Stock browser missing - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note5

I noticed I don't have the stock Samsung browser. Only chrome was pre-installed. Is this a T-Mobile thing or should i have it?

It's in your app drawer and the icon name is "internet".
Sort your app drawer alphabetically so you can find
the apps easily.
Would have been helpful to let everyone know if you are
talking about a particular custom rom or stock firmware.
Good luck,
Have a great day!

Thanks for the response. I'm running a completely bone stock Note 5. I've searched thru my phone and I don't have it.
It's not a big deal because I use chrome most of the time anyway, however I find it weird not to have the stock browser.

What firmware do gou have on your N920T? On my N920T every firmware I have ran since it came out has had the stock browser. I thought only the Verizon variant removed the stock browser in place of Chrome.

Problems with droid charge?

Anyone having performance issues with their charge? I had high expectations for this phone but im getting lag in just about everything. . IE this forum scrolling through threads is way laggy compared to fascinate. Im not sure if I have a bunk phone or if the hardware sucks or if its the ROM just sucks. Any hope for this phone?
No I'm noticing some laggy browsing as well. Coming from the Droid Incredible i figured this would be much quicker. At times I think 3g on it was faster than wifi on this. Im sure it'll speed up once the cache builds up for the sites i browse. I also notice my linpack and quadrant scores are pants on this. I would love root and a new kernel but that damn ota seems to be holding us back.
My guess is its the charge's browser. I read reviews where it has bad problems with sites with a lot of flash (such as the ads). just tried this site on both the stock browser and dolphin browser and dolphin browser works fine.
It was nearly unreadable on the stock browser. So try a browser from the market.

You're right, browsing on Dolphin seems much faster. It does still hang at the end but it isn't nearly as bad.
Also, while I know its a completely different phone from what I had, the keyboard and auto-correct drive me absolutely mental.
Auto correct can be turned off in menu->settings->keyboard
I just noticed that I have two burnt out pixels .. ack. bright red dots, mostly noticeable on boot screens.
I think it's the ROM. Everything seems sluggish / lags randomly on my charge. So far it really feels like touchwiz is to blame, but I imagine the filesystem is partially to blame.
It really sucks that my year old Incredible seems faster than a brand new "flagship" phone.
I removed alot of bloatware installed launcher pro and Opera mini, then I also removed Touch wiz and the phone is alot faster. Installing launcher pro and then removing/renaming the touch wiz apk made a big difference performance wise. I have no lag when using the interface now. And yes the stock browser is crap, I thought it was the phone as well, but after installing Opera I notice a big difference.
what exactly does the TouchWiz app do? What do you lose by freezing it?

TouchWiz is Samsung's launcher. Do NOT freeze or remove it before downloading an alternative (such as LauncherPro) and rebooting to activate it. Otherwise ODIN will be in your immediate future.

Oh Okay, well, I have to ODIN anyways if I decide to root, I had not read the forums yet before accepting ED2 the day I got the phone. I use LauncherPro anyways, but that's good to know.

yes, that happened to me earlier today! hahaha.
Just picked up the Charge on Saturday..coming from a rooted eris. .did notice a little lag. Immediately installed launcher pro and noticed quite a difference.
One thing i notice is the menu keys do not light up..making it a little difficult to use in the dark. Any one else experience this and find a solution.
Thanks

I believe the keys not lighting up was also the default behavior for the Fascinate, and that was resolved with a custom kernel. This may be inaccurate, as I came from the Droid X, but luckily the key layout is identical so I didn't need any time to relearn.

[Q] Dumb Question about browser tabs

So sometimes when I am using the Gingerbread browser, I will touch the screen in a certain way and a "tab" interface pops up. I can't for the life of me figure out what the actual swype command is that is bringing up this screen. Does anyone know?
Lol stock browser.

It might matter what browser you are using (TW or AOSP)
Many thanks for the helpful replies so far. I don't know if it is TW or ASOP. I'm on the Humble 5 rom. ASOP I guess since it is a ROM.... I have never heard the distinction until now.

I am not exactly sure what you are talking about, the GB stock browser does not support multiple tabs or gesture input. As for humble 5, it has not been updated in some time, I don't even think there is a thread for it on XDA anymore is there? It seems tweak stock is generally thought of as the improved successor to humble, I've found. Well to each his own!
May I suggest that you use an alternative to the stock browser? Most android users use an alternative browser from the market, because the stock browser is laggy and it sucks, and 90% of the browsers on the market are much faster, support more features/customization, and are free. I would personally recommend dolphin browser mini or hd. It supports gestures, multiple tabs, is super fast, is free, and handles flash quite well. Check it out.

ICS Browser+ Have you tried it?

Ok so i was in the market getting the ics messaging app when i came across this!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.beansoft.browserplus
I've been using it since and its the best browser ever! Has all the features of dolphin but not choppy and it has the labs like the tablets! The true ics Browser like the aosp. Only thing is i haven't been able to add it to system yet, so if anyone does come back and post how you did it.
Hope you guys like it!
Oops! Ment to post this in themes & apps. Mod can you move this please. Appreciated
Remember using it before chrome release, pretty good browser. It's based on the stock browser of the galaxy nexus and is pretty good but I think chrome is a little bit better. The stock browser of the Galaxy Note is also realy smooth and great!
This is not development.
Shouldn't go here.

Did you read the last thing i wrote or did A.D.D. kick in lol! I asked them to move it.
lol, they moved it from the ATT Note Dev forum to the International Note Apps forum .
It detects a hovering S-Pen as well and highlights the items below it. Nice touch.
Seems like a good browser.

Which browsers are you guys using (For ICS Xoom)

Is Dolphin HD still the preferred method ?
Stock browser?
Chrome? doesn't do Flash though.
What else?
I love ICS Browser+. It is the stock browser with more options and tweaks. You can add a third ring to the Quick Controls. (best thing about stock browser, I never have to do anything but move my finger slightly to control all navigation). It is in the labs section. Quick Controls. On ICS Plus Browser it is just under Quick controls.
I use Dolphin for things still. But in general I have my ICS Browser+ set for PC mode and just use it for almost everything.

I did try Opera and Dolphin but both of those seemed to have issues with the BBC iPlayer. The Dolphin one, for example, would not go full screen. So I have gone back to using the Browser+ as that seems to work fine.
I'm loving Chrome, use it on my xoom, gnex, and all my pcs. The sync function is awesome.
Chrome
Dolphin
Ics browser +
Opera
Overskreen. This one is the best floating browser.
Sent from my MZ601 using Tapatalk 2
I've been using the stick browser mostly. It's seems to work well on my Xoom. I'm going to give the ICS Browser + a try though. Just looked at at on the market. Looks nice.
I use Chrome as my main browser, because it syncs bookmarks.
But for the occasional time I need flash on my xoom, I use the stock browser.
Quick ics browser
Quick ICS browser+ is way better than ICS browser+. For pages loading nothing can beat Opera Mini but it doesn't load every images on certain websites so i use quick ics.
Sent from my MZ604 using xda premium
I tried, Opera, Chrome, ICS+, Stock, Boat, Maxthon, but i keep coming back to Dolphin HD. I think that once Chrome is officially released, i might drop Dolphin.
seems im the only one using opera mobile in my ics xoomstock was also nice but opera with sync rocks big time!
This is just the type of thread I was thinking about posting, I never got the chance though. I'm currently using ICS Browser+ but this brings up some questions I've been having. I recently got my Motorola Xoom and I love it!
The reason I'm using ICS Browser+ is because I can change the user agent. Right now I have it set to iPad otherwise pages just load mobile versions. The other question is, is it just me or does Google Chrome on Android stutter and show a lot of white when scrolling quickly?
Chrome also doesn't allow user agent switching and also only loads mobile desktop websites which is kind of surprising and really upsetting. I'm hoping Google changes it to load desktop websites by default.
Any suggestions for a new Xoom user?
Thanks all.. I'm trying out ICS quick browser, it is nice, but wow, one of the biggest reasons IMO for android tablets>Ipads is FLASH.
and the ICS quick browser + doesn't seem to do flash at all..
Meanwhile dolphin HD , seems to do it just fine, but I do like general browsing better on the +
sucks!
And Chrome simply will NEVER support flash, so thats done with too
Chrome+Flashify to redirect all flash content to Browser=THE solution. There simply IS no other solution. I wish Google would just put Flash into Chrome, but it's not their choice seeing as Adobe is Apple's *****.

Safari on my Ipad , is dog****.
It's horrible, it freezes, lags and just plain sucks.
Not alone with that problem either.
Every tablet has its issues imo, but so far this thing is rock solid

I've noticed that, too, on my friend's iPad which I occasionally use. Chrome got an update which is (mostly) awesome! Way smoother, and pages load quicker for me! Only bad part is the new icon... In the Play Store it shows as the same, but on actual devices the colouring is faded, fugly, and gringey... I want the old icon back! The red looks pink-ish, purple-ish, and the green is puke green... Yellow is dingey as well. The white gradient is also coming from the left of the top instead of the centre... I'm kinda disgusted by it... It looks better on my Nexus S 4G because SAMOLEDs are oversaturated, but it's still a good 1,000 times more dingey! It's soooo much uglier, but I love its speed...

My New Tf700.. Noobs questions

Hi xda forum! I'm new, my name is Stefano, italian.
I bought my new Infinity Pad and i have some questions, 'cause it's my first android device.
I noticed that the device isn't so smooth, especially in navigation. I can't understand why! Do i have to do something (factory reset? it's new...).
1- What's the best browser to get?
2- What has to be done to flash a custom rom? i read the guide, but i'm still confused ; in order to flash a rom i have to: become root, unlock bootloader, install recovery, and then how to install the rom? (zeus v4)
3- If I flash the zeus rom, how can i upgrade to jelly bean when the update comes out?
Thank you very much
1) The best browser is mostly depending on what suits the user. I prefer chrome because i use it on all of my devices and computers. Some people prefer the stock ICS and JB browser, others use opera, dolphin or firefox. (those are the top 5 browsers of choice)
2) Before you flash a rom you do need to be rooted, bootloader unlocked and a custom recovery needs to be flashed. flashing a rom isnt the hard part, its making sure you obtain root and unlock the bootloader which is more tricky. although, there are risks and things to be aware of when flashing different rom.
3) if you flash zeus's rom then you wont be able to receive the OTA update. you will have to wait until someone posts a rooted and unlocked version of the OTA.
read up on the forums about rooting and unlocking bootloaders and understand what it does BEFORE you start doing it. you need to understand all the potential risks involved and get familiar with ADB and its basic commands. when you start rooting and unlocking bootloaders you may run into problems and brick your device. with it being your first android device, i suggest you take the time to learn android and what kind of features it offers before you dive into changing system files and flashing roms.

Try the Dolphin browser from the play store it's flash capable and seems very speedy of late.

First of all: all of the above in the answer of Vegandroid is correct.
Some also say Boat browser is the fastest and (overall) best browser yet for the tf700.
Maybe you should reinstall Flash, since the stock browser should always display Flash correctly.
Hope this helps!

I solved the problem downloading from a different source the .apk .. Now all works fine.
A different matter instead is that i noticed some stuttering in scrolling pages (in browser, supernote ecc ecc) it seems like it suffers from bad management of animations .. for example when i scroll a simple pdf file it isn't very smooth.. is that normal?

I don't see a lot if any stutters with mine.
Try to use task manager to kill off anything running in the back.
Go into settings and try to disable some of the crapplications you can do without too.
These were suggestions from other guys here at XDA they helped me a bit.

The first thing I do with any of my android devices from ICS on is go into Settings/Developer Options and either reduce animation settings to none or at least to .5. This helps to increase smoothness in scrolling.

Already done .. Maybe is just me , i'm not handy with android os and i can't tell how much the lag is.. i also disbled some stock apps.. i feel like some animations aren't smooth at all.
Android 4.0 isn't as smooth as iOS. It gets better with 4.1 but it's hard to tell how much improvement we'll see on the Infinity.
And I would stay away from taskmanagers. Android can handle that on its own most of the time. If an app is misbehaving its enough to kill it in the settings/app section.

honestly, i hate apple... i have an iphone 4 and a 4s but i dont think android will be as stable and smooth for a little while. they have an os thats optimized for one phone, one ipod and one tablet. all of these different devices that android runs on has to be optimized specifically. i hate to be that guy to say that because i will never use apple products other than to test them and play with them, none are used as daily drivers. ill go back to using my lg double play before using an iphone 5.

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
yes, i was playing with one yesterday at work. i have 4.1 on my s3 and its sweet and smooth. ios just doesnt have the kind of software issue that android does, gpu rendering is still not fully optimized for android devices. thats no way keeping me from using android, but its not like ios is a completely **** os compared to android.
EDIT: also to the dude who wanted to get flash working.... pointless to do it now because once JB is released adobe isnt supporting it.
