Flashing DAV-3L with DAV-1L ROM - Huawei P8max

Hi
Is there a way to flash the Chinese P8 Max DAV-3L with the DAV-1L rom which I downloaded from Huawei Thai website. I tried local update but it didn't work.

That's a question many will ask. It probably won't work because of different hardware and hence the difference in model number.

The only way you can make this happen is to root your phone and create a custom rom from a 701 source without the modem and baseband. Then you can use the custom recovery to install them rom or push the system, data, kernal and ... via adb.

It might work. The update.app can be repackaged to contains only the system.img. Since probably the only hardware difference should be the modem.

Hi there,
Not sure that is the case actually. Like the Qualcomm SoC can be tricked into supporting more LTE bands, Kirin might also.
Kind regards,

can you do it the other way around ? install a DAV-3L on a DAV-1L ?

Yeah it might since they both share the same cpu. Technically, they should have the same number of LTE bands. Actually I did a comparison and the 703L have 2 extra bands more than the 713L.

Mate S Modem

Has anyone tried flashing or porting the Mate S modem to the p8 Max. Also has anyone unlocked more bands for the US.
can't flash modem.img partition from MATE S ... on P8Max ... ... said Operation not....
I'm curious too. I'm in the EU and have a chinese P8max and not all 4G frequencies are supported, so I rarely get 4G, instead it's 3G most of the time, even at places where 4G was always present.
Could something like this be fixed with a modem flash?

Yes. A modem flash, or if someone could modify the modem file. You would have access to more bands. There is an article here on XDA to modify frequency bands. But I don't know if it would work with Kirn! Nor do I know if it would work with the p8max at all. I have heard rumors that the mate S modem would be portable, as they have the same hardware for the modem
OK, it's the same chipset. Anyone has a source for the Mate S modem image?

Haven't found anyone who has it or is willing to give it to me! I do wonder though if any of my article I found would work as the processor is Kirin and not Qualcomm!

So, anyone tried to flash that thing?
Sent from my HUAWEI P8max using XDA-Developers mobile app
Everyone thought you were gonna, lol. No has tried, flashing it yet
How is it going? Somebody flashed?
I have 2 questions:
It is possible to activate additional baseband of modem and not having only 3 one?
It is possible to get LTE+ working on your ROM in Europe?
Thanks for your help

Looking at your build.prop.. it says hw_version is C900B110.. Does anyone know the difference between this and the C567B110?
No clue on that one...I'm not even sure how many versions of this phone there are lol. At least 3 I think
lol. Well, I'm going to re-flash the C567B110 and see how it goes.

Optus MHA-L09C34B122

What to debranded this phone but can find MHA-L09C34B122 incase debrand goes bad. This is a single SIM model so need a good replacement rom that will get ota faster. Any ideas
Sent from my MHA-L09 using Tapatalk
The best rebranding option for a single-sim device is probably MHA-L09C432.
But there's no reason you can't rebrand it to a dual-sim device. It's just, the IMEI will be 0000000 for the second sim, so you can only use one sim.
If going to another variant and can get orginal provided rom C34B122 can i cross flash Cust partition? To other variant
Sent from my MHA-L09 using Tapatalk
This phone sucks for custom stuff.. Optus hasn't released firmware onto Huawei servers so thinking I'll switch to another phone. Hopefully Note 8 not far away..

i have the same build number Optus MHA-L09C34B122 ... sorry if i ask a silly question but how do i do the rebranding? also what about back up and reverting back to the original in case something goes wrong?
appreciate your help.
No rom isn't on Huawei servers looks like Optus hasn't released firmware yet. The Optus P9 Roms are on there so maybe due to it being new

Will Nougat and older versions of android become obsolete?

I'm currently stuck with Nougat on my Huawei Honor 9, and I cannot update it anymore bec. the build number was changed into something else while I was trying to unbrick it, and I also can't root it nor can I use twrp even though the bootloader is unlocked(possibly it broke when I was unbricking it). So my question is, how long does an Android version last until it's no longer usable due to new apps not compatible with it? Should I not worry about newer versions of android coming out every year?

3 or 4 years but can be longer.
Of course, you could always try flashing it with the correct firmware build number now that it is unbricked.

I'll bet the firmware is available for free somewhere, just gotta know where to look.
I know the software tools to flash it are free so that isn't an issue.

Ok, are you certain that the firmware file that you have downloaded is for the STF-L09?
I'm not familiar with Honor 9 devices so I'm not sure that device name has different model numbers or if all Honor 9's have the same model number, most of the time, devices with the same name can have different model numbers, depending on your region and/or your carrier.
I'll be back with the flashtool for you to use.

Ok, according to your model number and chipset architecture, here is a page with a flashtool for Honor 9 and various firmware for the Honor 9 model numbers.

Then there is this thread by a member here at XDA that has a tool that can flash honor 9 stock firmware if you have TWRP installed(if you can install TWRP).

I'm fairly certain that you can make something happen with what I've just given you. See...totally free, just gotta try harder when looking.

Thanks, I will try the beta flashy when I get home, I'll be away for a few days.
Tried it, yeah i do need to pay for a dc phoenix license again lol.
I cant flash anything in fastboot even though the bootloader is unlocked. Can't flash recovery/boot/anything lol, I can't even use "fastboot oem device-info." There's something wrong with my fastboot. But thanks, it was worth a shot.

Some carriers removed fastboot functionality from their devices. I don't understand what you're saying about buying a license, I've never seen a device that required purchasing a license in order to flash stock firmware.

I mean like flashing the board software plus the firmware(the other way of flashing, besides adb, twrp, or stock recovery update), you need to short-circuit the smartphone so it is detected as usbcom1(in huawei) or as qualcom8001(in any device with qualcom processor).
You then use a software to flash it, you're lucky if your processor is qualcom(or anything that isnt hisilicon), since they are open source and free, while you need to use a paid service for hisilicon.
Here is an example of what im talking about:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/help/solution-19-00-fix-hardbricked-huawei-t3750315
Like seriously I don't even know why I'm still clinging to this device lol I wanna use Samsung A7 2018 or something.

Ah, yeah, I see, that is a different scenario than just trying to restore the correct stock firmware. Your scenario is more or less still in the "device recovery" stage.

Custom Rom P40 Lite E ?? We Need it

Hello,
Is there any possibility for a port from Lineage OS to the P40 Lite E ? This google thing is a big problem, even after installing some apps are not working as they should, without a custom firmware this phone is pretty useless.
Is there any change that we can get some custom firmware over it?
Thank you in advance.

as far as i know there is a test point for this model, could that be useful ? thats usually useful for unlocking the phone which also needs an unlocked bootloader.
