Hi, I thought the second variable resistor (2nd; counting away from the spen button) is not important. for my spen it's located differently than yours; mine located beneath mini "bridge". Making it hard for me to twist the variable resistor.

I have the same issue with the mini "bridge", our pen is the same.
I tried to reach it with a needle or other small tool, but can not twist the second resistor.
Maybe you guys have more luck with this problem.
But anyways, thanks for this tweak and sharing. :good: Only adjusting the first resistor is fine for me. Dont use the button that often

good tweak just tried it and works perfect but like poster above i could not do the second one but the sensitivity is much better now
awesome! must try and see how is the effect.
Uh, this is the basic mandatory process for calibrating sensitivity and offset on any Wacom Pen, from the one in the Note devices to the 12.000 quid Cintiq....
It used to be listed in the manual when you bought a Wacom tablet, not sure if it still is.
The dials are called potentiometers.
The one closest to the tip of the pen adjusts the sensitivity.
The one closest to the cap adjusts the offset.
They are incredibly sensitive, and changes need to be made in tiny increments of at most 1 degree. Twisting it 90 degrees does absolutely nothing.
To those who prefer a step by step written guide, here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54772260&postcount=18

Yes, you can erase with pen or finger. You can also delete annotation by pressing on the annotation with spen and choose option to delete in a pop up window that appears.
This worked for both Galaxy Note 1 and Galaxy Note 2.
By eraser, do you mean the other end of the S-PEN with the eraser? S-PEN 8PI with eraser

Oh I see what you mean. "S-Pen with eraser" does look cool! Kind of pricy at $40 to have that capability. Although I might consider it if I lost my S-pen. Anyways, sorry, I misunderstood your question. I had just selected erase option when in ezPDF Reader.
Hi all.
I've reading and researching about using Tab 2 and a stylus, in every page or blog I found ppl keep saying "Install Touchscreen Tune". Unfortunatelly, touchscreen tune is not compatible with Tab 2 version.
Does anyone know how to get rid of this problem? Some console code, some parameter to change, anything?
I would really appreciate if you can help me finding a solution...
Thanks in advance,
Herman
Not sure what could be done. I had one and disliked it. Bought a $30 decent model too (and returned it) Even with the touch sensitivity on 10 it sucked.

i heard from vitalyj, the guy behind touchscreen tune, that samsung used the SYNAPTICS S7301 chip (which is incompatible with his app as of now) for the tab 2. The guys from cyanogen mod project wrote a driver for the chip at least for a s2 fork or something, i saw the code on github but i do not have enough posts here to post the direct link unfortunately
Its CyanogenMod / android_kernel_samsung_smdk4412 project, "synaptics: Add S7301 touchscreen driver " commit.
Could this help for a development of a similar app for the tab 2? Could one compile the kernel and post the console commands for the settings or is it too hard to do fast or a t all?
PS: Hello XDAforums!
Increasing the sensitivity won;t improve the resolution of the touch screen. If you are thinking you will get results like the Samsung note with S-pen, think again. These screens are made to work with fingers.

+1 Just setting min-movement from 10-20px to 0px or so, would help a lot. Now I'm just unable to "draw" small things because it requires a "big" movement to start painting. Of course, not that I bought the Tab 2 instead of the Note 10.1 to draw... but sometimes I'd like more precision.
Tried all apps, but it's the same. I hope someone gets around it. The Synaptics driver post looks promising maybe.
I have a tab2 and the best thing I have found is to use a fine point stylus. I then just use the erase to clean up. Unfortunately these tablets just aren't going to give a fine detail sketch. I have seen my friend knock out some good drawings by zooming in then out and erasing to clean up, l've had no luck.

I'm using the same cheapo stylus with my tab 2 7.0 that I bought for my S3. It works wonderfully on my S3 but horribly with the Tab 2. I can't Swype at all, it keeps losing contact. I need a solution. I have to press really hard with the stylus to select as well. I am honestly thinking of returning it.

Well said, also true.
I believe that if the above two parameters could be tweaked it would solve 99% of the touchscreen sensitivity issues with the 2nd generation G-Tabs, and would probably allow use of a stylus with good performance, instead of dismal performance.
GUTTED
This is just ridiculous! It's bad enough that you can't adjust the screen sensitivity but I just can't believe there some sort of hack to make stylus use acceptable!
Up to now I have been really happy with my Tab 2 but its inability to be used with a stylus has just destroyed the main reason I got it - for annotating PDFs with drawings & handwriting.
Extremely disappointed, I still can't believe it! Such a basic feature!
No-one has any thoughts?
I'm going to sell me Tab 2 and get something else. What do you recommend?
Just got my hand on a Note 10.1 GT-N800 with SPen on bottom left of the screen (must have been an early version).
I could not have the SPen working from the initially installed ROM ICS and kernel so I have upgraded to 4.1.2 N8000XXCLL3 and 3.0.31-Jelly/OC kernel.
But SPen is still not working.
I do not know who did originals mods on the device and now trying to recover the functionality. Everything else seems to be working fine (Phone, wifi....)
I was wondering if there is a way to access the kernel settings to enable the SPen, it seems to be a different hardware compared to the current one (galaxy note gt-N7000 type).
Non recognition means: no detection if the SPen is in place or not and no response when in contact with screen.
Any help welcome

S pen in on bottom lef scree and to your right side when you hold it, can you post the screen shot of your device info in settings.
Did you get the not new or second hand, irrespective of the rom install spen will work on custom roms in a limited way but will work just fine.
If it is not working at all that means there is something wrong with your device

So are you saying it doesn't work at all? You've tried to write in s note? In s noteyiu have to touch the screen once ln the page to activate handwriting.
From your photo it looks like the device has recognized that the pen has been removed by the little pen icon on the bottom right.
Why can't you just return and exchange it? If it's faulty they will replace it no problems.

I think its because your phone doesn't have a proximity sensor, maybe that's why Samsung added this feature.. because my old Samsung Corby had a similar (but far less annoying) feature like this...
So I don't think Samsung made an "Off" switch for this.. and the only way to remove it might be via framework or SystemUI editing.. look for a custom ROM for your phone with this feature disabled... and I'm sorry for not being able to provide you with the correct solution mate

Thank you Sami for your efforts. My original phone is S4, I just bought the GT-5282 yesterday, as it has 2 sim cards and I need that in my traveling. I opened it just today.
I have also 4.1.2 on this small phone, but you may be right, I do not see any thing beside the loud speaker at all, so it does not have a proximity sensor, but I do not see how this lock will help in such a case.
Custom ROM may be the solution, but I could not find here, or on Android forums anything about this GT-5282, they are not mentioning it at all.

Thank you Sami for your efforts. My original phone is S4, I just bought the GT-5282 yesterday, as it has 2 sim cards and I need that in my traveling. I opened it just today.

Yeah, this is the problem with many mid-range or low-range phones.. There aren't many people who use this phone.. and most of them are probably average users and not Android geeks or developers...
Anyways, Proximity sensors are important for a smartphone or any touch-screen phone.. Its important because it detects how close the screen of the phone is to your body. This allows the phone to sense when you have brought the phone up to your ear. At that point, the display turns off in order to save battery. It also stops detecting "touches" to avoid unwanted input, until you take the phone away from your ear... Nowadays most phones have it and since this phone doesn't maybe that's why Samsung added that feature instead..
And yeah, you don't have to type "thank you" to thank me.. just clicking on that "thanks" button is enough
