I am trying to turn on GPS on a SMS BroadcastReceiver on a rooted device without any dialogue box asking user to turn it on manually. Actually it is a anti-theft application project so I am turning on GPS when user is not having access to the device with the help of SMS. I am able to turn on mobile data on SMS BroadcastReceiver but not finding any solution for GPS.
I found this: https://github.com/sms2000/GPSToggler
But I am not able to figure out what to do with this code and how to implement it in my project as there is no documentation available.
I need help for turning on GPS as it is required to track the device.
I am a newbie in android development and developing only for college project.

It used to work about a month ago.
Whenever I went to the mall, or this one coffee shop, and also at 7-11 outlets, I would get the notification "Sign in to wifi network", then I get redirected to their login page when trying to visit any webpage in my browser, I sign in, and I can connect after.
But I have been playing around with my android in the past month
- installed AFWall+ to allow only Opera Mini to connect on 3G
- installed ProxyDroid to view the traffic on one of my games (and to get infinite gold lol)
- added Charles Proxy certificate
- installed and uninstalled XPosed framework
- other stuff
And I just recently realized, I never get the "Sign in to wifi network" notification anymore, and I just get a cannot connect error on the browser.
It seems my phone's ability to sign in to captive portals has been completely broken somewhere along the way. It used to work 100%, now NONE of the places work.
Is there any way I can fix it?
Phone: DTC GT-18 Sparkle (Mediatek chipset)
OS: Vanilla OS that came with the phone (4.2.2 Jelly Bean)

Ok, thanks.
Here's the situation;
I'm testing an application and I need to set the date on the phone to a point in the future. The phone needs to be connected to a router with internet access in order to test the specific feature.
I have the automatic time and date settings turned off on the device and can set the date. The problem occurs when I attempt to connect to the router. Within moments the date reverts back to the current time and date.
Is there any way to override this? My gut tells me that I need to change the setting on the router, but I'm not 100% certain.
(Also, if this isn't the correct place for this query, could someone point me in the right direction?)
-Thanks.

I recently,(as a novice!), ran an ipconfig to see if I could deduce why my wired connection was sucky. I discovered what it seems is a piggy back on my network. I logged into my modem to make sure ipv6 and other perts were disabled and haven't been able to log into my modem since. (Hacker locked me out?) Anyways after following permissions through various apps, programs, cms prompts, PowerShell, etc it seems I have a ghost machine on my pc,(STILL NOVICE-ish!), and I am trying to track it down. Because of my suspicions on who it may be I am not ready to call law enforcement for help. Any advice is appreciated! I used to work from my pc, but my security software provider was unable to help cause ,I think, my email is being re-routed and screened, and since I work with sensitive info and all my devices were set to keep me from finding answers I needed(permissions, and url redirects) I am crying for help. My savings is gone and I need to be able to work on the computer! Thanks!

Hi, I've spent the last 2 days searching for an app which will turn off mobile (cell) data once a limit has been reached. The app must have some sort of password / pin lock so it can't simply be turned back on after the limit has been reached.
Settings which also allow you to tell it which day of the month to reactivate the mobile (cell) data.
Reason for this is, I have a teenage daughter who I am considering getting an s6 or 7 for her birthday but the only affordable price plan comes with 1gb of data but the network doesn't cap usage from their end and I don't want any unexpected bills.
If I have to root / install xposed, I don't mind as I have prior knowledge on how to do all of that, I just haven't stumbled upon anything which will do what I'm asking.
Hope someone can help!
Thanks,
Chiller.
