I have an app in my drawer called "Messenger" - it has a red icon with a white text bubble and plus sign in it.
I don't use this (I use google voice and the messaging app only.
I can't find this app in TB to freeze it. Anyone know what app it's called in there for me to freeze?
Pretty sure that's Google plus. Try that

oh... maybe. i want google plus though. this may be part of google plus though and so i may be stuck with it.
Ya that's part of Google +
Most launchers will let you hide apps from your app drawer. That's what I did to it.

So after updating maps now wants me to give it location access before it will work.
Having trouble here - been searching for hours, can't figure it out... and haven't been able to find the answer here.
Anyone know how to give maps location access in JB on most recent stock?
Thanks!
Try going to accounts - - - goggle - - - - location access and make sure that slider is enabled

Hello, everyone! I have seen this mentioned in a few of the posts here in this community but no one had posted it as a thread.
Just wanted to post this here in case you might be interested in tweaking stock Touchwiz without needing a custom recovery (which we do not have yet). I have confirmed a lot of these tweaks work (mostly the theme tab)...some of the tweaks I did not have a use for so I did not test. Please test at your own risk and report back if something does not work for you! Neither Wanam or I are responsible for any issues you may run into...use at your own risk! Have fun!

Yes! Please donate to Wanam! With this module there is zero need for a custom ROM. So amazing!
I think I did something wrong because when I changed the colors on the notifications they didn't change

There should be a button in the top left you have to enable. Once that's enabled it should show up for you.
I have mine rooted but the last time I did this and rebooted (I installed the framework and wanum) it crashed touch wiz upon reboot and I was Sol.
Any instructions on how anyone installed this without the crash?

I installed the framework and rebooted. Then downloaded Wanam thru the Play Store and enabled the module in Xposed and then rebooted. Then I went in and made my changes in Wanam and rebooted again. Lots of rebooting LOL but I had no errors at all.

Thanks tropazr . That worked for me. I did a clean reboot before starting this process just in case. Now I'm able to play with a lot of settings! It's like a custom rom a la carte!!
hot boot instead reboot, ull save some seconds

If it wasn't fur this app, I would have returned this phone, thanks who ever developed it.

As long as you reboot after exposed before you install Wanam you can do all the tweaks in Wanam without rebooting of course you do have to reboot before any of them take effect.
Also be careful with some of the tweaks that have to do with actual operation of your phone concerning calls and whatnot I found them to lead to boot loops on this device time to time. As the original poster mention the ones in the "Theme" category are generally safe. Should you messed something up and going to a bootloop just re root you'll be fine.

So i think installing MobileIron and my companies admin settings are conflicting with Wnum and I am again facing a soft reboot. Starts up but immediatley crashes. How do I get to ADB so I can disable wanum?
Anyone have any clue on how to theme the brightness slider?
Can someone check to see if your S Health still works after using Wanam? I'm trying to narrow down the tweak that breaks it.
edit... So it seems that Xposed breaks it for whatever reason.

I can't really list all of them, but I have all of the theme mods done, the hangouts over 3g mod, a couple sound mods, disable increasing, skip tracks, disable the camera and boot, fake system status..... Is there any specific tweak that you want me to check?

Hey on the S6 is there anyway without root to disable the floating notifications that reads out every message and scrolls across the screen?
I know some apps have this in their settings ex : groupme... But i specifically use hangouts for txt and IM.....
Anyone?
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Free mobile app
yea i want to know how to do this too. those floating notifications are super annoying especially when watching videos. but looks like there's no way without root though.
Damnn...this sucks. I switched back to my rooted nexus bc this was so annoying!

I'm pretty sure that setting controls all popups but I don't use hangouts. In messages, click more to get options. Then click on notifications. There are settings behind it

With HeadsOff lollipop heads-up notifications can now be disabled!
No root needed.
You can also restore the ticker text in the statusbar!
Give it a try:
Download from Playstore
XDA thread
What about preventing text messages from turning the screen on every time one comes in? Any idea how to get do that?
If you rooted you can edit csc files to do that
Has anyone figured out how to modify the always-on display to show notifications for all apps, not just the default Samsung messaging and email apps?
+1
That would be nice.
maybe an update will trickle down from the Note7, who knows
I hope that update from note 7 is coming to s7.
