I'm trying to access a share on a Mac from Android. The share is on a FAT32 external drive, and I can browse/access it from another Mac and from a PC. But when I try to connect from Android, I get an error on the username/password (same user/pass as I'm using from other Mac and from PC). This happens with both ES File Explorer and AndSMB. I've tried both checking and unchecking the "Windows File Sharing" checkbox on the Mac, using anonymous, and two different userids (one a login user, the other a "sharing-only" user). The Android tablet (Galaxy Note 12.2 running CyanogenMod 12.1/Android 5.1.1) can access Windows shares but I need to get to some stuff on the Mac. My phone (stock GS6) is the same--can access Windows and my router's USB share but not the Mac.
Searching didn't turn up anything useful so I'd appreciate pointers to threads where this has been discussed.
TIA.
Bill

Hi guys,
I tried to find an answer to my problem under the forum "Touch Cruise Android Development". Unfortunately, I did not find any relevant thread.
Could you please let me know how can I connect my HTC Touch Cruise (Froyo 2.2) to my laptop on Win7 64 bits?
When I connect my phone to my PC, Win7 tries to download drivers for the device name "Android Phone", but it failed (No drivers found).
I tried to :
- Use HTC Sync (it's not design for Touch Cruise)
- Try to manually install HTC drivers 64 bits (downloaded from here)
I am looking forward to connect my P3650 to my laptop to be able to share internet using USB (wifi is not working yet).
Thanks for potential answers.
You can't share your pc connection with polaris using usb.
install android sdk and the drivers from android develop (use google)
Will it be possible later?
On WM6.5 it was possible to share internet in both way (from computer to phone // from phone to computer (ex: using 3G)).
i don't think so because there are some other major problems to fix before it
i am still looking for some ways to share internet to my computer, can any one help? thx a lot

Hey all..
I have an Ethernet internet connection on my laptop, and would like to share the internet with my Android device.
I tried creating an ad hoc connection, but apparently Android will not see the connection.
I tried to create a virtual access point, but apparently that's not possible with windows xp.
I tried USB reverse thetering but windows won't find the driver recommended by google
I read some place that it is possible for Android to see the ad hoc connection but I should root my phone and change some wireless file.
What is the exact procedure?
I have a samsung i5500 running on Android 2.2. I have rooted my phone.
I have a windows XP
P.S: This is the first time I ask for help on a forum (not just here). I am good good at searching but I did not find a solution for this.
With the software "connectify" you can emulate an AP under Windows..

connectify allows only ad hoc in win xp.. AP is for win 7..
Hello, I'm new at learning Android and Pc's and hoping I can find someone to assist me. I'm unsure where this post should go, if I've posted in the wrong area please forgive me and relocate this to the appropriate area.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Centura that I have been trying continuously to link to a Compaq Presario xp 7500 desktop pc that was gave to me, so I can reinstall the pc's software since the person who gave it to me wiped out important items needed for the pc to work.
My issue is once I connect my usb to the computer then my phone, it only recognizes the media files and not my usb mass storage.
Now I've asked over at the android forums only to basically be told I'm S.O.L.....so I'm here (where I should of came first) to ask:
1. Can anyone tell me how to get the pc to recognize the Centura 's usb mass storage files instead of just the media storage?
OR
2. Could someone give me step by step directions INCLUDING the correct EXACT command lines to manually install the files downloaded on my Centura that directly to my Compaq Presario xp using an android emulator?
I'd like to attempt to reinstall the software myself as I'm a single mom and computer repair and or a new pc isn't optional due to finances. I'd really like to give my children an opportunity to utilize a pc to help bother their education seeing as I never had this opportunity as a child myself .
Any and all assistance is appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

My phone is rooted. I have kingroot installed.
I am trying to spoof my mac address on my android for wifi. I have downloaded just about every app on the Playstore that has to do with automatic MAC spoofing/changing. I have gotten two apps to work. The app "MacSpoofer" (and another app I cannot remember) that have appeared to change my mac address, but when I try and use the internet I cannot connect to anything.
It says I have correctly spoofed my mac, and it displays two mac addresses; my original mac address, and then below it, it shows the new mac address that it has given me to use, but when I try to connect to the internet on the wifi it cannot connect to anything.
If anyone has a solution to my problem or another app I could use from the playstore that would work with my phone, or a guide I'd appreciate it.
Hi,
Here is the section for your device, http://forum.xda-developers.com/t/galaxy-core-prime
You could ask there for help. My guess though, is that since you rooted with kingroot, you still have a write protected system, and therefore can't accomplish this. Just a guess though, as I don't know about your specif device. The folks in the section above do though.
Maybe this could help too, http://www.xda-developers.com/spoof-your-mac-address-the-easy-way/
Good luck!
