Anyone? Anything? I'm currently 10 days in, phone had 26% battery last time I checked... I feel like this could go forever!
Little bump. Just in case...
have you tried to force reboot your device, press and hold the Volume down and Power/Lock keys on the device for 10-20 seconds. This performs a simulated battery disconnect. It worked for me when my phone got into a bad state. I was stuck in the kernel bootup.
Yeah that doesn't work, no button combos will. Sucks.

When you plug it in, does the charging light come on?
How long have you tried holding the power button for? 10-15 seconds should give you a full reboot...but if nothing happens then it could be frozen, in which case you will have to let it sit until it drains.
no power
yes..when i plug it in the red lite is on...i have held the power button for 10 to 15 seconds and tried power plus volume up..still nothing
I second the "Letting it sit until the battery drains" worked for me once.
how long
thanks for the quick reply..one last ?...how long does it take to drain battery completely?

Depends on how much charge it had to begin with. I would guess about 10-15 hours with full charge. If you get really impatient and dont want to wait, you can take the back cover off and push the reset button.

From 85%, assuming your battery stats are correct then I'm going to say it won't be drained fully until maybe tomorrow evening or night and even then it may still have juice. The problem is we don't know what state it's frozen in. Is it frozen with the processor speed reduced? Is it frozen because there's a rogue app and it's flexing the processor? No idea.
VS REALLY dropped the ball with not having a removable back plate as well as no access to the reset button.
Ah well.
Good Luck.
Try volume down then power button. This worked for me once.
let us know how it goes
You may of already tried this, but....
Did you try holding the power button for 15 - 20 seconds? If so letting it completely drain may be you only option left.
Update you ROM to one of the newer ones. I have read of this happening to others running one of the older ROMs.
problem with power up on gtab
i solved the problem with the gtab not powering up ...

My Transformer was working fine, battery fell below 9% so I put it to sleep and plugged it in...
Now the device will not turn on, back of unit is getting warm?
Well, the warmth will be the battery charging. No issue there.
See one of the half dozen threads about not turning back on.
It came back to life, after holding the power button still seemed dead, then i plugged in a HDMI cable and it turned on.
My power button is finicky... every thing else seems perfect...

Mine does this. You have to power off completely. To do that, you must hold the power button for more than 10 seconds to turn it off. Wait a bit, then power it back on by holding the power for 5 seconds.
I've searched around and people say it's the lock screen that causes the screen to blank. But I don't think that was it, I disabled it and it still does it.
Next someone says it has something to do with WiFi, I don't think this is right also because it has happened at times when I had the wifi OFF.

Are you saying before charging you power it off completely or always?

No I'm saying to do that when your screen is blank and can't turn on
Hi all,
My Nexus S has been acting strange these past few days. It started when I let my battery completely drain the other day. After rebooting it, the power button wasn't acting properly (sometimes it would go to phone options and other times it wasn't responsive at all), but since I have cm7 I just used my volume rockers as my power button. Additionally, some of my preferences and settings were wiped on my ADW launcher, which isn't a big deal. Last night, I let the battery drain again, and I haven't been able to fully boot since. First of all, it wont even boot unless I'm plugged in. When it does boot, it's caught in an infinite loop during the cynanogen 7 loading screen (the skateboarder and the rotating arrow). I tried to boot in safe mode with volume up + power button, and it gets to the safe boot screen but I can't use my volume rockers to move the cursor up or down. Needless to say, I'm pretty stuck here. If you guys have any suggestions or ideas, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks a bunch!
It sounds weird. It could be an hardware problem. Maybe battery-related
Do you have another battery to put into your phone to try it out? Maybe since it completely drained it was corrupted, i think i heard in the past to never completely drain Li-Ion batteries to avoid problems...
Meanwhile you can try putting it on charge for some hours and then see if it awakes
unfortunately i don't have another battery, and i've left the phone to charge all day but i'm still getting the same result.
I'd try pulling the battery out for like 30 seconds then put it back.

So I was using CM9 RC Build after switching from AOKP. Nothing going wrong with my phone, nothing funny when suddenly I go to sleep with my phone on the charger and wake up to the phone being extremely hot with a white outlined battery showing that it's charging. Whenever I hold down the Power Button it Vibrates once and does NOTHING. Taking the battery out and putting it back in results in one vibration and nothing else. Just a black screen.
All I had done last night was sit my phone down as usual and get some sleep, and wake up to this.
EDIT: Okay, nevermind. It seems to not have charged one single bit...Sorry!
Hi everyone. Today i was chargin my phone at PC using a no-name usb cable. I've noticed while it was charging that the screen kept turning itself on and off. When i finaly took the phone, the screen was unlocked and when I tried to press the home button it did nothing but taking screenshots (like the power button was stuck). The power button was not wroking either.. After I took out the battery and restarted the phone, the power button didn't work at all. Tried to clean it off using this method but it did not work. Tried to clean the power off button using a method i've seen on google (can't post the link since i'm a new user) but its still not working
I'm desperate, please help
Are you sure, that the problem is only the power button? I have sometimes problems with this phone too. Sometimes you can't turn it on.
Try taking the battery out for at least one hour - then try to start it. I had always success with this.

The batter has proven me to be fcked in the last week, had lots lots lots of random turn-offs and restarts. But for more than 5 hours the power off button didn't work.
I'll let my batter out through the night.
Thanks for reply.
PS: I'm running ARHD 7.3.

The restarts can also result from a loose battery. Try putting a folded piece of paper between the battery and the upper casing of the phone, so the battery is pushed against the pins. This is a well-known issue. It helped me a lot. Before I had also lots of reboots.
Yep, did that in the last 1,5 year and the random reboots stopped. But as i've said, now it happens even tho' i have a paper that keeps the battery steady.
Lol just took the phone to see if the power button works and currently i'm talking screenshos pressing the home button .

How did you turn on your phone if the power button doesn't work?
quaver erprilr
I take the battery out, put it back in and after a few seconds the phone turns on.

Well, this isn't normal. Is your power button constantly pressed?
Try the following: Hold the volume down-button while inserting your battery until the phone boots up.
Does it boot into the boot manager?
Just woke up, plugged my battery in and the power button worked almost normally. Could've pressed it 5 minutes and after that and a restart it didn't work anymore.
This means I should buy a new battery and everything is fixed? Are the Anker batteries worth it ? Or do you recommend me a HTC EVO 3D battery ?

You can use the battery from the Sensation XE, which has 1.700mAh instead of 1.520 (or 1.560). At the HTC-Store they are about 50 € here in germany.
Always buy original batteries! Not the cheap ones from eBay. They usually don't have a temperature sensor, so the phone can't shut down, when it gets too hot while charging. This can be very dangerous.
I haven't got any experience with Anker-Batteries - sorry.
Pressed the volume down button and it got me into the boot menu (just like the power button is kept pressed).
Do you think that if I change my batter it will fix my problems ? Also noticed that my battery is altered, aka its not flat but swollen.

If it is swollen, it is definitively broken. Mine had the same symptoms...
I'm pretty sure, the powerbutton-problem isn't related. Does the button feel normal, if you push it? Or is there no "click"?
Maybe you can repair it with a needle by lifting the foil a tiny bit.
i dont think you need a new battery, same problem occurred with my phone, done some DIY fix and written that in a post for fellows like you in search of help.
here is the link to it:

A new battery has fixed it.
No problems with the phones until now. It works perfectly

Unbelievable!!! Thanks for the link above - it worked for me, the power button is fixed...
