I'd go for the 920V because thats what your model number is.

Questions and Answers:
Q: Does this ROM will TOP UP my custom binary counter?
A: No! Stock roms are from Samsung directly, they are ORIGINAL. They don't count as "custom" so the counter will NOT be rised.
Q: Does this ROM will reset my custom binary counter?
A: No, custom binary counter will NOT reset by flashing stock rom, to reset custom binary counter you will need to use patched bootloader.

By stock, is this what Samsung loaded on before VZ put their bloat on it?
Rez on CleanRom DE or Transformer Prime (stock), waiting for S3
It has bloat. This is to help restore your phone to factory

isn't the boot loader locked on this thing?
So im new to Kernals and bootloaders and stuff (I was on a Droid Bionic) If i want to root it, I install the insecure kernal via Odin, but which checkboxes do we pick and which section do i put the tar file in?
Thanks in advance!
Yes, I think we need a 'back to stock' thread -if someone knowledgeable could put one together, I'd really appreciate it!

Yes I am new to Odin and the Samsung way of doing things myself (coming off a Droid X) so if the OP could give "a bit more" detailed instructions that would be super helpful.
If the bootloader is locked (For now) How are we supposed to flash a rooted kernel?
You cant, i will remove it from first post.

I found this on the internet with a quick google and it seemed very effective.
phone wasnt loading either and had to factory reset it as FAQ stated
http://smartphonefix.blogspot.com/2012/06/how-to-return-back-samsung-galaxy-s3-to.html
aside from slow download for firmwares and outdated odin )
{Q} Odd files
After extracting the zip and the enclosing tar there are 4 files that I recognize:
boot.img
cache.img.ext4
recovery.img
system.img.ext4
Which leaves 2 files that I've never seen before (coming from an OG Droid):
NON-HLOS.bin
SS_DL.dll
Obviously the SS_DL.dll file is a windows library, dunno what for exactly, but the one that seems totally new to me is the NON-HLOS.bin file.
I took a peak at the hex code and its an MSDOS5.0 file of some sort. There are ref's to the "BOOTMGR" a few times too. Anyone know what this file is?
I'll take a look at the SS_DL.dll in IDAPro to see what I can learn from some disassembly ;-)
ta in advance for helping a sammy n00b.
~ALQI
EDIT: I'm dumb, the NON-HLOS.bin is the modem file. Still intrigued by the samsung update zips though. I'll poke harder with this fancy stick.
To flash phone u need ful tar file (do not extract its components) and odin. There is no need to "reverse" files that we already know
Just so I'm clear. Flashing this via Odin will return my phone to stock; remove my su and custom recovery fully? Do I need to wipe anything in recovery before (first Sammy device)?
SG3 on Verizon LTE
Is this rooted? Also, can you use this to unroot your phone?
this is STOCK so your phone will get back to stock, removing root and other soft you installed
Hello

You will need to flash the OC3 or OE2 firmware if you want to be able to root. If you do not care about root flash OF1 or higher. You will have to stay with Verizon firmware because the 920v you have is from Verizon. Even though Knox is tripped you still have to stick with their firmware because it's the only one that will flash thanks to the locked bootloader. There is no way for us to bypass that. The firmware files I have are here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60427963&postcount=2
thanks a lot
but the problem is that ODIN fails when I want to flash 920v firmwares
I tried OG9 and OG7 but it fails
the only ROM that ODIN flashed was G920R4TYU3BOJ3
I download OC3 and try again
If I want to use a custom ROM, which one works with 920v or 920R4?
arther kernel and unikernel don't support these versions
what's the diference between Stock OE2 Tar and OE2 Retail Firmware?
is there anyway to flash rom without ODIN?

If you flashed any firmware higher than OC3 you will not b able to downgrade it with the 920V. If you are able to flash the OC3 stock tar with Odin then you can root it with pingpong root and use flashfire to flash ROMs from here. The firmware files only have the modem, bootloaders and stock recovery. You will need to download the stock tar that has the system folder as well. The stock tar has everything that comes with the phone out of the box new. For the 920V Odin is used for the tar and firmware files and flashfire is for the ROMs.
Odin can't flash any firmware except G920R4TYU3BOJ3
I think my phone is 920R4 and I don't know how 920v was installed on it
in my download mode:
product name: SM-G920R4
knox warranty void: 0 (0x0000)
now what can I do?
anyway that my phone works again
can I use CF-root to install custom ROM?
i'm disappointed
I only can flash 920r4 and it's not working
even I can't install custom Rom
is there any Rom that can be installed using twrp recovery?
I'm soft bricked and can't access my phone to iinstall using flashfire

Firstly, I am on Note4 N910K Korea version , firmware version 5.1.1 after flashing N910KKTU1COI2 - GALAXY Note4 SM-N910K KTC Korea (KT Corporation) firmware from sammobile.
When I flash CF-Auto-Root-treltektt-treltektt-smn910k
, my phone got stuck at the Samsung Logo bootup screen with the red line above that says "Recovery not seandroid enforcing".
Flashing SuperSU via TWRP results in the bootloop as well.
I was stuck in bootloop at the Korean logo as well when I chose the "Install Root" option after flashing TWRP-2.8.7.0-N910SKL during Reboot.
I tried clearing cache and dalvik cache, even factory reset, but the bootloop still continues. That led me to redo my flashing of firmware over and over again.
May I know how can I root my current firmware?

Secondly, Is there a working cyanogenmod for SM-N910K 5.1.1 ?
I have tried several cm12.1 versions but they all have failed during the flash via TWRP.

Have you tried rooting with Magisk instead of SuperSU? Also I would recommend asking in the troubleshoot forum since this is mainly for Exynos development.
Flash a stock rom that is android 6 based then flash Nemesis 3.7.6, wont find anything better for this phone. I have N910K as well and waisted much time trying to get it work nicely.
If you want CM, i think you need a different phone.

Do a Google search to find the 3 letter code for your region/carrier. Search for:
"Region code for Canada (enter your carrier name here)"
That should find your code.
Then go to Sammobile .com or samsung-updates .com, use the search feature there to enter your model number, this should find a list of firmware for your model number. Then find the newest firmware that matches your 3 letter code for your region/carrier. Download and flash that firmware using Odin.
