I own a Huawei Mate 7, with 64GB , purchased in China, I rooted it.
Model HUAWEI MT7-TL10.
I kept the original EMUI 3.0
1.
Does anybody know how to change desktop grid from default 5x4 to 6x5?
2.
I installed Nova Launcher and Nova Settings >but the Nova launcher is not retained. At each reboot the original EMUI takes over. Does anybody know how to make Nova Launcher the default launcher and makes it stable, retain after reboot?
Google New Launcher does not work either. It cannot even launch
Thank you
Saulo
Additionally I would like to install the new Lollipop ROM, but run the Chinese version, and I am afraid I will loose both root and GAPPS if I upgrade to the suggested ROM from within the phone itself....
2.
Do I need the new TWRP? Or a special ROM?
Thanks
Saulo
I cannot find the item in settings to change the icon number. Vertically and Horizontally
I could not even find under "themes"
Any ideas?
settings -> manage apps -> default apps (it's on button) -> launcher (here u select nova launcher)
i think i could work...

Hi Guys.
I just rooted my Nexus S and installed CyanogenMod 7 (Stable). Everything is working fine but I have one possibly stupid question to ask.
Before when I had stock Android the app drawer had a 3D effect which is now gone. I have looked through both the Cyanogenmod settings and the ADW Launcher settings and I cant seem to find a way to enable it.
If someone could point me in the right direction I would be thankful.
Menu -> Settings -> ADW Launcher -> (I use ADW EX so it might appear different) UI Settings -> Drawer Settings -> App Drawer style
The ADW Launcher in CM7 is different from ADW EX and ADW Free on the market.
also launcher pro has the 3d app drawer effect, and its now working perfect on cyan 7. but to answer your question, cyan 7 comes wtih ADW lanucher, not the stock launcher. so ADW prob has to turn on that setting and it will work...or use launcher pro. or push the stock launcher back to your phone.
Thanks. I downloaded ADW Launcher EX from the Marketplace since that feature wasn't available in the Cyanogenmod version.
@ RogerPodacter
How would you go about pushing the stock launcher? As I also am running cm7 but want the stock launcher.
Thanks in advance.

get launcher2.apk and put it in /data/app or /system/app/ via adb / file manager
or find frank707's mod that removes adw and puts stock launcher, but you lose a lot of customization

About to pick up my P9 (yay!)
Are you guys sticking with EMUI or using a custom Launcher?
I'm currently rocking a Nexus 6 and love stock Android so am thinking of going with Google Now Launcher.
What do you lot use?
I'm sticking with EMUIs launcher as I like it and that it allows me to hide any annoying bloat apps that I cant uninstall as I don't wish to void warranty yet to remove them. I like googles launcher but all the apps will be shown.
To change default launcher when you get your phone:
1. settings
2. apps
3. advanced
4. default app settings
5. launcher
6. select google launcher to change
Personally its up to you to decide whether you like EMUI and want to keep using its' launcher or whether to replace it.
Thanks.
I've already started using Google Now. I agre, it is annoying that I can't yet remove the Huawei apps I don't want but I guess for now I can deal with that.
EMUI is nice but coming from my Nexus 6 I just want that stock feel. Haven't removed the squared/rounded app icon edges yet.
So far though LOVING this device.
I prefer Google now. I ran into a problem with it though with regards to icons not changing if I selected a new theme.
To override this go to settings > apps > Google app > storage > manage space > clear launcher data will allow the icons to be changed as clearing data/cache of Google now launcher did not seem to do the trick.
I've gone back to EMUI.
I noticed (maybe you can test this too) that when listening to music through my headphones, if I pressed the home button (or tapped on any icons) the music would skip and it ALWAYS did it.
It doesn't do it when using EMUI as the launcher.
I'm using Nova as it get's close to the stock Google Now launcher but still have personnalisation options like gestures, etc
hi ,
I have packaged two launchers in my source code. Launcher 2 and nova launcher.
I want only Launcher to be default and i change the launcher setting through my app when device is fully booted.
However home selection for the launcher shows up everytime.
Not sure how to fix this?
ResolveActivity.java is the one which shows option to launch.
Can you help me?
Hi all,
I'm on a Honor 6 L04 with EMUI 4.0 (B860).
My Nova launcher is supposed to add new apps to the homescreen (option is checked) but they only appear on the Huawei launcher. Also if an app tries to add widgets on the homescreen (like chrome or the Google app) it only shows up on the stock launcher.
Does anyone observe the same behavior? What permission does Nova launcher need to have access to the new homescreen widgets?
Thanks, Julian
PS: it works correctly on my tablet with CyanogenMod, so I assume it's an EMUI problem
Hey guys, now i really wanted the transparent google feed on nova launcher and i discovered a wierd way to do it but it's not permanent so hear it is :
1. Install pixel launcher and set it to default launcher
2. Install nova google companion app
3. Open nova launcher from pixel launcher
4. Swipe to left and it appears transparent but as long as you have pixel launcher as default launcher
So is there is a way to get while keeping nova launcher default or what ?
(Btw : I didn't test the above test on any other device so i don't know if it works on other devices)
I've tried almost anything I thought of, unfortunately couldn't get it using Nova as default
