Problem is that the value resets almost instantly and volume level gets back to its default value. Probably because Alsa Mixer installs its own audio driver (alsa amixer) which uses a separate system for assigning values and there is a protection system in place by Asus I think.
I also played with parameters in files below (residing in /system/etc/snd_soc_msm) - tweaked the RX7, RX1, RX2, etc...
snd_soc_msm_Taiko
snd_soc_apq_Taiko_DB
snd_soc_msm_Taiko_CDP
snd_soc_msm_Taiko_Fluid
snd_soc_msm_Taiko_Liquid
saved and reboot, but it didn't make a difference. So anyone has any idea to share?
P. S. As far as I know the audio engine for NPFI is designed by Wave and is called MaxxAudio, Is it possible that it has something to do with that?
Thank you for making much needed forum.
Hopefully soon there will be gathered all the essentials.

hi there, thanks for the update :good:
Hmm nothing major...
I wonder why the New Padfone Infinity has to wait the longest to get the latest version of Android...
Kingoapp
Kingoapp worked ok for me for root.
I had to reboot phone and a PC after a driver install, but that's ok.
Is there a sub forum for PadFones? Would be nice to have a place for this stuff.
There are some other places for PFs.

The new update 10.12.3.130 has a bug. Apparently Asus is working to fix the bug. Don't panic. Hopefully a bug fix will be released soon.
Now I wonder how ASUS ZenFone 6 works...

I must say I share your doubt. Possibly they are working on KitKat for NPFI, and ignoring the fix for now. Disappointing customer support management!
Its a shame that theres no developer support for the A86. Such a great device with no custom roms
KIT KAT Released for NPFI
Finally Asus released firmware update 11.2.5.12 for NPFI which updates its android version to 4.4.2
Download links are available at Support section of your device in Asus website.
Yes, I downloaded it and had mine updated, mine you all, 4.4.x has a known issue, that is all 3rd party apps cannot write to external SD, unless you root it and apply the fix, then either leave it as rooted or unroot it again.
Root 4.4.2 - Build: 11.2.5.26 (TW)
Hi

Thanks

Rooting Firmware 12.4.0.59 - Android 5.0.2 - A86
This post is copied from my own thread in padfoneclub.com so there is no case of stealing
If you want to copy this post on other forums please do not forget to give due credits to original poster.
Disclaimer! The procedure described below has the potential of rendering your phone useless if not followed properly. I DO NOT ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILITY WHAT SO EVER, IF YOU BRICKED YOUR PHONE WHILE PERFORMING THIS PROCEDURE. PROCEED AT OWN RISK!
This method is tested by downgrading firmware 12.4.0.59 to 11.2.5.26, which in turn needs a factory reset/ wipe data/ cache/ afterwards. Before anything else back up your important data (ie. contacts, messages, app data, etc) to some place safe outside your phone. ORIGINAL RECOVERY of your phone will be replaced by TWRP recovery
Preparation: (BEFORE ANYTHING REMOVE YOUR SIM CARD AND MICRO SD)
1. You must have USB debugging enabled, allow mock locations (developer options menu in settings)
2. You must have UNKNOWN SOURCES enabled (security menu in settings)
3. To be on the safe side I recommend you disable VERIFY APPS OVER USB, in developer options menu. You can re enable everything after the job is done.
4. You need to download firmware 11.2.5.26, and 12.4.0.59 according to your phone SKU and save it on your computer.
5. Download WINRAR or any archiving software which is able to modify zip files and install it on your computer.
6. Download unofficial TWRP ver 2.7.1.1 ONLY from this link, and save to your computer
7. Download BETA SUPER SU 2.49 from here, and save it to your computer.
8. If you are on firmware, 11.2.5.26, or 11.2.5.30 and rooted you are half way done, if not either you have to upgrade or downgrade depending on the firmware that now you are on. For example if you already upgraded to 12.4.0.59 you need to downgrade first and root, then proceed. There's a thread in padfoneclub which comprehensively discusses way to root Kit Kat firmware so I skip to just explaining downgrade procedure from 12.4.0.59.
9. To downgrade from 12.4.0.59 to 11.2.5.26, you do it in the usual way from recovery except you need to factory reset/wipe data/ wipe cache via recovery beforehand. REMEMBER TO REMOVE YOUR MICRO SD FIRST AND THEN WIPE OR YOU MAY LOSE YOUR DATA ON MICRO SD AS WELL! After wipe, reboot your phone and place the 11.2.5.26 zip in the root of your sd card by transferring downloaded zip from your PC.
10. Downgrade by choosing "apply update from sd card menu item" in recovery and selecting the zip file you just transferred to your phone. Remember to have at least 70% charge on your battery before downgrade or upgrade.
11. After the downgrade process completes your phone reboots, if it is stuck in ASUS logo for a long time (more than 10 min), switch off your phone by pressing and holding power button. Then reboot into recovery again do another factory reset / wipe data / wipe cache and reboot again. Now everything will be OK and your phone boots to initial KK setup. proceed until you are on the home screen. reboot your phone again.
12. make sure that items explained in step 1-3 are checked and unchecked accordingly.
13. Root your phone by your desired method.
NOW THE IMPORTANT STEPS TO UPGRADE TO A ROOTED ANDROID L 12.4.0.59
1. On your PC replace the "recovery.img" in the zip file for Firmware 12.4.0.59 with TWRP recovery that you just downloaded. Both have the same name and it is a simple case of drag and drop into zip file.
2. Now you have 3 important file:
- The modified 12.4.0.59
- The TWRP recovery you downloaded (recovery.img)
- The beta Super SU 2.49
Copy all 3 file to the root of your sd card in your phone.
3. Install "Terminal Emulator" from Play Store, open the terminal and give it root permissions if needed.
4. Type su
5. Then type
Code:
dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery bs=4096; sync;
(you can copy paste to rule out any typing mistake)
6. After executing the command a number of bytes transfers and the results will display in terminal window. close the window and reboot into recovery as usual, except this time you have TWRP recovery instead of original Asus recovery.
7. Go to "Install" button and select the modified 12.4.0.59 from your sdcard, uncheck "zip file signature verification" then "add more zips" and select beta super su 2.49. zip as well, then swipe to confirm flash.
8. If everything goes according to plan your phone will be flashed with the new firmware and rooted at the same time.
9. Reboot and enjoy!
10. I tried this method on my phone and it all went smoothly, but in case you get errors, you have to figure it out yourself, I WONT BE ABLE TO HELP YOU! AGAIN BE CAUTIOUS, FOLLOW STEPS EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED AND PROCEED AT OWN RISK.
OK so after reading a bunch on rooting the different firmwares I went ahead and gave the root a shot on our 935P running PK1. It was successfully rooted and runs with no lag whatsoever, no reboots, and LTE is working as well as voice and MMS. I did not make any of the needed files I just found them on XDA and put them to use. Please make sure you thank the devs for this would not be possible without them. Here are the steps I took:
1. Download the following items on your Windows PC:
A. ADB
B. Odin found at http://www.filedropper.com/princecomsyodin
C. Stock PK1 TAR
D. The engineer boot.img from the thread labeled root 10/25 found at http://www.filedropper.com/samsungg935xqcrootedboot
E. The SU install package from same thread found at https://download.chainfire.eu/970/SuperSU/SuperSU-v2.76-S7QC.zip
2. With phone in DL mode use Odin to flash all 5 items of stock PK1 TAR. Let phone boot up and activate on the network.
3. Download Package Disabler from Play store and use it to disable the following items:
A. Bootagent
B. Carrier Setup Wizzard
C. Chameleon
D. Com.android.carrierconfig
E. MobileInstaller
F. SAE
G. Samsung DM Phone Interface
H. Samsung DM service
I. Setup Wizzard
J. securityLogAgent
4. Power off phone and start in DL mode
5. After installing ADB open up Odin and click AP and select the engineer boot.img file
6. With phone in DL mode connect to PC and flash boot.img through Odin (once complete phone will boot up)
7. Once phone boots up run the Root.bat script. After a successful run the phone will reboot and SuperSU will be installed.
8. Download build.prod editor from Playstore
9. Use build.prop editor to change the following 3 items:
A. ro.cdma.default_alpha from chameleon to sprint
B. ro.cdma.default_numeric from 310000 to 310120
C. ro.build.characteristics from Chameleon to Sprint
10. GoTo settings, security, other security settings and turn off automatic updates.
11. Reboot
12. Install Wireless Tether Router from Playstore
13. After install open and set desired broadcast name and password DO NOT change anything else.
14. Turn your phone's Wifi on
15. Hit Enable Wifi Router and grant SU permission when asked.
Your 935P on PK1 is now rooted with working LTE, voice, MMS, and hotspot.
thank you very much for your help. i confirm that this solution works on PL6 stock and everything like you said is working. This is what i did.
i followed everything you listed except 3 things.
1) i needed stockfile for PL6 and when unzipped i used 4 files . for the csc file i used home, so it preserves data.
2) for part I i didn't know which wizard setup, lol so i disabled both.
3) i also added securityLogAgent. to the disabled list, because i kept getting that notification that if u click it. it reboots and gets rid of root.
thank you once again, and once again this is working on PL6, just make sure u download PL6 stock
going totry this on pl6 today. wish me luck. any more tips for trying this on pl6? what "home" file did you use?

What update are you referring to? I'm assuming 7.0? Any idea when it's coming out?
I got the update yesterday.
Could you link which package disabler you used? Some of them have been removing some of the packages that you can disable (im guessing from pressure from samsung).
Also, what did you do to get no lag?
Thanks!

How'd it go? Looking to do this on PL6.
Hey guys. Im having some problems with this method because of ADB.
I flash the boot.img but once I run root.bat it goes though everything fine until I get to the line "adb install -r SuperSU-v2.76.apk" an error appears from adb saying "Error could not access the package manager. Is the system running?"
Ive tried making it the specific path. ex: "adb install -r /sdcard/Download/SuperSU-v2.76.apk" and stuff like it. (Im also not sure if its installing the apk from the file on the phone or the folder on my PC.
Any help would be appreciated. Running PK1 S7 Edge Sprint.
on top of this my phone just vibrates and lands at the Sprint LTE screen while it doesnt do anything. This is probably the problem. But I have the same version as #1 so whats the problem?

I can confirm pk1 method works. Not sure about root on pj2.
After obtaining root from the OP I downloaded the current stable SuperSU 2.79 flashable zip. I flashed it from FlashFire. I received a security warning. Custom binary blocked by SECURE BOOT (boot.img). I then flashed the OP engineer boot.img in ODIN. this fixed the update binary issue, woot, and rebooted again fine.
I also got this to work on the third try on pj2. The first two were one hundred percent my mistake as both times I missed something very plainly stated in the OP. I would say to anyone experiencing difficulties to read over the threads where the OP files originate. That's what allowed my bone head to see what I was doing wrong. I can't believe I finally have root and hotspot! Thank you for all the hard work folks!
Oh man. Do you even know how much you helped me out. I have succesfully rooted 7.0 on my s7 edge. Will post tutorial soon, much credit to you sir you are awesome.
Edit:https://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-s7-edge/how-to/sm-g935p-spr-root-nougat-7-0-data-t3568780
I can confirm this works 100% on PK1. Thank you so much
Any of you have any tips on fixing the lag? I love root but might go back due to lag and battery drain
