Thanks for the info. I didnt use M8 and M9 so i dunno double tap to sleep was there or not. But in my HTC A9 the option is present. I'm tagging the screen shot.

I am not too sure of it myself. Still on Sense 6, maybe things changed with Sense 7. Also, on Sense 6 double tap to sleep does work, but only on the lock screen. Once the phone is unlocked, it doesn't. Maybe that's how it functions on the A9 too? You can try it.
Only works on the lockscreen as in Sense 6

Yup. Exactly. It works when the screen is locked, after i wake it up with double tap. But i have used asus zenfone selfie. It works even when on screen is unlocked.

Different OEMs have different implementation. Asus may work like that, HTC doesn't.

That requires more battery, as far as I know. HTC uses a motion sensor, and consumes lesser battery. Hence, can work only on a locked screen, else it'll interfere with normal usage. I'm not too sure, but I guess that's that.
What you are saying is write but two things 1. Wouldn't it consume more battery when its in standby for double tap?-which htc has. 2 . What is the actual use of double tap to sleep on a lock screen which i have just unlocked by a double tap!!!

dt2w
check your notification on the lockscreen
dt2s
this is the only useful thing you can do with dt2s imo. If you don't have a lockscreen then yep dt2s is useless. Of course its not working when the screen is unlocked, would be a pain to use a phone which would turn off everything you tap twice on the screen

Hi,
I just wanted to ask if there's a possibility to implement "softkey swipe 2 wake/unlock" (similar to the HTC desire trackpad to wake/unlock)
thx
This would be so nice. Currently my routine is: press power button to wake, swipe screen, then enter pattern to unlock. Seems ridiculous.

Same here, it's so annoying. I quite like the face unlock, especially in the car,uch easier, but what's the point if I have to move that ring before I unlock?
Someone must know how to remove it, and just use the pattern unlock or the face unlock?
I know on CM9 you can disable the lockscreen completely (power goes straight to homescreen or open app) but cm9 on this phone isnt quite usable as an end user yet, but maybe devs might be able to put this into one of the sense roms, although im guessing this would be the least of their worries.
I think the softkey swipe to unlock would look sexy as hell though

Would be a great idea but probably uses too much battery life to keep monitoring the screen for input.
Yea I loved the Swipe2Wake function on the Sensation. It did hit the battery life pretty hard though.
Functionality wise it was amazing though especially when driving.

Once we get source release this will hopefully be possible.
Just arrived on One X and used it myself for a bit. Battery wasn't hit too hard but the battery was awful anyway
Thats a great feature, hope comes for One S
It would be very useful to remove the lockscreen, the only flaw is the battery
Well, what if we would make it work only when the screen is turned on, so after you've pressed the power button. then it wouldn't drain that much of the battery and it would still look cool
I have a related question for which I have needed the answer for about 2 years...
How do you lock your desktop? As in causing the ring lock screen to come up by choice... I have always just found this lock screen up after x minutes...but I don't know how to turn it on when I want.
I am sure there is a way, but I have not found it. Anyone?

I don't have the names handy, but have used screen lock apps from the market. You should be able to find a solution there. For those that find it a pain to hit the power button.. (me)

Hello!
So I finally grabbed my A9 and I must say it's 5x faster in terms of UI speed!
Touch screen is also a breeze as the G4 touch reactions were slow, so I am very happy to be back to HTC.
Now some questions related to the A9 as it's slightly different than M9:
-Why is it asking to decrypt the SD card at every boot?
-Double tap to sleep and wake is not working though enabled
-How can I change the navigation panel buttons like adding one or changing the long press to menu option? (it was on M9)

1. That's MM for you. It is encrypted at startup and needs to be decrypted on every boot.
2. Double tap to wake works on detecting motion gestures, double tap to sleep works only on the lock screen, just like M8/M9 prior to this device.
3. You can only hide one extra hide button to remove the navigation panel. We don't get an array of options here. You'll find it under Settings - Personalise - Navigation Bar

Finally got it with an update.
Ok now how to edit the shortcuts of the quick settings? I don't need hotspot and rotate ones but NFC and Volume.
BTW why is there no NFC setting apart for NFC payment? I have a pair of BT NFC earphones and I want to easily NFC pair them.
This MM is the worst android ever

You can not edit the quick settings. It's based on stock this time around.
This isn't Sense, it's closer to stock, hence has _g in the Sense version, and has certain limitations, the above being one of them.
And the NFC on this phone has been limited to only payments as far as I know, because probably HTC think people use it only for that.

We really need custom Roms then to ''Re-Sense'' this HTC phone, I added an extra quick settings panel to put mine and I will see if I can enable NFC for devices, the thing is that the M10 is said to be also _g , I just hope they will keep updating the Music and Car apps, I took them from the M9 and flashed them in the A9

I have flashed the Music app too, I don't use the car app. I love the HTC music app. Hope they push it to play store soon, making it easier for us.
Yes, this phone could use custom roms, but I use stock so it doesn't matter to me. I don't see many developers here though, the device isn't getting proper attention, even though it's better than Nexus 5x in almost all regards according to me.

Yes I am positively surprised by this A9, much more than the M9, shoot me but I liked it more than the G4 I had, it's so damn smooth and touch responsiveness is unbelievable!!

Previously had H7; on H8 neither I can find it. It's not there at all. Don't understand why it's removed/left out.
Want it back, and native. No patch/crack w/root to be needed, as hereto for it wasn't needed as well.
I would like to have also , Double Tap to sleep ..
Pity we cant attribute this function to the fingerprint sensor .
Would like to have a shortcut for this setting , dont want push power button each time.

If the fingerprint sensor is kept at front, then that can be the reason.
This should not be the reason for the mobile with Back FP sensor and Smart button.
Honor 5X also do have FP sensor. But it has double tap to wake feature.

Sure.
Then, after you double tap it, you need to unlock by fingerprint... because, as you said, you are forced to keep it up to use FP.
I'm not saying Honor did right choice.
But if you choosed a back FP phone, maybe you did it wrong...

Did you guys knew that our device has double tap to wake by default ? And it works even with the device in horizontal (like on a table).
Any other feature that is discovered by accident? LOL...

You didn't know? Lol. It existed since the M8. It's just that....it's been out for so long, and fingerprints are also a thing, so it is not really mainstream anymore.

3 apdates and still the double tab to wake don't work as aspected. If you don't want to gumball by a Samsung!!!
I've noticed that too, and honestly didn't give much thought. I thing I've noticed lately, is the camera auto focus. The app will almost crash when I move around. It'll lag trying to refocus. Sadly the phone isn't living up to the high standards that OP has been pushing.

Really? Oh boy, you'll be in for a surprise then.
Ask oneplus 5/5T/6/6T owners how they feel about it.
Still, to this day, it fails once per day or so. Not sure how bad is it on OP7, but still fails on my OP6 to this day.

I think double tab doesn't work as reliable as previous update.
I'll vouch for this too. The double tap to wake just doesn't work reliably. For that matter neither do the gestures. Disappointing because that's one of my favorite features of OOS.
